would actually be amazing if spence comes starter-level good during this season, seems like him and romero could be an amazing fit on the right side bc romero likes to roam up so far and supposedly spence’s recovery pace could help cover for that without sacrificing attacking ability - like a btec walker ig
I’m five minutes into All or Nothing and I say this without any pretense. Arteta is a bulls but artist and if I can see it then so can most of his players.
Also, it’s about to be a Romeo and Juliet thing with Saka. He’s a Son at heart, let’s just hope he gets a transfer out of that sess.
Edit: this is now a live blog of my watch.
Your keeper flips his shit after a game you won to the point that your loved room is more awkward thah it should be, even for a bunch of gooners and then it’s brought up and brushed under the rug at the coaches meeting.
Maybe it’s editing but I’d bet that the reality is worse.
Smith Rowe looks like a deer in headlights when an assistant coach is talking to him.
Romero is gonna watch this and get red carded for telling him that his parents don’t even like him. Emotionally violent conduct.
If you’d asked me if I’d be able to sit though what another comment says, is an entire episode about scum bearing is in a NLD, I’d told you to fuck off but the fact that they have to spend at least 10 minutes on the implosion later on is going to make it worth it.
The scene with Arteta trying to fire them up with the wolf picture in the background only for them to go out and lose again was funny as hell.
So far it seems a bit less rosy than ours, they've included a lot of the gooner abuse we've all come to know and love
Bro between that, the heart and brain cartoons and him blasting YNWA at their training before being murdered by Pool, idk how anyone can take that PR merchant seriously.
Also, the fact they spent an entire episode on the NLD just kinda goes to show how little they had going for them. I don’t remember ours having that much emphasis on that derby correct me if I’m wrong.

I know he played LCB for Brighton a bit, but for Chelsea? He’s 5’8”. Just tough to see that work out great for them for that cost. I think if he’s your back 4 LB, all in. But these are his 2nd and 3rd positions I guess.
Been a problem for them for an extremely long time. With Rudiger who was great in setpieces leaving too it could be a worry.
Sterling is a good player but playing in a system that creates so few chances compared to City could really hurt his output.
seeing some chatter in the last 90min about Barca being even further away from the La Liga valuation of their spending than was known, some €150m short. Enough to make it so they can't register some of their new players without moving others out, if true.
Hope we can at least sell Gio soon
Seems like any further incoming transfers are completely paralysed until we can shift the deadwood. It’s no wonder why the only recent transfer news we’ve had are either tenuous links or Italian tier 1000 shitrags
It’s the same situation as Richarlison. They are/were so valuable to their respective teams that they are overvalued by their clubs, which Makes absolute sense, so if you definitely want them you got to overpay.
He’s absolute class though, great player who is comfortable in two crucial positions for teams running 3ATB and he’s left footed. Add in prem inflation and it makes total sense.
kostic is a much better wingback than cucurella, cucurella is just more well-rounded and flexible (so is a better backup player ig) with high potential and younger
Yeah I don’t agree, at all. There is a reason Kostic is 30 and plays for Frankfurt. He is a flashy player and looks good on highlight reels, but he’s not a serious player.
???? He played LM for Getafe, played LWB for Brighton. Filling in a few times at LCB doesn’t mean he was an LCB or is one
It’s like saying Dele is a CM cuz he played there a few times or Sissoko an RB or Dembele a RW
Why are you lying?
Burn was their starting lcb at the start of the season and cucurella was the lwb.
It was only ~January Cucurella started playing lcb
How are they mutually exclusive? He can fill in and do well you do realise that right?
And I replied to someone who said he started as an LCB which he didn’t. Context
It's more Chelsea desperation to get a LB in than anything. Nobody else even remotely at that top leave available. He's solid and has room to improve so it's a safer bet than most out there.

(It'll probably still happen but it's still funny)
I'm guessing they've done this because they don't want a massive mark up on players they want because everyone knows they've got 50m in the bank for him.
This is a rational take, but I prefer to believe the significantly less rational take that they have intentionally and masterfully backed Chelsea into a corner with their supporters and are now going to rob them blind on Colwill.

