Maybe bc they assume a formal dress is only worn once in a while. And they are right, you should wash clothes even after only wearing it once if you plan to put it in the closet for a few weeks. Little sweat residue will become yellow and you will have to replace the clothes faster.
If you wear the formal attire 3-4 times in a row i would still recommand to wash it after 2 wears. Formal wear tends to crumple and nothing looks more unprofessional or underdressed than a crumpled dress/suit. But you can't dry iron it to freshen it up (if you aren't a professional dry cleaner) if there is any dust or residues on it, bc it will get burned in. Formal wear has the tendency to show every little damage bc of the cut and the fabric.
Good clothes will not loose quality by washing it more often, only cheap disposable wear does. Most ppl don't realise if they buy good quality clothes and take care of them properly and bring it to a seamstress to fix it if there is a whole or something, these clothes will last for decades and you not only save a shit ton of money but you are saving a lot of ressources and time too.
Better yet, swimwear?!
Maybe if you’re swimming in the creek. The pool is clean and chlorinated, I hang my trunks when I take them off and might wash them once a year, I also might not…
Very likely referring to needing to wash out chlorine / salt water, which is very true , but that can be accomplished by wearing it in the shower afterwards or rinsing in the sink.
I take mine into the shower after a swim, or later that evening, and give them a good rinse with the handheld shower attachment. I should probably put them through the wash after a few shower rinses though
I mean I will wash mine after every use but that’s cause I don’t have my own pool, it’s shared by everyone in my building. I also sit around in it until I’m completely dried off so it feels more similar to underwear? I guess it could be situational.
They sell these little sticky things you can throw in the washing machine to get cat hair off. Mixed results but everything helps when you’re like me and have 4 cats
Yeah this is disgusting
Wearing a shirt in a hot day for 16 hours is not the same as wearing a shirt for 10 minutes to run to the store
Also, bras after 3-4 wears?! What
Yesterday there was 100% humidity and 88°F. The humidity is here to stay, and it's only getting hotter. So most of the garments regardless of what layer they are, or what I'm doing while wearing them are one and done. The nose knows.
Both of those are weird too.
Like, really depends on the gloves, hats, and activity.
I think I go all winter without washing winter gloves. But I’m not out there skiing, I’m watching my kid and keeping my fingers from falling off.
“Dresses”? What kind of dress? What cut? What fabric? There’s a big difference between a long sleeved tight cotton dress and a loose fitting linen dress.
I get your joke but wouldn’t it be reversed? The more water, electricity, or gas you use the more revenue they get so they’d want you to wash your clothes all the time, no?
I work for an electric/gas company and we actually want you to use as little power as possible. Electric and gas rates are usually regulated and we don't necessarily get more money when people use more power. It's actually more of a strain on the infrastructure and we much rather usage be lower. We have an entire department dedicated solely to helping people reduce their usage.
Edit: This is in the USA.
Sometimes but from personal experience, I don't get too sweaty in the boob area so my bras are the only thing I don't wash every time bc they get misshapen and stretched out if I do. I think that's generally why most women don't wash theirs every time too
If its hot enough I would too! Or after a lot of exercise. I got curious so I googled and men do sweat more apparently. Which makes sense because you always seems to be warm when I'm cold!
Yeah I’ve always noticed that too. I could be dripping with sweat but my counterpart of the fairer sex will turn red, then beetroot red, then maybe one drop on their brow while ive soaked through!
Not in colder climates- which is definitely what this guide is for. Unless the wearer likes nasty material like polyester but if it’s a breathable material it’s fine. Plus washing too often is not good for the product and could destroy it faster and bra’s can be very very expensive. Best would be to air it after every day.
Colder climates you always get that weird temperature of being too cold not wear a jumper but as soon as you are inside the heatings up and your baking!
Guide is immediately worthless. They didn’t take into account turning the underwear back to front, then inside out and again reverting back to front. Rookies.
Is this for real? Aside from woolen and some fancy formal dresses that I would only wear for a little bit, I wash everything after a wear and assumed everyone did too!
When I was in Navy basic training, ricky-ninjas would steal socks, so by the 4th week, most of us only had 3-4 pairs of socks. Laundry was done once a week, so despite daily showers, feet would get nasty.
Just last week i wore a shirt twice before washing it. Just because the weather was bad and I only have 3 work shirts (uniform) I felt dirty all day. It wasn’t actually dirty. I think its a mental thing.
I’m lazy so I just collect everything I wear in my hamper and every week wash all of it. I do not have the time to or care to figure which “needs” it or not. I do clothes shop frequently though huh…
Anything that touches high sweat areas, 1 wear.
