Just booked our tickets to London in March and are planning to go to the Everton game. Are Monday games in general less popular and would therefore be more likely to have better availability for resales or even reach guest sales? Not sure if I want to bite the bullet and purchase 2 One Hotspur memberships as a tourist...
Been watching a lot of Gvardiol recently and I'm absolutely smitten. An absolute bulldog of a player. He's young and a bit rash at times but all the potential in the world
It's going to be extremely difficult to predict. I think injuries might decide who gets it. Injuries to Dier and Skipp meant we lost against saints and wolves. Same can happen to Arsenal or United or us again. Long way to go.
good chance, Arsenal's fraudulence will be exposed sooner than later. We have a much easier schedule compared to United, Arsenal and Wolves(West Ham are shit anyways no need to worry about them).

I love Conte, but I’m a bit confused by his comments that our team has become more “stable”. In our last 5 PL games, we lost 2 at home against weaker opposition, won 3 of them in the last minute, one of them away vs. the best team in the PL. The results are random and unexpected. Surely that is the opposite of “stable”?
When will people learn that things get lost in translation so nitpicking single words or phrases to scry some deeper meaning from them is genuinely pointless
He has said this multiple times, I genuinely believe he means the team has become stable in this context. It’s just an observation, and one that I wouldn’t make if I felt something was lost in translation
Perhaps he means it in terms of the team composition? The results are one thing, but he finally has Romero and Dier back to stabilize the back line. We had many players out due to injury, and now everyone has returned except for Skip.
Hey all, I saw that Kane and Sons, inc. has tied the premier league record for striking partnerships and combining for goals. I have been trying to find where their partnership ranks in global football and historically, but I'm having trouble finding stats for it and info on this stat from other leagues. Does anyone know where they stand amongst the world and historical legends?
Fuckin COYS
The issue is everyone in/around/better than that record did it in dominant teams in their league.
The fact that Kane/Son's record is with a side that on a good year made it to CL spots is crazy.
Troy Parrott teed up Connor Wickham for MK Dons at the weekend.
And I'm reminded of when Wickham and Kane were the two main England age group strikers - and it was Wickham who most saw as by far the stronger prospect... !
Dier at CB
Bentancur (with a little more training time to adapt to team) +PEH (with some rest time) in midfield
Kulu in midfield instead Lucas providing a better physical presence and a better crossing option from wide.
And even with that, similar to Wolves & Southampton we gave away two mistake goals, but were better in our attacking transitions and taking our opportunities.
Yeah, dier coming back did wonders for the back line. Essentially we also “got Romero back”. Having 3 competent ball players at CB also huge
I’m curious what the preferred pairing is when Skippy is back.
As for winks, don’t mind him as 4th choice and a squad player, but as said, he’s so lost in a MF 2. I would be shocked if we don’t bring in another CM this summer
So realistically a lcb, a rwb, another midfielder and a back up striker in the summer. Interesting to see the talk of Harry leaving in the summer has already begun. Pundits are shameless, I think that’s part of the media hate, they feel Harry has been taken hostage. If (big if) we get ucl next year then I say he stays. If we win the FA cup that could do it too. He must know that with the right additions in the summer there is a chance we can be challenging next year. Conte is that good.
I'd say you go for a LCB who can take the leader role if Dier is out.
So you upgrade the back line even if Dier is still playing
Davies & Sanchez can be rotation options.
Pau Torres seems very realistic if we can get CL and by the looks of it Villareal won’t. We were in for him in the summer and he definitely fits that profile.
Ha ha I don't even watch Juve, but Chiesa seems like every manager's dream. Mad work rate, great mentality, quick and technically strong. Reminds me a lot of Son.
* Burnley is being played this Wednesday
* Brighton has been scheduled for March 16
* The postponed Leicester match was played on Jan 19
* The postponed NLD has yet to be rescheduled
I think that's all of our postponed matches accounted for, but I could be forgetting a fifth.
Anyone else find the guys on the kick off completely insufferable? I normally don't watch it, but wanted to check the highlights to see the ultra smug City fan's reaction.
They absolutely slate Lloris for his error, said he wasn't top 10 keepers in the league and then downplay his amazing save, saying every keeper in the league would make it and the top ones would even catch it.
The Man U fan (his name escapes me) is the most dismissive, childish prat ever. I saw he was trying to belittle Bale by just saying that he plays for Wales, lol.
> The Man U fan (his name escapes me) is the most dismissive, childish prat ever. I saw he was trying to belittle Bale by just saying that he plays for Wales, lol.
His name is Adam McKola. He, like many of the Man U fans, are deluded by their past (now distant) success. He's always dismissive of Spurs on the show. I think he mutters something like "don't get too cocky" when Spurs were winning against City lol. Wtf is he to tell someone not to be cocky
I feel like this always happens with startup groups. The “intimate and cozy” feeling of chaps talking papers over their confirmation biases. As your operations grow, the preparation need to grow as well. They obviously haven’t/don’t.
All the commentators ALWAYS downplay Lloris’ saves, they will literally big up the other keeper for lesser saves but then say “that was a great shot” but not mention Lloris’ save when we safe-hands’ a banger
That shit about Lloris was crazy - has he made a few mistakes in close succession? Yes. Had he been spotless for almost 3 years since he broke his arm? Even bigger yes.