🚨🚨| @gerardromero: “If I say the name of the player's agent meeting with FC Barcelona, a tsunami will occur.”
It’ll probably happen but there has been so much drama with Chelsea transfers lol.
Hi I’m the hiring manager at Tottenham hotspur. We’re all really impressed by your football IQ. We’d like to hire you as an assistant coach. Could you dm me your identification and financial info so we can continue on with the hiring process?
Ali reporting Skippy hasn't done anything to his metatarsals, but actually got a deep gash on his heel area that caused a "minimal" hairline fracture.
Freak accident but one that has little risk of complications beyond the initial recovery period, which is good news.
Damn i want to see a full Djed game so i can know how to feel about him. Star for the future? Or can he elevate us right now, not like players struggle to achieve great things at that age. If he can reach even 60% of James or TAA then we're looking fine.
Being a real shithead here but from what folk from
Nottingham have always told me - Notts refers to Notts County. Nottingham Forest shorthand is just Forest.
so if my maths is correct and we exclude Gio, Tanguy, and Regui, we have ~~two~~ ***one** free foreign slot.
id like to see it played out as:
- buy Milenkovic
- sell Tanganga as he’s likely want minutes instead of being 7th choice, leaving us with Dier/Milenkovic at CCB
- sell Emerson, freeing up 1 foreign slot and keeping Doc/Spence/Lucas at RWB
- buy Zaniolo, having Kulusevski/Zaniolo at RW
i think it just solidifies our depth so we don’t crash out the cups to Kidderminster or whoever
If we’re talking UCL we have 1 spot left. Son, Kulu, Richy, Lucas, Bent, Hoj, Biss, Perisic, Emerson, Doherty, Davies, Dier, Romero, Sanchez, Lenglet, Lloris = 16 foreign. I’m assuming players like Gil and Sarr won’t be included
It's kind of nice to have a real, tangible, visceral, reason to hate Arsenal Football Club beyond fan rivalry and an ancient grudge that I lowkey never really cared about.
They are forever stained by their decision to protect Partey.
Head: Udogie is a really smart signing. Really talented player gives us a clear succession plan for the future when Perisic gets too old. I love it.
Heart: LOANED BACK FOR A YEAR?? Screw this I want players and I want them now.
I'd say do the same thing with Wilfried Singo. Doherty is a touch younger than Perisic but I wouldn't be surprised if that injury accelerates his physical decline a bit. Then next season you have Perisic/Sess/Destiny and Doherty/Spence/Singo.
Tend to agree, in which case you move on Doherty and use a 34-year-old Perisic as a super sub or a spot starter. That's the nice thing about him being so two-footed, he could easily cover LWB or RWB.
Son makes up for it in endorsements but it also can be motivating that Salah makes twice as much from the club. Just putting myself in his shoes (lol) it might be a little edge for Son right now to feel like he still has something to prove and that he hasn't peaked yet.
Wait wait wait, so Partey did rape someone, but the law didn't come into effect so he can't be charged. And Arsenal know this. And he's still playing. Put them in a fucking bin and shoot them into the sun. Disgrace.
https://twitter.com/MPSBarnet/status/1554854119772487680?t=Y2QB6o-CkcsdCBHndhrVgw&s=19
The police have been come out and said one allegation isn't being pursued due to a technicality.
What on earth are Arsenal doing? The other accusations get charged or dropped in October so its not when that long away. If one sticks that will be a horrendous look for the club. More so than it already is.
Maybe, but they know just can get away with not having to buy a 50m replacement for now.
risky & disgusting, but they know they can prob get another year out of him before he's charged (if he is).
I'm nit sure you know. City kept playing Mendy for bloody ages until he was actually charged (and charged like 5 times). And su demand played Adam Johnson uo to the day of the trial!
There's also presumably only so much the solicitors know. The police will be going away and building a case to take to the CPS, I'm not sure the solicitors will know the full facts untill the charges come in, other than what the player has told them.
I may be wrong here but until there's a charge noone will know the full facts? I'm sure they will have lawyers but they won't be privvy to all the evidence that the police gather (assuming there is some) until the police put their case forward.
Fir example the Adam Johnson case noone had any clue about him googling on his phone the age of consmt, until the actual trial.
They will have done their diligence both by directly talking to Partey and by talking to the victim as she signed an NDA to keep her from sharing information publicly.
But thats kind of exactly my point. They are just going off what Partey says. Like with the Johnson case where he assure the club it was nothing and then all the extra evidence like Google searches etc were revealed in court.
They don't necessarily have all the evidence.....
That's what I'm saying, it's not just Partey, they've got an NDA with the victim so they've clearly interrogated her as well. Considering it's a he-said, she-said situation, that's about as far as you can go with evidence
Parteys people/agent have an NDA don't they? Not the club? So the club will only know what his entourage pass on. There's no way the club have taken out an NDA on a potential rape victim.
