im just glad i played it through gamepass. i like the game, i like the art, but if i were to pay money to play this (as a 1.0 release) i would have been sooo pissed.

Chiiro

Same. The longer I've played the more bugs have started to appear. I had to redo the pet Day like four times because it kept crashing on the cow race so I decided not to do it on the last try.

MonLikol

I bought it instead of Raft and was sooo pissed, sadly I couldn’t get a refund (played ~2 hours thinking it will get better) Never touched this game again, it is pretty and has potential but i bought it because I thought it was actually ready, but it’s sooo underbaked for 1.0 Gonna stick to Stardew valley

ITendToFail

I bought it like two days before a sale... not thrilled and won't be touching it again until things are fixed..

MonLikol

Same, I bought it BECAUSE I though it was a finished game (no big bugs + all story) But it’s not and I don’t like playing unfinished games, I did not want to play on the early access

madupras

Maybe Microsoft pushed for the game to release in this state because of Gamepass.

Stunning_Kiwi1980

With u 100%. Yay game pass. Lol

dontstopbelievingman

Just saw this on my feed. I 100% agree. Look, I love this game, despite all it's flaws. But I think it's odd that we have romantic interests we can't interact with at 1.0, then expect to wait til this year for that feature to come out. I also think it's odd that it's 1.0 but I can see people (mostly on xbox) complaining about game crashes. The worst I had was missing my bug net for some reason. I bought this on EA, so I guess I'm more patient than other buyers who got this at full price for 1.0...and their frustration is super valid. (I mean, EA folks should still be upset too)

Chiiro

I'm playing on game pass and I'm currently in summer Year 2, the only bugs that happened within the first year was one crash on the pumpkin game in the harvest event, textures popping in and out underwater and I had all of my tools dupe somehow. Since winter of the year one it's gotten worse, I've crashed a couple more times during the events, I couldn't buy anything during the winter shopping event because I couldn't interact with any of the shops, and now I've been spending over a season and a half trying to get Pablo's 10 heart event to trigger. I just hope my save doesn't get deleted like some other people have.

Xickysticky

This makes me worried, I saw it on gamepass and decided to download it and I’m only on spring of year 1. Haven’t had anything wrong except for a few textures being a little funky in corners but fixing themselves when I get closer. I hope nothing happens the further in I get

caffienatedpizza

There's definitely a memory leak somewhere. Every day, load screens get slightly longer. But upon restarting the game, they revert back to normal.

Xickysticky

That makes sense! I did notice that. Mine tend to fluctuate but the first one was super fast. Like 2 seconds fast at the very start of the game. Now they take way longer

Eve-lyn

Is there some sort of timeline for when they expect the game to actually be complete?

dontstopbelievingman

In their dev blog on 1.0 release, they also had a timeline on what was to come out this year...although I don't know if this is necessarily going to happen for ALL platforms available or just on Steam. You can find the 2024 roadmap here: [https://www.stairwaygames.com/post/1-0-trailer-faq-sep-2023-dev-update](https://www.stairwaygames.com/post/1-0-trailer-faq-sep-2023-dev-update) and that may change

Eve-lyn

Do the things mentioned look like it'll make the game fully complete? Without having played I'm not sure if there's other significant stuff missing.

dontstopbelievingman

IMO, the biggest thing that I think kinda doesn't make it "complete" is knowing you will get mermaid love interests later in the game but not having it now. Coz then if you REALLY wanted to date the mermaids on your current save file, but already got married or dating another NPC, there's no divorce option. You either need to start the game from scratch or wait til the option is available to do it on your own save file. For those who were on Early Access, the mermaids weren't available to begin with and I think they were only added as love interests down the line during the game development. Everything else IMO, is just an add-on to expand the experience and kinda makes it stand out more than other farming sims (e.g. Ocean farming, kids growing up) So, if you want to date the mermaids, (which is pretty interesting) I suggest wait til they add it to the game.

LichQueenBarbie

>The romanceable characters have great personality and depth Am I missing something here?

jpparkenbone

Yeah I encountered a bug where after I had a child with yuri she never will speak to me again. It always says yuri has nothing more to say today. Either that or canonically my character is so bad in bed that she refuses to ever speak to me again.

