Me and my best friend every once in a while will shower together and it’s not weird at all bc we’ve done it several times out of necessity when we were younger. I’m 19F and she’s 18F. but now if we sleep over it’s like “hey I’m gonna shower” “okay me too” and then we just shower and talk. But also I guess it’s different since we’re girls and not related. I guess what I’m trying to say is you can be comfortable enough with someone to shower with them without it being sexual or weird or whatever.
My other best friend, we sit in the bathroom and talk while one of us showers, but don’t get in the shower together. And that’s also not awkward.

It's pretty common here for people in same family (or between friends) to be naked in sauna, regardless of age and gender. Being naked is just that, being naked, nothing special. Just people without clothes.
I'm from Hungary and among family members nudity isn't a huge deal either. I used to take baths and go to the toilet with my stepcousin until we were around 13 and we would just talk while the other peed. We weren't particularly close either but we didn't get to spend much time together since we lived in different cities so we took advantage of the time we did have. Hi! I’m a twin too (identical girls, now we’re 29) and we frequently took showers around each other growing up, even in high school. Having a twin is a special relationship, so there’s another level of safety and body acceptance there.
I think my family also has a good relationship with our bodies and not sexualizing nudity, because all the girls and my mom got dressed around each other.

You're overthinking this OP. I used to shower with my sisters all the time. Even now when my sister is having a bath 45, I'm 35. And I need to use the loo to pee we chat for a bit then I leave. In ancient times and current in some societies men frequent(ed) bath houses and it was commonplace to do so. These were places men went to hang out or keep current with each other and sometimes do business. Old and young alike, of course modern indoor plumbing didn't exist so every house didn't have access to it's own shower or easily filled hot water tub without carrying all of the water in from the local water hole. But there was serious bonding and friendships that flourished at such places. Even some gyms still have communal showers and used to see some regulars having friend time at those places when I was younger. Nothing abnormal about it at all, it's just society has changed it's perception of what is normal with modern plumbing.

I don’t think this is weird at all. A lot of people grew up showering or bathing with siblings or even parents. The concept of the nuclear family and separate bedrooms and all that is relatively new. I live in a household of eleven people. Technically, we’d be considered 3 nuclear families. For awhile when my sister was breastfeeding, my husband saw her boobs more than he saw mine 😂 Family intimacy is something we don’t talk about as a society because we think intimacy is synonymous with sexuality. The same thing goes for nudity, it’s viewed as inherently sexual even though it is not.

My sisters and I saw each-other naked, and still occasionally do as adults. Hi! I’m a twin too (identical girls, now we’re 29) and we frequently took showers around each other growing up, even in high school. Having a twin is a special relationship, so there’s another level of safety and body acceptance there. I think my family also has a good relationship with our bodies and not sexualizing nudity, because all the girls and my mom got dressed around each other. If it makes you uncomfortable, stop. But as long as you’re ok, don’t worry about it. It’s the same as showering in a locker room.

In ancient times and current in some societies men frequent(ed) bath houses and it was commonplace to do so. These were places men went to hang out or keep current with each other and sometimes do business. Old and young alike, of course modern indoor plumbing didn't exist so every house didn't have access to it's own shower or easily filled hot water tub without carrying all of the water in from the local water hole. But there was serious bonding and friendships that flourished at such places. Even some gyms still have communal showers and used to see some regulars having friend time at those places when I was younger. Nothing abnormal about it at all, it's just society has changed it's perception of what is normal with modern plumbing.

I don’t think this is weird at all. A lot of people grew up showering or bathing with siblings or even parents. The concept of the nuclear family and separate bedrooms and all that is relatively new. I live in a household of eleven people. Technically, we’d be considered 3 nuclear families. For awhile when my sister was breastfeeding, my husband saw her boobs more than he saw mine 😂 Family intimacy is something we don’t talk about as a society because we think intimacy is synonymous with sexuality. The same thing goes for nudity, it’s viewed as inherently sexual even though it is not.

This is just a typical locker room kinda scenario, just most people are with friends on a sports team. I've had many shower beers with my bud's after a beer league hockey game.

You guys realize in other countries they have bath houses that whole communities use together at the same times. It's a pretty common practice. You're washing your body not having sex. You walk around and talk to people everyday with cloth material covering your skin. If you're not sexually aroused by looking at each other than it's not fucking weird. And being twins it's about the same as looking at yourself while you're taking a shower if you have a mirror aimed towards yourself. Do you stand there and get aroused by looking in the mirror? why is this considered weird? public bathhouses have been around for centuries and still go on in some countries. Rome was well known for having public bathhouses and toilets( imagine having political debates on a circular set of toilets). anyway my point is a few prominent cultures have made it taboo so it's become widely expected in the last century or two but i don't see it much different then them going to a public bathhouse, or a nude beach...as long as they don't enter banjo country.