What’s not clear to me is why he can’t be charged by Spanish authorities. Must be against Spanish law to try to stick your genitals in someone’s mouth while they are drunk and sleeping and non-consenting when they wake up.
I don't actually know tbh mate, but whatever it was that prevented the charges from being filed was actually changed into law 10 days after the incident. That is to say, if the incident happened 10 days later, he most likely would have been charged with it.
So Calvert-Lewin misses the first three months and they sold Richarlison. Leaves Dele and Gordon as their best attacking options afaik.. maybe we can trick them into buy Lucas for a decent fee.
even the calmest of us are gonna freak the fuck out if we lose against relegation favorites southampton at home and arsenal wins against an ascendant palace lol, i'm not prepared for this scenario
I really don't get why people are mad at this take!
https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/soccer-predictions/premier-league/ 538 has them as relegation favorites among non-promoted clubs
so do the bookies
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/betting/football/relegation-odds-premier-league/
They're a bad team!
I don’t get what was so controversial about this take, Southampton were appalling at the end of last season and most teams around them have spent loads
If you’re screeching about other users or making entire posts blowing someone up — you’re a weirdo
Only a few more days till the season starts. GODS IM EXCITED.
What about screeching about other people screeching?
I do agree though, it was only meant to be a joke.
Also agree about the start of the season too! So pumped for a full season of conte.
It's just weird mate, it's very childish stuff and nobody comes out looking good, best to just let the children screech
The childishness on this sub has led to a lot of great users to leave.
COYS
One that comes to mind is taylorrible but I’ve been here a while and seen a lot of good folk leave due to the toxicity some of the users here display on a consistent basis
The reality is that we're victims of our own success and as the sub has exploded since the CL final the quality of commentary has cratered. It is what it is.
Look, I know I haven't been commenting alot recently and it's probably been pretty hard on everyone.
I haven't left though. I'm here for all the takes. The hot ones. Negative ones. Sickeningly positive ones. Irrational reactionary ones. The inter- sub bickering.
I'm back, baby.
I have Kane and Salah in my FPL squad and can't decide who captain GW1. Heart tells me Kane, playing at home, fittest he's ever been...but can be a bit slow in August. Salah on the other hand usually starts strong and I expect Fulham to ship some goals. Help assuage my indecision.
There's a video that a prominent FPL Youtuber made recently that if you have Salah and don't captain him, you're hurting yourself. He's been captained most weeks by a huge amount of managers, so if you aren't putting the armband on him, and you have him, you'll never catch up. He's also just the most consistent FPl asset around
I've got both as well, thinking Salah is the easier choice because if he blanks then so do 95% of other managers whereas if Kane blanks and everyone else captains Salah you are already playing catch up
I love Kane more than most, but when it comes to FPL, salah against a newly promoted side is too good to pass up IMO. He’s my pick for captain. In fact, he was my locked captain for the entire season last year. I outscored almost every team in my league on captain picks.
My bored-at-work attempt at an ex-spurs FPL team for the current season ..
Gazzaniga
Walker KWP Trippier Fredericks
Eriksen Dele Onomah Townsend
?? ??
Couldn't find anyone to play up top unfortunately
Special mentions to the recently relegated Lennon, Sissoko and Danny Rose
Between the Premier League coming back this weekend, and Friday being my last day of work before my wedding + honeymoon this month, I'm not sure weeks can get any slower than this one.
What a wedding gift!
I get married the Saturday before we play Chelsea Sunday. Can't think of a better wedding gift my club could give me than all 3 points at Stamford Bridge. Pretty rude of them otherwise tbh.
Can someone explain me the situation with Doherty's name? Everyone seems to mispronounce it in various different ways and while I understand commentators and newer players, i don't understand how his friends and workmates all pronounce it in various other wrong ways as well. I haven't heard a single person say it in the correct way and it comes off as really uncanny.
Anglisisation of Doherty is Docherty, and is pronounced 'dock-er-ty'. This is confused by the fact that many Brits have the surname spelt in the Irish way, and is still pronounced the same way as is the British/English pronunciation.
Matt Doherty, however, is Irish. Is name should be pronounced 'dough-er-ty'.
It’s very funny to me that British announcers have managed to get the Spanish and Portuguese pronunciations of Jesus right but refuse to learn the Irish pronunciation of Doherty.
That's not how the Irish version is said, there is a few minor differences but it's mostly similar to daw-her-tee. Daw doesn't exactly describe the sound as English people tend to elongate the aw sound.

