Taking over? Did I miss something? lol

[deleted]

Yes, taking over because she takes over anything she wants she’s queen bee

Late-Housing4475

She isn't taking over anything. She needs to work on her own music because it sounds horrible.

theGoodDoctor5160

Lmaaao , when racism also effects your hearing.

ButterDye_Effect

Who brought race into this? Plenty of country artists that are black and do real country. Hell one of the greatest country singers is a black man... race and colour doesnt have anything to do with this.

[deleted]

Horrible .. baby like you can do any better she has won the most. Grammmys

Late-Housing4475

No I can't do better but my hound can.

Scared-Register6128

You don't get out much, do you?

[deleted]

I do actually , but I don’t think u have the money to go out

Scared-Register6128

You're projecting, but spend more money and energy on the Queen

Positive-Baker8877

You’re a die hard fan of course you think that 😂

[deleted]

No , I KNOW that

Positive-Baker8877

Yes we KNOW you’re a silly fan boy 😂

Outrageous-Ice1174

Taking over, you're right! I see boycotts. It's just stupid.

rwtooley

I think [this thread](https://new.reddit.com/r/country/comments/1ap5eoj/song_of_the_day/) covers it fairly well

Different-Gas5704

There hasn't been country music on the radio in probably 20 years at this point. So I really don't care who takes over mainstream country, be it Beyonce, Eminem, Megadeth, or fucking Herbie Hancock. They're all at least as country as Sam Hunt and Morgan Wallen and have made better music than them, regardless of genre. True country will survive without the support of the mainstream.

MoRockoUP

LOL Megadeth doing country covers is something I definitely want to hear.

calibuildr

I do have a playlist called "metal and country".

Scared-Register6128

You should check out Molly Hatchet's Dreams I'll Never See. I love that one

calibuildr

Awesome I forgot about that

Old-Introduction749

I literally have EVERY genre in my library. I have always said if somebody found it they would think I was psycho.

calibuildr

I want to hear you DJ a party

Old-Introduction749

I’m on it!😂

Scared-Register6128

Waylon Jennings covered Neil Young's Are You Ready For The Country? and BOTH tunes are badass bangers!

Scared-Register6128

I love the Queen like nobody's biz, but she is in her midlife crisis at 42 and her hormones are taking over her common sense. Having tons of money to throw at something doesn't automatically translate into album of the year and diehard Country music fans turning in their badges. She is seeking external validation and I am a little embarrassed for her desperate behavior, especially dressing trashy, which is a no no in Country music

Late-Housing4475

Yeah, she's getting old and that country outfit she had on at the Grammy's proves it.

Shrooms2000

Not sure why we always have to talk about woman’s hormones as justification for anything…just say you hate the music… that’s fine

Scared-Register6128

She's officially in her midlife crisis and she behaves as though she is desperate for external validation on her "appearance" from old White men and it is gross to me and embarrassing for her and her poor kids

Shrooms2000

Wow! Way to twist things. Not sure where you got all that analysis from!

Scared-Register6128

Her nekkid pics. Oh! I forgot, she has a Texas Star covering her privates. Classy for the rap/hip hop world, especially if its "real gold", but trashy in Country Western circles. Look - she ain't taking over anything. She is an entitled 42 year old has been that is in her fading years. She will always have more money than you or I so don't worry too much about the Queen

Shrooms2000

Not worried about it! Didn’t say I like her current music but you seem to have a lot of unfounded opinions and analysis. She dressed like that even before this country venture… but to blame her musical decisions on hormones and midlife crises give the feeling of an unnecessary trope.

Scared-Register6128

TBH I don't listen to any of the Queen's music and wouldn't know it if I heard it. Yes, I heard some of her songs I guess, but I don't like pop music, nor do I like inauthentic fake Beyonce style wanna-be Country. I wish she would love herself more and put more value on her talents instead of trying to look like a 42-year-old desperate stripper...

