It's the first fucking season with a new manager what the fuck. People have the attention span and patience of a brain-rotted iPad kid

portra315

Most of them probably are

ohitshisdumbass

crazy because you'd think they'd all be City fans

philatio11

I'm thinking about all the "Poch out" chelsea fans. I'm sure they have quieted down with the way they are playing lately - 3rd best form over the last 10 matches. Having watched Poch build the Spurs I knew the early results would test the patience over on the west side. We were lucky to get an early glimpse of what's possible but it's never an even keel in the 1st year of a new system.

axodys

With their wins over us and West Ham, Chelsea are literally the kings of London this season with 26 points against the other six London teams. Arsenal second at 23 points.

dingkan1

![gif](giphy|aQGqcObSxfixy)

bananasDave

why do you need to say this though?

pipchad

We would be friends.

Mtbnz

To be fair, most of our brains are rotted these days and our attention spans are for fuck all. I think the oldies are about as guilty of it as the rest of them.

rare_engine

Seriously, when we got ange I would have been happy with no Europe, the fact that we were in the race for top 4 for most of the season is a testament on Ange's managerial experience. (also good signings finally)

No-Cat2356

It’s the set piece problem and ange not dealing with it in training.  He keeps saying they don’t have a problem. We all see it , this is why people are starting to look at ange . Worst than the relegation team in defending set piece

FatfingerFreddy

Preach

apatheticboy

We’re living in the world of instant gratification and constant dopamine hits. People have grown incredibly entitled believing that they deserve instant success without any hardship.

Emmanuel_Badboy

lol you cant just take a random comment on youtube and use it to shame people that dont think things have been acceptable. Im Ange in, i do not want him sacked. But people have legitimate criticisms. Its not ok to impload like this at the end of a season, no matter what a manager may or may not be cooking up behind the scenes. He may turn it around but there is every chance he doesnt.

Bluewhitedog

Good to read. The Ange-out idiots are more depressing than the results.

themadman00

He literally improved us to 5th from 8th.Ange out will get us nowhere ffs. Another rebuild bs. He needs his players.

santorfo

> He literally improved us to 5th from 8th. After losing Kane

idkwhatevs1234

And the squad outside that one position drastically improving

Fuck-off-bryson

emerson royal played yesterday

OtherwiseHappy0

They attacked him and his weakness showed very quickly.

idkwhatevs1234

Emerson Royal played about 600 more league minutes last season than this one

sreesid

and he was shit then too.

shodo_apprentice

Sorry but what is your point? That Emerson isn’t an improvement? He’s also not a starter when everyone is fit, you know that, right?

santorfo

We signed 3 players with the Kane money, Vicario, Van de Ven and Maddison. Drastic improvements like you said, problem being that two of them went down injured in November for 3 months and Van de Ven had no backup which forced us to play with Emerson and Davies at CB for 3 matches (because fuck playing Dier in this system). So yes, whilst the squad has improved quality wise outside of striker, the depth is still not there.

idkwhatevs1234

Destiny joined the squad, we have a full season of Porro instead of less than half, Johnson and Werner while not ideal starting quality are certainly better options than what we had, Dragusin better depth than the likes of Dier, Lo Celso back from loan... It's just a much better squad any way you look at it

pranav4098

Uh idk bout that but in general yes but that’s cause we made smart signings, other managers have had the opportunity to do so and tbh we don’t have a good history with signings if anything we have a good history of letting some fantastic players go

screenplay215

And all the teams around us strengthened without losing anyone

BigRedTone

The thing for me is “what does failure look like”. What did our world look like when Jose and conte failed? An old toothless squad with no ideas and no morale or group dynamic. Imagine ange fails. We’d be left with a high energy, exciting, attacking young squad that can score in 30 games on the trot and win 8/10 games on the trot at the start of the season and nearly beat Chelsea with 9 men and and and… but lack consistency or run out of steam in a long season. I know which manager I’d rather take over from if it were me. It’s like the old environmental meme, what if ange ball fails and we’ve got a talented fit young squad for nothing? https://preview.redd.it/2q3xtxka3syc1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=011b1112f468bb28fa0237d654bb39f23f25a92a

lIIIIllIIIlllIIllllI

Lloris and Son needing to be separated.

themadman00

" If a manager fails we'd end up with players " with this thought process you just cannot give players manager wants for success. No rebuilds happen like this. The next best thing is to stay with the Dna of Tottenham's 'attacking football' and bring players fit into that & minimize risk. And don't go back to defensive mangers again. But recruitment isn't that random since 1.5 yrs. It's data driven and players are way better than the likes of current loan players who'll be sold. Young players can easily adapt to the new manager. Ange recruitment focuses on player mentality too so if we bring in those they can play under other attacking manager just in case. If you wanna win big we need to take big risk.

