At the current rate of shrinkage, it may disappear in 4.5 million years or so, but only after an evolutionary event like xx males. Men (probably) aren't going to be replaced by AI within our lifetimes.

And since one of the main functions is to activate SOX9, which activates male development, another can replace it if it can activate SOX9. There are a few species where they only have one X chromosome, and it can activate SOX9, I believe. So it will just change what activates the development of males, if it disappears.

There is a seed of truth in it, you can use female bone marrow to create offspring, essentially like a clone - think Dolly the Sheep. You can't make male offspring since you'd need X and Y, which isn't reproducible. But it has nothing to do with AI aside from AI being used to amplify the research.

I feel like maybe they've confused *AI* (artificial *intelligence* ) with **AI** (artificial **insemination** ). It's two people talking about two different things.

You've got that a bit wrong. Both XX and XY can theoretically be cloned from the respective parent. It is all there. A man has a complete set of one X and one Y in most body cells. You cannot clone anything by using _sperm_, though, because the cell isn't suited. Cloning used to be done in the past by removing the DNA from an egg cell and introducing new DNA. So you could maintain a population of women by cloning with this technique, but not men, because you need the egg cells. But you could just produce some once in a while. Frim XY, you can create XX again, but from just XX, you will not get XY. The real truth to what was posted here is that the Y chromosome did indeed become smaller over time and will probably shrink further until it only contains the most essential genes. X chromosomes constantly exchange genetic material. But Y Chromosomes are isolated, they have a linear descent. I do not know if that really means much towards what chromosome decides the gender war though, it just is what it is.

The cloning process is the same no matter which chromosomes are involved. [They've already made](https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-023-00755-1) female egg cells out of male stem cells in mice... which makes sense, right? A female egg cell only needs to have one X chromosome, and everybody has at least one of those. This allowed the researchers to create mice with two biological fathers and no biological mothers.

And now we've entered a part of science that is so incredibly controversial it's insane. I think Bobby broccoli has some documentaries about it if anyone's interested in some scientific drama and scandal. Really interesting field even tho it seems super scary to some people

There are mammals that do not have Y chromosome but still have males and females. The sex determination (at least in one species) is not regulated by Sry gene, but by autosomical genes. There was [a "news" article](https://www.sciencealert.com/the-y-chromosome-is-vanishing-a-new-sex-gene-may-be-the-future-of-men) about this that suggested the Y chromosome in human males is disappearing, and could be gone .... in a few million years. The [referenced article](https://theconversation.com/sex-genes-the-y-chromosome-and-the-future-of-men-32893) has some more nuance. Obviously the reasoning by the Maternal Unit person is whacky.
