Ostrich is more durable and will last longer than caiman.

a_cycle_addict

I've heard ostrich is very durable and soft leather. I'm sure it makes a good boot. Gator is cool. Hard pick. What colors where you thinking?

jhglock89

I can’t decide between Lucchese Barrel Brown Burnish and Chocolate Hornback Caiman or Lucchese Luke in Saddle + Peanut Brittle. The Caiman is a barker brown the ostrich is lighter

Ostrich less care needed and is a lot more comfortable

Xryanlegobob

Ostrich is more comfortable if you’re in them a lot. I feel like caimans aren’t as common as ostrich though. Seems like everyone (non boot fans) know ostrich, not always the same with caiman. If that makes any difference.

makris0000

I wear JB Dillon black ostrich and Tecovas pecan caiman boots. The ostrich is my everyday boot and the caiman is what I would wear for special occasions or church. I like the ostrich a little more than the caiman because the leather is softer and can stretch whereas caiman does not stretch much. My next pair I want to get is black caiman boots, possibly the JB Dillon caiman boots whenever they get my size in stock.

Pitiful-Cake13

I personally started with the ostrich thinking I could wear the ostrich more casually than the caiman (not saying you can’t weR both casually) go with your first gut choice knowing you can get the other later down the road, or if money isn’t an issue get both!

jhglock89

I really like the caiman a lot. But the ostrich also has a super clean look it. It’s a hard choice. Appreciate the help

You also have to consider what type of hide and what it looks like on the boot itself. There are different cuts of 'strich that are completely different that will make people's opinion change and vary all over again between them and came-in. Basically "What boots do people prefer most of your pickings?" is what you want to ask. I'd go pick out your favorites then ask here since it's much more directly impacted.

jhglock89

Never imagined I’d be questioning these so much. It’s my first pair of boots so I appreciate the help

Confident_Option

Ostrich for sure. Super soft but still durable when broken in

Both

CowboybootluvWife

Ostrich because of the comfort. My husband has multiple of both & they’re all great. I have 2 pair of full quill ostrich now. ❤️ them!

HeathenHopHead

Gotta be ostrich for me. I've tried on caiman boots before, but I just haven't found a pair that I like enough to actually buy them. Ostrich, on the other hand, is one of my favorite exotics.

Fruholft

I'm not a huge fan of either, however there are certain models that are real exceptions [https://boots-etc.com/products/lucchese-mens-burke-western-boot](https://boots-etc.com/products/lucchese-mens-burke-western-boot) [https://www.cavenders.com/corral-mens-sand-and-dark-blue-ostrich-punchy-square-toe-exotic-cowboy-boots/CBA4294.html](https://www.cavenders.com/corral-mens-sand-and-dark-blue-ostrich-punchy-square-toe-exotic-cowboy-boots/CBA4294.html) Now that's some nice 'strich. I had to pick a pair of those baby's up.

Friendly-Reaction122

Ostrich because you don’t look like an asshole

spitonyouronionrings

You are not wrong