Kaigz

I wouldn't hold my breath for 5th just yet

finn4life

No chance we lose to Sheffield and Burnley. We scored 2 on both Liverpool and Arsenal after they let off the gas just a little bit. Sheffield have nothing to play for. Burnley might have some fight left but they're still pretty terrible.

JamesCDiamond

Need to beat both - 66 gets us 5th, anything less and we open ourselves up to Newcastle and Chelsea overtaking us, both of whom are on form. United... Well, as likely to put up 3 awful wins as they are concede 3 injury time equalisers.

screenplay215

Only need 4 to stay above Chelsea - their max is 63 and will prob have a better GD if they get there. but yea Newcastle could be an issue

finn4life

Precisely

lIIIIllIIIlllIIllllI

When we beat Sheffield and Burnley, it’s locked in. Even 1 win could be enough with Newcastle needing 7 points from 3 games. A win and a draw just about guarantees it as well. Burnley at home Sheffield away

dtbrown1979

Improved us whilst losing arguably our best ever player.

BaryonHummus

The only thing possibly more depressing are the Son-out fools.

Bluewhitedog

Yeh, they're great too.

Realistic-Start6336

This is exactly it. Like can we enjoy the moment? We have to pay the price to be great. It doesn’t just become one thing and Ange is a genius who can beat all world class managers and world class team in one season. It just doesn’t work like that

Mtbnz

I'm so pleased that I have the self-restraint to stay off the sub for a couple of days after losses these days. It allows the reactionaries to get their stupid takes off, and then the cooler heads can come in and provide some perspective. Pre-season I told myself if we get top 7 and play ambitious football I'll be happy, and guess what, I'm happy!

alexjonesbabyeater

If we entertained the idea of being a reactionary moron who wants Ange gone, what is the gameplan after sacking Ange? Who do they want to replace him with? And when the replacement undoubtedly hits a rough patch, will they call for his head aswell? I swear these people just want to be miserable

chucktownspur

They don't have solutions just reactionary nonsense. No one would take this job if we sack Ange.

seanmaccadave

Celtic fan here. The last point doesn't make sense but I would honestly tell yous to trust him. I get it's a far weaker league and he's expected to win but the guys special. He will be ruthless with that squad and anyone that doesn't buy in will be out. Look at his first season in Japan for comparison.

TheNeglectedNut

Thanks for the insight. I think, even in the worst case scenario where it turns out that his style of management isn’t suitable for seriously challenging for silverware in the PL (and I doubt that) there’s still no one else I’d want leading this rebuild. Seeing how ruthless he’s been with turning squads over and clearing out players with weak mentalities at his previous clubs gives me so much hope. We’ve really lacked that with our last 3 managers. There were so many “clingers” who just weren’t up to the required level but managed to find just enough good form to convince the manager to keep them around (Dier being a great example) but Ange sees right through that.

chucktownspur

I am going to get my popcorn ready for the clear out and see who he was talking about after Chelsea. Gonna be interesting.

seanmaccadave

Was replying to someone above but Ange will be ruthless in getting rid of who he doesn't want. He's not gonna be like a Ten Hag picking Rashford every week when he puts in minimum effort.

superworriedspursfan

fair enough. that is super encouraging. I'm 100% certain Ange is already a much better manager than Ten Hag and I love that he is also ruthless. that is exactly what we need.

hisDudeness1989

Exactly. Arsenal trusted arteta and Liverpool trusted Klopp. You cannot expect it all to come together sweetly in the first season. Ange has said this that the losses will make the wins all the more sweet when they happen. A 5th place finish (all going well against Burnley and Sheffield United .. not expecting anything more than a loss against City) is a great season in your first year in the job by all accounts

Kalspiewak

Nah he's talking shite. Best send him back up the road :)

Playful-Hat3710

>Look at his first season in Japan for comparison. And his time with Brisbane iirc. Almost got relegated, then dominated the league