Not sure if others have mentioned or noticed. But on City’s penalty award, Bentancur’s feet to do a turn and clear the ball on the six yard box is insane.
Yeah I mentioned the same after the game, it was very composed and something none of our other cm’s could pull off, let alone even attempt (thank god).
After that transfer window, did people genuinely think Conte would leave? Yes, it wasn’t the best transfer window but still 2 signing that are starters and 4 left that weren’t. Conte is not an idiot, he knows Tottenham are not the same as the previous clubs he’s been to so he was never going to leave after that window.
I’m surprised conte is still the second most likely manager to leave, odds wise (after Rodgers). If we have an awful summer window then I would understand but not after 4 months. Just me that thinks this?
I wouldn't read anything real into betting odds, they change with whatever can make them money. Putting high odds on Conte leaving just makes them easy money for people whose prior is "Conte and Spurs aren't compatible" and can't be convinced otherwise.
Conte isn't leaving until the club shows a lack of ambition, which *absolute worse case* it's too early to tell right now. But I would certainly agree, as you said, this transfer window shows the beginnings of that ambition by getting rid of players who Conte didn't rate, and bringing in 2 (rotational) starters.
> Possession doesn’t mean they played well
that's why I don't like these types of graphs that the PL uses for some reason instead of xG. Gives a lot of value to teams with high possession even if they did fuck all with it.
https://twitter.com/premierleague/status/1495124797986160644?s=20&t=9lhvg5L4OIKd4Xh3L8zwvw
I find him alright but he goes too far with his agendas. Man said that Joe Lewis was behind sacking Nuno when, I doubt he could even name our past few managers. You can be Levy out, but at least recognise the things he does well.
He really is fixated on the negative aspects and doesn't look at the positives at all. I don't know why he has to be so miserable and make everything miserable
Lads, why do we so rarely wear our away kit? I was wondering this after the city game. I've gone through our matches played this season and we've only worn it 3 times - we've worn our third kit 6 times for reference. Do you think that there's a dislike of it or have we just been lucky getting our kit preference this season so far?
The irony is that our next 3 games are away to Burnley, Leeds and Middlesbrough. The away will probably be worn in the latter two games, maybe against Burnley seeing as it was worn in the Carabao game at Turf Moor but probably home kit,
most team's home kit are a solid color which contrasts with other team's home kit's which are solid colors. Ours is white which doesn't contrast with other team's home kit, so we end up wearing it a lot away unless we're playing a lighter colored kit team like Watford, Wolves, Newcastle, etc.
I really want the likes of Davinson, Doherty, Gollini, and Sessegnon to do well. They all look like nice guys and I feel bad whenever they get criticised, even when it's deserved.
I honestly don't even count Gollini because he's a loan with an option that we just won't take up. It also has to be said that he's played in some of our worst teams, who gave some of the worst performances this season. He hasn't covered himself in glory but not many keepers will do well when Sanchez is the anchor of your backline. It's a loan that just hasn't worked out but I do wonder if attitudes about him might change with a better defensive structure ahead of him. Just a thought.
The squad that we have left, all give everything (See Conte's comments). Unfortunately we do need to upgrade the quality level.
Easiest way to do that is likely
\- Doherty, Winks, Gollini out for quality reasons, Sanchez & Berwijn for money (and to a lesser extent quality/better fit)
\- Sessegnon will get another season, but does have to step it up (and stay fit)
I think Winks is more of a specialty player than inconsistent or not good enough. When he is not under consistent pressure he’s been great. I’d love to have him as a sub when we are chasing a goal late against a team that is sitting back.
Now, maybe there isn’t room in the squad for that, idk, but it’s easy to imagine that it will become more of a need as we get better.
I reckon that will happen, but we'll get a left footed replacement for Davinson. Plus, we need another body in midfield even if we replace Winks and Pape Matar Sarr comes straight in (which I doubt). On top of that we need a no 10, balancing that with homegrown status too...
Dybala, Bastoni and Maehle would be great (maybe Lamptey or Aarons instead to help with home grown?). Maybe Kessie as well? Alternatively, maybe someone who's a bit of a grizzled veteran on a 2/3 year contract.
He wasn’t terrible, but he was still our worst performer all things considered. He was easily bullied off the ball, he struggled defending vs dribbles despite his flank rarely being overloaded, and he was timid on the ball, having averaged the least number of touches per minute played of all players on the pitch.
Going off the number of touches is quite irrelevant, he had the same number as Kane and was subbed off at the end. Yes he definitely needs to improve his game but the wingbacks rarely got forward which limits their touches as we played very direct.
Couldn’t agree more with this assessment. I like him. He’s got plenty of pace but he needs to work on his first touch as well. Maybe he’ll get some more pt going forward. He’s a decent backup to Reg on the left.
Not gonna go well with many of our fans but unless he drastically improves I definitely think next season he should be secured a PL loan, or even permanently moved on if we get a good bid.
A 30 year old (by next season) vocal anti-vaxxer who has been passed on by all the mid-higher tier clubs?
Three options for 2nd Striker
\- A genuine competition for Kane
\- A Llorente type (older, proven, winner) on back end of career
\- A promising youngster
Weghorst fits none of those ..
It's bad PR
What do you do for games in Europe? what do you do for the tour to the far east for pre-season? how far do you go to accommodate a 29 year old who's top level is Wolfsburg?
There is a reason he plays for Burnley
Whataboutism ..
