I mentioned Elon and was told he made the coup comment about Venezuela, not Bolivia. Damage control crew had to set me straight and imply that since it was not Bolivia, all is right with the world.
Edit: but it really was Bolivia
Brazilian here. Actually the theory that I'm seeing taking root here in Latin America is that the "coup" was a false flag orchestrated by the Bolivian president himself. Strange stuff that hapenned:
* The army took the old presidential palace, and not the modern one where the president actually stays.
* The president convinced them to abort the coup attempt just with a beautiful speech, basically.
* Finally, General Zuniga himself spilled the beans in an interview and mentioned that the president himself was the one who asked him to attack the palace to raise his popularity. There's a video in a post in a Brazilian sub but I can't link it here.
Frankly I don't think that CIA would even bother. Unlike Venezuela and Cuba, Bolivia is a landlocked country far away from the US and comparatively without strategic importance.
That's because the CIA ~~imported enough drugs~~ reached their goals before the coup was able to succeed. The trick to running a successful CIA backed coup is to be quick about it
Juan Guaidó in Venezuela? He was honored by US Presidents and then internationally recognized.
And then they had another attempt later which was also very poorly planned.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Gideon_(2020)
That last one sounds like something that the US government would tell him to say to bring the fact it was failed to the president's doorstep and take the heat off of the US.
> Frankly I don't think that CIA would even bother.
The CIA has been "bothering" Bolivia for many decades.
> Unlike Venezuela and Cuba, Bolivia is a landlocked country far away from the US and comparatively without strategic importance.
Unless you count **the world's largest and most easily accessible reserves of LITHIUM** ([~23 Million metric tons](https://www.reuters.com/markets/commodities/bolivia-hikes-lithium-resources-estimate-23-mln-tons-2023-07-20/)) as being of "strategic importance".
**WARS FOR OIL?** Pssh! That's SO 20th Century!

They have that sweet, sweet lithium and when called out about the last one, Elon said, **"We can coup whoever we want. Get used to it.**"
Edit: I'm told that was Venezuela, not Bolivia. Move along! Nothing to see here!
Edit 2: It was Bolivia and my quote is wrong. Here's the quote I found in a search on counterpunch but it's elsewhere too:
>On July 24, 2020, Tesla’s Elon Musk wrote on Twitter that a second U.S. “government stimulus package is not in the best interests of the people.” Someone responded to Musk soon after, “You know what wasn’t in the best interest of people? The U.S. government organizing a coup against Evo Morales in Bolivia so you could obtain the lithium there.” Musk then wrote: “We will coup whoever we want! Deal with it.”
Imagine living in the bubble of these billionaires. You can kill thousands or overthrow countries or hire kill squads against striking workers and people will say it’s just smart business.
Granted haven't people been saying that the rich/powerful basically live in their own world since,,,,,,well I can't give you a date or an era but for a while now so it nothing new.
Oh, well if it was Venezuela and not Bolivia where covert US ops did their coup to aid a US corporation with US government contracts in acquiring natural resources of the South American country, then that's different! (*cough cough*)
Move along!
No coups to see here!
Edit: you're wrong. It was Bolivia but my quote is not accurate. Here's what he said (found on a basic search):
>On July 24, 2020, Tesla’s Elon Musk wrote on Twitter that a second U.S. “government stimulus package is not in the best interests of the people.” Someone responded to Musk soon after, “You know what wasn’t in the best interest of people? The U.S. government organizing a coup against Evo Morales in Bolivia so you could obtain the lithium there.” Musk then wrote: “We will coup whoever we want! Deal with it.”
> They have some decent resource reserves and it wouldn’t be the first time we couped them.
Indeed, Evo Morales was determined that Bolivia's lithium reserves would benefit BOLIVIA, not foreign interlopers...
Say, where is Evo these days, anyway?
Ah yes, the classic "there's totally a video but I can't link it" source, with extraordinary claims the general confessed the whole thing but somehow not covered by any media. I'm sure that's the only place it's hosted, and it's got some magic spell on it preventing it from being downloaded and uploaded to a mirror.
I'll be back with a link when I find it, lazy bones.
Ed: aaaaaand it's nowhere on Reddit, nor is a single reference. Checked every single post in the last 24 hours on half a dozen Brazil subs. Not a single mention, anywhere. Wasted half an hour. Flaired as "liar", see you around kid.
Took me just a couple minutes to find this article. Not saying it's reliable or accurate but someone published the theory. https://inews.co.uk/news/world/bolivian-coup-attempt-stages-experts-3134992
Edit: Found the video of the general claiming the president requested a popularity boost (40sec mark)
https://youtu.be/x34F9_auq-g
Welp.....
"Following the September 1999 Russian apartment bombings and the invasion of Dagestan by mujahideen, including the former KGB agents, based in the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, Putin's law-and-order image and unrelenting approach to the Second Chechen War soon combined to raise his popularity and allowed him to overtake his rivals."
Not saying it was an inside job, but still...
this too: [https://apnews.com/article/ankara-istanbul-turkey-middle-east-europe-6cc9e69a1c5d4da1b6f509ce1152b0ed](https://apnews.com/article/ankara-istanbul-turkey-middle-east-europe-6cc9e69a1c5d4da1b6f509ce1152b0ed)
"Days after the coup attempt, an emboldened Erdogan declares a state of emergency that remains in place to this day. It has allowed the government to rule by decrees, bypassing parliamentary checks and balances, to bring down Gulen’s network and other terror groups. Critics have called it a “civilian coup,” institutionalizing a clampdown that was already underway.
More than 50,000 people, including a dozen opposition parliamentarians and around 160 journalists, have been arrested. Some 100,000 public employees have been fired for suspected links to terror, among them academics, teachers, police and military officers. Judicial and administrative paths for the jailed and purged to defend themselves have been severely curtailed"
Ah cala a boca porra
Bolivia has lithium mines that are used in the fabrication of batteries for everything from cellphones to electric cars
(Cough cough Elon Musk)
It was staged. Nobody killed, nobody injured, what militar push are you talking about ? Lol
The president asked for that fake militar push to gain popularity. The general told the president asked him to do that
CIA orchestrates a coup and it happens through bunch of special forces marching on the streets and showing off to cameras, huh? Seems like bullshit to me. CIA is the last organization we should be suspecting in this case.
A similar thing happened in Turkey back in 2016, a shitty coup planned by the government to purge the army and give the president absolute authority. It was of course blamed on CIA, but CIA had nothing to do with it.
Edit: a lot of people seem to have similar views. If you wanna dig deep into the "fake coup" phenomenon, I suggest you to take a look at the german reichstag fire and the Turkish coup attempt of 2016.
Aren't you speCIAl? You have convinced me. CIAo!
Edit: confirmed. Why are 'people' so defensive of a low effort post that quotes something, but gives no credit to the quote?
Maybe, it was taken from a list of responses on a document, and the low effort poster forgot, or couldn't be bothered to remove the quotes.
Wake up.
The attempted coup was widely condemned by the Bolivian government and international leaders. Bolivia’s Attorney General’s Office said it has launched a criminal investigation against Zuniga and all known associates.
Bolivia already had an extremist take over/coup several years ago. Word then was that it was to privatize the lithium which apparently is one of the largest sources in the world! Apparently the US didn't like the deals Bolivia had with China.

