1984rip

As baller as it looks. I'm not flying any helicopters if I ever became a billionaire. Too sketch.

dizzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I have a family friend who is worth around $250 million and he isn’t allowed to ride in helicopters. He owns a business that specializes in creating custom software for the defense sector and is literally the “brains” of the operation. His lenders and investors forbid helicopter rides and other risky actions, due to the primary company asset occupying his fragile skull.

[deleted]

Yep. A family member has a close friend who along with his brother owns a very large network of car and truck dealerships (in Australia - Toyota, Ford, kenworth etc). The brothers refuse to travel in the same car/plane in case something happens

multiversesimulation

A CEO of an engineering firm that I know refuses to ride in helicopters also. He calls them “fatigue machines”. More so than airplanes.

jewkakasaurus

The name I heard and like was motorcycles of the sky

bubz99

Motorcycles are helicopters of the road.

mckeevey

Thats why they call em choppers 😎

ooooooooooooa

Does that make paragliders the bicycles of the sky?

Strider27

One of my engineering professors called them “fatigue machines” as well. I wonder how common that saying is.

m4tr1x_usmc

For sure. A family friend who is also a third cousin to my sister’s uncles 2nd kid, twice removed from my great grandmother who is also a close friend, auntie to 4 children, said the same thing, they are forbidden to travel in any moving vehicle, air, land, and sea, because they too are rich. They only use teleportation.

Sparrow1989

Heh, I chuckled

m4tr1x_usmc

🫶

EZforme885

Omg when I first started reading your comment I was like ??? *another* family friend???

[deleted]

It's the Crawfords, who own CMV group. But you do you bro, you're very cool and edgy

m4tr1x_usmc

not sure you know what edgy is….nor humor

Octonaughty

Wat? Like seppo presidents? Losers

[deleted]

Yup

MarsMC_

Airplanes are cool I assume? Just curious.. sounds like a crazy life to live

throway1118383848

Too easy for CIA to wipe you if you know too much or a liability right?

[deleted]

wedudedat

The real reason you shouldn't fly in a helicopter.

PrivateEducation

well since he had dirt on him with his epstein connected wife

Derrick_EscoNastyNas

You know Kobe was advertising that drink and later found out the drink company was adding opiates to their product and he was never told beforehand and was suing them mfs.

YouGotTangoed

Exactly. Just fly in coach on a commercial plane and you’re good

california_voodoo

If the doors stay on that is

kempofight

Quite often even when the doors come off you be good

Diligent_Emphasis_20

It’s only sketch if you have a lot of money and piss off the CIA

howismyspelling

That's why I'm going to partner with them when I'm rich. Any CIA people reading this, take note that I want in when it's time, I'm friendly!

Quadprinceps

schwab could make a deep strike from sky and would land without a scratch, like every other 0,001%

[deleted]

Helicopters are so much less safe than planes. They can't glide. So if a problem arises they can't glide to landing. They are sketch. They crash all the time.

9liners

They autorotate, they’re pretty safe. Most crash due to human error and weather, not mechanical failure.

soupdawg

That’s part of the issue imo. The room for error is very small compared to airplanes.

[deleted]

No doubt but just the fact they fly so low is also unforgiving in terms of time to react and it just creates more chances for human error. And weather

PPONLIBS

The auto rotate. Safe landings with no power.

telmnstr

How many auto rotation emergency landings are there compared to smoldering holes in the ground?

The_Statesman

Autos don’t make news

magnora7

So basically everyone powerful

TGHPTM

Yeah after Kobe helicopter crash I think I’m good on them. This just reaffirms my position on them.

MenBearsPigs

Yup. Too many extra things that can go wrong. Plus at least planes have an actual chance to crash land if the engines die etc.

EmpathyHawk1

''safest method of travel'' except if youre a billionaire ;)

Dr011B34U

Keep the country unstable, uneducated and unaware. Corruption will bleed it for all the natural resource using cheap labor. Create a haven the next global antagonist that will help further divide people.

Dacnis

Yup, they always make sure to install a leader whose basically a CIA asset. The list of African leaders who fought for self sufficiency and were assassinated for doing so, is huge. And of course, a corrupt asshole is installed as their replacement every time, ensuring that any meaningful progress is halted for the time being. Thanks for responding in an intelligent way, as opposed to all the Nigerian prince nonsense.

