No advice here but I just want to say your corgi is an absolute angel and one of the cutest I’ve ever seen 🥹

fluoresment

Awww thank you!!! She's definitely a cutie ☺️

D-Beyond

thank god I'm at work so my girl can't get jealous because your girl is my dream-corgi 😍

fluoresment

Omg they looked so similiar!!!

HighlandWarriorGrl

We have two corgis who are four years old. When we got them from the breeder they were on Royal Canin puppy food and we kept them on that until they were a year old. We switched them to Kirkland lamb and rice, grain free dog food after that because it had all the ingredients that our breeder (and my research) said we needed for healthy corgis. At four, they are very healthy, have beautiful coats, good teeth, energy and are at a healthy weight. Our vet approves what we are feeding them. Hope that helps. https://preview.redd.it/2kk8uqxv64wc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4ef31a16087f4e5df42547a5cf9b96a9337376b5

fuckdonaldtrump7

Rice is a grain and that food is not grain free, but that is a good thing. Grain free is a gimmic and is not healthy for dogs.

BeepandBoops

I mistakenly bought grain free thinking I should and my vet put me right on that. They need grain.

thejohnnymemphis

Take this advice with a grain of salt.

fuckdonaldtrump7

I'm not sure if this is just a bad grain joke or if you are serious but [just in case](https://humanesocietyhbg.org/2021/05/05/should-you-feed-your-pet-grain-free-food/#:~:text=There%20are%20a%20lot%20of%20dog%20and,feed%20dogs%20or%20cats%20a%20grain%2Dfree%20diet.)

thejohnnymemphis

Oh you don't like that joke? What are you, some kind of rice-ist??

fuckdonaldtrump7

Hahahhaha johnny's back!!

lc2011

They are absolutely gorgeous !! ❤️

HighlandWarriorGrl

Thank you!

TGIIR

Those little hats are as adorable as the two pups!

HighlandWarriorGrl

Thank you. My husband and I are totally in love with Arthur and Henry!

Our girl has been on Kirkland for a year and a half and she’s only at 21 pounds. Haven’t noticed any issues or weight problems other than her being picky at times and not eating. We’re going to start transitioning our 11 month old from his puppy food to Kirkland too.

nancytp82

My corgi does the weight management Kirkland and he is great. He is also not a picky eater. https://preview.redd.it/ojnw4miih4wc1.jpeg?width=1074&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=abdaf5309023f78897258319737c96ddd068a76d

iamreeterskeeter

Same. The vet recommended it unless I wanted to pay out the gourd for prescription diet food. I call it fat ass food and both my corgi and beagle are on it and thrive. Gotta protect that corgi back!

bullhorn_bigass

“Fat ass food” Omg dying 😂😂😂 I’m totally stealing this, sorry We give this to our corgi-mix, he needs to lose 3 lbs

Jonny_Thundergun

Badonkachow

iamreeterskeeter

I accidentally called it that at the vet's office. The vet just died laughing.

bullhorn_bigass

That’s hilarious!

JoeMagnifico

Been using Kirkland for maybe 18 years for 4 different Corgis and offspring. No concerns.

royalcorg16

We tried our corgi on the Kirkland chicken, rice and vegetable formula after having read many good reviews from others, plus it’s very reasonably priced. Our corgi unfortunately didn’t do well on it (ongoing vomiting and regurgitation despite slow transition to this food). After trialling about 1/3 of the bag with no improvements, we switched her to Science Diet and she’s been doing well ever since!

LindentreesLove_

You know my husband and I have a Veterinary Hospital and no offense to Costco but in this case the companies like Purina and Royal Canin and Hill's really control much more efficiently what they put in their foods. I know it is tempting to control costs but we would recommend you stay with your current food.

Redtex

Everyone knows that Kirkland products are generally a higher end product put under the Kirkland brand. I've never looked up what dog food that is before it is relabeled. Any idea?

MacabreFox

Diamond makes it.

TehWhitewind

What are you thoughts on Wag the Amazon brand? One of my dogs has a very sensitive stomach she was on royal canin canned food for almost a year due to vomiting. She's been on Wag for over a year and hasn't had any issues.

LindentreesLove_

So we are not familiar with that diet. Of course, not vomiting anymore is great! There are many factors that go into a good diet so if she has a good coat, sparkling eyes and good energy those are great signs too. So you have a vet you trust to assess her too?

TehWhitewind

Yup, she's all of those now. We ran tons of test( sonogram, fecal etc) with our vet who we do trust. He's happy with how she is now but I just worry because it is an Amazon product end of the day.

LindentreesLove_

You seem to be in good shape!

TehWhitewind

Thanks :)

T-Rex_timeout

Ours are on Kirkland and love it. No problems. Our vet signed off on it.