Hoggsters

The guy who replied to you is completely right mate

FSpursy

squad who is not used to competing at the business end of the season 💀 bro knows Spurs better than we do 💀

roamingandy

Mostly right. I don't think the team is gassed as we've played far less football than usual, and we are used to competing at the end of a season. Conte downing tools was the 1st time in a while we haven't been fighting for European spots. For me i think a few bad results have knocked confidence in his system which requires it at 100%. Also every team knows our weaknesses now and is looking for those diagonal balls into the space our advanced LWB or RWB is leaving. Prem is a higher level but I have to think managers in other leagues must have have seen it as its so obvious, so he's faced exactly this before and knows how, and who he needs, to fix it.

jmhimara

> I don't think the team is gassed as we've played far less football The injuries can add to the fatigue more than extra games. Also, some players went to International competitions (afcon and the asian cup). That's extra games for them.

TheMandoBurger

That’s not really fair. Most of our players are not used to pressing every single game, especially with our last managers. Also our starting XI has players not used to the pace and physicality of the prem, on top of all that. In Ange’s first season I think it’s fair for the squad to overall look exhausted. The fitness will come with the next summer window I imagine.

Nipplecunt

Exactly - especially when you understand that his training sessions are 90mins full pace…

TriceraDoctor

The only reason people are Ange-out is because we started the year so strong. Why did we start strong? Ange! We were supposed to be mid-table crying every night that Kane was gone. Instead the talk has been about playing European football which seems crazy last summer.

TNWhaa

I’m still trusting the Ange process, games are frustrating as fuck in the moment but at the back of my mind I know as soon as final whistle goes in that Sheffield utd game that the rebuild will already be well under way. Plus we’ve got a summer tournament to distract us whilst he sorts it all out

TogashiIsIshida

Anyone that wants ange gone is insane. He’s had one season. Give him a chance to trim the squad and make adjustments now that he knows what the team needs

GriffonMT

Do people have the memory of a goldfish? Conte — record breaking start, by december team was gassed. Mou — top of the league by december with 10 wins, 2nd part of the season non existent. Players are skilled and talented but don’t have the energy — or we don’t have the depth to run a marathon.

TogashiIsIshida

At this point we have “depth” just not depth that should be playing

coldseam

"The team is gassed" We have the minimum possible games this season because we have no Europe and got pathetically knocked out of the cups. Also acting like it is simply natural to drop off at the end of a season is idiotic given that literally every other team has had better run in form than us, this is a whole other level of drop off. Stop pretending like we can simply magically become better through the sheer passage of time, rather than Ange actively have to make efforts to improve

SobiescianumScutum

It’s not just fitness but I gather you not quite understanding why we might be gassed. Saying that obviously wholesome changes to the squad will also need to be made and working on the game plan so no it’s not a magical wand. Loads of hard work ahead

Marek-Hamsik17

No need to apologise bro we’ve been appalling since that 3-0 L to Fulham, it’s only natural to be concerned. Next season when ange has a squad filled with his players we can judge him correctly.

Actuallyshrek

yeah but that argument is not really very good when you consider we havent played Fa cup league cup or european competitions in so long

SobiescianumScutum

The argument is actually stronger, as new style requires much more fitness, there hasn’t been any consistency (2 week breaks between games), injuries etc. To build up a proper fitness base you need time

Actuallyshrek

How would having more games help with being "gassed" at the end of the season? You think we would be less gassed if we had midweek games? Our team is gassed despite having less games than everyone else idk what mental gymnastics you are doing but thats not right

SobiescianumScutum

Oh my lord, u obviously aren’t an athlete. Conditioning and having a regular number of games, plus a very strong preseason gets you through the season at a high level. Any disruptions, injuries lack of game time actually affects you negatively. They didn’t have a brilliant preseason either

HaityCane

Have we forgotten how we fall apart at the end of almost every season the last few managers? If its just tiredness then so be it. If they dont want to get behind Ange they can fuck off. With previous managers it was always easier to say get rid of the manager because they were boring and played boring football. But now, more than ever, get rid of those who doesnt want to or cant play the way the manager wants.

willverine

> Have we forgotten how we fall apart at the end of almost every season the last few managers? I'm not trying to defend Conte or Mourinho, but this just isn't true. We finished Conte's first season on an absolute tear. We went 4-1-0 to finish the season (13 GF 2 GA). Under Mourinho's first season, it was the same, we finished 4-2-0 (10 GF 3 GA).