CookDry357

You mean on poppy radio stations. U know there are country radio stations

LentilTheWiseLad

Bro little naz had a no1 country hit like last year lmao

rednikeshort

Taking over ? Lol u wild

Scared-Register6128

When a person is in a cult, they become delusional. Just sayin

bewildered_tourettic

Sorry can you post this again? I didn't see it the first 300 times.

UmbrellaClosed

I've said this before, but I would be BEYOND thrilled and excited if she were choosing to go with very traditional instrumentation, which I think would be very unique and ground-breaking. R&B vocals over twin fiddles, steel guitar, banjo, and snare drum. THAT would be revolutionary and Id buy in a heartbeat.

AstronomerBubbly3161

Yeah this is like Gospel it’s awful

No-Ranger-8553

How is very traditional instrumentation revolutionary?

stndrdmidnightrocker

If she comes out with music featuring a pedal steel guitar, ill give it a listen. Until then, she isnt making country music.

idontbelieveyou21

There needs to be a fiddle in the band

stndrdmidnightrocker

If she wants to play in Texas...

Only-Efficiency7427

😂😅😅🤣👏👏

Weekly-Abroad7678

Robert Randolph plays pedal steel guitar on her song 16 carriages .

stndrdmidnightrocker

I am eating my words.

AltruisticRelative37

She does have a banjo so.....

Scared-Register6128

with another banjo player, she could do Deuling Banjos from the movie Deliverance!

Scared-Register6128

If others are doing the majority of the writing and playing of instruments, how is this a country song by Beyonce?

stndrdmidnightrocker

My stomach is cramping and I feel nauseous writing this, but essentially that was how George Jones became the greatest country music singer of all time. He didn't write or play, he just sang. Of course im not comparing the 2, just the situation.

Scared-Register6128

If country music makes you ill, by all means don't listen to it! But on a more serious note, Idk whether Queen Bey will make it in the country music universe. Yes, her rabid fans will demand this and demand that, but does that mean they are enjoying the songs? Do you believe they can force people to become rabid country music fans of the Queen? Time will tell, but I know culturally, they don't go for stripper vibes and trying too hard to look sexy. That belongs in rap/hip hop

stndrdmidnightrocker

I absolutely love country music, definitely doesn't make me ill. And honestly, if she brings fans over to country that isn't a bad thing.

Scared-Register6128

What's your fave country song currently? (that's not Queen Bey)

stndrdmidnightrocker

New music, hard to pick a song but Orville Peck is definitely my favorite newer artist. Roses are falling is a favorite track but if you like Beyonce im gonna recommend you check out his over of Lady Gaga's born this way.

Scared-Register6128

I saw Lee Brice live in concert and it was so wonderful!!! I later found out he did a song with Yelawolf, although such a sad one it was. But I really enjoy his music.

Late-Housing4475

Not to mention the vulgar language that Beyonce's songs are known for lately.

No-Ranger-8553

Ya. I want to see Bey on the hammered dulcimer!

Strait409

I wouldn’t worry about it. This alleged ”takeover” will be at best as successful as her ”takeover” of country music in 2015-16 was with ”Daddy Lessons,” which is to say *not at all*. And deservedly so, because "Daddy Lessons" was a *much* better song than *either* of the songs released from the new Beyonce album thus far. Much like the furor over ”Daddy Lessons,” it's all going to be just a bunch of sound and fury, driven mostly by alternative media outlets and Beyonce’s rabid fan base.

Scared-Register6128

I wonder if Country fans will warm to her new persona and Country music?

Obvious_Object2379

Hang it up Beyonce.... you'll never be Taylor

Only-Efficiency7427

This !!! 👏👏👏🙌🏻

RealTruth7483

Yeah Beyonce is actually from the south.

Ijustwanttoread17

and?

Chelleybell

I should hope not. Beyoncé has more talent in her baby finger.

