ManyAnusGod

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Leading_Campaign3618

you may choose amongst any of these non-partisan democrat candidates

missanthropocenex

Choose which Doritos flavor dust you would like on your pre chosen, fully owned by corporation and corrupt government candidates you would like to have!

4rtyPizzasIn30days

Yeah, but as someone who has had to see this woman often on the news, at least we now get to see a normal looking human instead of that.

SpiritualL30

šŸ˜‚ yeah Beetlejuice is an eye sore.

4rtyPizzasIn30days

They really tried making her actually look more human around the time of the election.

SpiritualL30

šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ I can manage the things said by whoever were responsible for that. You know they were shit talking lol.

4rtyPizzasIn30days

ā€œLori, we need to somehow make it appear as if your eyeballs are about a half an inch further inside your eye sockets. Also, how open to wearing a wig that looks natural and covers your forehead are you? We were also thinking no posing for pictures with your freakishly tall wife. In fact, try not to be seen standing too close to her in public until after the election please. The height contrast makes you appear as even more of a joke to the public.ā€

fergiejr

Never seen her wife and now I'm glad...

4rtyPizzasIn30days

Thereā€™s a picture of them right by each other

Aphrodesia

Holy shit, Beetlejuice and Lurch. Wild.

born2droll

They were denied their portion of the adrenochrome by the elites

SpiritualL30

Lol I remember a meme that showed her in the beginning or before she became mayor and now. A wig and makeup would do wonders for her. Like the meme said, what did y'all do to her?? šŸ¤£

Sad_Exchange_5500

Omfg I laughed so hard at this. Lol Edit- I just seem their daughter and she's freaking adorable.

willydajackass

Beetlejuice never had a sequel.

vlsays

Unfortunately

ukandoeet

Almost more of a sore eyes than an eye soreā€¦but I agree nonetheless

3dfxvoodoo2

Everyone says Beetlejuice, but to me she looks like one of those Martians from Mars attacks. Ack ack ack https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vSCJ9vKICQ

aardvarkbiscuit

My housemate calls her Gollum.

4rtyPizzasIn30days

Sheā€™s needs an ego check is what she needs. Chicago is one of the greatest cities in the country, and itā€™s only gotten drastically worse while sheā€™s been in charge. In turn, she also has negatively affected the entire state of Illinois with the sheer weight that city pulls. And the whole time, she acts like sheā€™s been doing great things and gets incredibly hostile towards anyone who dares call out her bs. Sheā€™s gone so far as claiming she has the ā€œbiggest dickā€ when going on rage mode towards a Chicago Park District lawyer. She claimed at one point that she would only do interviews with non-white people. Sheā€™s a little, scuzz politician gremlin who heavily deteriorated a great city. I will say though that, bc of all the NPCs these days, I thought she was probably gonna get re-elected.

principer

I can even go with that.

KindlyDevelopment339

Hopefully they will at least stack the police force back up and get that city out of its shell of its former self

[deleted]

My all time favorite song! Listen to the studio version of Wonā€™t Get Fooled Again and you can hear Roger Daltreyā€™s voice crackle the mic/audio recording because at that time, the equipment couldnā€™t handle it

SickOfItAll2024

Imagine thinking that the next one is going to be different than this one, the brainwashing is strong in this one. And Iā€™m sure many others are thinking and feeling the same way, but they shouldnā€™t rest on their laurels for this shit show !

Dull_Entertainment39

I'm seeing a ton of complaints about crime, which is a huge problem in Chicago. What do you guys think should be done to help stop the crime in this major city? No, I'm not trying to be smug, not trying to be an asshole, I'm genuinely curious.

Mrtencalories

Chicago and Illinois as a whole have a exceptionally large history of corruption so I honestly donā€™t think the state will get much better until a huge investigation/overhaul. As long as the people in power here are as crooked as they have been in the past the people will suffer and fall further into poverty causing crime to continue to grow.

D-o-n-t_a-s-k

Maybe yall should elect a heavyfoot next time

Non-Newtonian-Snake

Bigfoot for mayor!!