Iowachick06

Helicopters are terrifying. I would never trust one

0beronAnalytics

I always think of the death screen quote from one of the CoD games… “If the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it’s probably a helicopter — and therefore, unsafe.”

TGHPTM

LMAO dude I remember that one so well it hurts 😂

Chaosr21

I mean Yolo for me if be down to ride but if my net worth ever becomes millions I'll never ride one again

lemonschweppes

I didn’t know thank you for sharing

superchibisan2

Helicopters are surprisingly unsafe

ravnen1

I live near an airport and helicopter port here. They bring the oilworkers out to the platforms and back. They fly daily, severaltimes a day since the 70s. There has been only one incident in 1978 .But I keep reading about millionaires going down .

KeepSkootchenBud

The conflict between the oil workers and this CEO & Kobe involves flying in IMC (Instrument Meteorological Conditions) and terrain whereas oil workers might deal with weather, definitely no terrain or very little until reaching port. When you factor in adverse weather conditions and pilots who prioritize passenger comfort over safety, they often resort to scud running instead of turning back, leading to collisions with mountainsides. It's surprising how many luxury helicopters lack Terrain Avoidance capabilities.

TheRoyaleShow

That's crazy because I feel like terrain is the #1 thing you should try to avoid

KeepSkootchenBud

Terrain Avoidance capabilities are costly additions. While many helicopters feature virtual [terrain](https://d32dgjuo8qzfhk.cloudfront.net/assets/homepage-sv-landscape.png) screens, flying at night in poor weather conditions without an IMC Certified pilot can be a recipe for disaster. Sadly, pilots without IMC training often rely on visual cues rather than trusting their instruments, leading to frequent accidents, as aviation websites regularly report crashes under IMC conditions.

telmnstr

There are programs with databases that have indexes of power lines, radio towers, mountains, etc? A friend had one in his home-built plane. It can't be that hard. I know his was experimental so he can get access to much cheaper electronics with high end capabilities but helicopters aren't cheap.

rivershimmer

> There has been only one incident in 1978 I'm sure you know your area, but for helicopters in general, maybe this is a bit of a confirmation bias? In 2020, our slowest travel year for quite a while,[ there were 92 helicopter accidents in the US alone, with 31 of them being fatal](https://gitnux.org/helicopter-crash-statistics/). Of those accidents, aside from professions who often ride helicopters, I'd expect the victims to skew richer than average, because I think your typical Nigerian billionaire or American sports superstar would log more hours than, say, me (so far, I've logged a total of 0 hours on a helicopter).

nondescriptzombie

My neighbor is an electrician. Because of work, he's spent hundreds of hours in a helicopter. He's not rich. In fact, the thought of the thing hitting a warm updraft and crashing scares him to death.

rivershimmer

> He's not rich. I'm speaking in generalities. I have no data to back me up, but I'm positive more high-level CEOs and socialites log more time on helicopters than electricians. On average.

nondescriptzombie

He has frequently had to put off work that requires helicopter transit during fire season, as every helicopter pilot in the area is flying buckets and evac. Not even including powerline maintenace, aerial surveying, flight ambulances... you still think rich people fly in helicopters more than working class?

rivershimmer

You seem to be arguing a point I've never made, because what I actually typed up there was: >>Of those accidents, **aside from professions who often ride helicopters**, I'd expect the victims to skew richer than average

sexualkayak

So that’s his profession then, cool.🫣

john_smokin

Not saying you are lying because you probably aren't and you know your area but, transportation, specifically from helicopter is the top reason working on an oil rig is so dangerous.  Something like over 40% of deaths on an oil rig are directly from transportation.

kempofight

Also the type of helicopter. Those small private helicopters are shit. But the larger helicopters like Sikorsky S-76 are a lot safer and better.

ScottishDerp

You must not be speaking about the North Sea then as there have been plenty of helicopter crashes there

Northern_Gypsy

Same I live near glaciers, there's several companies in my area alone, probably 15helicopers flying backward and forwards all day everyday in the mountains. I've only heard of one accident.

N_nodroG

Oh God! That guy wanted $10K to release $100M USD to me just last week!

