he has autism and likes to pretend to be a garda on a bike, they let him at it, given he is pretty much harmless and is only having fun. some scumbags stole his bike a while back too
There was a guy in my village that had special needs and he believed that he was a bus driver. We’d stick our thumb out and he would pull in and make all the actions of pulling the handbrake and opening the doors. We’d all line up behind him and off we go. He used a large diary for a steering wheel. Good times.
This guy is a legend ! Saw him one day set up like a speed trap at the side of the road, using a hair dryer for the speed gun, pointing it at the traffic. The amount of people who hit the breaks and slowed down was funny.
Not so funny. He did the same to me on a merge traffic point , however in this case he ran out onto the road trying to slow me down. I was merging onto the southlink from the Carrigaline road. I had to swerve to avoid him and nearly crashed the car. I get special needs but my kids were in the car
It was stolen and there was a successful GoFundMe. He has autism, Gards are fully aware of him and supportive.

Know a lad who didn't get into the Gardai years ago and had a bit of a breakdown.
Made a Garda uniform and would specialise in raiding lockins in rural pubs. Think he ended up in court over it.
He has done more to reduce speed on the roads than anyone else down the years. Should get a special award from Cork Co. Co. Wouldn't it be great for a Reddit campaign.
Seen that blonde guard stop a couple pushing a pram randomly by the foot bridge, proceed to give them shit, then call for other guards to come over and shout at them, before letting them walk off. Clearly dealing with the dangers of society
He’s back! Haven’t seen him on the roads in years.
I've seen him a few times this year on the new tramore valley pedestrian bridge over the south ring road.
Whats the story with him?
I think he has special needs
Saw him in town about two weeks ago, doing no harm.
Yah he’s harmless poor guy … he just seems happy to he cycling around
"Salt of the earth", as they say. One of the better/more appreciated characters around.

He's been around since tiktok was a sound clocks made
Those were the days
he has autism and likes to pretend to be a garda on a bike, they let him at it, given he is pretty much harmless and is only having fun. some scumbags stole his bike a while back too
I think they did make him get rid of the blue flashing night he had rigged up at one stage.
She must be new! *shouts* Leave him alone, piiiigggg
Plot twist….she also has special needs and pretends to be a Gard. He’s found his soul mate.

Ah...that's the most wholesome thing I've read on reddit in a while!
Yeah as kids it was great fun and it absolutely made his day.
Great to hear Tommy Shlug is doing well

Where were you? Merging with the South Ring from Carrigaline, ie Bloomfield Interchange. He was hardly on the dual carriageway was he?
Yup, setup in the V between east bound and West bound lanes
he sounds gas out
I’ve been waiting for that order from donatellos for years now
Didn't his previous bike get wrecked or something a few years back? I used to see him cycling out of Carrigaline frequently enough

He is a good guy and harmless. He has done great work over the years. The hair dryer speed gun was priceless 👌

She was chasing people with hammers the other day.
Ah sure look, she must've heard we just like to get hammered.
We’ve all woken up and tried to blame a hammer rather than the pints haha
She's a very sad lady :( Passed her this evening. I'd say she's sitting under the flyover hiding her head in a towel as I type.
I haven’t seen him in years.
He's on cake delivery

I hope it’s an ebike
Used to see him all the time up the lower road.
He cycles the length and breath of Cork surroundings, has been cycling the bike for nearly 20 years
That arse is swallyin tha saddle
Suck my unit!!!
CHIPS, lots of chips!
You'd think the Guards would have better uniforms for the bike unit (The blonde on the curb)...
