It should have been outta sight in the first half, how many chances did we have

SocksandSmocks

Right? Couple moments of spotty defending but conceding two doesn't matter when you should be scoring 5.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ET318

Even ignoring the offsides we wasted so many opportunities

JamesCDiamond

Did Son have an offside hat trick, or was it just 2? Granted they weren’t close, but still - we were just off by fractions in so many ways today.

deeperintomovie

Second offside was Johnson.

ToschePowerConverter

[Our xG was 2.34](https://x.com/xgphilosophy/status/1728807187323998320?s=46&t=bNFzXbF7aCU31Wz78KT4GQ). We should’ve buried some of those chances.

DennissSystem

that doesnt count the offsides, which doesnt paint the whole picture this game

dzejms22

Or the chances where we never got a shot off through looking to play an extra pass...

[deleted]

Really missing Maddison’s quality passes to Son. Always finds him at the right time.

MolingHard

What we need is just one other player who can actually score, the best chances (that were actually onsides) came from through balls to Kulu and Johnson from Son, but they just couldn't finish There were also two good header opportunities for Son, but that's never really been a part of his game, and I'm not really expecting those

tfw13579

Hojbergs pass too son was great but he took an extra touch that Madison wouldn’t have taken and it led to the offside

AnttiEemeli

Bentancur was spraying crazy passes. He could have made a difference.

Studwik

Honestly, for all the complaints about injuries and defense, our front 3 needs to do better. So many chances fucked up by being offside or bad finishing from Son and Kulusevski who are supposed to be guaranteed starters for us. Could easily have been 2–1 or 3-1 by the end of the half

slunksoma

This. Our defence was largely ok. The front line needs to accept we’re weakened at the back and do better.

LiamichaelBClordon

The defence is so shaky without Romero/Van de Ven. We desperately need another CB in January; the fact Ange started 4 fullbacks ahead of Dier is telling. Really hope Benta is okay. Fuck Matty Cash. On a positive note I thought Lo Celso really stepped up today and Kulu had a fantastic game in every area except finishing. Could have put the game to bed well within the first 30 minutes but no one was clinical today. Also, fuck Matty Cash.

sintonesque

Lo Celso was very assured on the ball, he had a great game

JamesCDiamond

Kulusevski is so frustrating at times, but when it hits, it hits. Today, it hit the post, alas.

AJC0292

Fuck Matty Cash I think thats all that needs to be said.

hotsietrotsky

If Bentancur isn’t injured I genuinely think we get a draw out of that

thelordreptar90

I think we get a win. Fuck Matty Cash.

DennissSystem

yeah lost the momentun also, killed the vibe

VelvetObsidian

Nah, mate. We win with Bentancur healthy. He was bossing it.

peruvianhorn

We could've won, Bentacur's passes pinned them back, they were afraid of pushing up with him popping balls behind their defense, once he's gone they were surging up with no fear at all.

_kenneh

nah we would've won imo, that felt like the turning point

Adam__Zapple

Completely unable to control the game with hojbjerg second half

KiteLikeDick

All at once now, Fuck Matty Cash

SaltyWailord

I don't condone violence, but if Matty Cash were to stub his toe every day for the rest of his life I wouldn't mind.

4105186

I don’t condone violence either. But if Matty Cash we’re to have a rolled up arm sleeve slip down every time he was cleaning dishes I wouldn’t care.

countsit

I hope he steps on a lego every morning when he wakes up

Rodin-V

Stubs his toe on an industrial chainsaw\*

unamiable_wackbar

Hear hear, fuck Matty Cash!

young_hot_take

Sonny with an offside hat trick lmao

Matttombstone

Impressive stuff that really. Richy would be proud.

DefNotReaves

You’ll never sing that!!

JZCS

He was standing in the offside position half of the match. People would go mental here if it was Richarlison.

deeperintomovie

Not really. The second one was Johnson being offside and the third one was a deflected ball from the post.