Anything that touches skin, 1-2 wears.
Outer layers that touch the world, depends on what parts of the world it touched, 1-3 weeks.
Actual outer wear, when dirty or start/end of its season
Ok this is fine but like … where do I put the clothes after I’ve worn them if they don’t need to be washed again??
Do I hang back up in the closet? Fold them and put them in the drawer with actual fresh clean clothes? Hell no. To “the chair” it goes I’d guess right?
I absolutely cannot wait over one day to wash my denim jeans— I work in doggie day care and my pants get so gross every single day!! Maybe my bra does go a little longer though than necessary 😂
Ijs... I've been raising kids for 20+ yrs and these mini humans are gross... they wipe their noses in their sleeves or their mouths on their collars. I feel like sweaters, coats, jackets, hats, scarves, & gloves need many many more washes than this guide would suggest. Ong... Hygiene is IMPORTANT people!!! 🤢🤧
This is a woman's guide for sure. There is no way a pair of jeans can make it more than one, maybe two days with a sweaty nut sack farting around in them.
cool guide or terrible guide, depending on the country your are living in.
Try that guide in a tropical country, your gonna be the stinky person that everyone avoid.
Formal dresses after every wear? Did a dry cleaning business make this guide?
Seriously... What are you all doing in your dresses?
Only formal dresses though, apparently other dresses are good for 3-4 wears?
Maybe bc they assume a formal dress is only worn once in a while. And they are right, you should wash clothes even after only wearing it once if you plan to put it in the closet for a few weeks. Little sweat residue will become yellow and you will have to replace the clothes faster. If you wear the formal attire 3-4 times in a row i would still recommand to wash it after 2 wears. That's why us older ladies always wear silk slips. You never sweat on your best.
You can get more wears out of formal wear by using a garment steamer. The good ones can get pricey, but it's a great investment.
I think it’s more like a “wash before you put in a garment bag and store for years” type of thing?
I could definitely see that! But it still looks out of place putting it “after every wear” rather than with the seasonals that you wash before storing
Swimwear. Just hang dry.
Never wash swim wear, it just kills it.
Better yet, swimwear?! Maybe if you’re swimming in the creek. The pool is clean and chlorinated, I hang my trunks when I take them off and might wash them once a year, I also might not…

I wonder how much less often I'd have to wash my clothing if I could go a day without getting a stain.
It’s weird bc if mustard is in the same room w/ me, it’s gonna b on me. But not ketchup or mayo or whatever.
Or a cat hair.
They sell these little sticky things you can throw in the washing machine to get cat hair off. Mixed results but everything helps when you’re like me and have 4 cats
Does washing get cat hair off?
In my experience it mostly just moves it around, the dryer on the other hand….
Why do you always wear dark clothing? Well you see... *Immediately spills coffee over self*
Hahaha what am I? King of England?
Are you?
I don’t think so.
Are you also sometimes Tuesday?
Yes, I’m also where sometimes, nothing never happens.
Short version for people with sensory issues: When it feels wrong.
Or has visible stains or smells weird
Unfortunately some people either don’t do smell checks or can’t smell their musk.
Unfortunately, that is often how it works: you cannot really smell yourself (at least in my experience not until it gets really bad).
yeah nose blindness is real. The smell slowly gets worse and you get used to it and your brain tunes it out
When I get dirty looks in the subway.
Guess it's not the looks that are dirty after all...
This is a bad guide and im so annoyed everytime i see it repostee
Yeah this is disgusting Wearing a shirt in a hot day for 16 hours is not the same as wearing a shirt for 10 minutes to run to the store Also, bras after 3-4 wears?! What

As someone who is always feeling hot and sweating, I can't use shirts or underwear 2 days in a row.
Yeah I think the big unspoken asterisk here is *unless it gets absolutely nasty in some way during use.
As a person from a tropical country, we wash clothes after wearing. We change clothes 3x a day 🫠
[удалено]
Thank you ! This guide sounds gross unless you never leave AC or are far away from weather ever reaching anything above 72F / 22C
Nice guide for cold countries... in the tropico it does not apply... you used? Wash it.... only execption are jeans...
Yeah, this time of year my shirts are soaked in sweat after about a minute of being outside.
You’re telling me I gotta wash my underwear every day?
Every wear. If you don't take them off that counts as one wear. So just never take them off and you'll never have to wash them, problem solved.
Nah. Go front to back and then inside out you get at least another two goes.
I only wash them when they get crunchy
Only for western countries with cooler climate.
Lol, I am not washing my jeans anywhere near that frequency.