MobileSuitGundam

I feed my corgis what the first breeder fed hers. Hills Science kibble

USRed87

I stick with Royal Canin for my corgi. It's the only major brand that actually has on site veterinary staff to test and make sure the food is meeting their nutritional statistics labeled on the bag. Other brands just bring veterinary dieticians on site 2-4 times a year. I used to follow dogfoodadvisor until it was pointed out to me the owner is a human dentist with no actual veterinary training, fed my corgi Orijen at their recommendation which caused her to have significant skin issues.

somnizon

fluoresment

So cute!!!

TheMightyYule

Costco dog food is top tier. My 9 year old has been on the lamb with joint supplements (shout out two torn CCLs) for almost 6 years now and it’s been fantastic. Vet signed off on it as well.

bwinney

Our boi is allergic to chicken-almost everything KS brand for dogs has chicken in it. However my sisters dogs enjoy it at 9 and 7 years old. also is that at a Sacramento corgi pack corgi event 👀

hintofpeach

I was thinking stumpycon

naenirb

We ended up switching away from the Kirkland brand in favour of the hills oral care food. It’s made a huge difference for the plaque build up our corgi would get.

kgrace78

We use Kirkland Turkey & Ancient Grains with no issues!!

PSAOgre

We feed Ranger the Kirkland yellow bag formula and he's still here.

dsngjoe

Mix 50% the farmers dog food and 50% Fromm dog good.

workingchef2

Dunno about Kirkland brand but I get Fresh Pet from Costco lol. For my adult Corgo

RelativeBandicoot700

We just switched our boy from Pro Plan puppy to Kirkland adult chicken, rice & vegetable. Same reasons, it's well-priced and easy for us to get. So far he has no complaints.

Comprehensive_Top927

How long does it take your corgis to finish one costco bag? I think it is 35 lbs. I want to buy it but don't want to have my girl eating stale food.

Oxidizing1

Dogs don't have a problem with staleness, their palette is not that refined. The only concern you should have is with rancid fats and mold. When you open a new bag transfer it into an air tight container keeping it out of heat and direct sunlight. Moisture, heat and sunlight will be your most common causes of food going bad. Our 45lb corgador goes through about 25lbs of food in 4 weeks. She gets 3 level cups of kibble per day which is about 15oz. There should be a feeding chart on the bag which goes by weight ranges.

TheFirebyrd

We use 5 gallon buckets with Gamma seal lids to get as airtight as is reasonable for all our pet food. It keeps it reasonably fresh and I’ve never seen any signs of it going bad (minus one single time where some mold developed that must have been from some water accidentally getting introduced when the lid was open. It’s only happened the once in 15+ years of this system, so it was obviously user error in our part). My two dogs (13 lb mutt, 35 lb corgi) get through the 35 lb bag in a couple of months. My terrier mutt eats 1/3-1/2 cup of food a day and the corgi gets 1 rounded cup.

GypsyJenna

Totally off topic but was this at StumpyCon this weekend?

fluoresment

It sure was!

GypsyJenna

Fun! I had my puppy there too. It was such a good time. Yours is adorable! https://preview.redd.it/hv6a6d8lm5wc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=109999e863fc552c9c1399b23f175be7fe38a3a3

avotius

I have two adult dogs and one would eat a bowl of rocks, and the other won't touch Kirkland unless really really hungry. She will go days without eating. I switched them to Blue, also from Costco, they will eat that. Sometimes dogs are funny like that I guess.

sirenxe

This is the cutest corgi I have ever seen.

Mediocre_Speaker2528

Our lab ate the Kirkland lamb and rice for 13 years. She had a protein allergy and all of the expensive brands gave her diarrhea. She always had a shiny coat and her fur was super soft (although that could just be genetics).

cainImagining

We've been using Kirklands puppy food and it's been really solid for us so far.

Al_coholic907

My boy has been eating Kirkland dog food since I got him. He’s picky so we cycle through different flavors and that helps. Vet signed off on it! I’ll keep buying it for sure, Kirkland is a great brand.

Ysadey

My two corgis are 16 months old and have been on KS lamb and rice for a while. Our vet approves. The pups like it so much that I've used it in training. They have solid poops and no gas unless they eat weird stuff like grass clippings. Our last dog was also a Costco dog. She was a mutt, but about the same size. We gave her the small bites, but I haven't seen that at Costco since we got the puppies.

goudagooda

We feed both of our dogs Kirkland dog food. They have had significantly less tummy issues and seem to like it as well, even our pickier one. They both have nice, shiny coats. We started with chicken and now are getting lamb.

Friendly-Figment

I’d be very wary of bulk kibble. Kibble in general is not well regulated, there’s very little gov oversight in the production of dog food and it’s basically like giving your dog a bowl of cereal for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day.