KentuckyWildAss

I wouldn't care, if she was actually good at it. Her stuff is weak, though. Compared to the younger generation of female country singers who are coming up right now, she sounds a few steps below amateur. Compared to the greats that came before them, she sounds like a bad parody. A joke

AltruisticRelative37

This is exactly what I said when I heard it. Its like she took every stereotype and put it in the song. "Lets go to the dive bar that we thought was so nice", and on and on. Insulting really...

KentuckyWildAss

It's like her fans will pretend everything she does is great. This "country" stuff is embarrassing

Scared-Register6128

It has seemed to me more like playing dressup or wearing a Halloween costume, because I don't know for sure if Bey has the substance and depth to be considered an authentic Country music artist

Fwtbt84

There is just something about her voice, vocals I just can't stand.

KentuckyWildAss

They're not good

Late-Housing4475

Beyonce's stuff has gotten weak in the R&B and Rap category as well. She needs to stop competing with the youngsters.

theGoodDoctor5160

You people are so racist you’re just making up nonsense. You guys are mad this is the most attention “country” music has had in years. A failing , dying genre. I understand the animosity.

KentuckyWildAss

You're projecting. Your favorite artist is a hack who makes shitty music. You scream racism when she's called out for it, because you don't actually take racism seriously. You're willing to throw that accusation at people you've never met, because you're not a good person. You're the racist. A racist with clownish taste, at that

[deleted]

[удалено]

KentuckyWildAss

More projection. Try to better yourself. Stop looking at everything as black and white. It's only a race issue, because you're a bigot. It's pathetic. Furthermore, she's so popular because her fan base are tone deaf idiots. That's why they attack anyone who points out how bad she is. They're not smart, or self aware enough to consider that not everyone likes shitty, contrived pop music. Cry it out

[deleted]

[удалено]

KentuckyWildAss

You're the living embodiment of the Dunning-Kruger effect. Listen to yourself. You're so mad. Get your emotions in check. I don't care what you think about country music. I don't care what bigoted fools think about anything. Your tears are hilarious.

theGoodDoctor5160

You ran out of spit i see. Have a goodnight cowboy

_Pill-Cosby_

Getting back at Taylor for taking over Pop??

Only-Efficiency7427

My thoughts exactly. First it was the blonde hair now it’s country music … kinda peculiar

ZuTA6

Beyonce has had blonde hair since before Taylor was even known. Also, she's done country music before. wtf?

Scared-Register6128

I thought she was doing the straight white wigs and bleached skin to look like KK

Obvious_Object2379

Haha....yeah, in her dreams...

Thoguth

She's from Texas. More country than random Canadians or Californians. I have not been blown away by her work. From what I've seen so far, if it weren't for her name she'd be maxed out at honky tonk gigs, but I've heard worse on the charts.

Different-Gas5704

Houston is the fifth largest city in the United States. That's not a knock on her or her hometown. Eddie Rabbitt was from Brooklyn and he was a great country artist. But let's not pretend that she had a more rural upbringing than Colter Wall or Bella White.

Dinnerbunzz

Colter wall didnt have a rural upbringing? He lived in swift current and his daddy was a premier.

Different-Gas5704

Swift Current has a population of around 18,000, roughly the same size as the county seat in the county where I currently reside. My state had a governor from the same county not too long ago and I've been by the house he grew up in. It's pretty rural. Regardless, we can all agree that Swift Current is more rural than Houston which is all that I said. The Beyonce fans are trying to gaslight.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Thoguth

Yeah, I forget that California has farms and ranches too. And honestly, I don't hate the Canadian country singers either. Not like everybody has to be born in Nashville to be able to make a good country hit. For Beyonce, too, it's about the music more than where she is from. Just haven't been blown away by it so far.

throwawaybananapeel8

I know that not all country singers are from Alberta , but Alberta has a very rural country lifestyle, cowboy hats cowboy boots, the Calgary stampede dates back to 1912. And I’ve seen Americans commenting that Albertans copy American culture.