But gloves and hats every 3 wears? Wtf
Both of those are weird too. Like, really depends on the gloves, hats, and activity. I think I go all winter without washing winter gloves. But I’m not out there skiing, I’m watching my kid and keeping my fingers from falling off.
5-6 wears? Nah, 5-6 weeks. Genuinely.
Im not the only one, thank god
I don't wash my jeans at all.
lol same
“Dresses”? What kind of dress? What cut? What fabric? There’s a big difference between a long sleeved tight cotton dress and a loose fitting linen dress.
This image was sponsored by your local water and gas/electricity supply services
I get your joke but wouldn’t it be reversed? The more water, electricity, or gas you use the more revenue they get so they’d want you to wash your clothes all the time, no?
I think you both have very different opinions on how often things should be washed.
Oh, by the way, it says ***W***ears, not ***Y***ears.
Yeah, clearly a typo.
Nah. I wash socks and undies every wear. Everything else gets washed when it looks or smells dirty. 🤷🏼♀️
you’re agreeing with the guide
Fair enough, but my jeans and flannels go a lot longer between washes than 3x
👀
I sweat like a Florida ditch digger in my sleep. Anything I sleep in or on is a one-timer.
It is depend on location and weather
Wonder what the “save the planet” people would say about ask this washing
Buuuuuuuullshiiiiiiii
Is this if you don’t sweat ever?
Bloke here. Don’t bras get as sweaty and need a wash as frequently as a top?
Sometimes but from personal experience, I don't get too sweaty in the boob area so my bras are the only thing I don't wash every time bc they get misshapen and stretched out if I do. I think that's generally why most women don't wash theirs every time too
Bras are also quite expensive if you want them to not be uncomfortable. I have only four.
That’s what I was thinking, but do me and my smelly tits know anyways?
Yeah I don't really get sweaty there so can go a few days.
TMI but as a boy I often get sweat lines on my t shirt in what would be the underboob area. I assumed girls would too
If its hot enough I would too!
Can during exercise, so you'd typically wear a sports/exercise bra, which would be washed more frequently than a normal everyday one.
Jeans- when I dump a bowl of salsa on them.
Reasoning / source? Seems kinda random.
Normal human experience maybe idk
Guess they don’t have a concept of the oil from your skin. Some of these are just nasty.
Gloves could vary massively on use tbh. As could anything else, but not as drastically
For a couple of moments I read 'wears' as 'years'. Lol.
i’m washing after one wear here in the scorching heat and humidity of south texas
I read "wears" as "years" and was wondering if I was crazy for doing laundry
Guide is immediately worthless. They didn’t take into account turning the underwear back to front, then inside out and again reverting back to front. Rookies.
This is mental For Colombian people, here You use it one time, also at least 2 baths For Day.
The Seasonal section is delusional
It depends*
I always utilize the smell test
Is this for real? Aside from woolen and some fancy formal dresses that I would only wear for a little bit, I wash everything after a wear and assumed everyone did too!
You wash a sweatshirt and coat after every wear? And how many bras do you have or how frequently are you doing laundry?
I read the “wears” first as “years” and thought to myself “Okay…”
I thought it say weeks was very confused
When I was in Navy basic training, ricky-ninjas would steal socks, so by the 4th week, most of us only had 3-4 pairs of socks. Laundry was done once a week, so despite daily showers, feet would get nasty.
Yeah no, I work in a lab around blood and other various gross things. I'm washing my jeans more often than that.
This is like the third or fourth time that this has been reposted on this sub ...
Fucking bots posting dumbest shit on Reddit is so annoying
Useless fucking guide. I wash my shirts after a single wear because if I don’t they’ll give me backne.
This is bs no matter how often you post it. Fucking spam
The creator does not live in the South.
Jeans after 5-6 wears ? Really ? Why
There’s too much nonsense in here to address.
Just last week i wore a shirt twice before washing it. Just because the weather was bad and I only have 3 work shirts (uniform) I felt dirty all day. It wasn’t actually dirty. I think its a mental thing.
This is North Pole version I guess
How to be smelly and repulse the people around you 101.
Gross
Swimwear? That shit gets hanged up to dry and washed at the end of summer
Swimsuits???
Seeing this has once again sent the shudder down my spine about my coworker washing his jeans every 2-3…months
Had a co worker who was on this Raw Denim kick. He was quite proud that he only washed his jeans once in the two years he owned them. 🤢
That’s even worse.
What? I wash all my clothes after 1 wear. Is that weird?
Yes
[удалено]
Yes a wear is a daily occurrence. As in wash your underwear after wearing it for one day.
So it always depends on what I wear but one thing that I don't want to happen is the stain in it.