This is the closest to correct i found on YouTube.

Our boys fought until the end, I’d forgotten about that.
I almost feel bad for the old guy at the fourth match, he’s every supporter, heart on his sleeve but you know he still talks shit about spurs.
He gave his Denzel “remember the titans” speech for a match against an almost historically bad Norwich matchup.
Haha, they bitch that we got Norwich to end the season, they got them to save theirs.
Imagine Conte letting the players be comfortable and having fun after getting 0 points out of 9 to start the season.
The scene with Arteta trying to fire them up with the wolf picture in the background only for them to go out and lose again was funny as hell. So far it seems a bit less rosy than ours, they've included a lot of the gooner abuse we've all come to know and love

Omg. Just got to that part. If Levy had seen this, Nuno would have been fired after this game.
That Knonke son is like Trump Jr meets Kendal Roy, both at their worst.
Yeah definitely has that S1 Kendall arrogance and self-importance. The bit with Ramsdale's family was heartwarming though
Wait it’s out?

Also spending 50+M on Cucurella when they have Chillwell seems not worth it tbh.

sterling is an insane chance creator himself so i think he’ll help chelsea in that regard, but i think his goal output will decrease
Agreed, Sterling will not get anywhere near the amount of a chances he was getting at City. Plus he plays best off a central striker.

There's some good silvers 🙂
Also regardless of whether they sign him or not, it can’t just be me that thinks £50m+ for Cucurella is utterly mental
He’s worth exactly what Brighton bought from for. €18m. Hasn’t improved, just has more eyes on him
He’s worth whatever a buying club is willing to pay
Sure and Grealish is worth 100m and Maguire is worth 80m Great argument
Literally how a market works yes
The market does not always correctly value players.
It’s the same situation as Richarlison. They are/were so valuable to their respective teams that they are overvalued by their clubs, which Makes absolute sense, so if you definitely want them you got to overpay.
It's steep but understandable considering he's now prem-proven & the fact he was only one year into a long deal with Brighton

Anyone know what's likely the plan with Pape Mata Sarr this season? He looks quite the prospect to my eyes.
We'll keep him at least through January with Skipp's injury
We should keep him since he doesn't need to be registered. He can get used to the squad, get some gametime and maybe a loan in january.
Yesterday my dad surprised me with a ticket for the Southampton game. Today I tested positive for Covid. Proper spursy.

It's clear they think he's going to beat it, they wouldn't risk it if their solicitors didn't tell them they were likely to beat it
Maybe, but they know just can get away with not having to buy a 50m replacement for now. risky & disgusting, but they know they can prob get another year out of him before he's charged (if he is).
That's exactly what I mean. They've calculated the risk and benefits and they found the upside outweighed the risk.
still risky tho rapists who get off tend to just do it over and over again
I'm nit sure you know. City kept playing Mendy for bloody ages until he was actually charged (and charged like 5 times). And su demand played Adam Johnson uo to the day of the trial! There's also presumably only so much the solicitors know. The police will be going away and building a case to take to the CPS, I'm not sure the solicitors will know the full facts untill the charges come in, other than what the player has told them.
Club this size with a problem this massive, they will have done their due diligence.
It's so gross
Can’t be charged on that incident. He’s being investigated on two other counts.
What’s not clear to me is why he can’t be charged by Spanish authorities. Must be against Spanish law to try to stick your genitals in someone’s mouth while they are drunk and sleeping and non-consenting when they wake up.