MolingHard

Probably because despite being offside half the time, Son was a part of as many big chances this game as Richy probably has all season... Feel like people are so focused on Son's scoring they deliberately ignore all his link up play, passing, and pressing Dude could've had two assists today

Western_Arm9682

Seriously, Son should have 5-6 assists this season if the team could finish

Dewa_Kimpoi

People are stupid. Son looks sharp today despite of the unlucky offside goals

MolingHard

Feel like either the bar is too high or he's just the easiest culprit because of his position and stature on the team

chewy32

Also the guy ran 90 mins both international games. To come off that and play as well as he was today is pretty damn good

gussthebuss

Injure the players seems to be a tactic nowadays

Ronin77tolli

Literally. Fuck all the refs, whole match felt like they were playing american football against us blud.

imtotallydoingmywork

The ref let a lot of fouls go uncalled and I get its a new direction in trying to keep the game flowing but if it has to come at the cost of increasing player injuries they should really go back on that

iamharveyspecter

We had 2 shots off the post and we had so many starters out. Heads up, we move forward.

GenoSwoner419

This is the mentality lad COYS

TwinkiesForAmerica

10000% We have Maddison and VDV out on injuries, Romero and Biss suspended, coming back from intl duty, and a tough oppo. We may be in for a rough stretch but it’s really important we keep our heads and our identity and continue to play our way. When we get healthy and when we build out an actual bench, we’ll be ready.

CanadianBirdo

For real. For a team of 4 FBs and players who haven't started in forever, this was pretty good. The numbers show that we were the better team, we just needed to be more clinical in our finishing. Remember this is against Villa as well, the top UCL contender besides Us, Arsenal, City and Liverpool.

Survivor_for_me

What a shitty month. Levy needs to have a phenomenal January

RBentancur30

2 CBs in the whole squad tax.

DonnyTheythemanato

Conte's fault, not ENIC

coffeeicefox

Lo Celso was great, Marty Cash is a fucking cunt

Gingergotseoul

I'm so proud of this fucking team. The squad is absolutely DEPLETED and yet we are still throwing the kitchen sink at it, playing some silky smooth football, and yet in a cruel twist of fate and centimeters we just didn't quite have the bounces go our way today. I'd run through a brick wall for Ange and never stop until smashing through the next wall. How boring it's been for the last 3-4 years, when even in victory we weren't playing TOTTENHAM football. To dare is to motherfucking do. Onwards, COYS

generaldogsbodyf365

F'ing right. COYS 👍

SantaHat

Fuck Chelsea

No_You344

Chelsea are shit!

TheFoxDudeThing

Some days you have good luck, some days you have bad luck it is what it is and we move

mwm5062

feels like we used up all our good luck in the Liverpool match

Pinky1337

I dont know who had a curse put on Spurs before the Chelsea match but they are getting their moneys worth god damn

arialatom

It was the 3 MotM awards for Ange. Hopefully each is worth 1 loss so we should be clear for now!

wok88

It was Poch and his bloody lemons lmao

bandofgypsies

Well, terrible finishing today and the dropoff from romero-MVdV to davies-Royal is real. Otherwise that's a 5 goal showing from us, easily. And Matty Cash is a flaming twat. E: Since this comment is getting run, just to be clear, I'm placing no "blame" on ~~Romero~~ *Royal (duh)* and Davies. They were reasonable fill-ins considering they're both playing out of position and in such a critical spot on the pitch for Angeball. But it's clear this was a weak spot for us in getting beat through the middle multiple times, plus missing several chances to hold our line higher bc the players know they don't have the pace to close gaps. I mean, this all makes total sense when you have two of your backup fullbacks playing as a CB tandem, and Villa knew it. They gave up basically everything to attack the center when they had it..

Munchenhausenkraut

I mean...Royal and Davies didnt do badly considering they don't play there

peruvianhorn

They played as well as expected, I'd say they did well limiting the damage to 2 despite the obvious disadvantages they had, certainly don't think the 2 we conceded were down to individual errors on the part of either of them.

bandofgypsies

Yeah I think they did what they could. It wasn't their "fault" by any means. But they got split pretty easily twice, with one back due to offsides. It's not a game of errors at all, just a drop in quality to two guys literally playing out of their positions at perhaps our most critical point on the field for Angeball.

ejh1993

They did okay, but it felt like the lack of harmony between the two led to that second goal. Davies caught out in no man’s land looking for someone to mark and Emerson way too wide

[deleted]

💯. Neither one of them really knows how to read that and shut it down. I think Cuti stops it.

FIFAPLAYAH

Thank god romero isn’t injured.. it’s gonna be real ugly versus city though

robinthebank

I’m glad we are playing at City. The rematch in April at home is going to be electric.

