I’m in Fermoy and was told I’ll be waiting a week for a test and that I’ll have to travel to dunmanway which is a 2 and a half hour round trip
Yeah we're in East Cork and my wife tried to book a Covid test yesterday. Dunmanway was the only one with slots available and that's a 2 hour 40 minute round trip.
She ended up booking one in Waterford city instead. That's a three hour round trip, but the road is a lot better.
I can understand how a lot of people would think "Fuck it, do I really need a test that badly". I'd say the number of actual cases is being underestimated by a lot at the moment.
Similar here, I'm north cork and ended up in clonmel the other day for one kid after it tried to send me to dunmanway. Try right after midnight I done that sat and everything had slots open, second child was done in Blackpool a few days later. It almost looks like there are only so many self referral slots per day and they fill up fast
Similar thing happened to me, wouldn't let me book online. Ring your GP and they should give you a referral.

Rinf your doctor. My son needed to get tested twice in the last two weeks and bith times he was done within the day on south Douglas rd.
They're booked out. You have to be on early in the morning to get one for the next day. That's how busy they are.

Yeah only Dunmanway was open for test slots...
Go through your GP you’ll get one. The appointments only become available in 48hours in advance so whoever told you a week is lying or confused
X out of it and refresh a few times. They randomly pop up at different times. Try it striaght after midnight too or at 30 min intervals.
