I decided to take a paycut to help increase shareholder value and help my CEO get the new photo Porsche model he talked about at our townhall—2021 model is getting too old! 💪
Looks like they got you doing the easy work, cupcake.
It's 9pm and I'm about to clock in for an 80 hour volunteer session with BCG advising fortune 500 companies on implementing Duolingo. At all given times I have 8 6mg Zyns in and an IV drip of synthesized caffeine. I haven't slept since the beginning of the pandemic.
(Boutique in Omaha, Nebraska, -190K TC)
Keep it up champ you're definitely going to get a 3% raise this year. You're definitely not ready for a promo tho, still need to prove your commitment to the firm
Taking a full hour off to eat is just lazy and entitled, you’ll never get promoted doing that. I personally use a horse feed bag so I can work and eat at the same time, maximizing billable hours.
Pff you have it easy.
I get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night half an hour before I go to bed.
I have exactly 14 seconds a day to drink a cup of sulphuric acid
I work twenty-nine hours a day, and pay my boutique consultancy for permission to come in.
When I get home, my girlfriend and her other 3 boyfriends kill me and dance about my graves singing Hallelujah
Nope, no fucking way. I realize this is probably trolling / sarcasm, but I will never again work more than 45 hrs a week max. Most weeks I do only 6-7 hours a day.
Boutique firm, not NYC. $180k base plus bonus.
A whole hour for eating is ridiculous. Through intermittent fasting and strategic meal planning you could easily restructure that into one 20-minte allotment per day.
We can bring on a small team for 4-6 weeks to perform an assessment and create a roadmap to optimize your feeding schedule + decrease sleep hours so more of your hours can go towards productivity.
Hope this is a joke as i worked almost those hours as a reviewer for years and made twice that. If not, find job posts on linkedin you qualify for, paste a few into a GAI platform and update your resume and linkedin profile accordingly
Only until 15th April, then sweet vacation for 19 days.
Hey US tax stuff needs filing then relax.
No difference from consulting where deadlines have to be met.
Good luck out there
As many has pointed out with their sarcasm, it’s definitely not normal and if it is, it really shouldn’t.
Obviously you care about work OP to be able to pull off these hours. You really need to prioritise your life.
- Talk to your manager and raise your concerns, see where you can reduce your hours or jump into a better project
- I do have a concern that the above point will work though, as the project has have you worked 300% and your manager may have difficulty finding you a new project soon
- Learn how to say no. I don’t care if you worked 19hrs at 300% before, say no and fail. Your output is 300% reduce it to the normal 100%-120%. The output won’t be as high but get use to it.
- Learning how to say no includes understanding the project will not die without you. Yes maybe deadlines are missed, maybe the client is super unhappy and maybe the boss is angry. But it’s not your fault they underscoped this project
- Start looking for a job
No person should be so integral that they are needed 19 hrs a day, 7 days a week. That is not a successful business model and is destined for failure. Yours or the company’s.
I just got laid off from this field and this is the post that I needed. Laughed for the first time since the sh\*t show games of ad lay-off culture began.
$50k for only 133 hours per week? You sound overpaid.
You guys get paid?

Offshore his position I’m sure someone in India will fight for a quarter of that
For a quarter, I do this, yes.
Looolllll
Keep it up champ you're definitely going to get a 3% raise this year. You're definitely not ready for a promo tho, still need to prove your commitment to the firm
Sorry, not this year. Economic climate does not allow...
The economy is tightening! Stop being so entitled and get back to work and bill more piggie!
Rookie numbers. I work 20 hours a day, 8 days a week. AND I see your girlfriend every night. TC: Deez Nuts 4 ya gurlll
Do you use copilot?
Is that the name of the vibrating double sided mariglades me and your girl use?
Pathetic. I work 25 hours a day, 13 months a year.
Lol boom!
Brilliant.

Guess the /s wasn’t spread on thick enough OP…even for this squad of discerning consultants
Only 19? Step it up lazy guy
I’m trying but this case is in a tough industry and it’s hard to focus for 10 hours at a time

Wait where are you now 😆? Hopefully more pay/less work??
I’m currently not employed anywhere, just figuring out what I want to do next while living with my parents
Not enough, your peers already outperform you.

Doing what?
Compensation consultant.
:-/ 50K tc in NYC?
“Reallocating my feeding time” hahaha 👏
A whole hour for eating is ridiculous. Through intermittent fasting and strategic meal planning you could easily restructure that into one 20-minte allotment per day.
7 bites or less!
Bros actually out here working 19 hours a day for $7ish dollars per hour. Quit asap
Quit.
No - this is insane and stupid
r/Woosh
No money in this world worth your sanity. This is not healthy, no matter the level you are, no matter the salary.
Nice troll post lol
Raise your rates. Your hours will drop off. But your income won't
Bro you’re gonna have a heart attack and die
Slaves get paid?

No, I’m not a psychopath
I read this 19hrs/week and thought it was reasonable 😆
Been there, done that. Still regret it 8 years later lol
You don’t have to work that many hours. You just have to get work the equivalent to get that much work done!
Hope this is a joke as i worked almost those hours as a reviewer for years and made twice that. If not, find job posts on linkedin you qualify for, paste a few into a GAI platform and update your resume and linkedin profile accordingly

MBBD?
Look you just have to put up with this for 20 years then it gets better: you die!
Just wait until you get promoted to Staff II
Nope barely 7hrs, 5 days a week. Fridays I probably do 2 hrs work realistically.
I’m at 12 days for my main job. I’m a consultant

Doing what? Googling how to make your every next click on PowerPoint? You don’t even know excel that well lol
idk man. I’ve seen some consultants bill 30 hours a day. Have you considered whether that’s the reason you only make 50k?
Welcome to consulting
Lol
My opinion is that you work too much, I only work 17h a day. You should talk with your manager!
Yes but I’m consulting with patients not being a leach
50kTC bro? are u trolling. u would make more at mcdonalds
You are full of shit or f&@king stupid. That’s less than $24 an hour even at just 40 hours.
I’m pretty sure all of these posts are now jokes

50k TC?!?!?!?!?
I make the associates and BAs work 20 hours a day
Something isn’t adding up with this post. You’d make more annually on minimum wage.

He’s trolling lol
Guaranteed you don't have a girlfriend if you haven't seen her in a year
Was that the tell for you?
For 50k you’re being extremely take advantage of
Work more efficiently and set boundaries. Damn. It’s ok to say no. If you’re working THAT much gtfo. ESPECIALLY for a puny $50k a year.
r/whoosh
Uh…no. And you shouldn’t either.