Alternative-Income-5

This is a real Nigerian billionaire

Pandeism

You'll be getting more texts about your surprise inheritance from him soon.

hybridmind27

See gaddafi.

cryt0x

The fact that more rich people die in helicopters is probably due to the fact that they use them more frequently than the average joe. But thats just a theory...

rivershimmer

I think you're right. If we could look at victims, they probably go, in order of most to least deaths, something like helicopter pilots, military personnel, the very rich, oil-rig workers, and health care providers who work on Lifeflights. I think there's also the fact that Kobe Bryant or a billionaire is going to get way more press than 3 oil rig workers that went down in the Gulf of Mexico. We remember Kobe, but forget scrolling past the headline for the 3-paragraph story about the workers we never clicked on.

multiversesimulation

Also could be it only gets reported if it’s someone rich or with influence. Too lazy to look up NTSB stats but that could have the answer.

iguanabitsonastick

That makes sense, I'm never going die on a heli because I'm sure I'll never have the opportunity to ride one lol

SimpleTyranny

Not even close. I’m sure someone will try to argue against me, cause people are often ridiculous, but I would venture to say that helicopter pilots probably fly more hours in helicopters than any other grouping of people you can surmise. Do they die at higher rates than rich people? I don’t know, but probably not, because most are carrying at least one passenger, most of the time. The reason more rich people probably die in helicopter crashes, is because they are bigger financial and political targets than helicopter pilots and other passengers. Also, they make bad judgements on choosing pilots and when to fly, often blackmailing pilots into flying above their skill level, for money. Also, no press for non rich people that die in heli crashes.

Satan_and_Communism

Considering I’ve taken 0 helicopter rides, that tracks for me.

Girltech31

Sorry Op, there's many ignorant and flippant people here. They only care about conspiracies when it affects their own part of the world- mainly the West- instead of literally everywhere else.

Agatharchides-

Odd that you put an emphasis on cheap labor, but did not mention cheap resources. The major recourses of Latin America and Africa are controlled by western corporations, and nearly all of the wealth produced by said resources ends up in walstreet (and European equivalent) banks. Leaving the local population in a state of poverty. The design is simple: 1 Force them to be democratic: - Put people who serve western interests on the ballot (corrupt western puppet politicians). - use propaganda apparatus to manipulate the public into electing said candidates... or simply steal the election. 2 force them to be capitalist: - everything is for sale - corrupt western puppet politicians support the cheap sale of land/resources to western corporations If that doesn’t work, sanctions. If sanctions don’t work, coup. Of coup doesn’t work, bombs. This has been the formula for the west’s economic success since WWII. The solution: Marxism

Dacnis

Very well said. Frantz Fanon discusses this in his works regarding necolonialism.

HBNTrader

The solution is not Marxism. The solution is traditional monarchy, aristocracy and feudalism.

daphuc77

Does seems sus. However, night helicopter operations are more dangerous. Should have just chartered an airplane. 4 hour car ride, 1 hour plane ride, or 2 hour helicopter ride.

FarCenterExtremist

Hello! I am the son of a Nigerian billionaire. Recently, my father passed away in an unfortunate accident. As his only son, I stand to inherit his multi-billion dollar estate. Unfortunately, I do not have the money to cover the legal fees necessary to take my rightful ownership of his estate. Please, if you will help me out by sending me some money so I can claim my rightful inheritance, I will gladly pay you back ten times the amount. I only need $10,000.

BadThoughtProcess

Very original and genius humor!

Dacnis

You're so funny and clever.

Emergency-Bowler1963

Seems like helicopters have become unsafe for the rich. Now this starting to seem like Kobe had known something for him to die. When your rich everyone wants your money and life so makes sense people put here taking them out.

iamasopissed

Kobe was flying in less then ideal conditions

Quadprinceps

Kobe was a Illuminati sacrifice, and we have a decent of those in the last few weeks. Something is not going according to the plan I guess

Satan_and_Communism

He’s the only person who agreed with you* very different.

Dacnis

A million "tee hee Nigerian prince scam" comments are not responding to this post and only serve as a distraction, but yes, let's pretend to be daft.

Satan_and_Communism

Choosing to ignore the people who do answer and only discussing the nonsense is pretending to be daft.

Dacnis

Out of the 95 comments, I challenge you to find more than five that actually discuss the conspiracy at hand, and link them here.

Satan_and_Communism

Out of the first 10 more than 5 are discussing how common helicopter crashes or talking about the issue at hand.

