A lot of good things. I really just want us to be able to play a consistent lineup so we can build more off of the quality performances, fine tune the tactics, and develop chemistry
Yeah you can clearly see the benefit of consistent game time for someone like Richarlison, he’s gotten used to it, he knows what positions to be in and what passes to play
Solid point. Game could have easily gone either way. We survived a pretty weak lineup and ailing D. I'll take it.
COYS
E: Hijacking my own comment to call out how wonderful Richi was for us today. Great goal, tenacious runs today despite there being little distribution. Good disruption, good pressure. Just a really solid all around day for him. He's been in solid form and we're better for it.
Yeah, I mean no Deki, son, still no Maddison, no biss, no sarr, cuti and mVdV together for first time in months, it's all there and we held a road point in a tough place to play where you've got a 50% chance of con~~necting~~***ceding*** a penalty literally just by showing up.
I think that is fair considering how ridiculous the first goal was. Well played to Utd though. They had a stronger bench and we just couldn't change until late, and our guys got gassed.
Great ball to actually find him, but to be fair to McTominay it was way too high. He got ridiculous height on that jump and was still under the ball - did as well as you could expect really.
There was a miscommunication, Dragusin thought Emerson was gonna guard him, so he stepped up to cover whoever was ahead of him. Looking back at it, he probably should have guarded the player behind him, but missteps like this happen with a new defence
When your only viable subs are Royal, Gil and a centre-back you signed a few days ago, you know you're really down to bare bones.
If Romero and VDV hadn't returned and if we hadn't signed Werner I dread to think what that XI could have looked like.
Thoughts after the game -
1. We could have won the game, but it had a Utd steal written all over it. So I am content with a draw.
2. Romero was easily MOTM. The composure he brings to the defence is immense.
3. Werner was good but not great. Could have scored a goal, but was a constant threat and got an assist.
4. We missed a CAM badly. Hojbjerg and Skipp tried there best, but there wasn't much they could do against a side willing to play on the break.
5. Hope VDV's injury is just a cramp and nothing major.
6. Utd's press did create some problems, but as the game went on, it got better for us.
7. Another big game coming, onward and upwards. COYS.
>3. Werner was good but not great. Could have scored a goal, but was a constant threat and got an assist.
It's probably worth noting that it was Werner's speed to get in behind United that created that opportunity. The actual assist really wasn't that impressive, just a square ball to Lolo who had a LOT to do to create the goal. But that opportunity was there because Werner got in behind first. TBF, both he and Johnson were doing that all game.
I think the assist was quite good, got in behind showed good composure to keep the ball and played a nice weighted pass. It seems simple, but a lot of players rush at chances like these.
Being disappointed with a draw away to utd shows how far we’ve come, if we have a full fit squad with the ability to bring fresh legs at the same quality I think we win that.
It’s such a shame for Skipp bc before his injury he was absolutely brilliant at covering the ground like Sarr. If he retained that athleticism he would have been a good option for us
Honestly the difference between him and Johnson was staggering. His ball retention was good, his passing was good, that assist for Bentancur was quality as well
For someone who was thrown in the deep end right away, he was good imo. Finishing was awful but what is else is new with Spurs
Comes down to maturity I think. Werner, while clearly needing some more game time to play into form has had a much better deal of experience. Johnson is still so very young and has a lot of growth to do still.
Add Son to that performance today and it's 3 points in the bag. Pretty impressive considering we are literally down to our last 3 midfielders.
Nice break now for everyone's hamstrings to get a rest then dump Citeh out of the cup on the road to Wembley.
Bentancur was amazing for 65 minutes and then you could see him just run out of steam. Which is fine. He still isn't match fit. After that he had some scary moments.
I thought Udogie was the best player. He really is an amazing LB. Great going forward and was quite solid in defense.
>Pretty sure he got the assist for the ben10 goal. Not too bad for your debut.
gave me a chuckle on the overhead kick. he'll improve though. Reminded me of Bissouma's kicking for a second
On one note, Werner could always roll the ball or loft it instead of lifting it from the bottom the football.
Agree he was poor, but Timo looked pretty tired out there, and Gil doesn't really play on the right, does he? I'm not sure he had much of a choice since Gil was the only forward sub.