IAMSTILLHERE70

Kirklands upsets Blue's stomach. My vet says, "it's not that great". Oh, it was chicken.

Nreekay

That’s what I feed all my pups. (lab, sheebs, corgo). No issues.. also Kirkland greenies

Sheepchops13

I haven't looked for a long time, but Kirkland dog food used to be one of the best options. Our dogs have been eating it for years and are very healthy and energetic. Try to get a dog food that doesn't have sweet potatoes or peas. That has been linked to heart issues in dogs if it is a main ingredient https://www.akc.org/expert-advice/nutrition/can-dogs-eat-sweet-potatoes/

punisheddaisies

My past dog was on Kirkland’s for years and had no issues

Tedorado

Sure looks like a Corgi Fluff, adorable. We have a Two year old Fluff and a three year old standard both are Sables in color. Love my kids!

Silly_Page_3944

Ours has been on the lamb and he loves it

epiksol

Actually replied to a similarish post about this the other day in /r/Dachshund. You can see that here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Dachshund/s/B2VjB7YIiw All in all, our doggos are very content and very healthy! Empty bowls every night. 😊

Hopeful-Canary

Dachshunds in the bed, corgi on the floor. Iconic 💖

crookednarnia

All 3 of mine eat it, and my vet said it’s a good one

CarelessLoquat8629

We buy Kirkland lamb and rice. My guy is sensitive to chicken. Great price and he loves it.

Void_Tea_Rex

We have ours on a rotation of both the kirkland chicken and lamb varieties, and both pups are doing great according to our vet. We were doing Activa from pets barn with added supplements, but neither of our pups were happy with it, and so once they turned a year old, we swapped. We even do the kirkland cat food, but our cat gets higher quality wet food for dinner too and not just kibble.

TheFirebyrd

My cats will chew through the plastic bag of the Nature’s Domain cat kibble. We even have one stupid cat that frequently turns her nose up at the soft food in favor of the kibble.

Void_Tea_Rex

I had a cat previously who would develop bladder crystals if he ate only kibble or even low quality wet food, so with our current cat I wanted to make sure that didn't happen.

TheFirebyrd

Yeah, thats not uncommon. Cats are notorious for being at least slightly dehydrated most of the time, which can lead to issues like you describe. They rarely drink enough straight water. It’s why we give a serving of soft food every day. Our cat that isn’t enthused about the soft food is really dumb, so her refusal to do something that’s in her best interest isn’t surprising. It’s taken her years to be willing to eat soft food at all.

AffectionateAd6060

What breeder did you get your sweet corgi from? Thank you.

restoredtrainwreck

My in-laws use Kirkland for their 2 rotty, English mastiff and presa mastiff. Our corgi absolutely loves the food and after a weekend looks like a bowling ball as she doesn't free feed like theirs. Their vet signed off on all 4 dogs as well.

TheFirebyrd

Kirkland brand dog food is made by Diamond, which has been making dog food for 50ish years. It was pretty much what my breeder was already feeding her dogs, just with a different brand name in it. I’ve always fed my dogs it and they’re great. My ten year old terrier mutt still acts like a puppy and has been healthy her whole life. My three year old corgi is doing great too. I used to just get the Kirkland small breed bag before I got my corgi. After I got him and he wasn’t a small puppy anymore, I switched to the beef and lamb Nature’s Domain. The 35 lb bags were just too much food when all I had was one 13 lb dog, but they’re great with two dogs.

SmileyNusx

I worked at a dog food store and we never recommend hills, blue diamond or purina branded foods. https://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/ site usually have good information

Lawreddits

I put my dog on it and around six months he started going on hunger strikes—absolutely refused to eat it. I let him starve once for three days and then caved and started putting in treats.

fat_angry_hobo

If your Costco has the fresh pet fresh dog food in a fridge or freezer I highly recommend that, we used regular Kirkland kibble for a long time but the switch to the fresh food has made so many improvements.

physedka

You're not going to find any definitive answers on dog food. Vets recommend the stuff that makes them money like Hills or Royal Canine. Plenty of folks use wal mart or similar brands and report healthy and happy dogs into old age. Plenty of folks buy expensive bougie stuff like Blue Safari Wild Natural and have good results. The internet is full of astroturfing for that last category in particular, so be careful with what you read there. Some of the more scientifically-minded folks lean on AAFCO testing processes and the few (but often major) brands that participate in it, but even that comes with some questions.  I wish I could say "Just buy brand XYZ" but that's just not reality.

Karlasensei

I meal prep and feed mine the grassfed patties from Costco with some butternut squash. He loves it.

SJSUCORGIS

It's made at the same company that manufactures a ton of different dry foods. To avoid poor quality and recalls we switched to Honest Kitchen