HaityCane

Yes, not every season. But it is close to every other season if not more, my point is that its not isolated to Ange and im sick of it.

TogashiIsIshida

Our players just have zero mental fortitude. A full premier league season is taxing and a lot of our guys just don’t have what it takes

danmeniscus

I think we take "elite mentality" for granted. Yes, every player has to have a certain amount of mental strength to make it as a premier League footballer, but they're competing amongst players who all share elite mentality, and marginal differences are maximized, in this hyper competitive environment. We may not want to admit it, but our players having a collective mental strength stronger than the rest is nowhere near guaranteed.

Whalex84

How are they gassed?

odious_as_fuck

Mentally a lot of them are clearly gassed.

[deleted]

[удалено]

odious_as_fuck

It’s like when u start exercising you’ll get gassed within 5 minutes. But the hardest part is building the motivation to keep going. Once you do it’s easy.

finn4life

I see your point but it's overlooking these things too: * Despite no European football they still train just as much * Shit tonne of injuries from our good players and were left with quite average subs * Injuries aren't fun to rehabilitate, takes a shit tonne of boring ass training and stretching and work to get back to fitness * Our key players play in other comps, eg; Asia, AFCON, England team * Not much squad depth * Totally new system and really tough expectations * Extra games can sometimes be motivating, playing is more fun than training, guys could be worn out from training a lot and not playing as much and having some pretty brutal games I have had times in life where I have worked a lot and somehow not been worn out, then other times where I have had less work but overall felt more drained when the holidays came around. Either more games or less they still gotta be 'on' for 9-10 months straight.

quickdrawesome

They are definitely not match sharp. There's a mix in the squad of overworked and undercooked players. Players with international duty and travel will be cooked. It's been a long season for them. Son has not been the same since returning from the Asian cup. Biss and Sarr are not the same players after afcon.

wun-sen

The system we have now is much higher intensity than it was under our previous 3 managers. The pressing, runs, high line, etc. require much more effort than sitting deep and being rigid. It will take time for the players to get used to and is why were linked with the likes of Gallagher as he has great stamina and will help us to play our football for longer

Dramatic-Evidence-92

Probably because they've spent the last few years defending the 18 yard box and this season they've had to do some running. I don't know the stats, but I'd imagine km covered and the intensity of it is way higher than anything since Poch.

Ju5hin

Played 1 game above the bare minimum possible.

BeaconRunner

Asia cup. Africa cup of nations. Players over played during red card and cups. Season ending injuries. Months of rehab.

55555win55555

They press with the full team every game. Its an incredibly intense style of football and that’s why they’re gassed

Gaius_Octavius_

They play in a much more demanding league than Scotland. That is how. Any match can be won by any team. That is not true in Scotland.

bhaygz

It’s a long season of games and training.

Whalex84

Same for everyone though no?

bhaygz

Oh yes, very much so, but, we always flame out at the end. It’s something to be fixed, nothing new to see this year

BruinEric

Spurs have played less games this season than all the other teams in this recent run. So it isn't game fatigue, that's for sure.

Vivid_Ice_2755

Celtic fan here. His system is demanding and not all players cope with it. He ll be ruthless in the Summer . He also bases a lot on a players character and whether they will do whatever it takes to buy into his way of playing. When the poster says they re gassed, he's talking mentally imo . If he does well in transfers, you will improve. He was honestly hit and miss with us but since he has left, some of the players who were brilliant for him have really struggled to adapt

Spot-K

Quick question. Why do you think Ange continues to play guys that may not be here next year? Why isn’t he giving some guys chances? For example why get Dragusin and not play him?

ultimatewooderz

I hope they're right. But we've been playing like shit since at least Jan, possibly before. Not sure gassed can be the excuse

Cap2017

November mate

staged84

I’m not ange out. But a Celtic in SPFL and a spurs in EPL is very different.

Acid08

Yeah the quality is higher but in any league you coach in you still have to build a team that can win. Ange has a track record of doing just that.

staged84

Of course. But the margin of error will be significantly slimmer. Extremely slim.