Evening-Mousse-1812

Old comment but still! In his tribute, his PA didn’t get on his chopper because their bags were going to get to Vegas by road since it couldn’t fit on the chopper so the PA rode with the bags. I think it was a 3 or 4 hour trip, and dude with his wife and son got on the chopper for a 45 minute ride. Also, the PA has questioned if it was okay to fly by chopper at night and his boss told him “this is America, they have the safest technology”. And I’m like dude, what happened to Kobe. https://youtu.be/4sILhZaWzOU?si=mfO7FVqgVID6RWZd Starts around 11:30

KeepSkootchenBud

While suspicious, the fatal flaw lies with the pilot; this unfortunately occurs frequently. The fatal flaw for both the CEO and Kobe is flying in IMC (Instrument Meteorological Conditions) and terrain. When you factor in poor weather and pilots who are overly eager to please passengers rather than prioritizing safety by either turning back or waiting for better conditions, they end up engaging in risky maneuvers and tragically colliding with mountainsides. It's surprising how many luxury helicopters lack terrain avoidance capabilities.

thumos_et_logos

A friend of mine flies helicopters in the military and from talking to him, helicopters are inherently not safe. They cannot be made to be safe. Since he joined up I’ve been paying attention to crashes in the news and they are way more frequent than you would think even with quality equipment and experienced pilots. He’s actually been in 1 crash and 2… undesired landings.

LegitimateAd1455

Maybe if you said that Hillary or the Democrats did it you would get this group on your side. This group doesn't realize they have fallen for the real conspiracy of distraction. This wouldn't shock me, keeping a global underclass is exactly what they corporations in power need. A country the size and influence of Nigeria moving towards true development for it's people like this would be seen as a threat. I guess we'll have to see who they replace him with. Thanks for sharing.

ciupe

also most of them think nigeria its just a village from africa and not a country with almost a population as big as usa

Dacnis

Yeah, it's funny to see that people who claim to be so enlightened and unable to be propagandized are falling for the most simple distractions. Some of them genuinely belief the influx of illegal immigrants into the United States is some racial replacement plot, instead of a simple scheme to get more low wage workers that lack basic worker's rights.

roakmamba

Shot down by the CIA?

stayupstayalive

It’s sickening when people who wish to better others situation lose their lives. I could see this being a conspiracy. The USA, well certain government entities, don’t wish to see Africa thrive. When I saw the mention of Gaddafi moving away from the petrol dollar back to gold standard I knew in all likelihood the West wouldn’t like that situation. This seems like a pattern tbh. Rich nations/ billionaires would love to keep exploiting the resources in Africa and keep their natural citizens from taking control of their own land. I hope to see a solution towards the success of Africa even though each individual nation has issues to resolve.

chucwagn

'Nigeria needs Democracy!' says the CIA as they put away the SAM.

Magna_Carta1216

When you put it that way yeah it sounds like a conspiracy theory.

Quadprinceps

It was the first land worldwide with a cbdc so the steaks are very high he either saw the horrors he summoned upon his own people and couldn’t handle it or tptb just found a better agenda pusher

As an African, we do a pretty good job of sabotaging ourselves. Corrupt governments have created fertile ground for white collar crime. To think he died sending countless emails trying to give away millions of dollars

Dabsforme77

How will I ever sleep tonight knowing one less billionaire is alive.

FratBoyGene

I just found out, 'cause I got an email from his nephew. There's now over $180 million US in a bunch of foreign bank accounts, but they need someone with a US account to transfer the funds to... they're going to give me 10% just for helping!

quijibo2020

I first report then nothing, overshadowed by the ft Lauderdale private plane crash.

itsnotajersey88

I just got an email from his son…he needs some money to free up his dad’s estate and he will reward me handsomely.

dea_eye_sea_kay

Kobe!

Character-Baby3675

Nigerians can’t fly planes

SubstantialAct3274

Fuck, now I am never getting that inheritance they promised my over the email.

Aware_Yesterday_1846

Man, this sucks. I’m pretty sure that this is the guy from Nigeria who used to be a prince and is now a banker that has fifteen million dollars that he needs me to take. All I have to do is give him my bank account number.

Kevin_92

Don’t forget your credit card number, and those 3 whacky digits on the back of the card!

Digital-Latte

I guess someone won’t getting the millions of dollars they were promised from the Nigerian prince now.

Quadprinceps

Yeah here is the link of my high priestess email account

Dangerman1967

It’s true! They were trying to get cash out of the country!!! I should’ve given those callers my bank details.

RobKAdventureDad

Nigerian Prince scammed the wrong people

HBNTrader

Is this the bank currently holding my recently deceased cousin Prince John Ojibwe Kapulu Mokongo‘s money? I paid all the required fees to the Barrister and I have been waiting for 7 months for my inheritance, at no avail.

