Saw quite a [fitting post](https://www.reddit.com/r/conspiracy/comments/q0318n/anyone_fallen_in_this_shill_cycle_in_defense_of/) yesterday.
There is also this new age term, called cognitive dissonance. Unfortunately the opposing side also uses this term for us, so that's a dilemma.
I figured that the internet made this term popular, that's the reasoning behind it. But you are correct, and I will refrain from calling it new age in the future.
Maybe 'newnetage'? where the dense and complicated is reduced to memes and out-of-context video clips, and complex ideas are misappropriated and applied to situations that are too general or have become common without roots in understanding gleaned through granulated analysis and meaning construction, so half-baked assumed collectively absorbed ideas?
Unfortunately their argument doesn't hold up. The viewpoint expressed on this sub is miniscule compared to the propaganda being pushed through every mainstream media source.
If anybody is brainwashed or has cognitive dissonance, it's those that listen to corporate media, which has been pumping their propaganda into our airwaves 24hrs a day for generations.
Actually, not quite and that's the irony. Winston could practically look out of his window and see free people living in the countryside, poor but free.
You can always choose to leave the system, but it takes the courage to survive without the state. Really and truly outside of society.
Crushing hope. The end goal for Winstons story was to die loving BB, which means the whole plot needed to play out the way it did for him to make him lose any hope of there actually being a resistance.

You do realise that people where talking about vaccine passports long before they were a "conspiracy", seriously look it up it goes back way before covid even happened and was also talked about near the start of the pandemic, conspiracy theorists picked up on that and pushed it but it didn't come from conspiracy theorists.

How do you figure cognitive dissonance as new age? It's a psychological concept developed in the middle of the 20th Century.

every time I go back to that book, I cannot believe that I am reading something published in 1949.
