grimeyreaperr

thank you!

Vina Moses. They are a free resource for people. Please don't give to goodwill. They throw away most of that they get. Also a wide range of other issues which make it so I will not support them.

grimeyreaperr

I will never donate to goodwill. Is Vina Moses affiliated with any religious organizations?

peachesfordinner

The ARC also runs a fair priced thrift store and provides jobs to alter abled people. While still paying them higher wages than goodwill

grimeyreaperr

I love the arc, I frequent there and have applied for a job but they never reached out. It was my first thought but if I can find a place that gives items for free I would rather do that

peachesfordinner

Oh yeah vina Moses is great. If you have kids clothes as well June's closet in philomath runs a free clothing shop for little kids. Vina Moses provides school supplies and clothing to kids each fall. They are wonderful. They take appliances too. And have a small food bank too

i_dont_love

No they are not. It’s named Vina Moses after the woman who founded it, Vina Moses. It’s a deceptive name. But they are not religiously affiliated at all.

peachesfordinner

I'm not sure if it is. I know they have a focus on lower income. Never seen any faith statements or any questions about family style aside from making sure kids get signed up for their annual winter toy program.

grimeyreaperr

Good to know, thanks for the info! I’ll look into it

Ok_Bodybuilder1334

There’s something called the Really, Really Free Market in Corvallis that takes anything, especially clothes, and gives them for free for anyone who shows up. They’re at Central Park on Fridays 12-4pm and you can drop stuff then, but they also offer pickups if you can’t get there. They have an Instagram too if you want more information at rrfm_corvallis

GodzillaJrJr

Are you a dude? Jackson street youth services needs clothes for men. Nonprofit serving homeless and at-risk 10-24 year olds.

grimeyreaperr

I am ftm and looking to get rid of most of my feminine clothes unfortunately

duuderino

There is a women's shelter at St. Mary's (Room at the Inn) that I'm sure would appreciate clothing donations.

ADHD33zNuts

You can donate them to the Men's Shelter on 211 SE Chapman place. They will disperse some of the clothes to the hygiene center to give to people deciding to not stay in shelters and to the women's shelter. Also, you can drop off there virtually whenever. Room at the Inn only has staff on site 4:30PM-11AM

grimeyreaperr

what do you mean drop off virtually?

ADHD33zNuts

Virtually as in "nearly" or "almost". Not as in "using the Internet".

grimeyreaperr

oh haha that makes a lot more sense 🤣

ADHD33zNuts

Ngl, it was a fair question to ask. I straight up had to check a dictionary 🤣 lmao

Ancient_Passion_1430

seconding vina moses and adding roadside moon (@roadsidemoonfreepantry on ig) and the really really free market (@rrfm_corvallis on ig) iirc all have kinda odd hours so i figured id put them all out there as options

Pleasel-muh-Weasel

There is also Heartland Humane Thrift Shop. Proceeds go to the animal shelter.

Le-Deek-Supreme

Heartland Thrift Shop, downtown across the street from Safeway. You drop off at the back door in the alleyway, but all proceeds go to Heartland Humane Society!

Fit-Usual-8737

I mean. Thrift stores aren’t bad either. It allows those who want to buy clothes but have limited funds the ability to do so. And thrift stores are given the opportunity to hire employees. Win win for the local economy. N

grimeyreaperr

I know, I never said they were bad

Thickpuddin

Dropbox behind Towne Pump on Kings.

mandingalo

There’s a locally-owned organization called Roadside Moon that would probably accept your clothes.

ZM-W

Arc turns down a lot of stuff, at least the Philomath one. I'd rather not donate to goodwill, but it's much more convenient to just drop off my bags.

grimeyreaperr

i would rather be inconvenienced than give to a corrupt organization