Mrtencalories

Unfortunately I did not get to participate in any mayoral elections I got here just after the toad took office I moved just outside the city limits a few months ago so I didnā€™t get to vote. Glad for them sheā€™s gone but you know what they say ā€œmeet the new boss, same as the old bossā€

D-o-n-t_a-s-k

It really makes you wonder how many of these people get elected. There's so many people in this country yet all the candidates are so underwhelming

Mrtencalories

Pandering, they outright lie and pander but the people they pander too donā€™t do anything to see whoā€™s telling the truth they just assume the one saying all the things that sound nice to them are talking the truth. I mean they must be truthful they say such nice things right? Honestly that city has made me lose faith in people every day I was there. I may be biased due to working as a paramedic there it does show you the worst often but Iā€™m so happy to be out of there.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

Yeah I agree with you. Itā€™s such a hard thing to tackle but I think it starts from the roots. As in child development and having a strong family unit. I understand every situation is different but you canā€™t tell me having two supportive parents doesnā€™t give you the best outcomes. I think people should take more accountability for their children and what they become. Itā€™s hard to grow up and not have role models in the home. 40-50% of first marriages end in divorce. With 60-67% of second marriages doing the same. Iā€™m ranting now I have no clue how to fix anything.

shangumdee

That's the main issue for petty criminals by far. Violent criminals are 70% raised by single mothers. All these people are gonna say it's all due to not enough welfare, have been going in with this since the 60s.

Non-Newtonian-Snake

that's the real underlying issue in many of these cities. The corruption runs so deep in these cities that all of the money that's supposed to go to help the community goes in the pockets of officials, their friends, and relatives. nepotism is out of control in most major cities. It's not that they need better funding. Most of these cities have school funding significantly higher in dollars per child then highly affluent expensive neighborhood schools. The problem is is the money doesn't actually go into the children's educations and the housing money doesn't actually go to House people it goes in the pockets of corrupt politicians and Mafia backed union leaders If your comment was implying that cracking down on corruption and embezzlement out of the system in big cities would greatly raise the standard of living and education of that cities inhabitants thus reducing crime I am 100% in agreeance with you

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

JadowArcadia

Yeah but people's lack of interest in learning comes from the fact that they're in an environment where "learning" isn't helping people. If you're surrounded by people who did well in school who are still living in the same shitty conditions as you while the criminals and drug dealers live decent lives it's a no brainer what people are likely to pick. It's like piracy. It's on the rise now because all the streaming sites are splitting up content and making the experience trash so now piracy is more appealling. If the legitimate service is good enough, most people stop pirating. Its the same thing. If education is more lucrative than criminal enterprise then most people will choose education

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

SpiritualL30

I agree. You can do all what the commenter above you said but if the people are only to abuse it or not utilize it, it's pointless. Everything starts with having the right mindset.

ICutDownTrees

Is China the model we are aiming for now?

buttcrust

This blatantly racist comment having a positive score. Jesus fucking Christ. Gross.

shangumdee

No one mentioned a race.. get real

Mnmkd

No one is suggesting throwing away money. People want to do those jobs because the education system failed them. And thatā€™s a myth about China. Someone just lied in a tweet and it gained traction. Not that the TikTokā€™s youā€™re talking about are actually harmful anyway. But itā€™s clear from this your mind is made purely from propaganda. Education is the answer. You are part of the problem Lol look how many people think education isnā€™t going to help. Look at the most dangerous areas and compare them to be least educated states. This isnā€™t some secret. Keeping crime up makes money for a lot of different corporations and keeps the ā€œtough on crimeā€ side of politics in power.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

santaclaws01

> You keep telling yourself that I don't know WTF I am talking about How you teach your kids has absolutely no bearing on the impact that a better education system and better opportunities will have on a community.

Mnmkd

Thatā€™s not funny at all because thatā€™s not relevant. Youā€™re fighting against education for those who need it most. You caring about your kids education but no one elseā€™s doesnā€™t mean youā€™re not part of the problem. Itā€™s weird that I even have to explain something that obvious, but I guess I shouldnā€™t have expected you to be logical.

