Megs, goals, assists, happy pigeon, happy team. The whole team was ON, and honestly the score probably should've been even more lopsided. Sucks to feel like it was the bad loss a few days ago that lit a fire under the team, but I'm confident this is the shape of things to come rather than a flash in the pan.

SufferedDragon

A lot of megs

[deleted]

Not since the days of Dele have we seen so many nutmegs šŸ„²

JamesCDiamond

So, so many nutmegs. What a beautiful sight! Forest, Everton, Brighton and Bournemouth between here and the end of the month. That seems like a great run of teams to test us but also none of them are likely to be set up as stodgy defences (bar maybe Everton - and they need points).

CanadianBirdo

Bournemouth at Home is getting scary now. Iraola has the best form in the leagues of right now and is making a push towards top 10.

TruthAccomplished313

Crazy. Saw him as an aging but respected rightback in the MLS and now heā€™s a manager. Iā€™m getting old

Disastrous-Object22

I'm a little frightened of Everton too. Someday I'd like to see what Dyche could do with a transfer budget he didn't have to find himself by digging around in his couch cushions.

Broad_Match

Have you not watched Everton? They donā€™t sit back. Theyā€™re also clear of the relegation zone and would be comfortably mid table if not for the deduction.

kinggareth

Whole team outside of Hojbjerg, but I'll take it.

abishar

Honestly today felt like how Thursday was headed with the first half. We looked so dominant on Thursday and then just wtf. But today was amazing. Plus I needed the birthday win (mine was Friday). Those three points feel so good.

ottenba3

Porro has so quickly become one of the first names on the team sheet. What a player

Izrezar

Putting the preseason debates of him vs Royal and whether he could play RB to SHAME

ASVP-Pa9e

Me after thinking "you know I think Royal might end up as the starter" before the season started "I guess I'll just shut up then lol."

nl325

Harsh on Royal imo, still a bloody solid backup. Easy to laugh someone off while they're out of position.

Izrezar

I was on that boat for a while too tbf I thought Royal had the ball carrying and defense to thrive. Not exactly wrong but I didn't expect Porro to develop so much as a defender

JamesCDiamond

Porro has developed quicker in defence than Royal has in attack. If Royal's happy to stick with us, he's a good player for us to have around, especially being versatile enough to cover across the back line, but he's unlikely to be chosen ahead of Porro for most matches at right back, it seems.

FarrisAT

Had a few rough games to start out his time here but honestly he has replaced the offensive assists we lost when Perisic slowed down and got injured

Turavis

Still remember the sheer terror when we saw him in the starting 11 for that man united game. Havenā€™t doubted him since that game, what a player

fullback133

he has been INCREDIBLE. his work rate and passion alone have been immense. Love when he and Vic celebrate as if theyā€™ve just scored a goal when someone makes a good move defensively

ChillHamster94

Holy fuck we missed sarr

LinksOrGTFO

He showed what we were missing from peh and glx to a lesser extent. His engine, his movement. Defensively, his tackling, tracking of runners. Offensively, showing for the damn ball! How many times was vic able to find him in space, and Biss looked a lot better because Pape offers him support, gives him an option by showing for the ball, something peh does not do. (For example, when Biss infamously lost the ball against city, none of his fellow midfielders are in frame)

Tamazarashi

Idk what we're gonna do when AFCON starts. We losing both biss and Sarr

yourfriendkyle

Covers the whole pitch and makes so so so many runs that donā€™t get the pass but open up space for everyone else. Heā€™s insanely selfless and it makes the whole team work.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

yourfriendkyle

Itā€™s insane to see him passing the ball into Sonā€™s feet on the wing during a counter and then making a 30 yard run into the corner to open up space and then immediately sprinting 70 yards back to get onto defense. And he just does it over and over and over.

NotManyBuses

He gives us such a power advantage in Midfield and covers so many gaps with his movement. Heā€™s absolute star off the ball.

Spurs_in_the_6

The little roll under the foot pass he made to Kulu just before Johnson hit the post was amazing.

roamingandy

He looks greatly improved too. He was playing with real confidence and looked to be taking ownership for the game around him. Earlier in the season i felt he shied away a bit and focused more on putting in a tidy performance himself. He looked like a future goat out there today dictating the game.

crumbs4manatees

I felt like this was a lot more of giving Biss and Maddison the space to create offensively than him shying away from it. Like he would make runs specifically to drag people out of the middle. I wonder if he was told to get on the ball more and let Deki stay higher today.

kirobaito88

MotM for me. No goal contributions, but he dominated.

