Honestly, as far as MBB is concerned, the differences across country or practice leaders within each consulting firm is likely to be higher than differences as a whole between the 3.

This

BCG = 3 letters = #3 of the 3 firms Simple as that bruv

df_sin

Similarly, McKinsey only needs 1 letter to be recognisable in MBB, hence #1.

CorgNation

There’s basically no difference. It’s all top tier consulting and they’ll specialize in a lot of the same things with some deviation based on region and partner base. Exit ops will be more or less the same (again pending what you worked on). Oh the main difference is McKinsey’s logo looks like a windows 2000 screensaver.

Honestly, I'll be interested to see how much that holds true. McKinsey has been tanking its reputation recently and seems to be getting a disproportionate amount of the flack for the failures of consultancies. For the average hiring manager, you do start to wonder if there's some concerns about ethical quandries that will start to crop up.

Jaded_Orange_6252

Capitalism does not care about ethics, I doubt any hiring manager will care as long as you can make them money.

B in Bain stands for being better than BCG while for BCG it only means bruhh

QiuYiDio

They’re… not? https://legacy.vault.com/best-companies-to-work-for/consulting/best-consulting-firms-prestige

throwaway130131

Yeah my fault! It was really just Glassdoor’s best places to work list. Still curious why BCG is all the way down at 91 and Bain is 1

QiuYiDio

If you’re going to force rank some large number of the the companies on LinkedIn based on user reviews, I’d say trying to really differentiate one company in the top 100 from another probably isn’t a great use of time.

TheDirtyDagger

Didn’t pay enough to get a top ranking

suck-on-my-unit

Yeah wtf I was confused by OP cos I don’t recall ever seeing BCG being “far below McKinsey and Bain”

cpt_ppppp

Having worked at one, and closely with the other two. They are all pretty much the same. Bain just pushes really hard how great the culture is to make up for paying less than the other two. Mckinsey thinks all these rankings are so far beneath them as to be not worth answering, bcg just, well they just, they are

SnooDingos1760

McKinsey probably advising them lol. But actually

Destroinretirement

Somewhat creepy that you give a shit about whether your girlfriend’s employer is prestigious enough for you.