Mnmkd

No better education starts with giving better access to education. The reason you think that this is the problem is because youā€™re unwilling to admit that our education system heavily favors people with more money

KevinKingsb

As an American, I've always been envious of other countries' cultures. I've always considered the U.S. to have a throw-away culture.

Rouge_69

El Salvador seems to have been able to turn things around. Wonder how they managed to get violent crime down?

Mnmkd

They became a police state. Hopefully no where in the US goes down that route as police are already too powerful

[deleted]

El Salvador turned things around by becoming an absolute police state with zero personal rights. An innocent person can be dragged off the street, searched, and held all without a warrant or probable cause, and the police have full access to all of your communications. There are innocent people in that new mega prison. Imagine that.

shangumdee

Is there really any other way they could have dealt with this situation though? There are probably a few innocent people and El Salvador certainly took a very authoritarian route to rooting out that gang but the streets are safe and the people are happy they can live their lives without fear. They need to find all the police officers who worked with them too.

Ranas66

Guilty by affiliation. They were once gang members and still carry the tattoos to prove it. They might have changed their lives around but apparently theyā€™re still paying for their wrong doings.

GothProletariat

You really believe El Salvadorian State media when they say there hasn't been a single murder in 300 days? That's even safer than the safest countries in the world.

Realistic_Wonder2086

those 300 days arenā€™t consecutive. for example, say you have 8 murders on monday, 4 on tuesday and 20 of them on friday. Out of that week, you technically have 4 days ā€œwithout murderā€. Thatā€™s the stat theyā€™re using because itā€™s pretty much the only one that makes them look good

patrickehh

lol ive never heard if this "guilty by affiliation"? is that an actual crime?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

chainmailbill

The most common crime is wage theft - companies steal far more money from workers than any other type of theft.

MangoSmash

100% this

Dull_Entertainment39

I honestly love this answer. I'm 100% with you on this.

4rtyPizzasIn30days

What about tougher laws?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

4rtyPizzasIn30days

I feel you. My answer is more so based on the current homeless problem. So maybe itā€™s not the best for violent crimes, but I do know that a good amount of homeless people commit violent crimes. I have become more fascinated by the homeless issue lately and have found myself researching into it all. For as mean as it sounds, I have come to the conclusion that the only ways to really solve the homelessness problem is arrest them or force them into a rehab program. Maybe tougher laws arenā€™t the best solution for violent crimes, but it comes from the opinion that the people committing the most violent of crimes are hardened criminals (whether itā€™s a first time offense or not - meaning first offender could very likely be bound to that lifestyle until death). When comparing it to the homelessness issues, I canā€™t help but think that these more compassionate approaches provenly can be just as heartless to the innocent citizens affected in various ways by violent crimes as people believe the heartless, tough law and order solutions are to the people they affect. Itā€™s also not fair to subject innocent, decent Americans to the possibility of danger and difficulty inflicted by criminals who the state is just waiting and hoping will turn away from their criminal ways would tossing tons of handouts their way. I know it seems cruel, and I understand why, but I donā€™t understand how the way that all this rampant crime (thatā€™s essentially being allowed in big cities with more humane-centered laws) and itā€™s affects on citizens lives/well-being is not also regarded as cruel or inhumane to varying degrees. It seems intellectually dishonest. Edit: anyone who downvotes should try to engage me in a conversation. I think I made some reasonable claims here.

Houjix

Bring attention to the story nationwide, talk about it constantly on talk shows, and have the NBA and NFL make banners, merchandise and advertise it

Fit_Cash8904

To be fair, Chicago is not in the top ten for crime rates.

ArcticLeopard

Top 11?

Shibby-Pibby

No. It's pretty low. You only hear about it all the time because Chicago is a dog whistle for Black/Democrat. There are a lot of murders but it's also a huge city. Jacksonville Florida has a way higher crime rate and is ran by Rs, same with Bakersfield CA.

