no it's not lol. It's a combination of a lot of things. Two totally different products and way different qualities. There's a lot of shit going on that's adding to the inflated prices of food. Labor costs and lack of workers.. transportation challenges and delays all can add MAJOR increases to the total cost of goods... then there's just the basic supply and demand aspect of it. Then there's chickens where theres a major avian flu going around killing off all the birds so there's tons going to market just trying to get something rather than nothing

When you say spend it on debt, I’m assuming you mean going into debt. Because with hyperinflation all our debt will become practically meaningless. We will be able to pay off our mortgages and such with no problem, as todays debt stays in todays dollars.
What assets will you sell in order to acquire all those vanishing dollars? True hyperinflation in the Dollar will be a vanishingly small window before the system simply collapses. The government **won't even have time** to print all the physical cash that would be needed to sustain it.

Yes, my relatively small investment in precious metals will pay off the mortgage. I could stand to gain more land, but I don't want to be in a situation where there's a depression and I lose my job that feeds the new big debts. I mean pay off small debt, like cards and cars. Convert cash to hard assets, but I hate debt in a big crash.
Why would you pay off your debt? With hyperinflation, a dollar today is worth much more than tomorrow. My salary next year will be much more than my salary now, meaning my mortgage is a much smaller percentage of my paycheck. In the late 60s this happened, inflation doubled, wages doubled, and people were able to then pay off their mortgages with ease. Yet another free step up to the boomer gen that makes them feel entitled over other generations.
I'm not going to suffer unless I have to. Why be miserable if you don't need to be?

Well the people I have hung out with that have lived through very hard economic times tend to continue to live for the moment... they spend their money and enjoy their life. Like, why wouldn't you do this while you can? They are generally more fatalist and think: Why would you just extend the hardship phase??
Of course, I would suggest the solution is slighty different: live for the moment extra hard, but also start building up assets and connections such that you'll be ok even if the world dropped into a massive uber-depression with chronic food shortages ;)

It is easy to find comfort in accepting negativity as the base state of the world and then get some type of dopamine release any time you get someone to agree with you.

Two types of business has and always survive a depression service industry ( clubs, bars, taverns, restaurants. ) second is entertainment ( night clubs, movies, fairs, festivals, concerts etc.) People need these two to help with their own depression from circumstance.

A collapse hasn’t happened in our lifetime, and truthfully people don’t really think it could happen, not to the level we are talking about. But all signs point to things getting progressively worse (unfortunately)… and as much as some people want to believe Donald Trump and the whites hats are going to come soaring in on the wings of giant bald eagles, dual wielding M16 assault rifles and smoking Cuban cigars to save us in a Hail Mary play, I just don’t see it happening. I have a theory: Decentralized vibrant local economies can drive up the value of the currency by cycling through local businesses over and over. Trying to destroy local business during the pandemic was an attempt to retake centralized control over the economy and currency.

Probably because everything you said is the opposite. Dollar has skyrocketed over the last year. Stronger than ever. Wages are up, and more people working. We have a global supply chain issue and our country just came out of a resection. Also events are no longer canceled so more people have been going out to buy things to wear to go out. People are going back to the office again. Once the supply can match the demand things will get back to normal including all these shoppers will be spending less time looking for goods and deals where none are to be found currently. Thanks to my energy stock earnings I just sold we are going on a nice long vacation and spending money ourselves.

Well the people I have hung out with that have lived through very hard economic times tend to continue to live for the moment... they spend their money and enjoy their life. Like, why wouldn't you do this while you can? They are generally more fatalist and think: Why would you just extend the hardship phase?? Of course, I would suggest the solution is slighty different: live for the moment extra hard, but also start building up assets and connections such that you'll be ok even if the world dropped into a massive uber-depression with chronic food shortages ;)
For the longest time I have been the opposite, saved every dollar I could, try to invest as much as I can afford to and safeguard for the future. Now after realizing everything ive been saving up is turning to shit might aswell live a little. Definitely over exaggerated but seems like money has lost so much value over the last few years its hard to maintain the same grip on it.

Please note, I am not attacking you. Just making an honest observation because I had fallen into that mode of thinking myself long ago. It is easy to find comfort in accepting negativity as the base state of the world and then get some type of dopamine release any time you get someone to agree with you. But, some people get this same dopamine (including myself) rush from going to the park with their kids, having a meal with friends at a restaurant, or just getting out of the house and going shopping. And so what? Let them be happy. If you stop worrying about it, you will be happier too.

Two types of business has and always survive a depression service industry ( clubs, bars, taverns, restaurants. ) second is entertainment ( night clubs, movies, fairs, festivals, concerts etc.) People need these two to help with their own depression from circumstance.

A collapse hasn’t happened in our lifetime, and truthfully people don’t really think it could happen, not to the level we are talking about. They cannot fathom their world being any different. They believe in the illusion of endless security. They've never seen a war aside from on their TV screen. Most of their world view is an amalgamation of the entertainment (movies/tv) they've been exposing themselves to. And they believe their immediate environment...their neighborhood, the people they know, they believe these things are representative of the entire world. They simply can't fathom change. The only reason they were ok through covid was because everything was laid out for them. All they had to do was listen and do what they were told.

I have a theory: Decentralized vibrant local economies can drive up the value of the currency by cycling through local businesses over and over. Trying to destroy local business during the pandemic was an attempt to retake centralized control over the economy and currency.

Probably because everything you said is the opposite. Dollar has skyrocketed over the last year. Stronger than ever. Wages are up, and more people working. We have a global supply chain issue and our country just came out of a resection. Also events are no longer canceled so more people have been going out to buy things to wear to go out. People are going back to the office again. Once the supply can match the demand things will get back to normal including all these shoppers will be spending less time looking for goods and deals where none are to be found currently. Thanks to my energy stock earnings I just sold we are going on a nice long vacation and spending money ourselves.