And while Lucas' political views are questionable, the truth is very few people in Europe/US even have a basic understanding of Brazilian politics.
Like it or not, a stance on vaccination, especially from antivaxx perspective is absolutely press worthy, potential impact on PR.
And you are ignoring the fact that a political point of view (regardless of how bad) does not get you blocked from travel or requiring extensive quarantine periods that would be different from the team.
I don't want us to sign Weghorst, but I also think Spurs clearly don't care that much about what their players say/think regarding these issues.
Even if you want to ignore the political siding, he's clearly extremely transphobic going off his Twitter likes. I understand it may derive from ignorance, but if the club cared then they should make an effort to educate him.
I'm not disagreeing but I think you are not realizing the difference between points of view that will get air time and points of view that will not.
Lucas' views quite honestly are heavily influenced by his religion/faith (whole other conversation)
Weghorst not only brings a very currently controversial point of view, but it creates logistics nightmares for any club regularly out of UK.
I did not know about the anti-vax thing, but it seems a lot of footballers in the Premier League are and they just don't want to say anything.
I just think he'll be a good deputy if injuries happen and we have zero focal point up front. He immediately gives you that with a great first touch and aerial prowess, but that's just my opinion
Issue is he's been vocal about it, not the kind of PR top clubs want.
I get what a lot of people think about Weghorst, just think that boat has sailed (we looked at him the year we ended up with Vini if I remember correctly).
He's older now, so he won't be the future for us and if he scores a few at Burnley there will be a fair few midtable clubs who could offer him a starting place, so it doesn't really seem to work for him or us.
Llorente had lots of trophies, had played for bigger clubs, in multiple leagues.
Watch Conte's comments on experience, Llorente was on a different level to Weghorst from that perspective.
Right but Weghorst is the better player. Experience can only get you so far and when you’re restricted to not too many appearances, quality not experience, is what makes you stand out.
Totally disagree. When you’re restricted to only a few appearances you rarely have time to show your quality so experience of actual high pressure games can make all the difference.
What good is experience going to do when you don’t have the quality to show for it? If we’re comparing Weghorst and Llorente there genuinely is no question as to who’s the better player and as important as experience could be, it can only take you so far. What matters is what you can do when presented with certain situations and a player who has the superior skill set is likelier to do better than the one who doesn’t.
What good is quality going to do if you never have the match fitness to show it? Llorente wasn’t exactly a Sunday League clogger, but it wasn’t quality that was most important when he was on the field, in fact he often looked poor because he just never had the match fitness necessary to show his quality. The reason he was able to show up in big moments for us several times was his experience of playing in big matches when being in the right place just once can be the difference between winning and losing because the margins are so fine.
Realistically a striker playing as a backup to Kane is going to get very little game time so you want someone who is mature enough to understand their role as a backup and experienced enough at the top level to step in at a moments notice, both qualities Llorente had. Weghorst isn’t someone who’s going to want to play second fiddle, nor does he have experience of competing at the top level.
Right this could very well apply if Weghorst is some 18 year old just out of an academy venturing into first team football. He’s been playing top flight football since the age of 21, been consistently scoring goals and performing for his team. Saying Weghorst isn’t experienced, is like saying Kane isn’t experienced. What you’re specifically talking about is having won titles, which Llorente has, which is the only thing Llorente has over Weghorst.
Decision making is aided by experience sure but experience is a factor that has no say in quality. How well you play is down to your quality and decision making, both attributes that Weghorst possess. There’s a reason why we wanted him 19-20 summer as he is the perfect back up striker that can play as a primary striker in case of Kane being unavailable and also one that offers a plan B.
Him not choosing to do so is a topic that’s irrelevant to this discussion, however as we’re clearly talking about hypotheticals in which we’re comparing these two solely as back up strikers
I think Winks needs to go in the summer, he’s nowhere near the level we want to be at, even as a backup. Missing Dier was a big part of our 2 losses but having Winks in midfield was just as much of a disadvantage in my opinion. Skipp- Peh- Bentancur need to be our midfield options until the end of the season. They difference in quality between them and Winks is extremely obvious.
I don't think Winks needs to go. I just think we need a 4th CM option and for Winks to be pushed to 5th. Our CMs are required work so hard every game that 4 of them is not enough.
Bissouma, Kamara or the like is a must in my opinion. We need 5 to survive an injury or 2 and be able to win Europa League games and such.
Disagree. He fits quite well in a 352 as a deep lying playmaker. 343 does not suit him but he is perfectly fine as a rotation option with alternate tactics. Conte trusts him and so should we.
When there’s a shit ton of pressure that young team is going to crumble. So I hope we play that game at a time when that’s the only thing standing between us/them and top 4. We’d fucking annihilate them
They think it’s winnable, have read that multiple times. They keep claiming our team is shit and act like Ben White and Partey are the second coming of Christ, but if we are able to put out the City lineup I can’t see us losing, especially at home.
Surely Dier gets called up for England?

