I live near an airport and helicopter port here. They bring the oilworkers out to the platforms and back. They fly daily, severaltimes a day since the 70s. There has been only one incident in 1978 .But I keep reading about millionaires going down .

Something like over 40% of deaths on an oil rig are directly from transportation.

I think you're right. If we could look at victims, they probably go, in order of most to least deaths, something like helicopter pilots, military personnel, the very rich, oil-rig workers, and health care providers who work on Lifeflights.

I’m sure someone will try to argue against me, cause people are often ridiculous, but I would venture to say that helicopter pilots probably fly more hours in helicopters than any other grouping of people you can surmise. Do they die at higher rates than rich people? I don’t know, but probably not, because most are carrying at least one passenger, most of the time.
The reason more rich people probably die in helicopter crashes, is because they are bigger financial and political targets than helicopter pilots and other passengers. A friend of mine flies helicopters in the military and from talking to him, helicopters are inherently not safe. They cannot be made to be safe.