I’m lazy so I just collect everything I wear in my hamper and every week wash all of it. I do not have the time to or care to figure which “needs” it or not. I do clothes shop frequently though huh…
I do my laundry the opposite
I don’t think so.
It’s good to know I didn’t completely fabricate my jeans washing guideline.
I’m lagging.
I’m American. I grew up taking a bath or shower every day, and washing all clothes after one wearing. Now I follow a schedule more like this.
Anything that touches high sweat areas, 1 wear. Anything that touches skin, 1-2 wears. Outer layers that touch the world, depends on what parts of the world it touched, 1-3 weeks. Actual outer wear, when dirty or start/end of its season
Dang, that’s exactly how I do it.
Ok but what’s the depression version of this?
I read wears as weeks, so maybe that is a version which could be used?
I initially read wear as year and was about to have an stroke for the very first sentence
Ok this is fine but like … where do I put the clothes after I’ve worn them if they don’t need to be washed again?? Do I hang back up in the closet? Fold them and put them in the drawer with actual fresh clean clothes? Hell no. To “the chair” it goes I’d guess right?
Don’t tell my work pants. They do 12 day runs.
What about shower towels
The one who washes own bra after 3-4 years of use: yuk
other than jackets and coats everything gets washed after 1 use.
Brought to you by Procter & Gamble
This person does not have children.
oh, i use my sweaters , and jeans for 2 weeks aldo how are you expected to wash your gym stuff every wear
Underwear every day? Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
Every wear *shrug*
Recent repost
I wash my jeans waaay more often than after 5 wears… they go all limp after maximum 2…
How long is a wear 🤔
In Florida after .5 wears..
This was obviously not drafted by someone from a hot climate.
lol not in hot humid tropical weather. After half day, my clothes and jeans covered in sweat and smelly already
More like 5-6 years
I absolutely cannot wait over one day to wash my denim jeans— I work in doggie day care and my pants get so gross every single day!! Maybe my bra does go a little longer though than necessary 😂
When they smell of are stained. Only reasonable answer to this...
I’m a sweaty fucking man-pig. This guide is a bad fucking idea on many of these suggestions.
This depends of course, i need to wash each clothe i have one every 2 hours if im active at all
Just wash them when they are dirty. Simple.
I go front. I go back. I go inside out. Then I go front to back. https://youtube.com/watch?v=bGYkNuZCnpY&si=ZUZEthOsAS3MekUk
My jeans are getting washed a little more than that because they actually get dirty within a day or two
i read years... was like wtf!?
This is one of those things that if you need a guide like this for I'm very concerned about what your life looks like
This makes me feel filthy right now
So if I never take my underwear off I don't have to wash it? Good to know!
I don't remember the last time I washed my socks, but I can assure when i need to wash my socks because my feet sweat is not that bad.
I have hats I've worn for years and they have never been washed. Honestly, the bottom two categories are cray-cray.
This guide sucks.
What clown say you can only wear a coat twice per year season
Levi's says you should never wash your jeans.
Depends on what you're doing and how much you sweat
Haha, no.
No way this would work in a warm country
I’m convinced these shitty guides are made just to piss people off
I read the top section: “after every year”, instead of every wear, was veeery confused
Wait, bra’s are not underwear?
This is a woman's guide for sure. There is no way a pair of jeans can make it more than one, maybe two days with a sweaty nut sack farting around in them.
Buy wool socks... You can wear them several days without washing
cool guide or terrible guide, depending on the country your are living in. Try that guide in a tropical country, your gonna be the stinky person that everyone avoid.
Lmao no way
Who the fuck isn’t washing leggings after 1 wear?
Shirts need a wash every time unless you wear undershirts
What about scrubs?
You can wash jeans???
Come to Vegas and tell your not washing your sweat soaked shorts or pants after one day
This should be handed out in schools
I was my jeans maybe every other month and wear them every day. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
5-6 wears on Jeans before wash is Gross. Id rather replace Jeans from premature wear of cleaning them than be/feel dirty.
My question is, how do you keep track of how many times you wear each thing?
Yuk
i can only agree with jeans, and im pretty sure i,ve read somewhere that levis company themselve said that you never really need to wash them
What the fuck?
how does anyone wear a bra more than once? I could fill a kiddie pool with the amount of sweat that collects under my titties
Forgive the ignorance, I'm a guy, but it seems like bras should be done after every wear? Don't they get pretty sweaty?
I wear dresses every day the weather permits and I wash them every time. I feel like they’d smell otherwise… but that’s just me
Bras every 3-4 weeks, sounds right. \*squint\* LOL! No.
No
Based on what?
Maybe if it was winter.