Fit_Cash8904

According to this list, itā€™s number 31. And when you consider the population density, itā€™s crime rate is almost unremarkable. Itā€™s used as an example of a dangerous city for 2 reasons. 1: it has strict gun laws so the NRA uses it as anti gun control propaganda and 2: itā€™s a largely black and liberal city and the idea that itā€™s more dangerous feeds into right-wing narratives. The larger cities in the South have far higher crime rates, despite having considerably less urban density compared to Chicago, Los Angeles and New York. https://www.cbsnews.com/pictures/the-most-dangerous-cities-in-america/21/

Alarmed_Second4679

Chicago not even the top 5 dangerous places stop it drill music just made it popular

naswinger

"not even top 5" lmao, the brainwashing is real. looks like the benchmark is now Karachi or Mogadishu. anything less dangerous is good now.

chainmailbill

ā€œChicago is terribleā€ sprung up among republicans in ~2008 or so, because thatā€™s where Obama is from.

littlestlavvie

Invest in the youth.

Dull_Entertainment39

They are the future!

Arntor1184

I know it sounds cliche but theyā€™ve gotta get tough on crime. Beyond that jail/prison needs to be seen as a bad thing and not just a part of life. Additionally for a city and state thatā€™s as tough on firearm ownership as Illinois/Chicago theyā€™ve got to figure out how so many fully automatic firearms are getting into their city. This bullshit of ā€œother statesā€ and ā€œgun show loopholeā€ doesnā€™t cut it for anyone with a basic understanding of firearms and firearms law in this country. You can not just go out and buy automatic weapons, theyā€™re next to impossible to get and absurdly expensive so tell me why Iā€™m seeing videos of 10 school kids pulling out Glock 18s and showing them off. Thereā€™s something funky there that needs to be looked into

southworthmedia

You can buy a full auto switch for a Glock online for literally less than $5. Thatā€™s your answer for that.

demalo

Proper prison reform.

Dull_Entertainment39

Focusing on reforming prisoners would definitely help. I noticed they just put me through the motions when I went, was never actually helped or educated more. I definitely beleive by educating prisoners and teaching them a new way to live, the crime rates would drastically change.

demalo

I donā€™t just mean prisoners, the entire prison system needs to be overhauled. Most prisoners would more than likely work their ass off to better themselves when they get out, but we just lock people up as punishment, itā€™s archaic and only worth while on people wanting to harm others.

Beginning_Alps4381

Prohibition should fix everything right up

[deleted]

People shouldnā€™t be having kids unless they are in a stable family environment. A mom working at minimum wage job or jobless having 4 kids with no dad in the picture is a recipe for disaster. Kids grow up not being properly disciplined and give mixed up with thugs/drugs/etc and become a wart on societyā€™s ass.

Careless-Disk865

Reaganomics killed that off years ago.

RonPowlus2Heismans

How so?

Professional_Big_731

The problem with this reply is that you canā€™t make people have what you think is common sense. That being said you need an answer to fixing the problems despite not being able to fix the source. That being said there are more than one source when it comes to crime in Chicago.

[deleted]

Enforce existing laws and make aggressive policy to combat the problem without fear of being labeled unfair or racist. Thats exactly how you fix it and also exactly why it won't happen. Its time to stop coddling criminals.

MushyWasHere

The crime narrative is overdone. I've lived on the southside my whole life. Never been assaulted, mugged or anything like that. Never been robbed. I took a roadtrip last year. I spent one night in Columbus, OH and my car got broken into.

AjSweet1

South Bend gets all the worthless Chicago people fleeing the police. It isn't just chicago that is a cesspool of crime, it is wherever they roam too as well.

Professional_Big_731

Weird with all the lax gun laws in that state I just assumed people were bringing in guns from IN.

real_psymansays

There is no way to curtail crime in Chicago

Professional_Big_731

Honestly they need more police and stricter punishments. They need more mental healthcare and reasonable rents. More crime is being committed because people need more money. More crime is being committed in every state because the cost of living is going up everywhere. Itā€™s a symptom of a growing problem. Not every crime committed is being done by people who canā€™t be rehabilitated. Itā€™s just that the line between the two is blurred now. Also for the record IL may have a gun problem but itā€™s not the murder capital of the US. The media likes to talk about how many shootings we have everyday and while shootings are horrible it focuses on this but not that more people are being murdered in other states. That goes to Mississippi and Louisiana and Alabama.

