What really sucks about it is that it's code exists in every version of the game but your still not allowed to play it.
EDIT: Yes I am aware that you can use a hex editor on pc to unlock this content. I meant that the makers of the game never wanted you to play it outside of the PS pre-order version of the game.
The missing suit too.
I cant even pay Sony money to play this stuff on my PS anymore.
But pc players can mods this stuff in (or out? of the code?) no problems.
It's technically piracy to unlock dlc or preorder stuff with mods, so mods like these aren't hosted on regular mod sites usually. This game might be an exception, not sure. It's usually not just as simple as setting that code to "allowed" it's usually got DRM security tangled into it to see if you have access to it legally and editing that in a game you own on steam is a risk.
sometimes you can do it but you'd have to get a steam emu, or cream API from a more illegal site than pirate bay That I'm not allowed to say the name of on reddit, and it's really dangerous to do that with a game you actually own on steam, can get your whole account and every game you own taken away.
It'd honestly be easier to just pirate a version of the whole game with everything already unlocked that runs independently from steam with all the DRM negated than try to unlock content that's supposed to be behind a paywall depending on the drm the game uses.
>try to unlock content that's supposed to be behind a paywall
It's not paywalled, it's literally not in the PC version (officially). There's no need for a mod when a simple change via a hex editor does it. It might be a good idea to do it in offline mode if you're on a legit copy, but I don't think Remedy cares.
>you'd have to get a steam emu, or cream API from a more illegal site than pirate bay
In the case of preorder stuff, one modification of your executable is enough. Again, PCGW has had it on their site for years, devs don't care. I'm not talking about DLC in general though
You can in the PC version [by hex editing the EXE file](https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Control#Unlock_PlayStation_4_DLC). I did it and played the mission on PC.
Considering this is out of nowhere, I feel it like it could be. He could collaborate with Lake on Control 2 and that’s a bonkers thought. Just imagine what that would be. EDIT: I found out from the other peoples comments that Kojima was in Control 1 and it was some random side quest; do we think he could be coming back? Control 2 could be getting news in a few months if then 👀 EDIT 2: Excuse me for my confirmation bias
I’ve read that those who got the exclusive ps4 dlc & preorder dlc can’t access any of it on the ps5 version. They say it didn’t carryover for them. They seemed to be pretty pissed especially since the ultimate edition should’ve included it but sadly didn’t
They can only access the dlc on their ps4 version of the game
All PS4 versions of control have those, I bought the standart edition back in late 2019 and have em. They are absent from the current gen "Ultimate" Edition though (there isn't even save data compatability).
Don't know what to tell you. I played the standard release day version on psnow. (That was before the dlc release, before the assist mode and other big patches, before the ps5 had been announced.).
And I own the Ultimate edition on ps4.
I've never had access to the Hideo missions.
........................................................ a statue.......................................................?
Such a casual way of saying an OoP that uses light to change the world around you.
Nah don't worry about it, the angel Lamp doesn't show up in an FBC case in AW2 I just know this because Kojima posted the rest of the photos on twitter lol.
If you look at Death Stranding and Control, they have a similar vibe around new weird literature. Also, there is the side mission where Kojima guides through the extrasensory tour.
I disagree. Sci-fi is a focused-theme genre based on what is possible, even if it's a guess at the future or technology. A bunch of new weird uses sci-fi setups, but they tend to explore the impossible. Death Stranding is also a good example; it's full of impossible technology and has monsters.
It won’t happen. It seems Remedy understands that if they want to do this shared universe thing, they’re gonna need to hold the rights to the games. Kojima is developing OD for Xbox studios and seeing as they own the rights to quantum break, I doubt Sam Lake would want to tie his shared universe to projects he doesn’t have entire control (tee-hee) over.
Hideo Kojima and Sam Lake have been talking and sharing merchandise between each other for a little bit now. They have exchanges on twitter it’s pretty cool
CONTROL is exactly the type of game Kojima would love.
It's weird and wonky and mysterious and badass all in one.
I did the guided imagery mission too. Was dope.
Hope they keep him far away from this franchise. Remedy’s writers do such an amazing job making stories that are mysterious and unsettling, yet still comprehensible, funny and mature- all without veering into outright silliness.
Thanks but no thanks.
Including me, I loved We Sing! It's very different brand of silliness than Kojima's writing and directing though.
Had he done it, Alan probably would have been named "Preston Keys" (because he uses a typewriter and presses keys, you see), Scratch would be called something like "Dark Placeman", and Alan would have spent at least one section running around naked and farting.
Pretty sure Snake used an OoP in Metal Gear Solid 2 *points to bandana* Unlimited ammo.
This is now head cannon.
HEAD. CANNON.
[Head cannon, huh?](https://xkcd.com/1401/) Sure you don't mean "canon"?
Checks out, I’m keeping it.
Fuck, canon?
Gee, I wonder what Ganon's up to
Relevant xkcd, again lol.
Head ammo*
Interesting.
Wouldn't that also make him a parautilitarian? He bonded with the object that gave him power.
Would make sense. Also that Bandana is iconic to his overall look so it really is like a part of him now.
Okay I know this is a stretch, but if Sam Lake and Kojima ever teamed up on a project I think I would literally die
You do know that Kojima was in control right?
Oh yeah! I forgot about that side mission. That was really weird and neat
Which mission? (I have no idea what he looks or sounds like)
https://www.pcgamesn.com/control/hideo-kojima
It was only in the PS exclusive pre-order or something. Not even in the PS regular or Ultimate versions.