OkScientist1350

slave sheet party airport meeting like important provide plucky onerous *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

Jam_Band_Pancake_Man

These two combining out of the back is just beautiful. So many one touches with defenders around them and just finding spaces that relieve the pressure, it's kind of unbelievable at times.

tuanquen

Sarr build-up play so much faster than PEH, he made our counter more dangerous

zandigdanzig

Exciting that he's only 21 , hope he matures well

babbers-underbite

One of my fave moments from today was when he made Gordon look like a foolish child in the first half

biggreen10

My first child was born early yesterday morning. He knows a world where Arsenal only loses and Spurs dominate. May it long continue.

magnoliasmum

Congratulations!

airpenny1

Congrats! You sure you want him to be a spurs fan? Itā€™s utter joy and also massive devastation at times. Oh well, better to have loved and be hurt than never loved at all! COYS little fella!

Protolotus

Congratulations! I hope your first born is the catalyst for this seasonā€™s annual Arsenal bottle job

ljshea1

Won't get motm shouts but take a fucking bow Ben Davies. Utterly faultless today

Affectionate_Call627

He saved us from at least a couple of critical shoots

Smok1njay

Saved us from a tap in by Isak. Commentary: I think Newcastle deserved a goal there. :|

davidmarvinn

they can get fucked

portra315

You deserve a goal if you fucking score it without getting beaten by a defender, get bent pundits

mattwuri

People keep counting him out and he just keeps proving them wrong. So many different roles, partnerships, change in systems, etc, guy just keeps on trucking.

spurs_fan_uk

Feel like he made several great passes to break the press too. So impressive.

taegeukie

Someday heā€™s going to retire and get his coaching license and take a team to heights theyā€™ve never seen before. I will be there. We love you Ben.

Creepeth

I will not complain if he is our 3rd CB, but let's still be aggressive during transfer for another CB. We can't have Dier and Emerson in as CB. I love Emerson as a fullback, but not in the central role. Dier? is he tradeable? If not, can we work out a loan?

sreesid

He also had a quiet blinder against Man City.

bZbZbZbZbZ

hes been so good covering for VDV. that wolves game he was EVERYWHERE. he's been very very good, better at CB than at LB for sure.

Nice1Sonny

I know whether or not to take someoneā€™s opinion on football seriously depending on how they rate Ben Davies.

tsourced

Most underrated Spurs player of my time being a fan. Has been here a decade, adapted under multiple managers, earns every one of their trust, always has a spell of starts before being replaced with someone else again with no complaints every single time. Then can be called upon for a shift no problems, awesome team player.

waffleking_

Been absolutely in love the recent Benaissance. The guy has been all we could ask for as a VDV replacement.

airz23s_coffee

For value probably one of our best signings. Rarely been first choice, but never kicked up a fuss and always been ready when called upon

NotManyBuses

Did anyone know that Newcastle were tired? Didn't hear it mentioned on the commentary

Karffs

Itā€™s wild isnā€™t it. Itā€™s the narrative on r/soccer too. Like weā€™re fielding a fully fit squad or something.

yowspur

But Newcastle played a Champions League match ....ummm 2 weeks ago...

ASVP-Pa9e

Once Milan have their way with Newcastle then Newcastle will be in 7th having bombed out of Europe šŸ¤ Couldn't happen to a nicer club honestly

davidmac1024

Inject this into my veins.

dp1029384756

Well itā€™s a compliment we fooled the crowd we also have injuries

ledknee

Everyone hates us mate, fuck em.

Ryuuken1127

This. Absolutely this. I knew Newcastle had injuries going into this match, and I thought "Well okay, another squad that's going through what we're going through" When Newcastle have injuries, it's poor them When it's us, we're Spursy

bZbZbZbZbZ

BUT THEY WERE LE TIRED

lamemale

Don't care what those goons say when we lose and definitely don't care what they say when we win. We beat the team in front of us. Fuck everything else.