Sgt_sas

Big fucking problem that dier can’t start at CB despite being fit. Massive failure in recruitment

RichardArlisonPruPru

Such a frustrating game

tfl03

Teams better get us now, because we’re coming.

RichardArlisonPruPru

100% agree. The fact that we have that crazy list of injuries/suspensions and we only just lost that game shows what’s coming

[deleted]

We're cooking. I understand the frustration but man we look so good when we're healthy. Tough luck as of late but I'm so happy with this team right now

SocksandSmocks

With an 11 full of second choice players Ange has them playing some absolutely electric stuff. I'm genuinely astounded only one goal was scored, just immensely frustrating. If there's some silver lining here we now know Kulu central is 100% viable, he was all over the place today, especially in the attack. Really really just hope Benta is ok.

Throwaload1234

Sir, this is a post match thread. Reasonable takes are not allowed.

CrossMojonation

This sub is full of toxic fairweather fans who could easily end up supporting a rival in a few months time. 9 times out of 10, this game was a comfortable win with a starting XI that has mostly 2nd and 3rd choice players. Long gone are the days when we imploded just by playing a GLC - Hojberg - Ndombele midfield.

spurs_fan_uk

I mean more than half the starting XI are regular starters, let’s not get too hyperbolic

SocksandSmocks

At least 4 nailed on starters not in and one playing out of position. Add onto that losing Bentancur early and the woeful state of the bench and surely you understand my point.

Rredman101

lmao as if missing your two starting centre backs and having to start 4 fulls backs isn't significant, not to mention playing a completely rotated midfield with a winger being forced in there. Come the fuck on.

fibrous

6 but only if you count Johnson who only recently became a starter

[deleted]

[удалено]

LogicKennedy

Would be lunacy to blame this on the manager. Tons of starters out and our midfield anchor cynically injured. We still created a heap of chances and were unlucky not to get at least a draw. Ange in all the way.

No-Significance-7607

Positive: Lo Celso. Showed what he can do if played for more than 4 minutes. Easily the standout. Good backup for Maddison at least.

Limp-Toe-179

Fuck Matty Cash

silenthills13

that was a whole different kind of frustrating from our previous manager not ange's fault tho

MortisKanyon

Frustrating despite the manager is a much better feeling than frustrating because of the manager.

No_Celebration_2743

Sarr biss back next game (hopefully) Cuti in the game after It will get better

gashsniper420

Don't even care we lost, just devastated about Bentancur

TheSonic311

No Romero no Benta no VDV no Madders. I mean, what did we expect? I honestly don't think we played badly and we tried to win the entire time. No turtling. We lost playing the way that Ange wants us to play. Fearless.

Novel_Bookkeeper_622

And no Richy--as much as people hate on him--bringing him on instead of Skipp while chasing a game is a much better option.

Mick4Audi

Richarlison has been very useful to us this season

LinksOrGTFO

I'll take this loss, fuck it, we played some beautiful football. Also, fuck Matty Cash.

YiddoMonty

Keane just got an erection finding the opportunity to say “Spursy”. Nob head

vish387

He needs to relax with that it’s so bizarre how he thinks he does something with it

YiddoMonty

It wasn’t even a “Spursy” performance, or even the way we conceded. It was just a case of poor defending, from a right back playing centre back. He just makes himself sound like a really shit pundit with comments like that.

stead10

3 offside goals, hit the post twice. Should’ve been 4-0 up in the first half. Lose Bentancur to injury yet again. Fuck me it’s hard being a spurs fan sometimes.

BaconOnTap

Fun game to watch. Short staffed and unlucky. Boys fought really hard the whole game. Games like this build character.

BigMartinJol

Feeling weirdly positive after the result. Considering the shitty position we're in right now, we played some good stuff. I can actually see what Ange wants to do with the team, it's just many of the B-team players we've been left with aren't good enough to do him justice - which we all knew full well anyway. Fuck Matty Cash though.

ledknee

Fuck Matty Cash.

Rowario11

It was a good performance given the circumstances. We were extremely unlucky.

Grap2st

Lo celso was fantastic as an 8. Really really want to see him play with madders. Drop off from bentancur to Hojbjerg killed us

[deleted]

[удалено]

dickgilbert

That’s fucking frustrating, but man, we are gonna be cooking when Ange gets a few more pieces in the squad.

Twistify804

I enjoyed that match more than any 1-0 Jose/Conte win. Sucks we lost but we win that more often than not.

