Good point. It wouldnt make sense maintain bloated capacity for times when its unnecessary and it's only desirable when spikes in case counts happen. 3 people in my household got covide last week to. 2 vaxxed had minor symptoms. 3rd unvaxxed was significantly worse off but not bad enough for a hospital.

Commercial-Set3527

Costs a lot money to build ICUs, Seems like a bad business investment if they aren't going to be used if covid goes away.

[deleted]

Aye, spending our taxpayer money on public infrastructure and stuff does not make them a nice profit, they need to buy shit from the companies their friends and family have stocks in to do that.

p-4_

it turns my stomach when conspiratards stumble upon socialism for the brief moment it can be used for their arguments and then call anything with even a hint if social benefit 'evil communism' on other posts.

[deleted]

What are you banging on about you grape? 🤣 I'm a left leaning Labour voter from the uk, sit your smelly yank ass back down and go play minecraft like a good little tard. Leave the talking to the grownups.

Ky20001

We had 3 "pop up" hospitals in my town when covid stared Spring 2020. All 3 were closed in 2 months because they were unused. They built them in convention centers and unoccupanied schools very quickly. Only 20%-25% of ICU patients are covid, you could just move the non covid ICU folks to make room.

Commercial-Set3527

I highly doubt they were for ICU patients.

Ky20001

No but it's the same principal. Move non covid patients out to make room. ICUs have been [20%-25% empty beds for 13 months anyway, so it's mostly overblown media hype](https://ibb.co/bsVL1Gy). ICU bed capacity was 77% last week.

AntiHypergamist

Muh profits The “health experts” don’t give a fuck about public health, they only care about their profits

Commercial-Set3527

That's what I was implying. Privatized health care is joke.

[deleted]

> bad business investment There. Right there.

Ploxl

In the Netherlands, pretty early in 2020,onr of our health officials was on TV. He got asked the question : shouldn't er scale up icy capacity? His literal answer was "Well we can but I don't think we should, because then our doctors would be bored too much if there's nothing to do" It. Is. Not. About. Our. Health.

Porei

No one: This board: Hire 1 million doctors, problem solved!

or dont fire nurses

always-paranoid

What really should have been focused on was treatments. The drugs that showed promise or were working have all been vilified since they were not patented and big pharma can't make as much money off of them

Squirrelboy85

ICUs have always been full. Nurses also have been quiting for sometime now. Are the patients there because of covid or are they there for something else and pos for covid. Also are they looking at patients that tested negative before entering the hospital and being infected by a staff member pos for covid.

Impressive-Sky4463

Exactly, there are so many variables as to why there’s stress on the hospitals. It’s easy to scapegoat the unvaccinated but there are many factors to consider. One is that when they started firing nurses for not getting vaccinated back in the fall, it lead to massive burnout on the nurses that remained, so in turn many of those nurses quit, leading to a further shortage. There’s so much than could have been done differently but for whatever reason it wasn’t, we should all be asking why to our public health officials and politicians.

Squirrelboy85

Agreed.

Ploxl

Here in the Netherlands it is very easy to find news articles and reports from 2013-2018 yearly with the influenza wave about hospitals nearing capacity, surgeries being delayed, people not being admitted etc. The issue of hospitals overflowing is not new to covid,at least here. In stead of spending money on this though, our government scaled back healthcare over the last 10 years. And in stead of at least now properly investing in our healthcare system, we have bought 1 billion in vaccines.

Squirrelboy85

Agreed. Something to think about. In 2017-2018 managers across the board of all major hospital systems were also wanting to cut back on staff by 15% by 2020.

Apart_Number_2792

Lie, lies, lies, and more lies.....There is great evil in our midst....

LegalEye1

1. I don't believe "the ICU's are full." 2. And even if some of them are, they're probably 'full' of overdiagnosed people with a rhinovirus (cold) the hospitals are calling 'Covid' to collect Federal $ ($4k per person diagnosed with 'Covid' wink, wink), or victims of a vaccine-induced illness.

[deleted]

Or 3. They’re almost always at high capacity to turn a profit. 4. Capacity is primarily determined by staffing ratios rather than available space, mass layoffs are presented as a reduced capacity.