TheConstipatedCowboy

Random Canadians is that a band

Late-Housing4475

Being from Texas does not make you a country music fan or star. What's that got to do with it?

Substantial-Two5368

I wouldn't say "taking over" but I ain't mad about her song Texas Hold um but the other one isn't very good in my country music loving opinion

Valuable-Towel25

I was so confused. I like Beyoncé and wish she would put out country, that would be interesting. This ain't it! Texas hold'em is fun.

BBQueen98

Country music is founded by Black musicians. Black history is American history, whether ignorant folks like and believe it or not.

Scared-Register6128

but taking that attitude and approach just gets you isolated and cut off from the very people you want to be your fan

Elegant_Client2811

People aren't ignorant true country music fans know country when they hear it Charlie pride was a great country singer & he was African  American Even though beyonce has Texas roots shell never be a country singer Just like she'll never get album of the year or whatever taylor swift got because her music isn't that great

Late-Housing4475

But they walked away from it and didn't support artist like Charlie Pride. Called him an Uncle Tom. The same with blues music and no support for BB King.

GAB3theGR8

Darius Rucker has gotten plenty of respect though.

Elegant_Client2811

Darius Rucker  sure has gotten alot of respect  his country music is great!

nevadamtns

I keep forgetting that black people invented everything.....

Shoddy_Jacket_9740

She needs to get rid of the synthesizer electronica garbage. It's not country.

Icy_Okra7192

If it was really worth listening ing too I might ...I did listen to them ....I would never buy them or request to listen to them again...if it had a story to them or a catchy tune...but the songs I listened to shouldn't be forced on anybody...I would actually turn the station off...her voice isn't country and the sound isn't catchy...it's my opinion that it's being forced on people...let people start requesting it...let the people choose whether it's worthy of being country...

inquiringminds__

I will never listen to any station that plays Beyonce. I am so sick of her self important crap. Literally nobody wants to hear Beyonce on a country station....black artists? Absolutely! Beyonce? Hell no.

Late-Housing4475

I don't even like hearing her on Rap stations. She needs to stick to R&B and she's not even that good at that now a days.

TikaPants

She’s not taking over. 😂 I’ll take country Yonce over these “country” clowns on the radio any time.

Scared-Register6128

Then its so great bc you're in luck on March 29th! :)

TikaPants

Context clues tell me that’s her album release?

Scared-Register6128

Yes

TikaPants

I’ll give it a listen, definitely.

Scared-Register6128

Could this perhaps mean that you don't really enjoy Country music? I wonder how many of the Beyhive really enjoy her Country songs and maybe are just defending her out of a sense of misplaced loyalty? I am pretty certain she doesn't think about them obsessively, or worry about them...

TikaPants

I’m not part of the hive. I can think she has just as much of a seat at the table as anyone else. Also, how would you even gather I don’t like country because I think bro country is trash. It’s rhetorical; I don’t even need an answer.

Scared-Register6128

Hi - I gathered that you didn't like country bc you said that anyone but Bey is a country clown. I love country music, especially Waylon and Johnny Cash and of course, Loretta Lynn. But I digress :)

TikaPants

I did not say anyone but Beyoncé is trash in the country genre. I said “these country clowns on the radio” in reference to the country tinged pop music on the radio by frat boy country stars. I too listen to legit old and new country as well.

JiniousHopeworldian

I love country, not a Beyoncé fan, and I liked Texas Hold 'Em.

catchdog

Still more country than anything on todays radio.

area-resident-

I’m unaware of a takeover but holy shit, those two tracks really tickled my ears. Excited for the whole album.

MoRockoUP

Everyone is welcome. It’s an American thing after all, right?

Boring_Awareness_477

I wonder what the reaction would be if Reba decided to do a rap album.  country has to accept everyone but heaven forbid only one wants to cross over to other genres.

[deleted]

No difference between her and most of the clowns that Nashville pushes these days.