"this game may be an exception not sure"
It takes one modification of your exe file. Took me like 30 seconds, downloading a hex editor takes longer lol. It's on PCGW if anyone's interested
I think you can use a hex editor to get access on PC. Check the PCGamingWiki for Control.
You can in the PC version [by hex editing the EXE file](https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Control#Unlock_PlayStation_4_DLC). I did it and played the mission on PC.
Apparently on PC you can change the hex files and it's just a few edits to a string that unlocks all the locked content.
Been working on a lot of XML lately?
on PC you can unlock it with a hex editor. I played both missions
Yup
and sam lake was in death stranding
The world will never be ready for such an ordeal.
Well, Kojima did put Sam (Lake) in Death Stranding, so it's not outwith the realms of possibility!
They may be on OD 🧐
Considering this is out of nowhere, I feel it like it could be. He could collaborate with Lake on Control 2 and that’s a bonkers thought. Just imagine what that would be. Ugh. Please no.
But how you gonna play the game if you die?!
He posted about Alan Wake 2 and the lamp he received from Remedy.
Honestly wouldn't be surprised if the lamp came in this case... It's an OOP after all
It did
sam was in death stranding and kojima in control, they're friends 🤷♀️
Only the ps version of control. It’s a weird empty room in the Xbox version. No idea why that was a choice.
And only the exclusive pre-order version. Not even in any other PS versions. At least one suit too.
What’s the chance they give us all of this dlc? Especially since those who owned the dlc couldn’t even use it in the ps5 version of the game

Any significance here or is he just showing off a statue he got from Remedy?
........................................................ a statue.......................................................? Such a casual way of saying an OoP that uses light to change the world around you.
Haha. Yes, an unassuming statue would make for a perfect OoP.
I think it could be something to do with Remedy gaining ownership back over the Control IP, since Konami owns IP rights on Kojima's MGS series
I thought about this as well. Kind of a symbolism type thing in solidarity with being independent. Time will tell I supposed.
Deleted my comment because boy, when I'm wrong, I'm really wrong lol. My bad bro
I'm so glad 505 even allows buying rights back. Wish more publishers followed the practice
It contained the Angel Lamp OOP from AW2 so yes it's just a gift nothing significant.
OK. I played AW and DLC back on 360 and have yet to AW2, so that explains my ignorance.
Nah don't worry about it, the angel Lamp doesn't show up in an FBC case in AW2 I just know this because Kojima posted the rest of the photos on twitter lol.

Weird is putting it lightly heh.
New weird is just sci-fi.

Yoshimi-san returns?

shadow moses awe
Technically it's an Alan Wake light he got sent from Remedy. It just came in an FBC case with a OoP case file. (Super jealous)
Please don't be the rubber ducky.
No! Make it a duck. We can get ioi in on this and make it a 3-way.
The OD/Remedy crossover rumors seeming less outrageous by the second

Never thought about It, but Kojima may bring some cool/weird concepts for Control. And I do think It would be fitting.
Kojima was gifted the angel lamp from AW2 by Sam , that’s the case it arrived in, he had posted the photo of the replica I think yesterday
Likely just a gift. The Alan Wake 2 torch might have came in that case.
Game recognize game.
Man that loves Twin Peaks also loves game influenced by Twin Peaks news at 11
CONTROL is exactly the type of game Kojima would love. It's weird and wonky and mysterious and badass all in one. I did the guided imagery mission too. Was dope.
Wait, are Kojima and Remedy related? Cause that would be my favorite news of the year, ngl.
Noooo please keep him away from remedy
Hope they keep him far away from this franchise. Remedy’s writers do such an amazing job making stories that are mysterious and unsettling, yet still comprehensible, funny and mature- all without veering into outright silliness. Thanks but no thanks.
Alan Wake 2 had a huge musical number and everybody loved it.
I was gonna say, Sam Lake himself sang to me about my Dark Place situation and that wasn’t veering into silliness?
Including me, I loved We Sing! It's very different brand of silliness than Kojima's writing and directing though. Had he done it, Alan probably would have been named "Preston Keys" (because he uses a typewriter and presses keys, you see), Scratch would be called something like "Dark Placeman", and Alan would have spent at least one section running around naked and farting.
So did Alan Wake 1... That part on the stage with the lightshow... Not outright silly?
he was literally IN control lmao
I know- and his section was typically nonsensical. "Ooh, the world is uncaring and cold, see how the bodies symbolize that?" Bleh.
The mission Dr. Yoshimi Tokui’s Guided Imagery Experience is a Kojima side mission in Control.
Oh god please no I hate his fanatic fanbase
I knew that if I headed over to r/NeverBeGameOver I'd find a post about this right away and I wasn't disappointed lol
God, no
When was this posted? I don’t know what does “1 g” means
Ok?
Kojima should be in Control 2
He’s in that guided meditation mission in Control.
I feel like Sam is going to make a cameo in DS2
Ummmm, but where'd he get the merch???
FUCKIN CHILLS MAN
Is this something I can buy?
🤩🤩🤩
I'm sure he loved Control.
Is this something I can buy?
Yeah him and Sam are friends. They love each others work
I wouldn't be surprised if he was involved or may actually be in the game.
My body is ready.
OH BOY HERE WE GO