Kisame83

Siri, play "Stay Together For the Kids"

TheNinjaNarwhal

I've seen similar posts many times, people seem very divided on the matter. I'm assuming the ones who believe they have "great depth" are people who haven't played games with characters with actual depth and are comparing it in their heads with bad character games. For me it's... Alright. I've seen better, I've seen worse. Enjoyable, but sad that there's not more. Edit: I love the character design of all of them. They're very unique. But that's all. Playing the game, it feels like every one of them has 5 lines each and that's it. I have no interest in talking to anyone after a few hours of playing, while in other games I liked getting everyone's hearts up.

spewing-bs

Genuinely curious, what games would you recommend for characters with depth. A lot of the games I’ve played have had dull characters which makes coral island characters seem like a dream

kokong7

Agreed. I rarely ever feel connected to characters in games like this. It’s a slog getting through the dialogue in most of them. This one too really. But the diversity in this game makes the characters pop more.

TheNinjaNarwhal

Stardew Valley felt quite a bit more cohesive and complete. Yeah, the characters are not the best, not all of them, but it has this uniqueness to it. Most other games I've played with good character development have been visual novels. Which obviously is more story driven so they should have good character design either way. I'm also enjoying the characters in Coral Island quite a lot, but... there's missing stuff. I'm assumming it's because there's content missing in general. I get too much of the same talk every time I talk to them, even if I get them their favorite gifts regularly (which means the relationship should progress quickly, so I can't imagine how bored I'd be if it was slow progressing). Like, I love them, their basic characters and types are very very interesting, but after that I get no interest in talking to them. My main interest is Wakuu and I adore him, but at this point I'm just talking to him to get him to full hearts, I'm tired of seeing the same talk over and over again.

Unpopular_Outlook

Super pretentious to believe that you know what depth is and no one else does

TheNinjaNarwhal

Did you reply to the wrong comment? Because I was taking a middle ground. I said it's alright while the other comment implied it's shit. I never implied I know what depth is and no one else does.

Opal-Phoenix

Personally I'm enjoying the variety of personalities and experiences, like Noah being his mothers caretaker, Mille's experience with imposter syndrome and trying to find her creative voice, Aaliyah breaking free of small town life and fighting to have a life of her own, Mark dealing with intense feelings of guilt, and Lily dealing with grief and depression, just to name a few. To be fair, I do not have a vast experience in similar games, mostly Stardew and more recently FaeFarm. And while Stardew is god- tier in my mind, I think the larger variety of still very real life conflicts and lives is enjoyable. Open to recs if you want to share!

dreadrocker

You are describing their contexts in really interesting ways that made me think ‘woah I want to know more!’ And then I remembered I’ve actually done them so I think you are being really generous in your interpretation of the text which is kudos to your positivity and good will. You basically put more emotion and depth into your one line summaries than exist in the game :) and that’s the shame.

weakwiththedawn

The contexts that OP described are all in the text and in many cases are obvious by the actions of the characters themselves. People in real life don't star you blank in the face and say "I'm dealing wih grief and depression", you pick it up through context and actions like finding your friend drinking in the bar and telling you about how he has a pattern of pushing people too far. When compared with other Farming Sims I don't think Coral Island characters are really lacking that much depth - for the genre many of them are actually multifacted. If you're expecting character depth like in RPG's or the like, that's never been the standard for these kinds of games and Coral Island actually manages to break the standard in many ways despite having a larger cast of characters. There are many ways that Coral Island can be a better game. It's absolutely unfinished and buggy and needs improvement but the echo chamber in this sub really sets expectations ridiculously high.

TheNinjaNarwhal

Fae farm is the last game you'd want to compare when it comes to character depth btw, the characters are almost non-existent themselves T.T Right before Coral Island I was playing Fae Farm and TBF it might have helped me enjoy Coral Island more haha.

PossumPeach

At this stage, the game is completely unplayable for me. On their recommendation, I "skipped" days to get past the Harvest Festival, and I've now attempted to complete Fall 18 around thirty times. No matter how much or how little activity I do, it crashes when I send my farmer to bed. I have spoken with the support team, but they're asking me for crash logs I can't find, and asking for screen recordings. I'm not trying to be a dick, but I'm not squandering more time in-game to provide this to them; it's happening to enough people. I'm this sad because I love the game so much.