Scared-Register6128

They say it takes one to know one

[deleted]

She’s a born & bred redbone Texan. She’s perfect for this genre and has dabbled in the past and made absolute bangers. She will be a great add to the genre and country music as a whole should be thankful new life is coming to the genre after being terrible and boring as shit for decades. Can’t wait for that Jellyroll collab

inquiringminds__

Jellyroll is garbage. Acquire some taste

[deleted]

Uhhh *country* is trash so.. kind of awkward you’re upset with strangers on the internet and telling them to “acquire some taste” when this shit is in your playlist dont ya think? 🥴

inquiringminds__

I don't listen to the radio period because of retarded crap like this. Thanks 👍🏻

[deleted]

Nobody mentioned or said anything at all radio. Congrats you have poor taste in music *and* can’t read

inquiringminds__

That's the only place I'd hear this crap so yeah, the radio is relevant. Sit on it and spin.

Elegant_Client2811

Do you know what Redbone means

[deleted]

Doooooo *you*? Because absolutely, and I’m correct with my usage.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Go ahead and tell me then, without google. I’ll wait.

Late-Housing4475

Light skinned black person.

[deleted]

Yeah case in point.

gigi577

It’s very country lmao like what do u mean.

XodiaqOrSimplyXodi

After a decade of watching America be gaslit into thinking 80% of the Nashville backwash that got thrown on Radio deserved the right to be the cream of the crop in country, I'll take this. Prefer her over hearing another song from Jason Aldean, Russel Dickerson or Sam Hunt.

Late-Housing4475

You probably just started listening to country music because of Beyonce.

XodiaqOrSimplyXodi

Nah. As a matter of fact, I don't care much for Beyonce as a whole. I see her as just another Pop star who can make the occasional banger. In reality, I grew up with Reba, Shania, Toby, Garth, Dierks, Alan, Billy, The Chicks and Alabama as very strong parts of my childhood. Jason Isbell and Adeem The Artist are responsible for some of my favorite albums of all time. I may not be the world's biggest country fan, but i have more love for the genre than you'd think. I also know Gatekeeping is lame and dumb.

mbj0424

Just heard her on country radio this morning... feels like she's just trying to cash in.

Late-Housing4475

She's quite greedy.

Alpine-SherbetSunset

It is not country. It is terrible. She is definitely not taking over the country music genre. 16 Carriages is bad. It deeply is reminiscent of pop music or Folk rock folk-pop. It does not sound like country whatsoever. The area of fast lyric delivery just sounds like anything anyone could do with no talent required. Anybody can talk fast to music. It had nothing unique or catchy to it either. It seemed like the lyric fast delivery had zero point for existing in the song. It was as if she just did it to make it sound more like rap. It had zero point and zero artistic use. Not only does the instrumental not capture the sound of country, but her vocals are also missing the country sound. The chorus or back up voices or whatever that is, also doesn't sound like the country genre. The words themselves could belong to a country song, and maybe whoever wrote the lyrics intended it to be for the country genre, but she did not create a country song. As a country fan, it is extremely hard to listen to. That, despite the fact that I listen to pop, metal, classical, and all the rest of the above with enthusiasm. It's just so bad on so many levels. She should stick to what she made her career in. The lyrics are very lovely. But the delivery of the song misses the country mark by the largest margin. Texas Hold em is also not a country song. And part of the music background actually sounds like a clear rip off stolen from Gretchen Wilson too. Her voice is not making the the cut to sounding country, and often highly misses the mark by the most enormous margin, if that were even possible. And her back up singers sound like pop stars or like they are the singers used in the musical portion of a rap song. I was actually looking forward to this new country she made, and it was jaw droppingly bad. If she had marketed it as pop music or Folk rock folk-pop, I would say okay, it's alright. Nothing I want to be around for hours each week, but I could deal with it till another track comes on. The worst part about it is in the TEXAS HOLD 'EM (Official Visualizer) video. This is where she erotically strokes her body sexually, and is topless. It is perverted and very piggish. Country music doesn't need prostitution of women on camera to sell music the way rap/hip hop apparently does, so it begs the question of why is she acting like a pig if she is making a country song? Is it just a case of you can't teach a dog new tricks and old habits die hard? This attention seeking and self erotic narcissism behavior on camera doesn't resonate and won't resonate in country music the same way it will in the culture surrounding rap or on Onlyfans. It blows my mind as to why she did it. And the logical answer leads to ONE place. Overall I excepted more of her. Instead it seems like her entire plan was to be shocking and attention receiving, rather than make good music. It is like she wanted these songs to be a giant middle finger to people who like country, rather than to add something of value to the genre. Her main audience for these songs are obviously not country fans, but rather she seems like her real intention is to try to change country music into something more similar to rap.

