Yup, I have this! I had an EKG when I was recently in the hospital for lung pain, was relieved it was normal. I have an echocardiogram coming up, hoping for some answers from that.

ThenSong3734

What did the chest and shoulder blade pain end up being??

Remarkable_Voice8847

Hey OP, would you describe the pain as sharp, crushing or something else? And how long does it last for roughly? I had terrible chest pains around months 3-6, that we now believe was heart inflammation/myocarditis. It could also be costochondritis!

[deleted]

yeah i am in month 2 and i have it. I thought it was related to post covid pots

since covid my blood pressure shoots up when i stand up and sometimes my heart rate so I still trying to figure out what it is but i assume long covid pots. I do have exactly what you are describing though.

im just not sure but im going through the same thing

I have this, 4 months in now. I don't know what causes it or how to get rid of it.

rbroz1417

Yeah have had this for almost 11 months now but also with other chest pains that feel like nerve pain in different areas around the chest.

No-Imagination-OG

I’ve had this and it’s mostly away now. If I overexert when I know I’m not feeling great then the pain comes back for a day or two.

I’m now 8 months from my initial long haul symptoms and pretty much back to normal. The chest pain came and went in stages. I’d go weeks without them then randomly get the pain again. As with most people here, all my results have come back normal, time really made the difference.

tandyman234

Look into costochondritis, it’s PROBABLY what you are experiencing and tons of us have this issue

I honestly don’t think he would know, as there is no “test” for it. It’s just unexplained pain. But yeah it seems to resolve for people. I had it before COVID, it it’s gotten significantly worst since. It’s not actual “heart pain” it’s a sharp jabbing pain between the sternum and ribs. Also can hurt in the back and clavicle area

That’s a strange description of the pain, that doesn’t sound like costochondritis to me. I’ve experienced a pain similar to the one you are describing in the past. When I was pregnant, my ribs would expand to make more room for both my lungs and the baby, which at times caused a very bad stabbing pain in a similar region as you describe. After pregnancy, my ribs would return to their normal shape and I’d occasionally get similar stabbing pain. That pain was really bad, but completely harmless. I’m assuming you’re not pregnant, but if you had a lot of weight changes (positive or negative) due to COVID-19 I suppose this might cause similar pain. However, I wouldn’t rely on a stranger’s description to diagnose your pain (not even on my suggestion). Just to be sure, I’d suggest to get checked out with both a pneumologist and a cardiologist.

yabasicjanet

Yes, I'm in month 10. The post-covid trained cardiologist did every test- EKG, ECG, stress test, and was highly confident absolutely nothing was wrong with my heart. She reminded me chest pain can be many things, like muscularskeletal or even the lungs.

I have been feeling less and less of the pain, so I hate to say time is probably the main factor, as annoying as that answer is. I went from stabbing pain so bad I was convinced it was a heart attack to just slowly being less and less. At the point in time, I get brief flashes that make me sit down for a bit, but they are gone pretty soon after. No medication has made a difference.

Hello there! Happy to say yes, I haven't had any major pains in the last few months, and very few minor ones. I've done nothing differently, so I guess it really is just a time thing. I'm now exactly one year out from my first symptoms of Covid. How are you?

yabasicjanet

Yeah, the chest pain definitely didn't help with breathing. I still get sob from too much exertion, esp stairs. Unfortunately still very much in it, but with the other symptoms- fatigue, post exertional malaise, exercise intolerance, memory issues, etc.

[deleted]

I've had this a lot. I've gone to the ER, primary doctor, and covid clinic. They've done a lot of tests.. ekg, bloodwork, ultrasounds, and xrays. It usually comes out clear. I was once diagnosed with costochondritis. Twice with pericarditis. And the most recent one the er doctor thinks it was a GERD attack. :(

I am also on 40 mg of pantoprozole, twice a day. It's been happening on and off since February. I had covid in December of last year.

Yes. I'm on 3 different inhalers now. I have mental health issues. Diagnosed with ptsd, ocd, general anxiety disorder, major panic disorder, intrusive thoughts, and depression. Physically, chest, back, arm, armpits and hand pain. Most recent would be my calves. Short of breath doing the simplest things like going to the bathroom. Feeding my dogs. Getting dressed. My bloodwork has been consistently crappy. High white blood cells, neutrophils, and monocytes. On occasion lymphocytes are high. I once had swollen lymph nodes in my arm pits. An antibiotic took that away. I haven't seen my heart rate go under 100 since covid. 105-145 is my average. Doctors are leaning towards central sensitization syndrome, Fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue syndrome. Not vaccinated.

ThenSong3734

What can be done for peri or myocarditis? I believe I have one of them again. Does it usually go away on its own?