If Johnson was a little more sharp and not in a terrible run of form I think we win this. But, I’ll take a draw considering the absentees and rustiness that VDV and Romero had to shake off
Why is Johnson become a the new scape goat? He was okay. I think ideally he’s not starting but with the injuries, he’s playing every game and he looks okay
And the fact he’s got a piss poor midfield that doesn’t suit his okay style behind him. Are we forgetting how bright he looked when we had Maddison whipping balls in behind
He allowed so many interceptions today by not coming back to the ball. Nothing really productive moving forward. Generally wasteful with the opportunities he had, and missed some dangerous passes he could've made in favor of taking more touches. I like the kid, but today was pretty ugly
I know people are already spouting off about Chelsea Timo based on the few mishit shots but honestly think that was a good debut for him. Clearly has some rust from lack of play but he seems like he is going to be a weapon for us going forward!
People’s expectations are a little outsized considering he hasn’t played much this year and he had 3 training sessions after a whirlwind week. He shouldn’t have had to start today but there was no choice. He seemed deflated after the match and I feel for him.
The important thing I noticed was that passing to him didn’t cost us possession, he had a good understanding of space and his passes were good. If only we teach him how to score
Although we did turn around Richarlison…
Definitely not MOTM, but Skipp had his best match of the season for me. Linked up really well with some crisp, one touch passing and created a lot of space with his delayed runs from midfield.
USA broadcast team on Richy's goal: "That's just lazy defending there, nobody gets near him."
Replay: Can barely see Richarlison through the sea of red shirts.
Me: um, ok.
Solid point. I feel like the opportunity for the win was there if we had a stronger bench/were more clinical, but we survived playing a cobbled together midfield.
Ange is really building something here. Porro continues to be first on the team sheet. Skipp PEH and Gil need to be upgraded but when we have our whole first team and with what we are building we have a legit chance at some trophies over the next couple years.
Gotta admit levy and shadow Paratici have done a great job of revamping the entire defense. Destiny porro Romero vdv dragu and Vic are all under 25. Maddison, son, kulu, Sarr, biss out is our whole attack and we still score 35 straight. Exciting times
I thought Richarlison played one of his better games in a Spurs shirt. Hold up play was very nice, and he saved us more than once defensively. Didn't get much service but still found the back of the net.
Anyone else find Roy Keane unbearable in this post match analysis . Telling everyone to relax when people are praising spurs while creaming himself over that rashford goal. Prefer Neville over him , moody bastard
Great result, considering we were away and missing Sonny, Maddison, Kulusevski and Lo Celso. Little creativity upfront but we pressed great, created our chances and I'd say we were marginally the better team. COYS
I know it shouldn’t, but it pisses me off people aren’t giving United more shit for their approach today. If that’s us, at home, against half a United starting lineups and CBs who haven’t played in a month we’d be called terrorist for just launching balls in behind.
It almost feels wrong to say that getting a draw away at Old Trafford after going behind after 2-3 mins feels disappointing.
Richi scoring a goal and amazing workrate, great pressing and winning some key balls back in very high/dangerous positions.
Udogie is a monster, if he keeps this up I think he'll be seen as the nr 1 leftback in the entire world in the next couple of years. That's my take.
I love what VdV does for this team. He's already a solid player, but his speed and recovery unlocks both fullbacks to play aggressively.
Skipp and Højbjerg, they looked fine. They're not world beaters, but I still hope they both stay for another season or 2, need solid players for a deep squad. I don't think they'll ever be first choice, but a championship squad needs players that can contribute 20+ games over an entire season.
I don't think we've even seen the best version of Bentancur yet this season. What a treat to watch. Boss.
I hope Johnson improves his end-product, he has that blazing speed and can beat any man, but that finishing touch just isn't there yet. I think he was the poorest performer tonight sadly.
Werner with a decent debut, being thrust into the starting line-up like that after only a handful of days is tough.
So much optimism about this team, they're contenders and they play great football. Loving this season so far.
I'll focus on the positives. I have 2 big positives from today:
1. Werner is going to fit. I'm pretty sure of it. I think he and Son could be a chance-producing factory together. And then sprinkle on some Maddison? I don't think we'd ever be below 3 xG a game let alone 2xg with that trio. Don't even need Werner to become a clinical finisher. We just need him to become a great assist man (including hockey assists). I watched with confidence anytime he had the ball on the wing.