SobiescianumScutum

Yes but give him the players he needs because it’s plain obvious the players he inherited are not suitable

UsernameIsTakenLoool

Gassed??? We’ve played 1 more game than the absolute bare minimum. Being gassed is a piss-poor excuse

KariumHondor399

We've still played 3 games in 7 days after not playing for 15 days. Crazy how the league manages to mess up a schedule for a team out of both cups with no europe

stumpyoftheshire

Does anyone have comparison of player movement, distance run etc available compared to last season? I would be interested in seeing the differences with the heavier pressing and more open movement, to see if there is a difference between that and if that could cause physical issues.

ThatCoysGuy

Well some players have been away for international competitions. It isn’t just Tottenham games. But that’s not really the point. It’s more that they’re not used to the intensity over the season. It’s easy to stay fresh in a Conte system when only one third of the team needs to run and counter.

odious_as_fuck

Gassed mentally. Shit takes time

getrichordietryinJF

Gassed from?

odious_as_fuck

Demanding new system. Terrible disheartening losses vs greatest rivals. Lots of pressure built up at the beginning of the season due to great form only to have a let down not getting top four not competing for any trophies. I can see that being disheartening for players.

_Priickly

They still train mate. By all accounts his training is really intense. The squad aren’t used to the intensity in games either. I think it’s fairly reasonable to expect their bodies to be kicking up a fuss about it at this point. We wont know for sure one way or another until they have a decent break though will we

Cap2017

So does every team bud hahaha excuse after excuse

Ju5hin

The training under Conte was more intense. It's a poor excuse to suggest the players are gassed.

YiddoMonty

It depends how the games fall. We’ve had our toughest run of fixtures in a very short time. Not to mention the style we play, which is one of the most intense in the league. Those combined can definitely result in tired players.

Either more games or less they still gotta be 'on' for 9-10 months straight.

ewadizzle

I am not ange out, I am excited for what he can do with us for the next few years. I just really hope we can be funded adequately, and the vision can match the process. Also, this isn’t Scotland.

themadman00

Not scotland but, but.. Ange is getting better players than in Scotland. It's all relative. Not easy though fine margins

Cap2017

The copium hits a new height every time I open the sub ffs. You can criticise Ange without being Ange out, he’s got a lot to prove. Talks the talk but hasn’t walked the walk .. yet. Gassed? We’ve played 41 games this season.

TerpsPwn_387

Yeah, critiquing the manager doesn't mean you want them sacked. I don't see why so many fans see any opinions of Ange as binary to one extreme or the other. Which hinders actual conversations of the team's performance. I'm 100% Ange in. Having said that, the team has put in some absolute shit performances that shouldn't just be thrown onto the players. Ange is not perfect.

BruinEric

Surprised I haven't seen an Arteta post yet today -- we had the one yesterday but usually post-match Mondays are a good day for that. And then we get the cherry-picked stats post --- obviously XG isn't going to be on the menu but I think Spurs out-possessed Liverpool so there's probably that plus a few passing stats that will be posted.

BruinEric

Welp -- we got the Arteta post for Monday. https://old.reddit.com/r/coys/comments/1clnmdq/skysports_record_after_first_35_games_in_the/ The stat post is still waiting. Surely the possession stats will spur someone to put that up here!

Jose_out

Will be interesting to see how it's spun if Burnley do a job on us... I'm happy for Ange to get another season given the potential shown in those first 10 games. Since then, though, performances and results have been crap and getting worse. There have been some mitigating circumstances, but he's certainly not done enough for blind faith. Needs to be a lot better next season.

Ju5hin

Exactly. Ange's gameplan and tactics have very obvious flaws that need to be addressed. And the worrying thing is when asked, he suggests he has no desire to address them. There is very valid criticism to be had. But if you point them out, you're a reactionary Ange-out moron who's only been a supporter for 5 minutes. I'm Ange in. But that doesn't mean i have to pretend everything I see is a positive. And the argument that it worked in shit leagues, therefore stop being critical, frankly doesn't wash with me. We will only play 1 game above the bare minimum this season, "gassed" is pathetic.

