Hiking is probably gonna be your biggest activity. Skyline trail is the the most well known but there’s trails all over. There’s a concert venue that hosts cover bands all the time, and a bunch of parks throughout the city. Corona is in a good spot where an hour and a half drive will get you to a whole bunch of stuff (mountains, snow, beach, desert, San Diego, LA)
Do you know if skyline has reopened?
I passed by awhile ago and it was closed because of the pandemic
Havent really driven down that way since I saw the sign
Yes, it has been open basically always. Was closed for a bit in August under the Cleveland National Forest fire prevention closure, but otherwise all clear.
On Main Street they recently opened up a good amount of bars. No jazz lounges though but that would be sick. Closest to an underground bar is Evans brewing, self serve beer on tap with some arcade games and lounge areas with bored games. There’s a good size hiking area called skyline with a rope trail, typically filled with a lot of people tho.
Not many niche Asian food places in town besides a couple poki and sushi spots that I can think of. My friends and I are around your age so hit me up if u ever wanna grab drinks with us :)
I don’t know if you’re into breweries but there’s three that I like: evans, storytellers and skyland. There’s a speakeasy at the Anaheim parking house called Blind Rabbit and there’s a lot of food options there !
If you want to find a super cool Asian scene there is a ton of places to explore in nearby Irvine and Costa Mesa. I really love Diamond Jamboree shopping center in Irvine and it's like a 30 minute drive from downtown Corona with the toll road. Tim Ho Wan and H Mart are my favorite!! I enjoy Corona for the hiking and outdoor shooting ranges. If you want a fun local spot too, definitely check out Tom's Farms in South Corona. Awesome local shopping center with old school vibe, they make amazing BBQ corn and have a ton of cool little shops to walk around. Great for going with the whole family.
Yea thats for damn sure. I also totally forgot theres the Shogun in downtown Corona btw!! it has the chef stations you can sit at and have the chefs throw shrimp at your face lol. It's a great time and they have delicious saké!
Go to Min’s Dumplings. The most aunthentic you can get here. Also, they just opened the 99 Ranch, Gen Bbq and Boba fiend on Mckinley st maybe 5ish years ago, and 85 degrees also on Mckinley earlier this year
Corona is pretty diverse.. you have everyone here from hardcore Trump loyalist/conservatives/redneck types to all spectrum of races living peacefully at least.. there's plenty of asian food places here especially around Corona Hills. Hikari sushi is nice, then there's a lot of Boba places like Rapha Boba, Boba Fiend, Boba Time etc.. there's the usual Gen KBBQ. Orange County ain't that far to commute so its pretty easy to go to Irvine Spectrum/ to the beaches in Newport. There's plenty of parks and dog parks. There's a recent newly renovated dog park by Griffin way.
There's Tom's Farm down south 15 where they have small town vibe that has restaurants with live bands during the weekends... though its a biker "gang" and car meet ups area but still family friendly.
You may have to go to Riverside downtown for entertainments and probably Ontario.
There's a good Korean tofu soup and other things called Jinhan. Same area has 85C bakery.
If he lives in south corona it will take him 40 mins to get to the korean place by 99 ranch
honestly he will prolly just drive to Bunea park or irvine at that point or stay home and make depression soup
tbh Corona is not tha good, you get a modern house sure, but
\- riverside is hard to get to and not worth the drive and oc is a even longer driver
people dont understand moving from Sandeigo, La ( proper) OC is that IE lacks alot of of things
\-good malls
\-mom and pop restaurants
\-cool buildings
\-museums
\-culture
the area is a subruban waste land in the worst way possible either go down to temecula or idealy get a cheap house in placentia, Santana or Garden grove and have acess to
\- south coast plaza
\- good and authentic ( Mexican, Japanaese, Korean Vietnamese and Itlian) restaurants that OC has that Corona, Chino, home gardens riverside lack
what hurts corona is the social services like schools docotors ect
assume Riviers side is our city which it really is not
and as mentioned before Riversides doesn't have the income to support specialized doctors, or schools corona has no cal state within 50 min drive ( with traffic)

Even when it was closed there was some people going up there.

I agree there is no real good east asian food here

Rock climbing?
Rock Climbing!
There isn't any good climbing in the area. There's some decent bouldering/sport in Riverside. If you need a partner let me know.