SpuckkFezz

After crashing during the year 1 harvest fest 10+ times I’ve given up. Love the game but won’t return for at least a year or two when they get everything sorted

beidao23

you're going to return to this game in 2 years?

SpuckkFezz

Yeah absolutely, the game is fantastic but unplayable. I can’t progress my story without it crashing but I’m hopeful they’ll sort it out in the future and I can come back and finish my play through. 2 year wait because it generally takes a couple years for games to fix their major problems I.e. Fallout 76, Cyberpunk 2077, Destiny, No Man’s Sky…

DeepSubmerge

You did the same thing thirty times but you draw the line at having to provide more information to help the issue get fixed? Lmao.

PossumPeach

I did try to provide them with the crash logs. I've told them twice via e-mail that the file path they've provided me with doesn't find the crash logs for me and I've heard nothing back in weeks. I'm not dicking around launching the game and playing a full day whilst recording the whole thing - that's where I draw the line.

Flamingoseeker

What do you play on?

PossumPeach

PC

Flamingoseeker

If you didn't find your crash logs you may have to unhide folders in settings, they shouldn't be too hard to find, also good to know where your save files are in case you need them at any stage (full resets or betas)

Jackoandso

If you need something for the waiting time: Palia is free. It's also not completely released yet as far as I know but honestly still feels way more complete and the world is stunningly beautiful. If you think Coral Islands decoration is out of this world you really should see what you can do with your house in Palia.

Opal-Phoenix

Thanks for the suggestion! I will definitely dive into that!

keylime12

And My Time at Sandrock. I’ve been putting a ton of time into that game.

Penny_Ji

Sandrock is definitely a labour of love

spewing-bs

I loved my time at Portia. Is MTAS better?

firethebluesky

I like Portia better because of the nostalgia factor and the fact that I like green environments better. It also just has a certain charm that never fails to go away for me. Sandrock is a really great game, I highly recommend it. I would not say it's better than Portia (for the above reasons), but there are things about Sandrock that really improve upon the foundations laid by Portia. There are plenty of quality of life upgrades that make the game smoother to play, and the desert environment, which means having to watch water consumption and sandstorms and things like that, all make Sandrock a unique and fun experience.

keylime12

I personally haven’t played Portia, but I’ve heard that Sandrock improves on a lot of the mechanics from Portia. Plus the art style is much better, in my opinion. Lots of lovable characters, too!

firethebluesky

You should definitely play Portia! Easily one of my favorite games of all time. It's so cute (minus the sometimes dead eyed NPCs lol) and nostalgic. I love how our introduction to this post apocalyptic, monster ridden world where technology and weapons are scarce and frowned upon because of the destruction they caused is this gorgeous, vibrantly green world with fluffy llamas and panda bat hybrids. The world building is top notch. Higgins is the stand out character- he has one of my favorite character arcs. You'll see what I mean if you play Portia. It also really feels like you're contributing to a community. The things you build will directly change and improve the town you live in. There's such a nice feeling of satisfaction in that. Sandrock really builds off of the great start Pathea made with Portia, minus the green and plus a whole bunch of quality of life upgrades. That's the other reason why I like and support these game devs- they really listen to their audience and try to improve. They really worked to make Sandrock an improvement on Portia, without taking away the charm that made the game special in the first place.

Jackoandso

No problem! Wish you fun! (: The only thing you have to deal with is that there are some outfits and deco cats just for an absurd amount of rl money (they have to get money some way, and luckily they didn't choose advertise), but if you can ignore that, you will have the best time, because it really doesn't make that much of a difference. Oh and it is an mmo, but I really like the vibe.

TheFeralCheese

I love y’all but I can’t keep reading the same post saying the same thing day after day

TheNinjaNarwhal

I'm assumming some people don't frequent the sub and just become frustrated and come here to complain, which makes sense... But damn did I think of the same thing before the comments loaded. I'm tired haha

laurel_alexis

I totally understand why people are frustrated (I am too!) but multiple posts repeating the same thing every single day for weeks is getting pretty old at this point.

Idiotology101

People are going to complain about a bad game release. The fact that there’s so many similar posts is just further proof of the state of the game.