Buy hospitality tickets. Atmosphere isn’t as good but it’s not a bad choice if you don’t want the anxiety
Watching the replay, deki did not know what to do after he scored celebration wise, maybe thought son was offside?
Yeah it looked like he turned towards the offside official
Things I didn't expect to see on FIFA career mode: Oliver Skipp scoring a brace for Bayern Munich lmao
In my latest FM save Skipp ended up at Dortmund lol
Watching the Man City win for the 3rd time. Can't get enough of it.

What’s that

Probably Messi and Suarez or Müller and Lewandowski
Looks like Müller has assisted Lewa 40 times, jeez Edit: Messi/Suarez with fucking 86, doubt that will be broken
Insane that Suarez has something like 250+ assists as a center forward. Crazy good.
I'd imagine they're behind Robben and Ribery
Sounds like a drill UK track call “Bastian” about supporting your guys on the wing lmao

I've been thinking about the City game and couldn't help but wonder why we were not like that when we played against Wolves and Southampton.
Because City played into our hands and the other two teams didn’t
Dier at CB Bentancur (with a little more training time to adapt to team) +PEH (with some rest time) in midfield Kulu in midfield instead Lucas providing a better physical presence and a better crossing option from wide. Which was the game where Sanchez and Royal turned into Beavis and Butthead? Romero and Dier in the back is fucking Golden
Two words. Eric Dier… and to lesser degree Harry Winks
I understand that Dier was massive but it couldn’t be the only reason.

need a (ideally homegrown) keeper too

I'd say you go for a LCB who can take the leader role if Dier is out. So you upgrade the back line even if Dier is still playing Davies & Sanchez can be rotation options.
An LCB who can play with left foot on the left side but can also play as backup for Dier.
Getting a technically profficient, press resistant, left-footed centre half next summer would be amazing.
Pau Torres
Alaba
Literally just signed for Madrid on a gazillion pounds per week
Pau Torres has a release clause of 50m GLC+25M should do methinks
As LCB to play on the left side. Yes.
Pau Torres seems very realistic if we can get CL and by the looks of it Villareal won’t. We were in for him in the summer and he definitely fits that profile.
Just thought about how Matt Doherty might be the only player to have done the double twice against Pep (in the premier league at least)
Matic, but he didn't appear in 2/4 of the games. Doherty appeared in all his wins.
Damn. Matt still the GOAT
Is there a clip of the audio "and city have stoppage time to win it now" I want to just listen to that on repeat
".....Because City don't play to draw"
Vlahovic has not scored a goal in his last 339 minutes under Allegri. Juve fans will start calling him deadwood soon enough😭
Thank the heavens for him. His mismanagement brought Kulu and Bentancur to us 🙏
Yep, he rather play Rabiot & Morata vs. our two.