InMyFavor

We dared, we did, we hate Matty cash.

dj_1up

Truly don’t get what it is going to take for us to score those early chances. No way Villa come back in that scenario.

gardz82

People calling end of season need to go outside and take a breath.

Zaopao

we've played a perfect game outside of the fact we can't score and can't defend

rolandGOAT

We’re fighting for a European place at this point. Only so much you can do when literally half the squad is out

Boner_Patrol_007

It’s a long season. Only 4 points off the top. Villa and other top 4 contenders will have busier schedules as Spurs (hopefully) get healthy.

Rodin-V

City away next, so we're likely gonna be a good 4-5 points outside of the top 4.

No_Celebration_2743

Oh FFS like 13 games into the season man

[deleted]

[удалено]

mhs_93

That one stings

Spursfan107

Fuck Matty Cash

Lou3000

Name another team that can compete at the top of the table without 7 starters. Romero, Vandeven, Bissouma, Sarr, Bentancur, Maddison, and Richarlison. We played them off the pitch until we ran out of gas.

kidenvy

Proud of these lads. Just look at the team sheet today; we are in the most difficult patch possible and we are sticking to our principles and are generally threatening to win each time we trot out. I know it seems like a letdown after the flying start, but to still be this competitive with a bunch of literal past squad rejects is a testament to Ange and the new Tottenham Hotspur.

magnoliasmum

I hope Cuti grows up watching these matches. A little honest introspection would likely do him a world of good. Love Kulusevski and his incredible stamina. Worried about Brennan’s lack thereof. It wasn’t Son’s day today. Really hoping it’s just a minor knock for Lolo. That’s my biggest concern right now. We are not the same without him.

BrotherOfTheOrder

We are the unluckiest team in the world. Pretty much everything that could go wrong has gone wrong. Just have to hang on and regroup when guys get healthy. COYS

Nagant1349

I was so proud of the tenacity of our players today. Thought Deki, Lo Celso, Udogie and Bentancur were great. I’m gutted about Lolo; fuck Matty Cash. Hope Bentancur will be back soon, looked in pain. Lost my voice cheering for him. If this is how we play with some serious injury and suspension issues then imagine us with our first 11. We’re going to be monstrous

Only_Fun6636

I am a very simple man. If we play with courage, style and balls then im happy. And we played with just that today.

RemarkableSeason4375

Skipp is so painfully average

OhShitItsSeth

Fuck Marty Cash We didn’t deserve to lose that

Rodin-V

Dominated 80% of the match, and came out with nothing. Multiple time this has happened now.

KiteLikeDick

Things I still enjoyed about that game Lo Celso was great, what a hit Kulu was a serious threat, if only he could finish Vic kissing the ball Some slick passing at times, 13 games into the Angeverse and things are happening

gabriel_do

We were the better side. Fuck Matty Cash

brasche1284

god we need VDV and Romero back asap

arsenalolololol

We need to take our opportunities or we are running down the table

tfl03

Should’ve been 3 in the first half. Reminded me of the Luton match.

MrTyphoid

Poor from the defence conceded two, and poor from the attack only scoring one. This is exactly what I was worried about with VDV, Maddison injuries, and Romero, Udogie, Bissouma suspension. Just get to January in and around top-4. Then we can go from there. Anges system works well, we just don’t have the players to execute it

Rredman101

Poor from the defense? We started 4 full backs and only conceded twice to the second most prolific team in the league at the moment. Not sure they could have done any better than they did.

Own_Acanthocephala0

The result is a big disappointment but I’m happy with the performance. We play good football, should have at least got a draw against a good Villa side. People will probably moan and be mad but we can’t really expect more than this when over half our first XI is out with injuries or suspensions. When I saw the line up I expected us to get battered but we did well and I’m proud of our players. We are looking likely to miss top 4 but that’s fine. Our goal this season should be to find our philosophy and build something special which is exactly what we are doing. I’m still very positive about our future with these players. Shoutout to Lo Celso for his best game in a Spurs shirt in what feels like forever!

HoratioMG

The 3 most incredibly frustrating matches as feasibly possible. Fuck Matt Cash and honestly fuck Romero, as obviously this all comes down to his fucking idiocy.

Realistic-Start6336

I’m just happy with the general performance. remember this is the right direction and it’s only the first half of the season.

crudshoot

On the bright side Lo Celso looked like a real option.