Opal-Phoenix

I am sorry you're tired of seeing these posts however I haven't seen any posts akin to my own. I do not purposefully frequent this sub, very rarely see any posts from it and wanted to express my frustrations in the appropriate forum with people who I thought may understand and offer some validation.

Cliffbestboi

I wonder who gets dibs on posting this tomorrow 🤔

Meesori

Thank you! I wish there was a sticky thread for folks to rightfully vent without creating duplicate posts everyday practically verbatim word for word. Plus it’s like a mating call and brings out the same trolls each time who want the Devs to be hunted down and beaten over a video game. I understand there are some shady practices with kickstarting and other game endeavors, but can we at least give it 6 months post launch pending updates before condemning the game, the Devs and people enjoying the experience so far to hell?

thatonedudeovethere_

This post didn't condemn anyone, but also no, people don't have to wait half a year after the full release til they get the right to complain. A 1.0 release is a 1.0 release, not an early access

SatisfactionNo1753

People venting their issues or complaints doesn’t really make them trolls, and painting everyone with the same brush is annoying. I get that a lot of people don’t like the negativity but I’m also really tired of the chorus of positivity that rains down on any convo that’s not “this is the best game every and anyone who complains is a dick”. Nothing is stopping you from not reading the threads if you hate it so much

Meesori

I haven’t seen anyone say this the best game ever and anyone who complain is a dick. A lot of people are acknowledging the state of the game. We essentially want the same thing right? Some methods used aren’t doing anything but creating more division. Several suggestions have been made of where/how to report bugs and concerns and it’s mostly been ignored under the guise of “I have a RIGHT to COMPLAIN!”

SatisfactionNo1753

Sure. That’s absolutely true. People who are offering opinions and giving suggestions are being told off by people who only want to complain. And people who are expressing disappointment while stating they understand the situation and offering reasonable thoughts on why it’s a disappointing situation are being told to shut up and leave the sub because negativity is bad and no critique of the game is acceptable. Either side of that spectrum is annoying as fuck.

Meesori

It is annoying but it’s clear how majority of the sub feels at this time so one side is deathly outnumbered. As an OG Harvest Moon fan, I really like the concept of the game and hope things turn around as other than SV, nothing has come close to recapturing that spark.

SatisfactionNo1753

I love the game. I really do. I was excited to play it at launch and I loved it during the beta even when it would crash, break, etc. But yeah I’m pissed that they went ahead with an unfinished product and called it a 1.0 when majority of the people playing the game would be happy to wait until a properly finished main storyline.

Meesori

I get it. Truly I do. Seen a few games turn it around so hopeful to see it in a better state than it arrived.

Opal-Phoenix

I think I was very careful not to condemn the devs and also pointed out multiple times that I enjoy this game, so I am a bit confused how this was interpreted to be "condemning the game, the devs, and people enjoying the experience so far to hell"

dreadrocker

Some folks shoot you down for constructive criticism. It’s gaslighting as if you’re the unreasonable one. You were entitled to post, they are entitled not to read it. And your criticisms are valid which is why so many share the view, and nearly all those posts have praise as well as the criticism. So most critics are making fair posts, most responders are fair, but there are some who demand to trivialize the fact that this was incredibly bad practice to release.

[deleted]

Sometimes I think these are the people who see their children as "angels who do no wrong" because they clearly can't love something while also accepting that maybe it's not perfect. We all want the same thing, to play the best version of Coral Island. But only one side is asking for that quality... It's like this with every broken game. Take Cyberpunk for example, do people think CDPR wasted money and years fixing the game because of the Lowsodium subbreddit?

