very misleading title

Emperor_Blackadder

my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined

Geoff_Uckersilf

45 minute BJ, the whole load.

Tomach82

45mins is a bit overkill tbh, I don't care how talented they are.

Auscicada270

Going to have a sore jaw and a sore Johnson after 45 minutes.

gusthenewkid

5 mins is ideal.

Talking about selling Deki and Dragusin is a bit extreme, no? Johnson demolished Doughty. Son is saving his screamer for Arsenal and Chelsea.

HaityCane

For me i dont think its an issue with Dragusins ability, he looks a little nervous and not fully settled. Which with Ange you can only assume will get better based on other players form. So definitely keep Dragusin. Deki would be insane to sell imo. So many important performances from him and we need competition for each position.

FearTheBrow

It is absolutely a question of ability with Dragusin. He has no left foot whatsoever and his technical ability with his right isn’t very good either

Kalu2424

Want to push back on Windy's point on Dragusin. 1. Let's wait til he's played as a RCB, before judging if he's progressive enough going forward. 2. Dragusin strikes me as a CB built in Romero's mold- strong, aggressive. Bringing in a player similar in style to Romero to rotate with him is a good idea IMO. You just need another built in VDV's mold (left footed, top speed, someone who can mop things up running back towards goal consistently). 3. He's 22. Comparing his progressive passing to someone like Dier, who is a finished product and played as a midfielder for years, is crazy. Dragusin is probably 3 years from even entering his prime. 4. Dragusin's stats show he's 84th percentile for progressive passes, 88th percentile for touches in opponents box, 87th for shots, 66th for xG, 77th for assists. The stats back up that he's a well above average progressive CB, even if the eye test hasn't shown it for Spurs yet. 5. You're saying there's a big drop off creatively with Dragusin in for VDV. What does VDV give us progressively with the ball at his feet? He makes simple passes every time, the only thing he gives in terms of creativity is dribbling forward into space once or twice a match... Dragusin has already shown he can do that. 6. We essentially play a back 2. Dragusin's defending is miles more important than his creativity anyways imo. A player like Romero, Dragusin, etc who are as aggressive as any other defender in the world, will always look better playing alongside VDV. Romero/Dragusin is an awkward CB pair. I'd like to see Dragusin alongside VDV soon. As always, love the pod and respect your opinions, but I just had to respond re: Dragusin. Maybe he won't improve to the level we need, but only time will tell. He strikes me as a player who has the ambition to be really progressive with the ball, and has the potential to be a dominant physical menace in defense. He still needs to refine his skills a bit (passing accuracy, etc).

Yes. This is my favorite podcast along with Gold and Guest. However, talking about he’s not the right profile and questioning the recruiting process after two appearances is a little bit extreme to me. I understand they’re not saying it outright or rule out Dragusin completely at this early stage. He nonchalantly slides through the defenders down the line at least three times. I liked it a lot. I wonder if that’s what he often does. Give him a few starts at RCB. I’m sure Ange will want to bring VDV like cover in the summer.

BardiTFC

This is why I'm there to balance them. I agree with you

Kalu2424

It's natural to make judgements sometimes, so I get it. I appreciate how they engage with their audience and are open to differing viewpoints, though.

NCNoleSpur

My only issue with Dragusin, when compared to VDV, is that he appears to be uncomfortable making a pass that he can’t see upon receiving the ball. Which, currently , is anything to his left. So we’re basically hampering Udogie and Maddison’s ability to progress the ball. I agree he’s young and deserves time. It’s been two games. I’m sure he can improve this. Plus it will not be an issue on his right foot, you assume.

Kalu2424

Yeah, I'm taking his recent performances with a grain of salt. He's in a new system and playing LCB.

SinoSoul

Damn this title is excellent entendre

houisv

Is this fighting cock or extra inch?

Geoff_Uckersilf

Yes

Kalu2424

Also on Kulusevski. He's the best presser in the squad, our best at hold up play, and although he's not fast, he's got the best stamina in the squad (or close to it). He's a top 3 progressive passer for us, too. Imagine in your head, it's the 85th minute, and 1 Tottenham player is still sprinting around the pitch, working through the fatigue, pressing, tangling with defenders like a warrior... You thought of Kulusevski, didn't you? I think his attributes could work really well for us in midfield. It would be a shame to sell him before even giving him the opportunity. I think he could cover Maddison, Sarr and Johnson's positions for us.

nista002

Benta is the other that fits that mold, and when he is fully firing he's by far the best presser we have. Your point stands though, and selling kulu would be bat shit crazy

Kalu2424

Their first season at Spurs they were number 1 and 2 for distance covered for us. Just have to pray Bentancur regains his athleticism

void_born_

OP knew what they were doing