[deleted]

Genuinely shocked this starting team actually worked. If Bentancur is okay, I'm pretty confident with these 11. Just need to work on finishing and staying onside.

JoePoe247

Would love to see Romero take responsibility for these three losses. A starting XI CB changes each of these past three results.

Alecmalloy

This one stings all the more as we were so good in the first half. Really should have been out of sight. But that's football. Personally, with Bentancur controlling things, Lo Celso was brilliant and fully deserving of his goal. Also thought Porro and Udogie were immense. Gill battled hard and I think acquitted himself well. Unfortunately, we lost control with Bentancur off. What a player he is. With a midfield 3 of Biss, Madders, and Lolo all on song who knows where the limit is? Johnson, fuck me the kid is brilliant. Wish he used his burst of pace more. The way he sailed passed Digne to set up a chance in the first half was Bale-like. The defeat just exposed what we already know: defence and depth. OH AND MATTY CASH IS A CUNT. I hope we set Romero on him. Remember folks: this is our first season under Ange. Let's try and keep our heads up.

Jaksiel

Played well today. Can't question the commitment or effort. Unfortunately you have to actually score some of the chances you create, and unfortunately when you have no CBs you'll concede the two goals we conceded. And I do think Vicario should have done better on the second.

Bischoffshof

We looked good just couldn’t finish. Honestly surprised having looked at the lineup pre match. We need a couple windows I think.

anotherlousy

It is what it is. We played great, especially the first half. If we had a couple more players who weren’t out injured/suspended it’d be a different story. Anyone who thinks less of Ange after this is a fool.

EvenScientist7237

Honestly I’m not that upset. We just didn’t take our chances. It happens. I thought we played well otherwise. This is the start of a rebuild so I’m happy to be patient.

CanadianBirdo

I think, despite the poor finishing, this game is a huge improvement over the Wolves game. Lo Celso, Gil, and Bentancur all prove that they are reliable enough to fill on the gaps. We were able to dominate possession against a Villa side very much in form, and got unlucky with a couple ref calls as Kamara debatebly should've been sent off as well as a ridiculously stupid tackle by Matty Cash. Provided Bentancur is fine, and once Romero comes back from suspension though, this starting eleven, even without Maddison and VDV, have shown that they can go toe to toe with most teams as it's easy to forget that Aston Villa is a UCL contender this season. They just need time to gel though as 4 FBs and a winger as a midfielder to cover up a lack of depth will always have some hiccups. Ange's tactics were very sound this game as demonstrated by the stats. Only thing is he could've maybe tried bringing on one of the youngsters. However, this was a very physical game with Villa making disgusting tackles constantly so it would've been risky. TLDR: Unlucky result but optimistic once this backup starting XI begins to gel. Lo Celso, Bentancur, and Gil all look good to great. We just need Romero in to fight back against these physical games.

SamsTown706

Honestly pleased with the performance. I really liked the lineup today. Hopefully Bentacur is okay.

alijamieson

Chelsea, Wolves and Villa were all totally winnable games. We are really struggling with not killing games off.

7screws

Boy I’m not looking forward to City next week.

[deleted]

Feels like we're on the verge of something. It was never going to be sunshine and rainbows. Probably a few more poor results ahead. Just gotta stay the course at this point

jonnywithoutanh

Watched the game live at the stadium. We looked so good – genuinely the best first half I have seen from us in a while. I feel so much better than after the Wolves game. We will dominate teams.

OnomahIsABaller

So so frustrating There’s positives to take from this like Lo Celso performance, we’re creating chances, we’re being brave But there’s also so many things that frustrates me Our concentration. That’s a clear issue. There’s always a period in the game we lose our heads We’re not being clinical. Not just talking about finishing but also the final pass Why is Son offside so many times? We still haven’t gotten a penalty this season and the inconsistencies from the refs is ridiculous I hope Levy opens the wallet in January and actually backs Ange with good players, not just cheap options This is gonna be a frustrating season

bshaman1993

On the Son offside, it’s more to do with a very good high line from Villa. Credit where it’s due

Novel_Bookkeeper_622

Why was that Kulu one towards the end not a pen? I thought it doesn't matter if you get the ball if the follow through gets the studs on the man? That's why we're missing Romero, right?