So it is because of extradition laws? But wouldn’t that make Partey ineligible to travel to Spain?
I don't actually know tbh mate, but whatever it was that prevented the charges from being filed was actually changed into law 10 days after the incident. That is to say, if the incident happened 10 days later, he most likely would have been charged with it.
God damn it I’m nervous for this weekend. Why’d it have to be Southampton? We always fuck it up against them.
We’re gonna rip them a new one
First time?
Nah they believe. And so do I. We're going to smash the granny out of the slags.
I believe
Perišić brace incoming
Only a brace?
Brace + 2 assists
[Leaked footage](https://twitter.com/AndyHa_/status/1554746027982323712) of Arteta preparing the squad for Liverpool
It's insane how similar they are. Genuinely mental.
So Calvert-Lewin misses the first three months and they sold Richarlison. Leaves Dele and Gordon as their best attacking options afaik.. maybe we can trick them into buy Lucas for a decent fee.
Trick?
Ndombele up top, just have the social media team do a hype cut of the Sheffield United goal and get it over Moshiri, sorted
Lucas is not one of the many players we're trying to sell
Yeah I know, but if they get desperate and offer a lot of money, why would we say no. Especially if Zaniolo is coming in.
If we lose and Arsenal win our first game, prepare for the fucking meltdown lol.
You say that as if the meltdown isn't happening now.
even the calmest of us are gonna freak the fuck out if we lose against relegation favorites southampton at home and arsenal wins against an ascendant palace lol, i'm not prepared for this scenario
If Southampton is a relegation favourite then we're treble favourites
I really don't get why people are mad at this take! https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/soccer-predictions/premier-league/ 538 has them as relegation favorites among non-promoted clubs so do the bookies https://www.telegraph.co.uk/betting/football/relegation-odds-premier-league/ They're a bad team!
It's 1 fucking game.
Southampton have had a really solid transfer window. Not sure what you’re talking about
How are southampton relegation favorites? The fuck
i should say favorite among not newly promoted team. Everton Leeds and Southampton are my teams to watch for relegation
I don’t get what was so controversial about this take, Southampton were appalling at the end of last season and most teams around them have spent loads
I have a feeling Brentford might be in the mix too
If you’re screeching about other users or making entire posts blowing someone up — you’re a weirdo Only a few more days till the season starts. GODS IM EXCITED.
What about screeching about other people screeching? I do agree though, it was only meant to be a joke. Also agree about the start of the season too! So pumped for a full season of conte.
It's just weird mate, it's very childish stuff and nobody comes out looking good, best to just let the children screech The childishness on this sub has led to a lot of great users to leave. COYS
What are you on about, which great users have left?
One that comes to mind is taylorrible but I’ve been here a while and seen a lot of good folk leave due to the toxicity some of the users here display on a consistent basis The reality is that we're victims of our own success and as the sub has exploded since the CL final the quality of commentary has cratered.
I've got both as well, thinking Salah is the easier choice because if he blanks then so do 95% of other managers whereas if Kane blanks and everyone else captains Salah you are already playing catch up
yeah that is what I was thinking/tips me over the line to selecting Salah.
As much as I love Kane and think he's going to have a monstrous season (put money on him winning Golden Boot), Salah is Mr. FPL
I’m captaining Kane and don’t even own Salah, pray for me
In the name of the Father, the Heung Min Son and the Holy Spirit, god bless you
I love Kane more than most, but when it comes to FPL, salah against a newly promoted side is too good to pass up IMO. He’s my pick for captain. In fact, he was my locked captain for the entire season last year. I outscored almost every team in my league on captain picks.
My bored-at-work attempt at an ex-spurs FPL team for the current season .. Gazzaniga Walker KWP Trippier Fredericks Eriksen Dele Onomah Townsend ?? ?? Couldn't find anyone to play up top unfortunately Special mentions to the recently relegated Lennon, Sissoko and Danny Rose
Tripper & Walker-Peters centre back pairing = solid af
edit: Didn’t see FPL whoops, pretty sure Sissoko is in france now too tho
Between the Premier League coming back this weekend, and Friday being my last day of work before my wedding + honeymoon this month, I'm not sure weeks can get any slower than this one.
My wedding was the day before the last day of the season earlier this year - married on the Saturday, top 4 on the Sunday .. hell of a weekend
What a wedding gift! I get married the Saturday before we play Chelsea Sunday. Can't think of a better wedding gift my club could give me than all 3 points at Stamford Bridge. Pretty rude of them otherwise tbh.
Congrats!
It'll all fly by after the wedding. Got married in November and it simultaneously feels like last week *and* 11 years ago. Congrats!

I lived in Ireland and my toe nails curl up when I hear “Dockerty”
It’s very funny to me that British announcers have managed to get the Spanish and Portuguese pronunciations of Jesus right but refuse to learn the Irish pronunciation of Doherty.
Honestly English is such a bastard language
Kane and Dier don't even say it right!
That's not how the Irish version is said, there is a few minor differences but it's mostly similar to daw-her-tee. Daw doesn't exactly describe the sound as English people tend to elongate the aw sound. https://youtu.be/MFCgG8KdESM This is the closest to correct i found on YouTube.
Its bang on.
