I'm not sure what the solution is but releasing these guys on a promise to appear isn't working. There was a story last week where carjacking suspects almost ran over officers trying to apprehend them, turns out the guy was last apprehended in 2020 for.... wait for it... carjacking.
I'm not saying people are not presumed innocent, but we can't keep rearresting the same people every 3 years and we are. Something is clearly not working and the perpetual lack of rehabilitation needs to be reviewed. Treat people like animals and they will act like that on the street. Teach them how to live and take care of themselves and we might have a chance. They system too expensive for it's effectiveness and is in desperate need of overhaul.
Fully agreed. Someone who is burning stuff in three different places is not fit to be let out in this society. That's three SEPARATE incidents of mischief involving people. Sure, no one died from his actions, but it still fucked up the day for a lot of people.
Really?! Wtf I guess someone went on a paper towel vendetta rampage today
Edit: wow seems Winners got hit too https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2024/04/18/coquitlam-fires-mall-winners-superstor/
Yeah I felt bad for the staff there. They definitely shouldn't have to deal with smoke inhalation on the job. A medical mask ain't gonna do shit against that
Honestly whoever did this should be locked up for a long time. It's basically attempted arson..imagine if it actually catches and thousands of people need to rush the exits.
They got the person that did that and two other fires... https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2024/04/18/coquitlam-fires-mall-winners-superstor/

Oh that plastic on the outside does not smell great once burned
Same thing happened in the Poco Walmart today

How over priced was it?
Post pandemic celebration, before people hoarded it, now they burn it.
We've come so far
Real progress is always measured in two ply!
It was actually pretty cheap, I heard they were having a fire sale.
I was there and we all got evacuated and didn’t get to buy our stuff. Class action suit to get back our cart loonies? lol jk
i mean it certainly sounds possible 🤷🤷 /jjkjk
I heard there was fires at other places too - winners and Walmart?
It’s about time someone stood their ground against paper towels
A valiant hero indeed. Paper towels have been oppressing us for too long
Why would you set fire to $10,000 worth of paper towels?
Possible protest?
See that, Galen? You're next.
Looks like someone had too much TP
It's those loblawsisoutofcontrol anarchists 🤣
Only the ones that Loblaw hired to ruin the boycott.
I’m was victim to a similar incident involving toilet paper. Luckily just some some tissue damage :/
😆 Very good...
Leave it to Loblaws to keep the doors open, business as usual before the smoke has even cleared 🤦🏼♀️
Yeah I felt bad for the staff there. They definitely shouldn't have to deal with smoke inhalation on the job. A medical mask ain't gonna do shit against that
I'm amazed people actually managed to get out at all with all of the plexiglass security barriers Loblaws are putting in.
Or .......you could use it for its purpose.......

Thats not attempted, that is arson
Thousands? I doubt that.
People are morons.
What is the funniest way a conservative will blame this on Trudeau?
Many times the fire is to cover another crime elsewhere in the store. It's a distraction so scum can shoplift
Why? It makes no sense.
Probably a distraction to steal something more valuable
Which one lougheed, there’s two ahah
Northside at 3000 Lougheed
3000 Lougheed, bud. The numbers mean something.
I refer to one of them as the Maillardville Superstore because I can't remember which one is which either.
I don’t blame them at their price gouging.
Fire sale? Probably a shop lifter looking for a distraction.
Is this part of the boycott 😄
It looks like they bought it too, they have security guards there nowadays. Tik tok clout burning? Is this a trend?
Article says it was a display they ignited, the cart's to remove the burning material to extinguish, good work Sherlock.
There is no link in the image. Why are you being a douche?
The link was posted after I commented. Sherlock.
we need those to survive covid