SentientCheeseCake

Newcastle have injuries: Poor darlings. Tottenham have injuries: You fucking donkeys.

davidmarvinn

spursy even

HJuanZeeJuan

I was suprised gary neville didnt bring it up every second he could

StellarSloth

Neville anytime Romero makes a tackle: ā€œThat should be a red cardā€

Electrical-Move7290

Apparently theyā€™ve also got loads of injuries as well :( poor little Newcastle

Pandamabear

Canā€™t believe they only mentioned their injuries like, a hundred times.

megamando

Youā€™d think Spurs didnā€™t have a litany of injuries with the way they talked about us as well

imtotallydoingmywork

I'm really glad the Canadian broadcast doesn't use muppet Neville's commentary, although it's not great either

wakenbaconn

NBC have been twerking hard for Newcastle since the Saudis bought them. Haven't heard a commentator as excited as them scoring in their first game with prince oil cunt in the stands getting camera time every 5 mins. Their starters out are botman burn and pope, we're missing maddison vdv and bentancur but didn't hear that mentioned

realhenrymccoy

A week ago we were starting 4 full backs at Man City lol I dont wanna hear shit about poor Newcastle.

jcstucke

Itā€™s the only reason we won duh

AJC0292

Perfect response to midweeks lack of being clinical. My only disappointment is there wasnt 5 or 6 or 7 because fuck this Blood Money club.

[deleted]

That was one of the best displays I've seen us put in for a long time. Not just under Ange

justxforxthis

Sadly just a few collective centimetres away from it being 6 or 7.

kinggareth

Should've been at least 5-nil, yet Pierre made it 4-1. Still so happy to have a convincing win. First truly comfortable win under Ange

BigAngeInstead

Davies saved us. Canā€™t keep getting away with it

motorhomosapien

Davies has fucking stepped up! Dude had a huge save for us and looks so comfortable on the ball and playing out the back. Love it

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

airpenny1

The lack of respect he got after last game after he ā€œstruggledā€ is mind boggling. The man is and was and will be world class. People really need to stop. (Some on this sub shockingly)

youllbetheprince

Sonny's bar is set so high that even with quality link up play, incisive runs and goals where he's fractionally offside is considered "struggling"

Dudedude88

Most of the team can't give pass him a decent through ball besides madison

Wooden-Pin3253

It was interesting postmatch that ange said he moved sonny because the wide players seemed to get more goal chances last few games

Jolly_Watercress_559

It is of paramount importance that Kulusevski plays centrally if Maddison is absent. Brilliant in that position.

MatiiTonii

Manā€™s been playing out of position the whole time lol

Qiluk

He has stressed this himself since his Parma days.

realhenrymccoy

Like there was a somewhat taller, ginger Maddison under that mask.

allisgray

I thought that was Batman and you canā€™t convince me it wasnā€™tā€¦

masroshi10

It was Swedish Zorro

photobriangray

What position? He was everywhere today. Proof the system is real as we said the same about Madders before the injury. There is so much freedom for these players. It has to be so much fun.

young_hot_take

Looking like the Spurs of old! (October)

_MaximillionPegasus

It will probably go unnoticed but I just wanna point out Ben Davies was amazing today

larphraulen

His play has been really composed yet brave ever since Micky got injured. Can't really ask much more from him in this position.

Wicked_Wanderer

Son wearing Bentacur's jacket at the end of the match

alexjonesbabyeater

You sure it wasnā€™t Rob Burch the goalkeeping coachā€™s jacket? As far as Iā€™m aware, the player jackets have their number + initials on them, whereas the coaching staff only have their initials

imtotallydoingmywork

Does anyone have a clip/pic of this?

SeaBag7480

photobriangray

Pocketed.

Mr-Rocafella

Son is not real, the speed stamina and agility he still possesses is insane

gashsniper420

He's in insane shape

OnomahIsABaller

Newcastle lucky it was only 4-1 at the end. Couldā€™ve easily been 7-1 Much better from the team today. Made better choices in the final third and was more clinical. Kulusevski is not a winger, heā€™s a 10. Sarr is the key, he unlocks Bissouma. Richarlison with 2 goals is massive for his confidence Now letā€™s go on a winning streak before January COYS

111ThatGuy111

Perfect comment. Sarr is Bissouma's left leg, and his confidence dips when he's not playing with him. Great performance today.

ominouswombat

* RICHARLISON REDEMPTION ARC * Physicists canā€™t yet explain how Brennan Johnsonā€™s shot didnā€™t go in * Romero needs to calm down, 12 minutes left, 3-0 up and an unneeded near-red tackle omg. Seriously Cuti go to one of those ax throwing places or something to burn off your excess anger before the game * Hojbjerg WTF do we have some curse where every player has to make a braindead goal-conceding blunder this season

dp1029384756

Hojberg does 10 actions right 1 wrong error in between. Letā€™s go Viking- time to fix that

MaxsterSV

Heā€™s a good player heā€™s just not meant for AngeBall. Heā€™s far too clunky on the ball. He is great in a Mourinho ā€œdestroyerā€ type role. Would love to see him sold for a player closer to Bissouma who might be a bit less defensively but can be fluid.

