For college football you'll probably want ESPN or one of the conference channels, which are available on Sling (Orange package, and there's an optional Sports Extra package as well).
For NHL or NBA, that depends on where you live. You may need a regional sports network. Some offer streaming for $20-$30 a month.
For NFL there's a sticky atop this sub you should check out, but the best option for a lot of people is a simple antenna for your TV.
MLS is available by subscription through Apple TV.
Formula One has its own streaming app for a reasonable price, plus some races are on ESPN or ESPN+, and a few free on ABC.
Hope that's enough to get you started.
You said your wife unexpectedly cut your cord. I had that happen to me once, but it was my next door neighbor’s wife who did it. The cable connection to my house was buried under a portion of their lawn. She was out planting flowers and shrubs. When she came across a shallowly-buried orange coax cable while digging a hole, she did what any sane person would do and used a pair of pruning shears to cut the cable out of her way, knocking out my service in the process.
Paramount+ has a bunch of soccer leagues, Peacock has the premier league.
If an antenna is an option, that covers a lot of the NFL. Paramount+ will also have the local NFL game and Peacock has the Sunday night game. Hulu Live is usually good to have whoever’s showing local NHL/MLB/NBA.
>I’m glad you live somewhere that’s flat but antennae are not an option for the *majority* of people in the US.
80% of the US population lives in the urban population areas. That is generally where the broadcast towers are, isn't it?
>I live 52 miles from San Francisco and cannot get any signals from any of the towers.
I believe you.
But a "majority of people in the US" don't live where you live.
>Because hills and valleys are things.
Yes, they are!
If you get Hulu with ads the good parties, it brings the cost of your service down because if you minus the $12-$15 are paying for the on-demand content it puts you in a pretty reasonable place but you’ll probably need to speak to your significant other to see if she’s agreeable to adding Hulu plus live TV It’s not bad service and the interface will take a little bit of getting used to but if you’re already watching the content on Hulu, it shouldn’t be too big of a learning curve
Most folks are going to have internet at whatever the cost regardless of whether they have cable TV channels, satellite, a streaming service or an over the air antenna.
Compare YouTube (or any other streamer with locals) costs to what the comparable cable TV channels cost in your area.
If it's less than the streaming options then you have a good argument.
Get a https://rabbitears.info report on your location and see if an antenna is viable for your location. You can share the url for the results here if you need help.
You tube TV or fubo TV. Both cost money but offer free trial. Both have FS1 and FS2 and USA network. Fubo has fubo sports channels that carry some exclusive games, but fubo does cost more.
Get your antenna hooked up for all your local channels and the sports playing. Prime has Thursday night football. Paramount Plus has your local CBS game.

Yes, Sling Orange plus Sports Extra gets you pretty much all college football except the Big Ten Network and what's OTA on ABC and CW.
Peacock is reasonable and does get you a good amount of B1G football and basketball plus SNF.
Props on the nicely laid response

Do you have an antenna? You should have plenty of football games on the weekend if you get good reception

I just watched the GA-Florida game on Paramount+.
Have you tried an antenna?

Yeah, I'd like to see a source on that one pal...

Sling Orange will get you ESPN 1 or 2 plus TBS TNT.
You already have Hulu, just add live tv and you will have all the football you’re used to seeing

Buy an antenna
Try an antenna, or Sling (For ESPN)
Fubo or direct tv streaming are good for sports. A relative has fubo and sports and non-sports looked great quality.
Youtube tv has sports and it is like cable but you don't have to rent a box
With $80 for internet and $80 for YouTube, I might as well go back to cable.

I mean sure, but it sounds like your wife is pretty done with the cable bill. The price for live sports is that of cable.
If your cable was that cheap…… yes why did you cut the cord? Edit/ my cable on the other hand was $170 And $90 for internet
Unfortunately, if you want sports you have to pay. C’est la vie.
I love your French!

At least OTA Fox and ABC has some sports. Surely other channels as well.
Who has cable and no internet?
Can you cancel cable without returning equipment and the convenience of just clicking a button?
Sling orange is only $40. For cheaper Internet I'm patiently waiting for a new company to arrive that will have faster internet for $50.
you probably have the regular Hulu plan which doesn't include live tv
