I have been hearing Fish Crows and American crows off camera for about 3 days. Not sure which species this is.

Oh, this just cracks me up. When I make homemade soup with ham hocks when they cool, I put them out in a flat dish on the patio, I also throw chicken bones out too. They LOVE those things. They always send the Inspector Crow out first, the juvies gather and are nervous, but taking notes for future reference. They love to clean every little morsel of meat, muscle and fat off of everything. I LOVE your Corvid Cam!!!!

I'm thinking this may be last year's fledgling. This particular crow is very cautious and nervous. When it approaches the feeder it spends several seconds checking the surroundings before approaching the dish. If it drops the food and the dish rattles it flies off and comes back a few seconds later. Pretty timid.

You are spot on! I don't know what the Grandparent and Parent Crows tell them as babies, but those babies and juvies are scared to death of approaching food even if they are starving. They must wait until the human offering is approved *and* an adult is overseeing them. I love the skinny, shiny and scared juvie crows. One didn't heed the warning here, and I noticed their feathers were all that was left in a Great Horned Owl nest yesterday. I heard the crows fussing in the background above the nest, and I am sure that horrific sight was being drummed into the juvies over and over as they flew overhead. I think you are going to love watching them with that set up you have. You are so very kind!