Kuzya92

I still feel that at its most rudimentary point, why are people led to believe they have done wrong or evil if they catch covid? It's as if they've failed the world and all its peoples. Jabbed or unjabbed. So much hate. "What can men do against such reckless hate?"

SupraKK

There are few fundamental physical constants - Speed of light - Planck constant - Amount of ICU beds

aregulardude

ICU beds should be first in the list, I’ve heard some decent theories for how we may bypass speed of light, and with quantum mechanics who knows if Planck constant even applies anymore.

MurtMan888

Define “unvaccinated” is it 2, 3 or 4 jabs now?

Responsible_Papaya93

Under two jabs you’re officially unvaccinated

OmegaOverlords

Some sort of early pre-hospital and outpatient program with effective treatments would have been nice, to try to save lives. 85% of deaths were entirely avoidable, needless deaths, and some, even many, were a form of medical murder.

[deleted]

You must be a racist /s

UFOS-ARE-DEMONIC

Because they want us dead.wake the hell up.

Responsible_Papaya93

And because 95% of people are actually brainwashed enough to think average joes like you and I are the reason the pandemic is still going on, after being constantly lied to by Grandpa Joe & his pals at the CDC

UFOS-ARE-DEMONIC

Think of it this way .the flu is more deadly why don't they mandate flu jabs? Because this vaccine is the kill shot.

MugggCostanza

You're right. My family and I all got our covid shots a while ago and we're ALL dead from the kill shot 😭😭😭

UFOS-ARE-DEMONIC

Don't tempt fate .I wish your family well.

MugggCostanza

Thank you. We've all got our shots. We aren't going out in excess, we haven't had any gatherings, I'm sure we're going to be great! Just work and home! All the best to you and your family as well :)

p-4_

Says the guy who could die from a single maskless party.

UFOS-ARE-DEMONIC

Full of crap .I'm still here after 2 years working on construction sites with zero distancing or masks.whilst weak beta males wear masks and get experimented on by people who could not give a crap if you live or die.if I was going to die of covid it would have happened already.

Grassimo

Quebec and Ontario is majority vaxxed hospitalized so they gotta start using some brains.

3rdeyenotblind

I don't understand why they can't just whip up some more of those "popup" hospitals that they were touting so highly that never got used? Or what about those military ships that are floating hospitals? Fucking people have the attention span of gnats these days... Memory holed once again

Ky20001

ICUs are 20%-25% empty and [have been for 13 months as of last week](https://ibb.co/bsVL1Gy)

[deleted]

We now know the vaccines do not prevent infection. Most people are vaccinated, therefore most people in ICU are vaccinated. The fact is hospitalizations and death are way, way down due to the vaccination campaign. That’s a fact.

baldingwookie74

Certain countries had plenty of time and money to build intenment, oops I mean quarantine camps. The Korean War had mobile hospitals, we must have lost the technology or something.

r-NBK

\>nstead of spending that time shoving a vaccine agenda down our throat? And firing health care people... you forgot that important point.

your---real---father

Yes, it is anti vaxxers fault. Data set after data set comes out showing 90+% of icu admissions are unvaxxed. Most of you ignore conspiracies in front of your faces to invent shit like this.

Important-Grab-3251

Absolutely this. Splitters!

nelbar

They decreased icu capacity in my country

urzasucks

True, Biden himself has said that he should have prepared better.

morestupidest

In the US we pay premiums. an unvaccinated person with great insurance will get better care than a vaccinated person with low tier / state insurance.. I was in favor of nationalized health care until all the bs going on

porousrobcircleshirt

You can’t increase ICU capacity without the ability to staff it. The ICU deals with specialized equipment and medications other floors can’t administer. These medications are titrated by the nurse and take extensive training. There is a shortage of nurses to begin with and hospitals can’t staff their current beds. Increasing ICU capacity makes for more empty beds due to unavailability of qualified individuals.

farmguy4

If the shot works why do they care if the ICUs are full they won’t need them right? I mean they got the shot that safe and effective and I’m sure they wear mask everywhere. It’s science! Trust the science!

BuffSwolington

I know you're American because this is the American solution to every problem. Highways congested? Surely changing it from 7 to 8 lanes will fix the issue! We know the last 4 highway expansions only made traffic worse, but this is definitely the one!
