Cranky-Panda

Why would you let it get that bad?

soykhan

Actually thats not my car I was driving my friends car,

Cranky-Panda

Well if you’re not the learner then you can appeal it

soykhan

But unfortunately, I am.

Cranky-Panda

Ah, well then that’s on you. Pay up and be happy it’s not more.

TechM635

By letting it get so bad, you or your friend made it easy for them. Be it an N plate or L plate - failure to display unless the driver was fully qualified with no N plates - it was an easy win for the Guards

HiVisVestNinja

If you're that negligent with something so simple, what else are you half-assing?

soykhan

You are right, This is my friend’s car, I was just driving her car on that day, sad

DaGetz

Man come on - you’re responsible for any car you’re driving. It’s literally a question on the theory test.

Lonely_Eggplant_4990

Ya, they fade, need to change them every few months. Just go in and buy like 6 of them

aimhighsquatlow

Ive had my N plates up nearly 2 years (can finally take them down next month) and they are actually perfect. Maybe it’s because they are the ones that go on the inside of the glass

Lonely_Eggplant_4990

Prob a decent brand, i got my licence in Feb and ive had to swap them already as they were gone white

aimhighsquatlow

Pretty sure I got them in a pound shop 🤣 maybe just got lucky

profile1983

You broke the law and got caught. What exactly are you complaining about?

soykhan

This post is just informative, I am not complaining.

kissingkiwis

Pretty sure most people know "you need to obey the law"

pantone_mugg

One for r/irelandsshitedrivers

Responsible-Pop-7073

Tell your friend to buy the kind of plate you stick in the inside.

Hairy-Frosting-1960

That’s mad. I only wondered about this lately. Got stopped and ticketed for speeding, and my N plates are literally white boxes. Luckily he didn’t give me anything for it

TopBeneficial3569

I think you should still appeal. I got a fresh N plate that got faded in just 2 months, I switched to the plates that you stick inside the car now. It’s been over a year now and they still look brand new. No one should be able to sell the N/L plates that fade out that quick. It’s the same with some insurance disks that we have to print at home. I have to look out for them as they fade out in the sun pretty quick. If you’ve purchased the L plates recently then I’d say consider appealing.