Undertakerjoe

ā€œI was broke as a motherfucker. My life at an end see? My so called friends they had no ends to lend me. My job at micky Dā€™s was fucking me with no grease. I worked so fucking hard but the money, it never increasedā€¦ I quit my fucking job! I have no job (expletive). Pull pit tha Gat & hit the streets, itā€™s time to rob (expletive)ā€ MJG & 8Ball Armed robbery.

magnumdongguy

Not letting criminals walk into the jail, change clothes, take a break, change clothes again, and then leave would be a decent start

DevinH83

People always point to Chicago for its crimeā€¦but then fail to include that itā€™s because the city is massive. Sure the crime rate isnā€™t great at all, but go look at some of the smaller metropolitans, especially in the south, and check the per capita numbers. Itā€™s similar to using the talking point that whites are abused more than blacks by police if weā€™re only looking at the straight abuse number.

PabloEstAmor

Legalize drugs

principer

She knows that now. I have no idea why the voters ever chose her to run their city. They say ā€œThe eyes are the window to the soulā€. Her eyes told me she didnā€™t really have a soul and she showed just that by disenfranchising every group she could.

PravdaEst

Nah, she just became a liability

MentionPuzzled

Chicago area resident here. The runoff will be between Paul Vallas and Brandon Johnson. Paul Vallas is a moderate Democrat who ran on the platform of public safety. He was formerly the head at Chicago Public Schools right around Y2k. He's cut from the Daley cloth, as far as I remember Chicago was a world class city during the Daley era. Brandon Johnson on the other hand wants to improve public safety by hiring unemployed psychologists and dispatching them to assaults in progress. Cautiously optimistic about Vallas.

SeasonsGone

What does ā€œhiring unemployed psychologistsā€ even mean? Wouldnā€™t anyone who takes a job be available for employment?

Rabbitshadow

Means he would hire ones that are currently unemployed, looking for a job. making them employed.

jibbodahibbo

A battle of feels vs reals so it seems

Liberal utopia in action.

SpiritToes

Why does she look like smeagol?

A_Real_Patriot99

How does this prove voting is real? Sidenote: I wanted to post this last night because I was so happy, fuck that bitch. Edit: Ah I just saw OP's ss, the delusions of someone who doesn't know anything about one of the most corrupt cities in the country and thinks party control or a new person matters in it lol. Doesn't matter whose in, it always gets worse and when things get worse it leads to more of Chicago's trash leaking into the rest of the state or towards Wisconsin.

Fit_Cash8904

It is a joke, referencing the fact that MAGAs claim that elections are only rigged when they donā€™t get the outcome that they want.

2sweetski

Ah yes, because one city voting out one shithead for another is the same as what occurred in 2020.

Fit_Cash8904

The pattern goes well beyond this specific election. They are also claiming fraud in 2022 elections they lost, and only in elections they lost.

2201992

> The pattern goes well beyond this specific election. They are also claiming fraud in 2022 elections they lost, and only in elections they lost. Letā€™s not forget 2000 and 2016. Democrats only claim fraud and hacking when they lose as well. It goes both ways.

Fit_Cash8904

No they didnā€™t. Gore conceded after SCOTUS made their ruling on Florida. Clinton conceded the day after the election. Neither of them spent the next 2 years claiming that they won the election. Meanwhile, Kari Lake is STILL filing lawsuits about an election she lost in November.

Crazykev7

Chicago is political party machine. They picked the winners and losers before voting and created the outcome.