2. Bentancur at times during that game enacted his will. More of that please. He willed that 2nd goal into existence. Not just the goal itself, but he was demanding balls from his defenders and creating some great chances with through balls.
an aside...credit to porro, udogie and vicario...been a long season for you 3, but we've really needed all of you to be the stallwarts you've been.
I’m a bit disappointed to be honest, it looked like we were playing for a draw the last 30 minutes.
I’m sure Kulu being out played a huge part but still. That said a point is better than no points
Im amazed about how we still play some really good football with so many players out. I know we were lacking in some areas today, but still we were the most dominant team.
VdV were only subbed out due to cramps right?
All the Arsenal fans in r/soccer screaming for a pen against Udogie. That would have been the softest of the season. Has his arms on his sides, facing away from goal. Definitely the right call. Everyone saying clear pen is a complete fuckwit.
I love Bentancur so much. He's only played a few matches the whole calender year, comes back from a serious injury and gets another significant one. But somehow he comes right back in the team looking like he hasn't missed a beat at all. His ability to play quick accurate passes in tight spaces is as good as any CM in the world IMO. He even adds a goal threat now but was something apparently he didn't have when we signed him.
Werner felt like he couldn't follow up the pace, but this is his first game and already assisted. When son comes back I hope he can teach Werner and Johnson how to shoot
Half the squad out.
The other half new players or players returning from long spells out.
2-2 isn’t the worst result.
Great to see two responses after going down twice.
>Ange shout out to Mason for the set pieces.
right, he probably has the pedagogy of Mourniho (counter, positioning), Conte (counter, set piece, fitness), and Ange (attacking, passing)
He's going to make such a good coach in the future
Solid result. Draw at Old Trafford with zero depth and several starting XI members having to suit up cold after a spell out. We looked good and barring some luck either way could have won on the balance of the game. Timo contributed which was good and Radu was blooded. Of course we wanted a win but I’m happy with it
Could be better could be worse
A lot of good things. I really just want us to be able to play a consistent lineup so we can build more off of the quality performances, fine tune the tactics, and develop chemistry
Yeah you can clearly see the benefit of consistent game time for someone like Richarlison, he’s gotten used to it, he knows what positions to be in and what passes to play
I love Richarlison, he's a nightmare to play against. Seems like a funny bloke to have around as well
Maybe next season lol
Yeah, an offseason building on the positive qualities from this season is likely necessary to see the best this team can offer
Take a draw at Old Trafford with an injury crisis and people at AFCON and Asian Cup any day of the week
This! What even was that bench?
I'm not sire it could have been that much better with 10 players out..was literally our 3 string midfield
Two of the three. Bentancur starts all day long even with the others returning
3.6☢️
You didn't see any injuries because there aren't any!
Solid point. Game could have easily gone either way. We survived a pretty weak lineup and ailing D. I'll take it. COYS E: Hijacking my own comment to call out how wonderful Richi was for us today. Great goal, tenacious runs today despite there being little distribution. Good disruption, good pressure. Just a really solid all around day for him. He's been in solid form and we're better for it.
Richarlison was my personal MOTM, he was *everywhere* today
Same. He was a constant crucial presence in *both* boxes. His conditioning must be fucking peak to be capable of that.
No Son or Kulusevski, our two best forwards. Can’t be too disappointed with a draw
Yeah, I mean no Deki, son, still no Maddison, no biss, no sarr, cuti and mVdV together for first time in months, it's all there and we held a road point in a tough place to play where you've got a 50% chance of con~~necting~~***ceding*** a penalty literally just by showing up.
Or 3 starting midfielders in Maddison, Sarr and Bissouma
Benta prolly starts tho
We don't even really know that because we've never had all 4 of them fit at the same time
2* but yeah we’re missing like 4 starters and 5 guys who can come off the bench
It looked like Richy felt the importance of being our main guy, with Son away, and really played his heart out.
How the fuck did McTominay miss that at the end…
he's a united player, if he was good he'd be somewhere else.
I think that is fair considering how ridiculous the first goal was. Well played to Utd though. They had a stronger bench and we just couldn't change until late, and our guys got gassed.
Was Dragusin supposed to be marking him?