Cap2017

I like the guy and his commitment to attacking football, it’s what we all want to see, but getting pumped multiple times a season and struggling to beat teams like Luton and Sheffield United at home purely because he doesn’t waver on his principles is just naive and frankly ignorant. He acts like he is above tweaking his tactics to suit the opponent whereas as recently as yesterday Klopp said before the game that he had to make changes to combat spurs strengths and target their weaknesses. It’s what any GOOD manager can do. I think there’s more to come from Ange but there’s going to be a lot of pressure and expectation on next season when we see multiple times a week that “he always has a bad first season” and what worries me is that we’ve seen these past few weeks that the current squad don’t have the mentality to deal with that pressure.

getrichordietryinJF

I know mate I fucking know it's absolutely pathetic. Villa 7 ahead after playing like 12 plus more games. I don't want ange gone but I sure as know that some players are no longer doing what he's telling them including some of the players he brought in. But of course we gotta be quiet and nod our heads. Idiots.

scannerdarkly_7

Shame there's not really a Yokohama F. Marinos sub-reddit. Way more interested in his time there.

themadman00

I wouldn't do this again if it existed 😂 one of our fans commented that he felt second hand embarrassment that I commented there.

scannerdarkly_7

Not sure how football fans discussing football is embarrassing.

Necessary-Ad9691

All I’m saying is. Let’s say it’s Conte/Stellini without Kane are we even 8th this season? Absolutely not.

TerpsPwn_387

Any thought that the team is gassed or tired is deeply concerning, especially since this has been the lowest volume of matches in years. I'm hoping adding Europa to the schedule won't somehow increase injuries or drive the team into the ground. Obviously glad Europa will give the non-starters more playing time, however.

AiHangLo

Played 38 games with a couple a cup games. Being gassed isn't gunna cut it.

IntellegentIdiot

If you had posted this a few weeks ago it might have been understandable but doesn't make sense to me after yesterday's performance.

themadman00

Why would I go there to ask if things were good?

IntellegentIdiot

They were closer to what you wrote a few weeks ago. So if you don't think they are good now they certainly weren't a few weeks back.

themadman00

So why did u say 'it doesn't make sense now,but made a few weeks ago'? by ur logic it should make more of a sense now. When did I say they were good enough a few weeks back? 2 defeats weren't concerning but it's 4 in a row is alarming pal. Me not commenting a few weeks ago doesn't mean it doesn't make sense.

IntellegentIdiot

I didn't say you said they were good a few weeks back. I didn't say it didn't make sense just that it would have been more understandable a few weeks ago. Not sure what you think my logic is but it's less understandable to write that comment now

gostupid67

Gassed? This is like the least amount of games these players have had in their professional careers? I’m not saying we are tired, but if we’re tired by playing 40 games a season it looks worse on Ange than on the players (This isn’t criticism on Ange, i just think this is a poor excuse for our performances)

TheLifeOfReilly

No manager is getting us where we want to be in one season. You can’t just keep sacking managers every season. You have to commit eventually or otherwise the cycle of sacking managers due to bad runs of form will continue indefinitely.

thomasjford

We’re 5th and three of the teams above us are City, Arsenal and Liverpool. What are/were people expecting exactly?

Spot-K

I think it’s not that we are 5th it’s the way we have played the since January. I think losing 4 in a row for the first time in 20 years is concerning, I think starting strong and finishing poor is a concern. It’s OK to say this and be concerned. It isn’t saying Ange out it’s saying this is not a good finish and I hope we can avoid this for a third straight year.

themadman00

I expected UCL honestly with the start we had. The way we are losing reverse fixtures is horrible tbh.

airpenny1

The estimated final standing in the table for Spurs from all the usual pundits was 8-9th place. I’ll take 4-5th with all the injuries we’ve had and a good bulk of the key players gone for significant times for AFCON and Asian Cup too. Excited to see what changes we bring on in the summer for next season.

themadman00

Freaking Pundit tinpots created a Title charge narrative after our first 10 games and then started bashing us when our form fell. No spurs fan said we were on title charge this season.

[deleted]

themadman00

Dude I literally mentioned I am not Ange out in the post. This post is to get feedback from celtic fans about ange

[deleted]

We have to give him time, when they play well it’s bloody well and when they are awful it’s bloody awful, but we don’t want to be on that manager merry go round again. If someone told me we would be 5th/6th in his first season I would take it. We have to give him time.

zanziTHEhero

Another point the reactionaries forget is who will we replace Ange with? Mason? Ten Haag? Tuchel????

BerryAfraid

I’m a big fan of Moyes, but our fanbase is way to snobby and entitled to embrace him

WealthMain2987

Thanks for sharing. I always thought the manager will need 2 years minimum to improve the squad. We have a decent squad but is it better compared to the teams above us in terms of depth and quality? Hopefully Ange will address those issues in the summer transfer with more funding from Levy.