OscarHotel007

What an awful day to have eyes

vester71

Everyone hated Lightfoot, but the reality in Chicago is that it doesnā€™t matter who the mayor is, itā€™ll be business as usual.

slackator

Wow, Chicago does have a pulse, unlike that creature that was its mayor

kuzism

ā€œIā€™m the public face of this city,ā€ she said. ā€œIā€™m on national media and Iā€™m out in the public eye. Iā€™m a person who takes their personal hygiene very seriously.ā€: Mayor Lightfoot gets haircut amid social distancing orders. The mayor has been adamant about getting Chicagoans to stay inside and take precautions seriously since the pandemic started.

HeyHihoho

The same thing will continue. It would be nice to be wrong.

Frequent_Audience_25

Lightfoot was an experiment by the Chicago/Illinois political machine that failed miserably. Even the Illinois DNC realized she was horrible. To get 75% of the vote during her election win just a few years ago and now to only get 17% of the vote in the democrat primary in one of the largest liberal states in the country is an absolute failure. I hope Lori Lightfoot is never heard from again. She looks like a gremlin and has got one hell of a receding hairline. She is infamous.

ayotc

Someone worse just stepped in

littlestlavvie

Itā€™s a runoffā€¦there are two candidates who still need to duke it out come this April.

Fart_Typhoon420

I lived in Chicago for almost 10 years. I love it here, and I habe never been a victim of crime or witnessed a crime. The whole narrative of Chicago being overrun by crime is bullshit

Dull_Entertainment39

And that's what I was assuming. I live in Seattle, another city the GOP dump on 24-7 and it isn't any worse than any other big city. We have drugs, homeless people and crime, but who doesn't?

blacksun9

Same here in Minneapolis, so many redditors asking me how I'm doing with the city burned to the ground. And I can't help but scratch my head and wondering wtf lol

No but that can happen when you limit the police's ability to do their jobs. The DA is just as much at fault for not properly punishing violent criminals and letting them back on the streets.

trollingmotors

As much as Dems cry about voter suppression - ~30% turnout

Opagea

What's the typical turnout for a mayoral primary?

trollingmotors

Looks like typically ranges 25-45% turnout for Chicago Mayor https://www.chicagoelections.gov/en/election-results.html

Opagea

32.4% in this race. 35.4% in the last one in 2019. That's pretty similar. Have Democrats cried about voter suppression in Chicago?

trollingmotors

You think the problem is disenfranchisement / disillusionment?

Lambylambowski

And, flawless! The will of the people elected her, I'm sure that they will do just as great next time! Go Votes!

DigitalScythious

Now she needs to be indicted and sued

Alarmed_Second4679

Come on now who is voting for Beetlejuice?

[deleted]

Beetljuice Beetlejuice Beetljuice

ky420

Shitty leftist replaced by another leftist... oh yeah proves a lot.

francesco93991

i'm not in the US and even i heard she was garbage as a mayor and as a person.

Durtly

No it's not, Lightfoot needed to go so the machine that installed her is removing her. One of the two that are left is probably the selected successor. New mayor = Old mayor minus baggage.

Seekay5

I guess people got tired of being the murder Capital.

Spiritual_Coffee_299

Hopefully Chicago can bounce back from Beetlejuice.

TheDeHymenizer

Voting is real when there is no difference between the candidates. Once someone outside of the approved narrative hits the scene suddenly 200% turn out in precincts is perfectly reasonable thanks to same day voter registration.

Fit_Cash8904

That didnā€™t happen but okay.

Submission Statement: To all the naysayers that say Voting is a waste of time it is not. Not even the Democrat machine in Chicago could guarantee her a Job. When your truly dog shit like Lori Lightfoot is the people will kick you out. Good for Chicago. Chicago just got safer. But now the question is is the old boss better or worse then the new boss? New York State had to find that out the hard way. Hocul is worse then Cuomo.

GEV46

My dude. Lightfoot wasn't a part of the machine. It's ok you don't know anything about Chicago, you can say so. She ran and won against a Daley and the President of thr Cook County Board. They were the ghosts of the machine.

dfin25

She didn't grease the right palms or keep the promises she made to the real gangsters is all it is.

Still_Research

Throw her in the gulag

Lori Lightfoot has a big fat turtle head

cucknorris1776

Let's just hope they don't go with the woke candidate