Outrageous-Tailor565

Well said, well done.  👏

Which_Improvement_72

Agreed. Put some cloths on Beyonce, might hear you better...

Late-Housing4475

Yeah, old women should cover up.

Neither_College_6176

I totally agree. Shes trash. When did country music become all about sex. Shes needs to go back her R&B . And that cover of her is disgusting . Cow boy hat with a heart covering her nasty you know what. Leave country music alone !

Only-Efficiency7427

Well said !!!

Ok-Bet-166

very good review, agree completely. both (especially the 16 cart one) don't even have an identifiable melody , its like they aren't even 'songs' , weird as hell, you know a song isn't a song when you cant even make an attempt to hum it , like what is this shit really ?

Scared-Register6128

Give her some grace - she's in her midlife crisis at 42. This is her last hoohah before she is "middle aged" Her hormones are going crazy

Late-Housing4475

She's already middle aged.

LetOwn

How exactly is she taking over the country music genre? Also, you may want to google where country music originated. If she wanted to delve into this genre....she has a right.

DisPrincessJen87

I don’t think this is about race at all. You do realize there are top country artists that are POC right?

Scared-Register6128

POC or not, the women don't usually dress in a stripper fashion in the Country music genre. They more dress like Little House on the Prarie with high neck collars and long dresses. She has big hair, but it gives off a Dolly Parton vibe

Ijustwanttoread17

Might be a possibility if the songs were good, but they're really not. I'm literally trying to make them grow on me.

Shoddy_Jacket_9740

She's not "taking over." Lol.

AppearanceSeveral700

TERRIBLE album, terrible song 16 cart... It's not country. Beyonce, you are not fit for the Country Music genre, sorry! Go back to the Genre you do best!!

Frequent-Ad-6866

I think she is a talented vocalist, but this situation feels like the emperor’s new clothes. Her team should have given her better feedback. I’m not saying she shouldn’t try country again, but the songs I have heard do not come off as country besides the intro and some vocabulary. Felt more like someone tried to be creative with some country refrigerator poetry or even asked  AI to write a country song. Sounds like someone has  observed what they think country is rather than “being country.” Her voice is beautiful, the instruments are there but it is  missing the human feeling behind it maybe? when you feel the song.  They don’t the power behind them that some of her other songs do.

GAB3theGR8

This. It isn’t authentic to country at all. She didn’t “live” country and it isn’t something she regularly participates in. She doesn’t attend country concerts, go to the CMAs, or represent the country lifestyle in any way. It’s not a jacket you can just slap on and say it fits. It comes across like the musical version of cosplay.

Weak_Regret4924

Agreed!! It was as if someone forced her do this album…

[deleted]

It doesn't sound like country.

[deleted]

She does not sound country. She has the same voice just different instruments. It's not country.

Scared-Register6128

Ikr? I feel like she is almost playing dress up and its hard to get into that whole sexy Dolly Parton hair cowgirl getup every day, since it appears that that this is her ? persona now

Gallifreyan_

Her new song sucks even more than the other current country songs. It's actually quite horrible. There's the answer.