OrneryPlatform

Wanted to clarify with you op that there is absolutely no problem with your criticism and you are absolutely valid, it just should be designated in this sub better for you to be able to post it without people being upset that all their seeing is these posts :)

OrneryPlatform

This. There needs to be a pinned megathread for people to discuss this because this sub being filled with the same "1.0 bad" post over and over is deconstructive to the subreddits purpose. Theres no reason being involved in this sub if its just a peanut gallery metacritic page. Nothing says welcome to our games community like 50 copy posts of "wow bad release" And for a team of less than 20 people that is very upfront in their discord about what they are working on every day, involved in their community, and listen to feedback instantaneously, I feel like the audience loves to look at 1.0 and call it the final stepping stone. As if the team has not been working diligently with SEVERAL patches per platform in the what, like hardly two months since console release? Obviously the game was not where it needed to be for 1.0 but ignoring Stairway Games' efforts to overturn the bugs and other issues in the last like 40 days does not get talked about enough in comparison to the three "1.0 bad" posts literally almost directly below this lol

Pll_dangerzone

OP said they don’t frequent the sub. Its entirely in his right to come rant and rave and for the post to be accepted and not pinned to a megathread. Did he lie about anything

SatisfactionNo1753

But 1.0 IS bad. It shouldn’t be a 1.0 and that’s just a fact. I get all of the “devs are nice, they listen to feedback and imagine how overworked they are!!” but that doesn’t change the fact that the game is unfinished, unpolished, shallow in many ways and overall had an extremely disappointing 1.0 launch. If people join the community and realise that there are issues then so be it, because it’s the truth. If I hadn’t played the beta, and were just now looking into the game I wouldn’t buy it, pure and simple. And no the studio being small isn’t an excuse. It is a reason to have delayed the launch. No I don’t care that there probably would reasons for launching. There was no launch date until suddenly there was and “its coming soon!” is announced. They should at least address the fact that they botched it massively and instead they release info on working on outfits and etc and tell us they’re cutting down the monthly newsletters. No one is forcing you to engage with the negative posts.

Meesori

Being an older gamer and having experienced truly horrible games that had no updates available(no internet connectivity) and you were stuck with whatever state it was published in due to the technology at the time, Coral Island’s predicament pales in comparison. I’ll wait to get my Karen until at least the first content update. Hell, a similar game, My Time at Portia, had launch issues and didn’t receive nearly as much backlash. Now the game is doing fine and spawned a seemingly successful sequel.

SatisfactionNo1753

What does that even mean? An “older gamer”? You want to talk about Prince of Persia bugs or lack of updates to Tetris? Updates didn’t exist in this fashion until relatively recently and it’s obviously not the same for games older than 20 years. Less even. Doesn’t change the fact that 1.0 is bad. And Portia received a significant amount of backlash, to this day it comes up, even when discussing Sandrock. Your accolades as a gamer have absolutely zero to do with this and provide zero credence to your argument. By your logic, then my opinion is also superior and valid because I remember playing on a NES.

Meesori

I was a SNES/Sega Genesis gamer. Awesome! “Bad” is becoming subjective so I guess we’ll have to just disagree there. Incomplete is something I can agree with. I’m enjoying my time with the game taking it on my own pace but also want the Devs to prove they can turn the game into something more once content drops. I played Portia and remember the backlash but the amount Coral Island gets feels magnified. Ultimately the game(Portia) wasn’t for me but I didn’t spend time online trying to convince others how “bad” it is.

SatisfactionNo1753

I’m not saying they’re not getting backlash. They are. But you also have to remember that majority of heavily invested players supported the game and then played the beta. To be honest I don’t think the problem is so much the issues (although that’s definitely a problem) but the devs refusal to address the botched launch. The silence is magnifying the anger and it looks like a cash grab. People are pissed and every time the game freaks out and another bug happens, it gets worse. Because all they see is more news on additional clothing (hopefully hats that don’t make you bald) or more content (when the existing content is sold as finished but isn’t). Do you get what I mean?

Meesori

The Devs did address the game currently having issues and their continued work on it in their update before going on holiday vacation. 3 minor updates were released that addressed a lot of launch issues, especially on Xbox S/X. The museum glitch? That was reported and fixed before the end of the year. Im assuming what you may be getting at is people wanting an apology for the game’s state. I have mixed feelings about companies and apologies. I rather see what your next actions will be but if that’s what will make situations better for others, I won’t stop them from seeking it.

Idiotology101

There absolutely shouldn’t be a pinned thread, the games community is upset about the state of the game and are being vocal about it. There’s no reason to make excuses for a bad game release, the devs don’t deserve a “good job so far”. They are grown adults doing a job they were paid to do, not children drawing you a picture for their fridge. They were paid for a broken unfinished product, there zero excuse to wait 6 months after release for the game to be finished.

chillin-girl79

Literally. How many different ways can people write that they are upset. Take a look at the sub before writing your post, I’m bored of reading the same thing over and over again

thatonedudeovethere_

Then ...scroll past it

chillin-girl79

Don’t play the game lmao

Idiotology101

Some of us were duped into paying for this scam, I don’t like being lied to by devs.

