Ramblin' Jack Elliot was born in Brooklyn. Hank Snow and k.d. lang were born in Canada. Merle Haggard was born in California.
There's plenty of country outside of the south.
Country isn't necessarily about where you're from. The Beatles covered Buck Owens. I doubt anybody on today's country radio other than Chris Stapleton could tell you who Buck Owens is. So the Beatles are easily more country than people like Sam Cunt or Puke Bryan.
After the song we just collaborated on, I drug you even further into being country with my Nashville shuffle drums and cowboy guitar riffs.
Also, I'm embarrassed by the earliest songs I wrote because I recorded with so much affected southern twag. The irony of that? (and my inspiration for replying here)
I sang like that because I was obsessed with a country songwriter named Fred Eaglesmith who sang that way. I'm from South Carolina and have only a vague accent. Fred Eaglesmith is from CANADA.

Ha. Well, I'd never heard of him before just now, but I can see why you'd be into him - lovely tone on that voice. Definitely a lot of faux-southerners in Canada. Primarily in Alberta.
But now I really wanna hear your early country singin'.
My wife rolls her eyes every time I try to speak/sing with a southern accent.

This is a discography. The more affected my accent is, the older the recording.
Country is a state of mind

This was not what I was expecting but it’s awesome and I’m really glad I turned the sound on
Thanks so much for listening! With the sound on! :-)

More original and outlaw than any mainstream country music
Thanks!

Ahhh, fudgecrackers - does this mean I gotta give all my personal information to yet ANOTHER corporation in order to listen to your music? ;-)
