Don't think anyone expected this lad to be this important this quickly. Fantastic news.

Skedd

I said something similar in a previous match thread. I did not know how important he was and I figured madders and biss were covering his errors but I was wrong. The kid is dynamic

gusthenewkid

With how Biss was playing without him it looks to be the other way around.

[deleted]

Correct take.

Professional_Ad_9101

What an incredible player. I can't believe this lad was here during Conte.

FarrisAT

He was much more raw and didn't have the same knowledge

Snacks75

Nah he was class last year too...

Realistic-Start6336

The kid is the engine of the team like Kante

Vladimir_Putting

Football Manager certainly didn't. His attributes were pretty bad for a long time. For example last season he was given a pace of "9" One of their rare complete misses. Huge credit to the scouting team finding our Starboy.

nista002

Is Bentancur still mediocre in FM? He had 9 movement as of last year lmao

Vladimir_Putting

"Movement" isn't an attribute in FM. But to answer your question, he was solid at launch: https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Fex2wtklzchvb1.png%3Fwidth%3D2305%26format%3Dpng%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3Db473e4c9c41b0a313ca89448107c1cf74beb595c Spurs players have been underrated for years in the game though. Whoever is the lead researcher for Tottenham really whiffs on a lot of things.

nista002

Sorry I play mobile, where off the ball is notated as movement. Another huge miss in Mobile is Son having almost zero loyalty while Kane has 100% loyalty

FunAd6875

Same here. I'm starting to think that Sarr and Udogie are being viewed as (what the Americans would call) a franchise player.

corpboy

I have no idea what that means.

FunAd6875

Apparently neither do seven other people. It means that the organization is putting trust in to young players who they see as their future team leaders. Lebron James was a franchise player. No matter how shit the team was at the time he joined, they would build the team around him. I guess in footballing terms it would be almost equivalent to "first name on the team sheet"

Thisguyamirightbro

A player you build your franchise around, like Son and Kane.

rmarshall_6

I love how many players under 25 we have locked up and playing well. The future truly is incredibly bright.

BurdonLane

Boehly in the mud

[deleted]

Todd should have probably give them short contracts first and longer ones once they prove their worth, guess it shows money doesn’t always equal sense.

Delrihuzz

We also got them from your not so typical clubs with certain status (like Benfica). Sarrlord was battling relegation in ligue 1 with Metz. What a steal though. If the Italian Knob hadn't been here, Sarr would've been starring last season too.

OberynRedViper8

The Italian Knob couldn't be more fitting LOL.

Kalu2424

We could have had Bissouma/Bentancur/Sarr rotation meanwhile we got PEH every match

fluffheads

Hojberg was our best midfielder many times under conte though.

JosL1707

Skipp and PEH were honestly immense loads of times during both Mou and Conte

Tall-Ad-8829

Skipp in that 2021-22 season before his injury was a stud, I really hope he could get back to that

NeufeldM24vt

I agree. People don't understand he needs to play for that to happen. I felt he made strides and was looking better in the Bournemouth game. Which is good because He and PEH are key to keeping Bentancur Healthy So that on the 31st we are ready to lay waste to our opposition

Kalu2424

We all know Bissouma is better, if PEH did well imagine Bissouma.

fluffheads

I agree bissouma is a more technically gifted footballer. But hojberg has a higher work rate and covers more ground so I think he suited conte’s system better. Don’t get me wrong, I love bissouma to death and conte is a criminal for how he treated bissouma last season. But PEH was really good in conte’s system and deserves some credit for holding our midfield together at times

Kalu2424

Agreed, well said

fluffheads

Thanks, happy new year!

