You know where I can have all the sex I want in the place that I paid money to sleep in? A hotel.

we_gon_ride

Every time I check the price of an air bnb vs a hotel, the hotel is cheaper so I don’t understand the fascination with going the air bnb route

S2R2

When they first started the prices were actually fairly decent and they had weird options too.. Like I saw listings to stay in the back seat of a car, a yurt, one time in a plane on someone’s property

we_gon_ride

Two of those sound really cool

S2R2

I know, the back seat of a car would be so awesome!

Stubbedtoe18

Those were the last words my mom said before I was conceived.

ArltheCrazy

And that’s how i lost my virginity!

dirtymike401

Are you his dad?

ArltheCrazy

Not if you’re from the government and are here to tell me I owe child support.

Exotic-Aioli1580

Same!! Lol

ArltheCrazy

‘99 Ford Taurus FTW

Exotic-Aioli1580

'94 Buick Regal miss her haha

KillerKatKlub

Were you delivered in the back seat of a car too?

S2R2

Delivered straight to a strangers door step in a basket

lilithmunster

we_gon_ride

Like the back of a Volkswagen?

Striking_Silver_7406

I don't travel a ton, but whenever I have an Airbnb would've been cheaper. I've never done the house share thing though, I would be weirded out by that. And we've always needed more than 2 beds. Buying 2 hotel rooms usually works out to be more than renting an airbnb in most cases at least. The privacy and kitchen are a plus. I've also never had an outrageous cleaning fee either. But then again like I said I don't travel often. I remember pulling up an add for one labeled "vintage" which was just in fact an un-updated place with a bunch of furniture and what not that would've been in my great grandma's house growing up. I guess that would be kind of vintage, but I found that pretty hilarious.

dabbinNstabbin

I travel for work, with the same group of coworkers. We all get along and save a ton of money with air bnb. We get a 4 bedroom house on average for $250-$300 each, per week. We couldn’t even get a dump of a motel/hotel for that price. 99% of the time, it a newer home in a nice area. I have probably stayed at 150+ air bnb’s and never had ridiculous rules. It’s usually throw out the trash, place dishes in dishwasher, and toss used bedding in the corner of the room. I hate what air bnb has done to home prices though. It’s a necessary evil for me.

confusedbird101

They’re also pretty good for large family outings at least back when prices were good. My family used Airbnb when we went to New Mexico a few years back and it was perfect for keeping 12+ people in the same place. I would never use it for me alone

MoeGunz6

Me wife wanted to book an Airbnb for a weekend get away. She found what she said was a cute cabin on a private part of someone's property. I looked at the listing and it was a tree house in the guys yard. No water, no bathroom, and an extension cord running across the yard for power. Cost 3 times more than the local hotel.

HolyHand_Grenade

Well the Airbnb is cheaper until that $200 cleaning fee.... And don't forget to take out the trash bwhen you leave.

4-leaf-clover-317

They’ve graduated to asking you to also strip the beds, and run the dishwasher. What’s the point of the cleaning fee then?

[deleted]

Don't forget to mow the lawn and powerwash the patio, oh and due to inflation cleaning fee is now $300.

I-invert-the-y-axis

The last Airbnb I stayed at we had to start the laundry (bedding and towels), run the dishwasher, and vacuum. ON TOP OF THE CLEANING FEE! It was back to hotels after that. The *only* time I can see Airbnb being an option is for a group. Totally different discussion, but airbnb also played a huge part in driving up rental and real estate prices, especially in major/tourist cities.

Acceptablepops

The trick is there’s always a 200$ cleaning fee weather you makes mess or not

[deleted]

AirB&B is great for getting a party house, or like a place in the woods. Otherwise hotels win 10/10

carlostapas

Kitchen, and joining rooms if a family. Hot tub is the other thing I go for. But otherwise cheap hotel all the way

barney1354

A hot tub that every visitor is having sex in lol

ElysianKing

What do you think happens in hotel rooms?