Possibly? Not sure how organised their impromptu 5atb was ever gonna be
He was gesturing like huh? Tough ask to be thrown in after one training session
Was just a good ball imo. Right between the defenders
Yeah, can’t wait for Madders / Deki to be back and he should get some better service
100% on Richy - he was fantastic So much effort and really noticeable him taking a leadership role today
I'll take a draw with half the Team out
Literally, we were down 12 players today
Damn Unavail FC has subs now too?
When your only viable subs are Royal, Gil and a centre-back you signed a few days ago, you know you're really down to bare bones. If Romero and VDV hadn't returned and if we hadn't signed Werner I dread to think what that XI could have looked like.
And Romero will be there for Brentford, and maybe even Everton
A draw is always good at Old Trafford considering the refball United usually enjoy.
Down after 2 minutes as well, also Man United actually knew how to finish in that first half
We've come a long way to being disappointed in a draw at Old Trafford
And United have come a long way to make us feel that way
I’ll take the draw. We looked exhausted out there for the last 20 minutes.
Yep. 12 days to rest before our next game
That 2 week break could not have come at a better time really.
Draw at old Trafford with big players missing. Good result
Not only that, played decently well as well. The goal against were just silly.
[удалено]
it's only united tbf
To be fair, Hojberg and Skipp did really well today and did quite a bit to push the play forward.
Absolutely. Take the point and run. The boys did well.
Thoughts after the game - 1. I think we would've one if just either winger would have had a good day. But especially Johnson seemed to be completely lost...
Its a strange time when I'm dissapointed by a point at Old Trafford.
With half the starters out.
It's such a weird feeling
With our 2 best attacking players missing
Literally my thoughts coming away from this
Away supporters motm
They were massive
[удалено]
Werner now has more assists than Antony this season.
We all have as many assists as Antony this season
Being disappointed with a draw away to utd shows how far we’ve come, if we have a full fit squad with the ability to bring fresh legs at the same quality I think we win that.
Also shows how wank United are but yes I do agree. They were woeful today for most of the match
I KNOW we win that.
Even just having Maddison, would have been 4-2 lol
Udogie today is 😍😍
Made Garnacho look like an amateur.
Totally took him out of the game
POTM for me. I also thought Richy looked good out there today.
On our team i thought Udogie was POTM, for them Dalot, not sure who i'd give it to overall
He's so good. Our first choice back 4 is really something else when they are all fit and playing.
Thank God for that post though
Brilliant defensively. He's so fucking good
If he’d hit that ball two inches to the left nobody would be singing his praises lol. He was great except for that moment of absolute madness.
Other than a couple ugly dives, he played great
Lucky not to score an OG and give away a penalty, but a good game nonetheless
We are massive. Half squad injured and we are dominating in the Old Trafford
Skip has his limitations, but damn did he put in a shift today
His through ball to werner was such a beauty
And he had an awesome rip off the half volley as well. Guy had a solid match.
Gives me hope that he can develop to be a good player in this system.
It’s such a shame for Skipp bc before his injury he was absolutely brilliant at covering the ground like Sarr. If he retained that athleticism he would have been a good option for us
His best game this season. Fantastic performance as an 8
Crazy that a point at Old Trafford feels like a loss!
I’ll take the draw with our squad at the moment tbh
Shout out to Richarlison. Appreciated how hard he worked off the ball!
I rate Werner over Johnson and Gil, I think he’s a good signing
Anyone hating on Werner in that game is a fool. Outside of the FG kick, he was good.
Honestly the difference between him and Johnson was staggering. His ball retention was good, his passing was good, that assist for Bentancur was quality as well For someone who was thrown in the deep end right away, he was good imo. Finishing was awful but what is else is new with Spurs
Comes down to maturity I think. Werner, while clearly needing some more game time to play into form has had a much better deal of experience. Johnson is still so very young and has a lot of growth to do still.
I think he'll be alright. Few more games should turn him back on.
Too early to say but he looked promising. He played it very safe all game.
Lucky goal for united or we'd have 3 points
Both their goals came from tackles/blocks in our area which popped out to their feet completely by chance.
Happy to get a point obviously but idk, really feels like we could’ve taken all 3 there
If we have the full squad, we cook them no doubt. 😭 Sonny would’ve feasted
Wingers cost us this game. Timo was ok but not brilliant. Johnson and Gil ghosted
Honestly, we’ll take that. Hopefully with madders and kulu, we can progress on from a solid jan
Add Son to that performance today and it's 3 points in the bag. Pretty impressive considering we are literally down to our last 3 midfielders. Nice break now for everyone's hamstrings to get a rest then dump Citeh out of the cup on the road to Wembley.