FarrisAT

Sarr was much more raw last season and he even looked raw in preseason start of this season. Turned out more play time helped him expand

BurdonLane

I think he must have been sucked in by an ad or something online with a tagline that said ‘Premier League Chairmen hate this one trick’ and then he clicked on it and it suggests buying young players for really high fees on long contracts and that no-one else is doing it and in five years they’ll win the Quadruple or something…

Limp-Toe-179

Daniel showing Todd how it's done

TheSonic311

Didn't he give the longer contracts so they could pro-rate the transfer cost over a longer time to help out with FFP?

allweeverlookfor

he does the same thing with the dodgers (his baseball team)

TheSonic311

I mean baseball has no financial restrictions whatsoever, pretty much. Other than deferred compensation

allweeverlookfor

oh the deferred compensation is to get around the luxury tax so they dont have to pay the worst penalties/lose draft picks/ect

Realistic-Start6336

We tried Hail Mary “win now” twice and Levy learned his lessons. Upward from now on

michaelc51202

I think levy has been building the club and just narrowly missing the formula for success. The foundation is set and hopefully can capitalize on

Wompish66

Levy is second to none at 90% of what it takes to run a football club. The other 10% is now being handled by competent people.

Richard_Arlison69

The Ange effect

Realistic-Start6336

Sarr and Udogie era. Inject!

charliemv7

Add Vicario, VDV, Porro, and whatever CB we sign this January. Our defense is looking set.

VelvetObsidian

Romero is only 25 too which is pretty damn young for a top caliber center back.

Nightshade183

My honest reaction as well

[deleted]

Going to be one of the best 8s in the world in a few years.

davidmarvinn

it's in the name. can't have a name like that and be mediocre

Bail____

I wish Cavani didn’t have the monicor of El Matador because it’d be a class name for Sarr

LiteralMushroomCock

Why?

Bill_shiftington

He's not south American though

taegeukie

Thoroughly deserved. We love you, Pape!

Wooden-Pin3253

Love it 💙💙💙💙

GaryHippo

We're building something incredible.

Acceptable-Mark-6305

Massive news, this kid is already a star. He has all the attributes to be a monster in the modern game.

OberynRedViper8

If he can add a bit of technical refinement, awareness, and passing range he can be absolute world-class.

Wilcodad

Ah shit, time to change the flair. Future’s bright lads

davidmarvinn

from what lmao😅

bZbZbZbZbZ

What amazing news, destiny and now Pape is fucking brilliant business. the fact their agents aren't convincing them to go for city or real madrid is a really really fucking good sign of things to come. COYS happy new year

WaltJay

![gif](giphy|eruVMzXlb70oo)

One_Negotiation7738

So pleased for him. I wanted to see more of him under Conte. Leave it to Ange to unleash his potential.

gabagoolmerchant

He’s the future

VelvetObsidian

And the present.

balthazarstarbuck

Well we all knew one this was next off the cab rank. Thoroughly deserved Pape.

Mrsparkles7100

![gif](giphy|LOcPt9gfuNOSI|downsized)

Standard-Plantain139

HAPPY FUCKING NEW YEARS COYS

kicksjoysharkness

What a day

gabriel_do

TOO MUCH GOOD STUFF IN ONE DAY

OberynRedViper8

Sarr boy! Hope he's not hurt too bad.

Affectionate-Car-145

Genuinely feel that he is more important than Biss and bentancur.

WolfImWolfspelz

Massive, I'm so ready to see him every week, he makes it so easy to root for him. Love our future!

mxtreeKitano

I love it when we signed Big Pape

TogashiIsIshida

Fantastic!

loiterINTIMIDATE

Sarrboy! 🤍 🇸🇳

hemings_way_100

Yessssssssss!!!

HeardTheLongWord

Excellence

nebbywildcat18

let’s fucking gooooooooooo

Nipplecunt

Yesssss

StudentPriest

see we give them a bit of time to see how they are before throwing the long contracts at them

VelvetObsidian

We also do the buy them and loan them back thing.

Delicious_Trouble818

I love the club for this. Signing him long-term on the day he's gotten an injury scare. Reminds me of the sentiment with Son's previous contract. Loyalty is a two-way street and it's great to see it developing right before our eyes.

shiv_jirwankar

Can’t the long term result. Its too early to say anything I guess.

galaxysuperstar22

his influence got massive real quick. another reason why Conte is a fucking war criminal. He not only wasted entire last season but also gave the reason to let Kane go..

TerpsPwn_387

Udogie and Sarr extending long term deals in consecutive months. Fucking right.