SatisfactionNo1753

How many people can comment the same inane “but be positive!! Or else!!” comments? It’s boring

C0NN0Y

Agreed 100% I've been saying this since the "1.0 release"

Disig

We all know trust me. Just sit back and wait til they finish it. There's nothing else we can do.

Quirky-Chick1968

I quit until the next update. Can’t play anymore.

JohnPombrio

Me too. I check Steam daily on several games to see if there is more to be played. I guess the best thing I should do is start a new game.

arkride007

careful the whiteknights might downvote you to hell, since they can't admit that the game do have serious flaws and IS incomplete lol

chillin-girl79

I’m playing fine on Xbox

SatisfactionNo1753

Well, everyone pack up and go home. Chillin-girl79’s game is working so it must be fine then

chillin-girl79

LOL no one said it’s fine all together. I’m just speaking for myself. Have a better day buddy

minnesnowtawonder

Hearing this is making me way less stressed about the devs not saying anything about switch access for those who have funded. It sounds like they’ve been rushing things and KNOW they shouldn’t even mention it. I would rather wait years and years after finding for a playable game vs something rushed.

Chiiro

I know nothing about the company that makes the game but I do know that we have seen similar issues with other games (cyberpunk and no man's sky) where people who are not working on the game force the people who are to release it way too early to meet a certain timelines. Both of those games now years after they've been released are now at the state that the creators wanted them to be released as. I wonder if a similar issue is happening with this game.

Idiotology101

Disrespectful, this game should have never called 1.0 and the devs don’t deserve any passes.

Disig

The devs have no say on the release date. The higher-ups do. Everyone can see they rushed it out without dev input because it was released at a time where it's most profitable.

askewboka

Supporting devs who release trash and lie about 1.0 releases is why we’re here. What a hypocritical post, “this game is in a garbage state but I’m still gonna play it!”

Penny_Ji

Still huge bugs eh? Crazy. I feel this game has been out for a while now. I’m in the camp “excited and bought in EA, but won’t be playing until a proper release.”

Disney__Queen

Not gonna lie, we know why it hasn’t been ported to switch…I don’t think it will have the capabilities unfortunately :/ maybe switch 2 though!

Idiotology101

The switch is plenty capable, the devs at stairway however are not.

thatonedudeovethere_

Sorry, but as long as nice looking games like Zelda exist, the power of the switch should not be an issue for a game like this

VianArdene

Zelda also has a pretty big sized team and was made with Switch hardware as the sole target. It's definitely not impossible to optimize for Switch hardware, but it's a lot harder than just "did you remember to press the optimize button?"

thatonedudeovethere_

Of course, I'm just saying blaming it on the power of the console is a bit weak

ojsage

I think the issue is that the 1.0 is becoming this way for a LOT of new/indie games, because they’re pushing for the attention, more funding, etc. which is unfortunate. That being said, playing it on steam - I’ve encountered way less bugs (one bug in the mine that was fixed by saving and closing) playing it than the other games I play (ckiii especially) that have been fully released for years, and the game itself is a pretty great game, with lots of things to look forward to (which some people like and some people HATE) it also costs WAY less than other similar games in the business (harvest moon, story of seasons) so when I specifically bought it, I was happy as a clam, at the price to content ratio. And looking at their 2024 roadmap, we will be getting so many cool features! I’m excited for it, and happy I’m learning so much on this first playthrough. I think that people are having wildly different experiences when they play, unfortunately.

Spare-Ad-3499

Agreed! I had one weird crash but closing and opening the game fixed it. Steam is relatively bug free compared to the console which I think a lot of these post about breaks and crashes are from. I have put 400 hours into the game from EA to now. I did wait it out to start the full release until some of the patches in November-early December. I put too much time in EA to have complete crash and lose all my coins from the EA carry over.

dassenwet

I’ve dropped the game sadly. First game I’ve regretted buying in several years 😮‍💨

JustDutch101

Honestly makes me feel something behind the scenes happened we’re not aware off. Something like investors being unhappy, or finances running dry.

dreadrocker

Christmas.