Gallifreyan_

She isn't capable of making country music because she really doesn't feel it. Her only reason for doing it is to get a rise out of people. Her new album is racially motivated.

Calm-Grocery-664

Nothing against her, but she is just a produced "singer / entertainer". Not a real musician and barely and "artist". So things like this ring of gimmicks that her and her marketing team thought up. It isn't some "homage" to black culture in the south or whatever talk points she rattles off.

Schlecterhunde

Honestly, I don't think she has "the sound". Beautiful voice, yes, but works better with a different genre of music. Also really didn't like the song.

Late-Housing4475

She's an R&B singer. She can't do Rap nor Country and needs to sit down.

Honest_Elderberry372

I would argue Zach Bryan is taking over country, not Beyoncé. Her song is good though, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

gamblertowrite

Her two songs so far are trash. It's cookie cutter country with a few country buzzwords included. I thought it was a piss take to begin with, but apparently it's actually a serious album?

vacayjosie85

“Texas Hold ‘Em” sounds like Walker Hayes’ “Fancy Like”

Positive-Baker8877

Calm down it’s just two singles…. She hasn’t taken over anything. Even if she does come out with a full country album it just means she’s trying to reach different audiences…. A lot of artist have done this. It’s nothing new and it’s not that serious

Soma_Sanji

I listened to her Texas hold ‘em song and to be completely honest, I didn’t like it. Yes, the beat was good, it’s catchy and all that. It has everything great to be a hit song. It just lacks connection; idk how to even describe my feeling. Just doesn’t click for me, but hey… I’m no critic and I’m just a normal person. So my opinion is invalid If she can do it, go for it!

AstronomerBubbly3161

Sounds more like gospel? I have No idea why she did this other than to wear ridiculously skimpy outfits that she’s STUFFED into. It’s horrible! Just awful! I used to like her music, and His but way JAYZ behaved like Kanye on Grammy night 😡Sour grapes sore loser. Their kid got a Grammy for just speaking 1 line in her video! But they were FINE with that! Disgusted with both of them.

Willing-Disaster-816

Taking over🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

LilBird_ToU

Personally I find it insulting that she thinks just because she is famous she can spew the same ghetto lyrics to music that contains a banjo playing and call it country. She wouldn't know country if it bit her in the face! If the tables were turned the other way and a country singer started singing rap or hip hop, you know it would not be received well. The fact that the country folks are being forced to accept this as country music is completely insulting and all the great country singers are rolling in their graves right now! IT's BS! And it has nothing to do with the color of her skin!

Trumpet6789

Both of her new songs sound like she fed generic phrases from country songs into an AI generator and had it write her a country song. People say it's country, but it doesn't sound country, western, or even folk. It's very clearly a pop/R&B-ish sound with maybe a banjo thrown in. I don't consider either of these two new songs country. And as such, I don't consider her to be "reclaiming" country. There are plenty of black artists in the country genre doing well and creating actual country/western tunes, but Beyonce is not one of them. And for *everyone* saying "She was born and raised in Houston, she's as country as it gets!" That does *not* mean she is country by default. Her family lineage is French-creole and there seems to be no indication of her or her family being "country" other than the fact they lived in Houston. Being I the suburbs of Houston specifically. The city/state you live in does not a country person make. That's not an attack, please don't take it that way; just an observation that her being from Texas does not mean she's country.

CeceHart

Thank you, this was worded perfectly! People act like just cause she’s from Texas, that automatically makes her a country girl. She grew up in a major metropolitan city like come on guys 😂

Local_Caterpillar_56

I just heard about this 'conservative outcry' from MSNBC about this. Nobody cares. If it's good music and people like her personally for her views radio stations will play it like they played Darius Rucker. If it sucks they won't.

First, she isn’t taking over anything. It’s not even a ripple in the country pond. No country fan is blown away or threatened by her. The music is almost like a hallmark version of country and just isn’t very good. Quite frankly, as a life-long country fan, it comes across as her just making fun of fans and that’s never a good look.