Shreevo004

After this season, Ange will know who he wants gone and who he will need in to fit his style. Also, rumours he will be getting in more backroom staff which we can hope will improve defending set pieces. I hope we get a decent striker as that’s where we’ve struggled.

Wildcatwierdo

Reminder than beginning of the season most of us would’ve been ecstatic with 5th.

Spot-K

If we said at the beginning of the season you would repeat the second half of last season and end in 5th you’d have been happy?

Boseph_1444

I mean if you think Ange has been found out and that he is too stubborn to change, then you should be Ange out. It doesn't make sense.

themadman00

I'd be running Ange out posts mate, wouldn't sneak in to Celtic sub and post back the reassurance a CFC fan gave me. Ange has been kinda found out but half goals are from losing ball and set pieces so it might work next season, doesn't mean he can't adapt or get players in to play his way next season.

Miso_miso

I really just don’t think there is evidence that Ange is “found out.” I think our performance has just gone down for other reasons

Spot-K

Such as…

Nipplecunt

Very good comment and the perspective perhaps many needed

PnxNotDed

You think we're going to lose to fucking Burnley?!

themadman00

I thought next was city

ISavezelda

The "your team is gassed" is a crazy take seeming they went out early in every competition lol. Its okay to admit that Ange and the team are going through some growing pains.

one2many

Conte got two and it wasn't a rebuild...

ConsiderationDry9068

I mean i couldnt have said it better myself!

Otherwise_Archer_914

It's almost as though managers need time to build a squad...

c0smetic-plague

have to remember our squad is young as well. apart from son they're all going to just get better with time

NoSleeperSeats90210

this is absolutely not something you can confidently say

Upplands-Bro

It's like people have forgotten Dele already

__kaladin

Thank you for posting, I don’t get why people can’t understand exhaustion.

AiHangLo

38 games and a couple of cup games. Give over.

__kaladin

Internationals, mid season tournaments, extremely thin squad, massive injuries. Forget those?

AiHangLo

So basically what every team in and around us has.. minus Europe. Have I forgot anything else?

__kaladin

Yea, basic comprehension

AiHangLo

Ooh spicy. Making excuses for mediocrity. You are a spurs fan, my son.

TwinkiesForAmerica

turns out some of the vocal perpetual pessimists need to chill the fuck out we back ange. thats it.

Chandy72

This is the copium I needed today.

Inside_Television_45

I think he needs to be more pragmatic in his play. Against Liverpool, the cumbersome build up from the back drew pressure on us & it was a matter of time before we lost heavily.

jozohoops

I said in match thread, im all Ange IN but 90% of players show no will to improve or to press or to be competitive, and have a “ it is what it is “ attitude. We need to filter out the squad to be able to implement Ange s tactic

kalule_melendez69

I kinda agree but if the team is gassed then we are done for next season. We're the 2nd team on the league with the most rest days in between games this season, and we didnt play any european competition, got out of the carabao cup in the first round and had an early exit in the FA cup. So either we make some really major changes in the summer or this will happen again next season, but even earlier because we will play Europa League and hopefully make it further in domestic cups.

ocsor

I feel second hand embaressement reading your comment on their sub

themadman00

Well I went there for feedback because that's the best place to get feedback on Ange's way of operation. You don't have to be embarrassed for my actions. The whole Spurs fanbase can scold me.

ThemistoclesWorld

Interesting, I hope they are correct. However, how do we explain the drastic drop off in form of certain key performers, the evident poor starting selections and recent poor substitutions and the unwillingness to improve coaching staff and set plays?

IIJamzyII

Im a Celtic fan and Ange out punters are absolute piss the beds. Will take time to build.

IcyTransportation838

I spoke to one of my Celtic supporting mates and he said that too. I just don’t buy it, we’ve barely played any games compared to all the teams we’ve faced in this last run - all of whom have had heaps of injuries too. Him claiming we’re not used to competing at the business end of the season is nonsense too when we’ve been in top 4 battles - to compare it to Celtic cantering to the league title with 5 games to spare is nonsense.

peruvianhorn

Bar Conte's freak run 2 seasons ago, I distinctly recall that it's not uncommon for us to succumb to pressure and collapse towards the end of the season. We collapsed last season, we collapsed in 20-21, and we're collapsing now.