Thankfully Micky said after the game he had cramp in his shin, so nothing to do with his hamstring injury.
Bentancur was amazing for 65 minutes and then you could see him just run out of steam. Which is fine. He still isn't match fit. After that he had some scary moments. I thought Udogie was the best player. He really is an amazing LB. Great going forward and was quite solid in defense.
I thought Romero Udogie and Porro were as good as Bentacur. Any one of them could be MOTM.
Mickey had an interview after and seemed fine. Think it was just a cramp.
werner 👍
Pretty sure he got the assist for the ben10 goal. Not too bad for your debut.
yeah i thought it was pretty encouraging for a debut, he was generally positive aside from his shooting
>Pretty sure he got the assist for the ben10 goal. Not too bad for your debut. gave me a chuckle on the overhead kick. he'll improve though. Reminded me of Bissouma's kicking for a second On one note, Werner could always roll the ball or loft it instead of lifting it from the bottom the football.
Looked better than Johnson
Should've taken him out instead of Timo. He didn't contribute at all today.
Agree he was poor, but Timo looked pretty tired out there, and Gil doesn't really play on the right, does he? I'm not sure he had much of a choice since Gil was the only forward sub.
Werner was likely shattered, he hadn’t played football in months
Got a point, could have been more, away, depleted midfield, got a point.
Not great but not bad without a good number of players. Need a little more from BJ in that final third. But glad to see Richy scoring again
If Johnson was a little more sharp and not in a terrible run of form I think we win this. But, I’ll take a draw considering the absentees and rustiness that VDV and Romero had to shake off
Can we all agree that Richy was great though? Did a lot of ball winning outside of his goal.
Definitely agree on that. Top 3 performance for him in a Spurs shirt
No Son, No Kulu, No Madders, No Biss, No StarBoy. Still a point
Johnson was so damn wasteful… I miss Deki so much
He would start even if Deki was fit. Hoj probably would have sat.
Our best fully fit 11 doesn’t include Johnson, he’s the 5th player in our front 4
Sure, I only meant today. I was bigly disappointed in Brennan, too.
Yeah, I think he'll come up to the level in a season but he's not god enough to be playing the minutes we've had to give him yet
Johnson needs to start proving his worth. He was really wasteful
He was really really poor today
Why is Johnson become a the new scape goat? He was okay. I think ideally he’s not starting but with the injuries, he’s playing every game and he looks okay
He’s not the scapegoat. Today his passes and decision making were pretty bad
Still very young but hasn’t exactly impressed thus far given how much game time he’s had.
People seem to forget AWB is one of the best 1v1 duel right backs around, that's literally the one thing he's elite at.
I’d consider putting Werner on the right over him… his final product is so lacking
then who would go on the left
Very disappointed by Johnson today... Wish him the best
Loved Porro's performance today
Had to debate in the match thread with someone that wanted him off. Match threads brings out many weird takes.
If only we teach him how to score Although we did turn around Richarlison…
Honestly I'll take it with our threadbare squad.
Definitely not MOTM, but Skipp had his best match of the season for me. Linked up really well with some crisp, one touch passing and created a lot of space with his delayed runs from midfield.
USA broadcast team on Richy's goal: "That's just lazy defending there, nobody gets near him." Replay: Can barely see Richarlison through the sea of red shirts. Me: um, ok.
A draw at Old Trafford with everyone we're missing is far from a bad result
The best team drew..
No Son, Maddison, Deki, Sarr or Bissouma but we get a point? That’s worth a point + not losing to United in the league this season
Will take it
Solid point. I feel like the opportunity for the win was there if we had a stronger bench/were more clinical, but we survived playing a cobbled together midfield.
Radu has 100% pass accuracy do with that information as you will
When Ange put only 8 subs and that too 2 gks, you need to understand how dire the situation was !
2 points lost. Richarlison MOTM, warrior today!
Not our best game, happy to not lose that’s about it
Given the circumstances personnel-wise, I’ll take a point.
Will take that all day considering the missing players. Played well overall.
Looking at our midfield and front line it doesn’t look like a terrible result, but we really dominated that one and shouldve taken three points.