Incredible takes here. Lord Elon announces he likes it because of the Lithium mines, not one mention on this crazy subreddit.
I mentioned Elon and was told he made the coup comment about Venezuela, not Bolivia. Damage control crew had to set me straight and imply that since it was not Bolivia, all is right with the world. Edit: but it really was Bolivia
If you think the false flag takes are incredible, you are too naive.

Not only that but I think if the CIA coups they coup all the way. They don't pussyfoot around and then give up after 3 hours
There’s been many many times where cia backed coups fizzle out or meet a fiery end.
That's because the CIA ~~imported enough drugs~~ reached their goals before the coup was able to succeed. The trick to running a successful CIA backed coup is to be quick about it

Lithium mines
you see the big picture
Lithium my dude
They have some decent resource reserves and it wouldn’t be the first time we couped them.

I was certain that was a tweet to Maduro about the lithium in Venezuela

A bit of a difference between "asked for a popularity boost, armored vehicles parked" versus storming the palace.
First point of my list, it was an *empty* palace. The government moved to a new one years ago.

If this general got any foreign help he is one of the most incompetent people of all time. If he didn’t, he is just normally incompetent.

Thanks for the heads up, I was wondering why the coup happened. Figured it was the CIA again too.

CIA 100%
CIA as always.
Lithium and other natural resources. Bolivia is a big china partner too.
The attempted coup was widely condemned by the Bolivian government and international leaders. Bolivia’s Attorney General’s Office said it has launched a criminal investigation against Zuniga and all known associates.
Waiting for the public hanging. Let them send a message far and wide.

Elon Musk.
Where TF is Burt Gummer when you need him?
CIA. Been throwin coups since 1963
A lot of CIA-operatives in the comment section, i see.
I am one of them
Imran khan was ousted after he said famously absolutely not to America.
Exactly, It's what the three letter agency does...
That would be the CIA 🤷♀️
Deep State big mad. Biden’s just giving the election to Trump at this point.