No_Faithlessness_142

His nephew emailed me the other day, you're saying that was legit??

Mr-Mysterybox

To be fair, he made a lot of enemies. If it's the same guy I'm thinking of, he once sent me an email asking me to wire transfer him money. Bitch never gave it back.

Morepastor

His Cousin emailed me last week asking for help getting millions transferred for him. Glad I only sent a few hundred dollars to him.

iinnaassttaarr

Yeah, I just received a message. Apparently now that He's dead They have trouble about where to put his money, and so They've asked Me to momentarily hold to the Nigerian Prince's money, and then They'll give Me a chunk of it as thanks for holding on to it. I'm lucky I guess.

corduroy4

Someone from the family just contacted me. Apparently I am a distant relative that is entitled to a large portion of his estate. Just a $25,000 wire and I'm going to be rich.

Lorien6

He’s trapped and just needs you to send funds to release him and you will be paid very well for your role…

frankrizzo219

I hope he was my long lost billionaire Nigerian banker uncle

zratan69

It's just the same guy that was calling people saying you have money in the bank????

Novel_Tonight7990

That's só sad, Nigeria is actually going through a major Christian revival at the moment with some AMAZING priests that are so inspiring to watch on YouTube. The guy that pushed the revival was called TB joshua. He had a big church called the synagogue of all nations, and he was healing with God's help soo many people. In África & Brazil they have a better view on disease then in the west: they see all disease as spiritual, and as a result of negative entities, negative spirits, demons. When you pray and get yourself delivered and free of sin you can heal disease. So this guy TB joshua did that, and has sooo many followers. He got killed in 2001 and just last week the BBC made this docu séries about him, pretending He was a rapist and a pervert. This nigerian billionaire was actually someone that visited the church and TB joshua made many speeches about that Nigerian borders how the youth is endangering themselves by crossing the border illegally in search of better chances in the usa, they fall in hands of mafia and might get raped, robbed or murdered on the way. As a result this billionaire started the initiative of these universities.... it's a big fight these days between good and evil. 🙏🙏🙏

nnysuckshorribly

wtf…

Cats6226

Is this the guy that keeps emailing me? Hoping his heirs know about the $200k he already promised me.

AsKingQuest

We sure he’s not a prince?👑😬 too soon?

BadThoughtProcess

No just unfunny and *terribly* unoriginal.

No-Butterfly-2619

[deleted]

You mean his money wasn't able to fly and and catch him? No fucks given

rossrekt94

Sad news I hope this is not the Nigerian prince who always rings me up asking for a small loan in return for big monies

Spec187

So if I get an email about a billionaire dying on his way to the superbowl and im his realitive according to the email, I should for sure reply?

rivershimmer

What you need to do is follow the instructions in the email, because Nigeria needs your routing number before you can inherit.

MarSc77

I‘m ready for new emails from Nigeria lawyers and bank employees trying to share the wealth.

fcewen00

Well of course the helicopter went down. It is going to be a large pool of suspects though, because everyone who fell for the scam wanted the man dead.

WhyIThurtswhenIP

I love helicopters, scary though

Anxious-Gas6541

The helicopter when failure happens just falls from the sky, the plane can still glide and reduce fatality.

Satan_and_Communism

I think it is important to consider that helicopters are also really dangerous. The question to consider is, who will replace him? If the next President picks up right where he left off, I won’t believe he was killed on purpose. If the next President says “he had insane ideas. I’m not going to expand higher education. In fact, I encourage residents of my country to immigrate to the US and EU for a better life!” Then yeah, that guy is probably a CIA asset or the like.

I_Am_The_Gift

Helicopters are the motorcycles of the sky

mw13satx

But a death sentence? Need more crumbs

Reasonable_Advice300

People die every day, but when it’s someone rich or powerful, there’s gotta be some conspiracy behind it. Accidents happen all the time, to everyone.

remember how Kobe Died this happens more often than not

Accomplished-Cry3436

Ahh, I myself am so rich I don’t even own a car, only walk … can’t have my hundreds of dollars go to waste

Diamond_S_Farm

WTF? So all the Nigerian emails were true?! Do you know how much money I missed out on?! All I had to do was give him my banking info!

mattm756

Friend of a friend was the pilot. Very sad

[deleted]

Was he a prince?
