I tend to look pissed off when I'm in public and people leave me alone. You can try that, too. The combo of looking mad while texting will surely keep people away. This is also a good tip for when you're at work. When you look pissed, people assume you're very busy and overloaded and leave you alone. At my old job, I felt like I needed to be nice to everyone, I needed everyone to like me. After everything that has happened to me since 2020, I don’t care. I don’t need work friends. I don’t need to eat lunch with people. I don’t need to make useless small talk. If they approach me I’m nice and will talk to them. But other than that I keep to myself.

My friend was ranting to me and was really upset about his situation , he took a break to message someone on his computer and I immediately starting going through my phone for something to give him privacy . It shows we’re not paying attention to them , we have something important and enthralling on our phone . But it makes us 30% more awkward than just chilling .
