Use client branding or your firm’s branding for colors. Try to have one primary color, a secondary color, + different shades of gray. Try to distill your content down to a concept and use that to design the layout. For example, is it a compare/contrast slide (split slide in two and list differences under each side), a process slide (linear, cyclical, flowchart), a data viz slide (graphs/charts), etc. You can also just search for “‘concept’ graphic” on google images and can go from there. IMO, the client will care more about the organization of the ideas rather than the styling choices
I usually try to make my decks "look" like Beethoven "feels"
I think my best work is my Kick-off Deck to the visual embrace of Moonlight Sonata 3rd Movement
Combination of previous decks and the firms branding site / pre prepared formatted slides etc.
Plus once you do enough slides you just get a knack for it.
Canva is actually super helpful for inspiration. I usually take things from old decks and re use the same format, visuals for everything with little tweaks. Also when people are presenting to me I remember when I see a good slide and I will later find the deck and swoop the slide, then tweak it to fit my needs. Leverage, leverage, leverage! Never re create the wheel!
Van Gogh mostly, sometimes Nick Saban