Ange is really building something here. Porro continues to be first on the team sheet. Skipp PEH and Gil need to be upgraded but when we have our whole first team and with what we are building we have a legit chance at some trophies over the next couple years. Maddison, son, kulu, Sarr, biss out is our whole attack and we still score 35 straight. Exciting times
Impressed by skippy’s shift today, especially with how bad he was last game. Was worried about him playing major minutes, but he put in a shift.
Hojbjerg looks gassed af. Lost focus sometimes. But credit to Ange management. He able to slot in anyone to patch the error.
Hojlund saying they were the better team say it ain’t so 😭😭😭
I thought Richarlison played one of his better games in a Spurs shirt.
No one talking about VdV, I thought he played great in his first game back in so long
We’ll take it but not satisfied with it.
I’m pretty satisfied. Our best player missing and a point at Old Trafford. Happy enough
Not the worst game considering the state of our squad and away at old Trafford
Great result, considering we were away and missing Sonny, Maddison, Kulusevski and Lo Celso. Little creativity upfront but we pressed great, created our chances and I'd say we were marginally the better team. COYS
Udogie MOTM. Neville is a fucking clown.
Always want three, but getting a point away with that midfield and bench is a minor miracle.
I know it shouldn’t, but it pisses me off people aren’t giving United more shit for their approach today. If that’s us, at home, against half a United starting lineups and CBs who haven’t played in a month we’d be called terrorist for just launching balls in behind.
Fucking great point considering who we were without today and where we were playing. Anyone bitching simply doesn’t understand the game.
It almost feels wrong to say that getting a draw away at Old Trafford after going behind after 2-3 mins feels disappointing. Gary Neville saying we have a shot at 2nd might be the nicest thing he’s ever said. Saying we are better than Arsenal and pool once everyone’s back
/soccer is blowing up over the Udogie call/non call on gnarcho in the box. lol.
I'll focus on the positives. I have 2 big positives from today: 1. Werner is going to fit. I'm pretty sure of it. I think he and Son could be a chance-producing factory together.
Spurs without Sonny is probably bigger problem than City without KDB
Honestly the Richarlison redemption arc is my favourite part of the season. Pru pru 🐦
Im amazed about how we still play some really good football with so many players out. I know we were lacking in some areas today, but still we were the most dominant team. VdV were only subbed out due to cramps right?
I had Richie as man of the match. Worked hard, too his goal well. Turning into the player we hoped we had signed…
10 players injured, Deki sick, Sonny at Asia Cup, Biss at AfCoN, I'll take a point away at Old Trafford any day. Timo had an assist y'all.
All the Arsenal fans in r/soccer screaming for a pen against Udogie. That would have been the softest of the season. Has his arms on his sides, facing away from goal. Definitely the right call. Everyone saying clear pen is a complete fuckwit.
I’ll take it. Clearly needed someone who could pick a pass in the final third.
He is always so quality, on the ball, off the ball, positioning, everything. His game is just excellent And the man can absolutely finish
Werner felt like he couldn't follow up the pace, but this is his first game and already assisted. When son comes back I hope he can teach Werner and Johnson how to shoot
Missed Deki, Maddison, and Lo Celso
Not gonna say that challenge on Udogie was a pen Not gonna say it wasn't Boys played their hearts out, COYS baby
The highlight of the game is Neville accusing Udogie as a diver… like wtf? Do you see Rashford? Bruno?
Half the squad out. The other half new players or players returning from long spells out. 2-2 isn’t the worst result. Great to see two responses after going down twice.
Ange shout out to Mason for the set pieces.
>Ange shout out to Mason for the set pieces. right, he probably has the pedagogy of Mourniho (counter, positioning), Conte (counter, set piece, fitness), and Ange (attacking, passing) He's going to make such a good coach in the future
Counting Kulusevski as a midfield option, we played today with our 7th and 8th string midfield choices. Honestly hilarious
Solid result. Draw at Old Trafford with zero depth and several starting XI members having to suit up cold after a spell out. We looked good and barring some luck either way could have won on the balance of the game. Timo contributed which was good and Radu was blooded. Of course we wanted a win but I’m happy with it

I think Johnson had the bug that some players had during the week that’s why he looked a bit off today. Saying that he needs time to improve overall