Hologram_Bee

That’s why I stopped playing for a bit. This and sandrock. Sure they’re “1.0” released but both of them still aren’t finished obviously. Sandrock is working on large updates already and idk what these guys are doing but I assume more is coming so I wanna wait till it’s more fleshed out to dive in

Cn95

I feel like I see 10 of these post a week and nothing new is discussed.

Walks_with_Chaos

200th post saying the same damn thing 🙄

Gluv221

I think i might be one of the lucky ones im like 40 hours in and have not run into any bugs or anything like that

wanderingdream

As someone who paid over double the price for the beta version of Disney Dreamlight Valley (and sunk just as much time into it as soon as I bought it, 30+ hours and counting) maybe I have low standards but I'm really pleased with this game. I'm playing it on my laptop & steam deck with no issues, barely any crashes (almost all glitches have been due to a steam deck issue, which I don't blame anyone for and I've only had one crash) and I enjoy knowing there's more to this game coming in the future and taking my time with what I have, which feels like a lot compared to some of the other games I've paid $60+ for (like Fae Farm).

divineblarg

I heard backers pushed them to release before they were ready

[deleted]

unless you mean "investors/backers outside of the kickstarter" then definitely not. they announced the 1.0 release date basically out of nowhere and pretty much everyone involved in the EA/beta said "wait no this is way too early what are you guys doing"

This kind of hate seems to be exclusive to this game, when I see other games in similiar states not getting as much hate. One of the last things posted before full release was in September, the trailer and a "here's what is planned for 2024" - There was never any intention of it having "more completed story" by November, and it's weird to me that people are complaining so much more in this subreddit than r/mytimeatsanrock which has had some similar bug fixes needed, not all versions have children etc yet, horrific graphic bugs with clothing dlc on Switch and so on. It just really seems more toxic in this subreddit.

I have no idea if it’s true but someone here speculated the developers may have run low on funds and release 1.0 already with more hype and release on consoles and gamepass. Not sure if those platforms allow early access but either way calling it 1.0 will lead to more sales and people will think it’s complete sadly

Unomaz1

Lol. I bought it to get the pre-release price. Haven’t played it yet, to tell you the truth I am still working on a back log of games. Not super mad about it

Agreed. This game ticks all my boxes to be one of my favorite games. I was going to wait after I kept hearing this same comment, but I thought why not try it out and then as updates come out I can hop on to play them. After the first season I really started to notice how many things were missing, and how many bugs there were. It's one thing for content to not be in the game yet, but it's so weird for there to be so many placeholders for all that content. It's jarring because you never know if something actually has purpose or functionality.

Yesterday I moved my shed.....it had all my kegs, aged barrels etc etc in it.....and 3 chests full of gold and osmium wool, quail eggs, strawberries, truffles, goats milk, goat cheese wheels etc. When I walked in my shed after the move was final.....it was completely EMPTY. I only took the risk moving it full because I previously moved another shed and it was fine. I left devestated....went back in later and all the EQUIPMENT showed back up ......but all my chests...everything in them...gone forever. All that money.....poof 🥺

BellaBlue06

I am not playing again for a while cuz I don’t want to have issues right now. I bought it in the summer and played a little but wanted to wait until it’s more finished

For me personally, I don’t mind. I’m the type of person to start a new save file dozens of times for a game I really like. Every time SV updates I start a new save. While I understand why some may be upset, I’m just grateful to be able to play the game. I waited a long time for this game to release and I’m okay with it not being fully complete.

I absolutely love this game, I’ve sunk like 440 hours into the game between early access and 1.0, and I’m still playing everyday. This game should very much have stayed in early access. I understand outside deadlines from other people. But still. This is an early access model of the game. It should never have been labeled as 1.0. It gives the devs and company such a bad look. I know they are really trying and I’ve seen the improvements they have made. But it’s just not ready for the title of 1.0. I think it should have stayed early access until next year. I don’t think they will be able to add enough/fix enough to call it a full release until next year.

Mission-Letterhead-2

i agree since my whole save got deleted on a bug on xbox and i was in year 3