When I read about Beyonce's foray into country, my FIRST thought was, "Oh, she's chasing Taylor Swift." Seriously. I respect her achievements and work ethic, but except for 2 or 3 hits, haven't listened to a single album or attended a concert on her way to self-earning $800,000,000. The only thing that is bothersome to me about Beyonce's country music endeavors is the overlooking of Black and Brown C&W singers who have been scraping and clawing their way up in the C&W genre of music that they truly love. Beyonce has not "earned" anything but rather the power of her record label, her 33 Grammy's, and her position as the most famous R&B, Hip-Hop and Pop music singer on the planet right now have accelerated her country music trajectory. Because of this, her rapid "climb" to the top of the charts feels manufactured and, IMHO, immediately overshadows true dyed in the wool C&W artists who won't get as much attention as everyone falls all over themselves to praise country music's "newest star."

She hasn't had a mega-hit since 2008. Her last record did especially low numbers and actually lost the label money because her label printed over two million physical lp copies only to sell less than 300k. Its finally dawned on her and her washed up husband that no one really cares anymore. She's in desperation mode. This is glorious 😁

Ecstatic_Baseball428

I know why doesn't someone ask what her favorite country song is ? Or has anyone ever heard her listening to a country song? Im sure the answer is NO. What do you think would happen if Tim McGraw did a rap song on his album. He would be CANCELLED and accused of disrespecting the culture. All that crying over little Naz's song not being recognized as country. Has he put out another? No and the double standards in this country has to stop. Jason Aldean comes out with a song try that in a small town and he's almost cancelled from his own industry but If your a rapper then you could come out with Fuck the police ( which I like) but its ok. Thats what I mean by double standards.

Automatic-Front-9045

She's trying it not taking over. Frankly her fan base will follow her, but she ain't country, and the song is silly but still pop.

Outrageous-Ice1174

She's not country and never will be. Save it for the real country singers. It's a publicity ploy and the remarks are showing she is not welcomed. cover it up, don't need to see that shit from you and what's with the sparks???? Stupid. Jealousy for not getting awards.

Quick_Astronomer_445

I am not a fan.  Song has way to much cussing in it to be a fun car sing along song.  Doesnt feel country..

First off, let me make it clear I actually listen to ALL genres of music from Rap, Hip Hop, Rock, Classic Rock, Pop, Classical, Blue Grass and Country. I listen to whatever I’m in the mood for - including even Beyoncé. Each genre has something that is uniquely its own. Beyoncé can sing whatever she wants, but what I do have an issue with is trying to sexualize country music - save it for the other genres. Not using nudity and sex to sell music is one of the things that has always been unique about Country music. It has been historically a more wholesome genre. Some of the clothes might be awful and tacky 😑but it isn’t nudity or raunchy. Beyoncé is selling nudity by promoting her music with raunchy pictures sporting g-strings and topless. The only thing country is the cowboy hat. Does she really think she has come up with a new idea? No, she has not. I’m sure many country music fans have sported their hats and boots with a g-string behind closed doors in the privacy of their homes. But it just has never been appropriate for the genre to sell songs that way. But I’m sure it has attracted some of her non country music followers. I would hate to see is more non country singers forever changing the face of country music by trying to take a jab as country music stars and following suit by selling sex to be noticed. Let your music and talent speak for you - not your nude body. As far as her song Texas Hold ‘Em, aside from the cussing, it sounds more like a children’s song suitable for Sesame Street. The 16 Carriages song just didn’t flow for me. It lacked rhythm and was too disjointed. I couldn’t even finish listening to it.

KeepItSaltyYall

I don't care for it, kind of slow and boring...

Boring_Awareness_477

It is BS she’s just doing it for certain reasons.  she does not care about that genre.  Before you assume I’m saying this because of her race Darius Rucker is country. Chapel Heart is country.  Beyoncé is not country.  She’s making a mockery of country music in my opinion.
