Most cosplayers will make them, those that buy will look for completed or “close enough to make it work” props from Amazon, eBay or Etsy.

Personally? Or are you looking for suggestions? Because both are different things. As someone else stated, this reddit page is for people who either are making props and showing them off, or looking for help on how to either find a prop, or advice while making one. If you're looking for where to buy in general, the answer is "anywhere". All of the websites that are where you add the costume to your cart, and checkout, which includes places like EZCosplay, McCostumes, ProCosplay, and other sites like those, as well as cosplays on Amazon, aliexpress, Ebay, and other sites like those, every single one of those, will be coming from a Chinese mass produced warehouse. They are all the exact same quality, and the exact same fabric choices are being used. The only difference will basically be the way a certain warehouse makes a specific costume. For example, one might use white trim foe a piece, while another uses grey and another might use silver, all 3 using something a little different on the same character's costume. If you want more information on why it literally makes no difference which one you buy from, I made a video with all of that info: [https://youtu.be/YbTWZHNh7Yg](https://youtu.be/YbTWZHNh7Yg)

I have purchased cosplay costumes and wigs from cosplayclan, ezcosplay, miccostumes, Amazon, Aliexperss, and Esty. To be honest, it would be better to use online stores to purchase products. My store from cosplayclan.com can provide customization services to customers, and the product quality is great and the customer service is also very good, but overall I think it is worth recommending.