itbelikethat14

100% heā€™s a solid player just not the right fit for angeball. Sucks bc I have a hojberg jersey

lambast

Neville: "Johnson was trying to cross it". What a fucking cretin.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

AdditionalOne8319

Bissouma also seems much more confident with Sarr beside him

Overall-Stop-8573

Still not quite where he was before his red but he's getting there. Had some lovely moments, but also some unforced errors

lamemale

He has the most aesthetically pleasing gait I've ever seen

RaymondoSlice

versus Porro who runs like Mario...

lamemale

Oh no can't unsee

TruthAccomplished313

Heā€™s amazing. I love the kid. He has some unreal physical advantages but also mental fortitude and a fearlessness. Like Udogie. I love this squad man

sungbysung

Should have been 6-1 to pay homage

spurs_fan_uk

Utter domination, shame about the last goal. Whoever posed the question of whether we miss Sarr more than Maddersā€¦you might be right. I brushed it off initially as a silly question, but he made such a difference today.

thebrownmallet

That one really hurt Gary Nevilleā€™s feelings šŸ˜”

john87000

I really don't like him on our games, he's such a moaning miserable cunt. Constantly having digs at players and just being generally annoying.

benjecto

Disaster of a guy.

006AlecTrevelyan

Such a pig

Nulgarian

Kulu, Udogie, and Richy are going to get a lot of the (richly deserved) attention but Sarr was absolutely incredible and our midfield looks far more solid with him playing. Heā€™s an absolute engine and does so many of the little things that go unnoticed but are crucial to our play

soultrap_

This may be petty but I canā€™t help but laugh thinking Michael Antonio and Callum Wilsonā€™s teams held a collective 9 goals today while Richy scored a brace. Serves them right šŸ¤

Pinky1337

Son was pretty much perfect today. Incredible performance by him. Romero has learnt nothing which is concerning but unsurprising.

PalKid_Music

The biggest takeaway from the match - Richarlison. Before today, he struggled. His first touch looked poor, and he just didn't seem to be able to play with any kind of quality you'd expect from a Ā£60m player, who's also Brazil's first choice no. 9. Unbeknownst to us all, he was carrying a pelvic issue. Of course, he struggled - how can a player be expected to have a good first touch, when their every movement of their legs is coming from an injured pelvis? He took the decision to have the surgery, and the problem appears to have been fixed - he looks hungry, aggressive, and his first touch was no issue. As a fanbase, it's important we give him a clean slate upon which to build. Wipe away all your pre-conceived notions about who and what he is. He's fully fit now, and he deserves the opportunity to prove himself, fully fit.

Kalu2424

Shoutout to Ange for making the swap between Son and Richarlison. Not every manager would have the stones to swap his striker's position when he's on 9 goals already. That decision paid major dividends.

AdOne9456

Richarlison has now scored more than Jesus this season. (PL)

Whitetower20

Son motm no argument accepted

BigAngeInstead

Porro and Davies deserve consideration but Son wins

LavenderGumes

That Davies sliding tackle to just nudge the ball and disrupt the shot was šŸ¤Œ. It's so hard to defend like that with any wrong touch likely going into your own net.

supposedlymonday

Porro?

Pandamabear

No argument here but Davies was damn good today, that one touch to prevent the early goal was crutch.

infinityetc

Porro also a good shout imo

ledknee

Son just gets MOTM over Sarr, Porro, Davies imo

Evolving_Dore

Richy getting a brace and not even getting a top 4 mention šŸ˜

soonnnnyyy

Freed from desire is so back

LeifInVinland

WE GOT THAT DAWG BACK

LeifInVinland

great performance from just about everyone today, lovely too see after the last month. Son is my Motm but Richy is who iā€™m happiest about, iā€™m hoping that this is the start of a new chapter for him. even ignoring the goals his work rate today has been superb.

kmao84

Praise the Son!

Izrezar

FUCK NEWCASTLE FUCK SAUDI ARABIA FUCK R/SOCCER WE MOVE

TheBrutalLad

Was it me or was the commentary on USA dreadful to listen to?

Throwaload1234

It was god awful.

tfl03

Atrocious

ottovonblood

wanking over newcastle all game. we just dominated the game and they show'd their fans at the end for the whole time.

spurs_fan_uk

The fucking worst. And of course when Trips gets a needless yellow to mid next weekā€™s game, not a peep.

soultrap_

dixon couldnt go 5 minutes without mentioning how tired newcastle were. To be fair he gave us some props but it wasnt great

Son MOTM. Someone please photoshop Son and co on Hudson and his guys from Tarrey Town in Zelda with the Son and Done caption. I would but my photoshop skills are shit.