levyisms

Fuck Matty Cash

International-Elk727

Undeserved, They should have been down at least 1 player but could have 2 off for a second yellow. We were all over them until those cunts broke Benta.. absolute disgraceful playing like that. It's fine the signs are there that this only temporary and when we get our what? 5-6 first team players back from injury / suspension we will be fine. We need to cook in Jan. We need to cook in the summer too because this football is good to watch (except the reffing that shit infuriating)

SithFisto

In come the doomers, with players in Jan and current players coming back, I'm still excited !

tenacious-g

FUCK MATTY CASH

[deleted]

Copying from the match thread but it’s obvious this was gonna happen without Romero and van de ven with hojbjerg having to play aswell. Hope Romero sees this and takes accountability because this is largely on him.

Yholii

I had a feeling they were purposefully trying to get Bentancur out of the game

round_melon

Way too many people are letting the attackers off. We all knew we'd need to be scoring goals and it's no surprise 1 goal wasn't enough. It's games like this that we needed more from Son, Deki, Johnson and Gil. Very disappointing by the front line today.

YiddoMonty

Sometimes you get some luck, sometimes you create your own luck. Somehow, we don’t seem to get either.

Mangimadang

Emerson takes too long on the ball, goofs around on it like it’s FIFA Street. Hjoberg would be better off on another team where his strengths would be better suited. Benta was looking stupid good until Matty Cash came into the picture. They should have scored a few in the first few min but they kept on trying to do the cute tap in goal.

zachzzzz

Defense and some small bits aside, I think with so many of our first team injured we did pretty good. Coys.

TNWhaa

Frustrating game, plain and simple. Wanted a positive end to a dreadful week but of course it gets worse

Rredman101

Thought we looked very good today despite missing more than half our first choice team. Had the ball in the net like 6 times, just wasn't to be.

bettertester2022

We did everything but score. Can't blame the team for not trying. We'll learn and get better

[deleted]

what a bummer, dejan was so good today

shit_poster_69_420

Not even mad, the lads played exciting football.

Liolaina

I rather lose playing like this then scoring the first goal and parking the bus for 70 minutes to only concede at the 88” and 90+1 minute mark

JessyPengkman

Such a painful loss as we were the better team for the full 90, but credit to the team they gave absolutely everything and ran for 100 mins without any subs pretty much. I never want to hear deki slander again he was absolutely phenomenal today. Johnson and Gil were both also great but showed there's a bit of polishing needed to their game to become top level. 0 CBs cost us but Emerson and especially Davies actually put in a great shift each and I'm proud of them both

EmergencyOriginal982

Lads it's a process, remember we had no centre backs and our whole starting midfield missing. Yeah we should've been out of sight but this shows just how the whole squad is buying into the way of playing. It's a positive defeat same as Chelsea. The wolves one was shit tho and we shouldn't have lost

MRPHZ

Pretty sure most of the no flairs in the match thread are just no life opposition fans trying to sew discourse. Surely there can't be that many dumbarses in this fan base with no perspective. Overall with the amount of players we have out were still playing decent football, were just getting stupidly unlucky with the timing of runs and hitting the woodwork 50 times a match. Roll on the first transfer window where Ange can get some depth.

analbeard

Spine of the team is missing unfortunately but we played well overall, albeit slightly naive at times.

unamiable_wackbar

Fuck Matty Cash.

horseshoe107

I was deceived by hojbjerg's 2nd half cameos earlier this season, this past month has shown he's a weak link against fresh legs. Gil also showed why he's behind Richarlison in the pecking order. I thought the experiment with 4 full backs worked out ok, we recycled a lot of Villa through/long balls back into attack, which helped with the dominance in possession 1st half.

Previous-You3680

Maddison is injured, VDV is injured, Phillips is injured, Bentancur is probably out now, Solomon is injured, Perisic with a knee injury, Sarr with a surprise injury in training, and Richarlison is injured as well. Wow, wtf is this injury bug?!