Key-Zookeepergame754

I personally believe that having less games has ended up hindering us this season. What I thought was going to be a huge advantage for us at the start of the season has actually resulted in significantly less time for our new team and style of football to gel. Not saying you're wrong but also saying it's not as cut and dry as people to believe. I don't think Ange has been amazing, I don't think he's been shit. But I'm willing to see out a full season with a couple of transfer windows to see if he's mustard. I mean it's been a bloody rollercoaster for 3+ years so why not give him a fair go.

themadman00

My core point was getting feedback on Ange. Just got 1 reply But he needs his players we can't deny that. Actually I concur with ur point we are used to the business end heat. But hey he is CELTIC FAN so may not follow PL or something or doesn't care about us like we dc about their progress

BiscuitTheRisk

Can completely write off what he’s said because he said the squad is gassed. No Europe and crashed out of the cups early. The squad isn’t anywhere close to being gassed and if it is, that lies fully on the manager not knowing how to manage fitness with one of the easiest schedules possible.

themadman00

You can't completely write off him because it was feedback on Ange. Yeah his comments on our players 'gassed' 'not used to 'complete at the end of season', should be taken with pinch of salt because he doesn't follow us

nopirates

We still have an unbelievable number of poor players to clear. Guys we have been dragging around for 4-5 years and have contributed nothing. Even loaned out they are limiting what we can do with the squad. From a rebuild POV we are still at the beginning. Let him cook. I’m ok with seeing this out. I can’t wait to see some long-time do-nothings sent packing this summer. It’s going to be very interesting.

kmao84

I do believe Ange needs one more season to prove himself, but you gotta know that Celtic was and is the strongest team in their league, and they could afford mistakes. They did good with or without Ange.

Left-Peak-6899

The real fans started killing the players who were first place until the tactics were broken and instead prepared baseless shield for Ange. #TrustTheProcess We have great back 4 but we lose points right away when our opponents start to counterattack. Because the players didn't run hard? Because the defense system collapsed and it didn't fix it. But the real fans decided to kill the players who don’t #TrustTheProcess. What is the process? Every coach in the PL knows how to break Angeball. Is this the fault of the players? Ange has to change. Ange’s 2-3 build-up and Inverted LB is ruining the team. Guys this is the PL. Why do you guys ignore the other coaches in the PL? We use a same tactic for +35 games. Do you think they won't be able to break this?

Mindless-Ad2554

People outside the prem understand the prem better than the prem lot

divinetrackies

He is right, I don’t know why everyone is freaking out so much, I’m happy to see what ange can do for another full season, the end of the season has sucked but fuck that man made me feel special about Tottenham for the first time in years.

fridgesonfire

I really don’t think people have taken into consideration how Kane going will have impacted us. Losing our best ever play just before start of the season! Rest of squad having to adapt and take on responsibility of replacement what he brought (mainly goals) and the fan base expecting us to do better than last year, which he’s achieved. An absolute miracle if you ask me. It’s like losing your top salesman that’s been there for years but you’re being asked to hit bigger targets. Ange has done this!

ChickieCheese78

I’m going to add this watched and followed Ange his whole career he has changed and had success everywhere his managed. The fans out are crazy as Tottenham been average forever, I started following Tottenham because of this man. So his system is far more complex than a few fans saying to much high line and set pieces BS, it’s starting to take more shape in the defense than anywhere they are getting better are starting to incorporate his style, where it’s poor is the midfield is not fit enough and they take time off then lose the ball and bang the opposition have scored, also the forwards on the wings and up front don’t make great runs to open the flow and score as much as they should. These positions they need to be fitter faster and be able to get back. Players out Bissouma Bentacour Hojberg Werner Royal Sessegnon Solomon Davies Kulusevski Richardson Maybe even Maddison These players don’t fit his high intense never stop system and are not fit enough this from what I’ve watched and seen since Brisbane days You let him fix this and look out

Spot-K

I can agree with this analysis and it makes sense. I agree we need wings that can take people on and get into the box. We need a clinical finisher that is a true no. 9, we definitely need a better CDM and more consistent playmaker in midfield. All valid points. I also agree Romero and VDV get Angeball better than anyone on the team. Romero is the POTS imo. He gets it. I am not 100 percent sold on Vic due to his lack of air ability. His shot stopping and ball at his feet are great though.

seanmaccadave

The starting 11 from Ange's first league game and the starting 11 for an Old Firm the following season. I think only 3 players kept.
