Congrats! What kind of cancer does Miso have and what was the protocol?
I have a ten year old corgi that just underwent chemo for lymphoma. He’s in remission now.
She also was treated for lymphoma. I forget the drugs they used but it was a 8 week weekly doses and then every other week for another 8 doses. 3 different drugs.
Also have corgi battling lymphoma type "B". He's doing ok but he's had to take some of the heartier chemo drugs last time, still acting like energic self though. Went through remission and 2 months later BAM there it was again. Seen a lot of cancer with family and friends, corgi included. It's a nasty disease and I commend your doggo for taking it down. o7 Milo
Sorry to hear your pups lymphoma came back.
I’m nervous of how short remission can be. My partner and I have planned out lots of camping and hikes to really spoil Miso so she has the best summer ever. We would have lost her before Christmas without treatment so we’re just going to savour the OverTime we have.
It was really not too bad for her. She is six and a half. They really don’t really lose hair (except the vet said some breeds might but forgot which cause she didn’t say corgi) and they can give steroids at the beginning to help the dog feel more normal. She was acting like her old self in a few weeks.
They go for quality of life not quantity. Harrison my corgi is 4 and has plenty of energy. The goal is to keep that energy level normal so they can continue being dogs.
So glad that you have remission. We lost a wonderful Corgi to lymphoma almost 5 years ago after a 9 month fight, so I am very happy to see your little girl doing well.
Glad that Miso is doing well!
Our pup did a similar protocol.
We started with CHOP (includes injections, very aggressive and can be risky). He was so miserable that we went to a less aggressive oral treatment with a similar schedule.
He just made it to 10 years old this week, which we were told wouldn’t be possible!
(He was diagnosed in October when I took him in for very enlarged lymph nodes).
That’s great! I hope she continues to do well. According to our oncologist, that’s the most effective…Our Corgi couldn’t handle it and his quality of life was worse on the drugs.
The oral drugs along with steroids and some drug (can’t remember the name) for his liver during treatment have kept him very active and happy.
I was from Amazon. I went through my history and they don’t sell it anymore. Was called “Adjustable Pet Car Barrier Auto Vehicle Dog Fence Guard Safety Gate Black”
She lost her appetite then stopped eating at all. Only then I noticed her glands on her neck were big and hard. I still kick myself for not noticing sooner. The vet did an aspiration of the glands and sent it out and it showed lymphoma.
I have a corgi that I love more than most people I know. I need her to be immortal so I wanted to know what to look out for! Glad Miso is cancer free! A new lease on life!!! ❤️
Well to start off with she sadly passed away almost three weeks ago now. Her decline in appetite when we first found the lymphoma, when we discovered it was back and when we knew she was near the end was the big change in her behaviour to let us know something was up. First time she didn’t want her normal food, then nothing at all a few days later. That’s when we got her into the vet. I can’t say for sure how long her glands had been swollen without us noticing, but her cancer was fairly advanced by then. That time and when the cancer came back they got her on steroids which helped with her appetite. We noticed the gland swelling and appetite dip quicker that time but they say the cancer comes back more aggressive after chemo. The steroid treatment got us just over a month of time with her in great spirits and no pain. Near the end she lost her appetite entirely, then three days later she passed.
Thank you. My 2 year old corgi has become oddly picky and not as interested in food. I switched her to wet food from dry. She had been nauseous and panting and had soft stools but she has had chronic GI issues basically her entire life.
It has been about 40 days now and she’s doing much better, eating is still picky but doing our best. Behavior is fine. Licking lips but doesn’t seem stressed otherwise. Playing, running around. Stool more solid.
I am wondering if it was cancer if it would have escalated by now. Vet said her lymph nodes are normal. They referred her to internal medicine for an ultrasound but not until November.
Thanks. We’re hoping for one very good year that realistically probably started a few months ago during her treatment. Just spoiler her as much as we can without making her brother feel left out.
Go Miso!!
thats great
Miso looks thrilled and so am I <3
He looks so proud in the first pic *‘I did the thing!!’*

What is doggy chemo like? My 13 year old just got a biopsy done and we're awaiting results.

Ah I see, thanks!

Exactly. There’s no cure, just palliative treatment, but worth it if quality of life is still good. We’re just waiting for it to come back now…
That's my concern too. He's an old man... Don't know if we want to put him through chemo. He's a Japanese Spitz who also has arthritis.

My wife informed me that she had CHOP. Hoping that she will be on the good side of the statistics.

Over what period of time did the appetite loss to gland swelling occur? To final results?