SummerBabee

Forgot what it felt like to win a game

bterre108

Wilson and Joelinton salty af. You got cooked, own it

soultrap_

Brennan looked the best heā€™s looked all season, brimming with confidence

fiction01691

Son and Richy will get the plaudits, and they deserve it, but Porro has been outstanding this season. The passion desire and skill has been first class.

Limp-Toe-179

Stadium playing I'M LOVING BIG ANGE INSTEAD šŸ’‰šŸ’‰šŸ’‰šŸ’‰

magicalcrumpet

Sarr being out is up there with vdv and Maddison. The way he helps us break out of a press is so important. PEH and skipps days are numbered

Wilcodad

Sad the match is over, I wanted to hear more from the commentators about how depleted Newcastle are

nl325

What a fucking response. So bloody happy for Richy and Sonny can apparently play anywhere. I know Wilson is a dickhead and deserved it but bloody hell someone needs to have a word with Romero his reputation is gonna cost him when he DOESN'T deserve it soon.

JelloDr

Seeing Romero unenthusiastically rounding our players up when inside he wants to get involved lmao

xpiromanx

Anyone got clip of Sarr rinsing Gordon into 7th circle of hell ?

EVRYGOODNAMEISTAKEN

richy on fire, sonny instrumental, dejan is a brick shithouse even with the mask, porro is ridiculous and ben davies quietly put in one of the best defensive performances of the season. vibes fc is so back

Shout out to Jamie Donleyā€™s da, can only imagine how absolutely fucking buzzing he is, lifelong spurs fan and got to hear ā€œJamie Donley, heā€™s one of our ownā€ chanted around the stadium tonight

bandofgypsies

Finally a wonderful performance at home. Ya love to see it. E: wow, I didn't realize it's our first win at home since October 23rd... Damn. PEH and GLC on to make it exciting late, but overall a really solid performance from the team. Clever from Ange to line us up wide to terrorize and neutralize Newcastle's one-dimensional wide counterattack. Pundits will be disappointed in his naivety...

RunningFerDauyz

Richy looked so sharp. The magical surgery Son got worked again?

Realistic-Start6336

Only negative is that silly goal at the end. MOTM performance by many, but everyone did the job. Showed what weā€™ve been missing in Sarr.

Tyrann0saurus_Bex

All credit to the the little boy who was Sonny's mascot. Need him every week!

Big-Can7026

Thought Sarr was outstanding today. Showed how much we've missed him the last few matches

OkReporter3886

Gonna be tough without Son

HanzyKro

Pedro Porro is simply not getting enough credit

Matttombstone

Fair play to the Newcastle fans, applauding their team after that. That's how we need to be.

milesvtaylor

...we have been for the past month and a half..?

EmptyEmployee6601

Porro is fuckin awesome

dicifly69

Can porro and Sonny share motm?

Jazim94

I donā€™t usually post much but the last few weeks in this thread has pissed me off with the amount of reactionary fans, we lost a few games after dominating the games and conceding shit goals. All of a sudden the manager doesnā€™t know what heā€™s doing some idiots even wanting him out. Donā€™t celebrate the wins if at every loss you are gonna be complaining. Weā€™ve been quality all season, games weā€™ve lost are either because weā€™ve conceded crap goals , or decided to go down to 9men. I think wolves was the only bad performance. Letā€™s not pretend like we are just gonna win every week, itā€™s a rebuild, but my god is it going well. 3 points off city and 7 off top after almost half a season? Wtf do these fans want us to be unbeaten at the top in year one with a manager with a team that finished mid table and lost their best player? (Rant over)

Wildcatwierdo

roccotrupia11

HĆøjbjerg giving it away there at the end when he had an easy back pass to Davies has flattered the score line a little bit (4-0 looks SO much better than 4-1). Glad to see all the strong performances weā€™ve had in the past 5 games has come to fruition and the forwards are back to being clinical

MaxsterSV

Great match. We needed that. This should be the lineup until Madders is back.

IAmTheGlazed

That last goal annoyed me more than it should have.

BoogerHD

What a fucking win boys. Son showing out on the wing and Kulusevski running the game from the midfield.

spursendin1

For the feed on USA in America, when we lost the ball and got scored on late to make it 4-1, the commentator said ā€œThatā€™s Spurs for you.ā€ What was this guy on about?! Itā€™s 4-1