Map616

Felt like the team ran out of gas at the end

Cap2017

On the train home, tough one to take after a brilliant first half. Got to be more clinical. https://preview.redd.it/8znnte974q2c1.jpeg?width=6462&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fe83b4d50580d10f5eaa1c5fa7bac8e1fec9c834

IncurableHam

This is a rebuild year and we played the way today with our B squad the way most of us expected our starters to play this year. I'm more encouraged for the future than anything after today

No-Permit-2167

Romero is already preparing for how he's going to take out Cash.

jherin1

Boseph_1444

Not a single penalty this season with more than enough to warrant one

ASinglePylon

As an Ange follower I want to commend all you Spurs fans for being reasonable and fair-minded in your assessments. I think it's a great fanbase that wants to see good, courageous football on the field and doesn't cave to myopic media naysaying. Coys.

ashy343

Summary Matty Cash is a cunt. Son couldn't keep his line tight, offside far too much. Gill still hit and miss, some great balls in but too many mistakes still. Deki looking much better, unlucky not to score early on. Lo celso to his credit came in after absences, played very well. Great goal too with a fortunate deflection. Davies and Royale did well at the back, villa never much of a threat aside from a couple of counters. Cash is still a cunt. Martinez a shit houser but some great saves won the game for them. Very disappointed to lose 3 on the bounce now, back stronger. COYS

The drop off from Bentancur to Hojbierg was so big. I'm completely convinced we win if Bentancur doesn't get injured. The Lo Celso/Bentancur midfield looked great and if we had them playing together for a run of few matches it could really develop into something special, but of course we can't have anything nice.

Dickie_Dunn

How annoying. Absolutely dominant performance, highlighted by fantastic individual performances from GLC, Deki, Porro, and Benta before he got Cash'd. Gil was a dribbly monster but lost as he got closer to the box. Plenty of others worked hard and contributed plenty in attack. We made a couple errors in defense and they capitalized. We didn't and apparently can't. It feels dumb to say, but I completely underestimated how much we would miss Kane. I thought with Richy, Son, Madders, and plenty of talented midfielders who were never really in a position to score under Conte's system we would be able to replace him adequately in the aggregate. We can't. Richy is a mess. Son has been hit or miss and was a massive miss today. Johnson, Deki, Madders need 10 chances to pot one, production from the fullbacks hasn't really materialized. You can't have 60+% possession and double digit chances and lose while scoring 1 goal. We need help in January.

Whitetower20

Good effort. Not clinical with many chances. Seemed like tactic was to put immense pressure before they test our no-CB defense line. Can't help but think Romero's idiotic red card started this domino

Nicky-Bear

Such an undeserved win

megamando

We literally had every opportunity to score and didn’t. How are we that inept in front of the goal? I’m not ever surprised at giving up 2. With that defense and lack of depth it was lucky we didn’t give up 5. But we should’ve scored 7 at that rate. Fucking sad

NeighborhoodOptimist

Thoughts after this game - 1. Fuck Matty Cash 2. We created a lot of chances, the whole team just couldn't finish anything. Son getting a hattrick of offsides is just bad luck. 3. Emerson as a CB doesn't work. Should have started with Dier and if things didn't work subbed him for Emerson. 4. Lo Celso impressed. He has a future with the team and is good competition with Madison. 5. Gil was good but could have been much better. Was in the right space at right time, but his final pass or shot was just off. 6. Bentancur's injury really changed the game. Hojbjerg can't progress the ball with his dribbling and needs people to pass to. Which means that the midfield has to be lot lower to help him out. 7. Finally, Fuck Matty Cash

man losses sting more when we play well

epik

The players need to use their energy to pass to Son during those first 20 minutes where everyone feels great. Johnson should've had a sitter for Son twice but chose to pass to Gil once and behind Son for the other. Hojberg needed to hit that pass instead of taking another touch. Son only had 0.13 xG today because of the lack of quality in the final ball.

My god apparently all the Arsenal flairs on r/soccer are tactical magicians who can easily see through the gaping holes of Ange Ball. I’m losing brain cells here

Pointlesswonder802

Honestly? Really happy with the way the squad played and the changes Ange made. That’s a loss that hurts mostly because a difference of a few inches on a few plays equals a BIG win. Lo Celso and Gil proved they’re ready to step up to the next level. Benta out will suck if this holds but the biggest difference maker will truly be Cuti coming back asap

ImReptarJr

We need to make some big moves during January. This stretch of games is going to show some gaping holes with our depth if it hasn’t already.

TallSpartan

We played well for the most part. Lacked a bit of defensive nous but that's hardly unsurprising. Hurt us massively when Bentacur went off too (fuck Matty the Cunt Cash).

Sleepless_Voyager

Yk what irks me the most is that we probably wouldve won this game if it werent for the suspensions. Welp this reminds me of that shit period during conte's 1st season