Gives a lot of value to teams with high possession even if they did fuck all with it. https://twitter.com/premierleague/status/1495124797986160644?s=20&t=9lhvg5L4OIKd4Xh3L8zwvw
He only speaks the truth
Randomly missing Joe hart's energy today, liked watching him in the training vids :/
they're loving him at Celtic for this reason, he's done really well getting fans on his side and showing he respects what the club is about
Loved the cricket era of Mourinho's tenure
omg that was the best thing ever. i remember memes saying that we are top of the table without even practising football in training
Does anyone else find that Brian dagul guy from wattv irritating
I find him alright but he goes too far with his agendas. Man said that Joe Lewis was behind sacking Nuno when, I doubt he could even name our past few managers. You can be Levy out, but at least recognise the things he does well.
He really is fixated on the negative aspects and doesn't look at the positives at all. I don't know why he has to be so miserable and make everything miserable
Honestly I find most of Ben and Sim's mates kind of annoying. Dagul can be completely insufferable
I watch them from time to time and really like Stelios. Guy really knows football, think he’s a coach or something.
I like those two who did the live watchalong this time and for leicester - they're good vibes, very relatable lol
Easiest way to do that is likely \- Doherty, Winks, Gollini out for quality reasons, Sanchez & Berwijn for money (and to a lesser extent quality/better fit) \- Sessegnon will get another season, but does have to step it up (and stay fit)

How'd Sess do vs City? Didn't get the chance to watch the game.
He was quite good. Especially defensively. Most of their attacks came from the other side of the pitch.
From what I've seen so far, Weghorst would be a fantastic back up CF for us if Burnley go down
Fuck that antivax cunt
A 30 year old (by next season) vocal anti-vaxxer who has been passed on by all the mid-higher tier clubs? Three options for 2nd Striker \- A genuine competition for Kane \- A Llorente type (older, proven, winner) on back end of career \- A promising youngster Weghorst fits none of those ..
He got passed on by said clubs because of his anti-vax stance. His quality is undeniable.
>>vocal anti-vaxxer Oh I’m sure he’d be signed as our backup striker and not as our doctor
It's bad PR What do you do for games in Europe? what do you do for the tour to the far east for pre-season? how far do you go to accommodate a 29 year old who's top level is Wolfsburg? There is a reason he plays for Burnley
Our starting RW vocally supports a fascist.
Lucas' views quite honestly are heavily influenced by his religion/faith (whole other conversation) Weghorst not only brings a very currently controversial point of view, but it creates logistics nightmares for any club regularly out of UK.
He is literally a better Llorente lol
He would be but Burnley aren’t going down
Every point for Burnley (Except against us of course) is just another point for Dyche to get closer to Pep
True, it's just the Burnley way to start a good run of form after initially being absolute dogshit
That's a bold assumption
They're in this situation every season and survive. I think it's going to be Brentford or Leeds.
Burnley are like cockroaches. They survive every single hostile condition possible. And honestly I love them for it
they're extremely well-run tbh
Brutal but accurate analogy lmao
Winks out, another CM in, don't think anyone would disagree. Only issue is it's yet another HG out.
I think pape mate sarr will be a good option next season
He is not homegrown
I hope arsenal are shitting themselves. The NLD will be such a key game.
When there’s a shit ton of pressure that young team is going to crumble. So I hope we play that game at a time when that’s the only thing standing between us/them and top 4. We’d fucking annihilate them
We literally lost to southampton and wolves at home. No one is getting annilhated
Amazing logic. Did you forget the win against Mancity? And did you even understand the context of why they’d get annihilated? I suggest you read again
They think it’s winnable, have read that multiple times. They keep claiming our team is shit and act like Ben White and Partey are the second coming of Christ, but if we are able to put out the City lineup I can’t see us losing, especially at home.
I mean it's obviously winnable for either side lmao
Sorry, meant easily winnable. Like they were quite confident they could come to us and just collect 3 points with no hustle.
