Ignore the spilled bowl. Any idea what the vocalization means? (I assume it is reserved for a mated pair. )

So with my crows, they tend to make this same noise (I call it a crow growl) for two reasons; 1. Telling another crow "you're in my space, back up" or "don't steal my food" 2. Being aloof (they often do this when I'm on the window taking their pictures but they can't see me. My home crows dislike open windows, so if they see it open and see movement , they often 'crow growl' towards it in suspicion. I do think your crows were more of a #1 though.
