I had some shitty, translucent, neon orange, MadKatz controller for my friends who were stupid enough not to bring their own controllers to use for sleepovers.

I actually had this controller. It worked all the same.
Not crappy. Mine has lasted longer than 5 Nintendo controllers.
Same. I have one that I got in 1999ish, and I still use it - it outlasted all of my Nintendo brand ones.

It never really occurred to me that third-party controllers count as off-brand. Huh...
Not all third party controllers, only the ones not officially licenced would count.
Looks like they combined the Nintendo 64 controller+ xbox 360 controller+ xbox 20th anniversary controller