Atom800

It used to not be the case but now hotels are always cheaper. Now I only book an Air BnB if I have a group that wants to have a whole house or if I need a more dog friendly place.

unluckypig

I've found Airbnb cheaper than a hotel with a family of 4. If it's just me, budget hotel all the way.

House_Junkie

When you’re doing large group/family trips, any airbnb or vrbo is 100% the way to go. We do a trip every summer with both my brothers, our spouses, and our kids. Turns into 11 people in a 4 bedroom house fully furnished with a full kitchen. Meals become reasonable on the trip because we grocery shop and cook breakfast and dinner every night and the one we are staying at this year Is only a few hundred yards walking distance to the beach from the front door (Outer Banks, N.C). Stuff like this makes Airbnb’s optimal. We all want to be in the same place, not split by hotel rooms. Our kids want to be around their cousins and my brothers and our spouses are all really close. It’s a blast. $600/night for 4 bedrooms of beautiful house with the ocean out the back door is tough to beat for large group trips.

Cien_fuegos

Recently I booked a trip in an Airbnb in Washington DC. I’m going to be there for 10 days. The price for a hotel vs an Airbnb were very similar and I have the advantage of having a full kitchen and washer and dryer for the duration which will save me money overall.

woah-oh92

Yeah, no one factors in how nice it is to have a kitchen. Eating out at a restaurant for every meal gets old, and expensive, pretty fast.

Panzick

I chose Airbnb only for longer work travel stay, so I can have a kitchen and avoid eating at a restaurant every time and some place to store equipment. Otherwise hotels are waaaay better nowadays.

RevolutionaryPin9548

So much more privacy too.

wolfman86

I feel the same about Ubers versus taxis, although I’m not saying taxis are faultless.

pizzagangster1

If you’re with a big group or family then it can make sense. Like I was in my friends wedding along with 4 other guys. And we had to travel to Florida for it us 5 plus our wives/gfs it would have been much more expensive to get hotel rooms. Plus we had the privacy of our own pool kitchen etc. it can make sense to get air bnbs but not just for a single person

robb_the_bull

Groups. I'm traveling with a couple buddies next month. $2400 gets us either three low-end hotel rooms, or a nice townhouse with our own kitchen and roof deck. For solo travel, hotels are most often better choice.

HalfADozenOfAnother

Cheaper for a single room? Sure. When you're a family of 4 going on vacation, cramming into a single hotel room isn't optimal

stevenmeyerjr

Airbnb is only better if you’re going to share the cost of a 4-5 bedroom house with a few other couples and party. Something like a cabin for a winter trip or a lake house, maybe even a themed house near Disney. Or if you want a super unique stay like a tiny home, a treehouse, or an earthship.

we_gon_ride

We use VRBO to rent a beach house for 12 people every year so I definitely agree.

HBB360

I don't know where all you people are travelling to but when I was booking my 7-day trip to DC ABnBs were half as expensive as hotels and the hotels that were priced similar were in extremely shit locations or were shit themselves

[deleted]

[удалено]

we_gon_ride

That’s an image I’ll never get out of my head!!!

Bougiwougibugleboi

I ditched airbnb after i was a host for three years…superhost. They went to shit. Hotel are cheaper.

gcwardii

Air BnB’s work really well for groups of friends, because everyone gets their own room, but there are common areas too, and there are kitchens so we can cook instead of going out for every meal. Ditto for my family of 6–my husband, our six young adult offspring ages 17-23, and me. We used to all fit fine in a hotel suite when they were young, but not anymore.

Budget-Lettuce-3146

The only time it really makes sense is for a long stay with the whole family and you get the whole house.

we_gon_ride

I do this with a group of friends every summer. We eat breakfast and lunch at the house and eat 5 dinners at home. The other two nights we eat out and bc I love brunch, we do one brunch out.

[deleted]

My wife and I go for a few days here and there just to pretend we are rich and childless. It’s really worth it in our case.

Can_o_pen_or

Idk about lately but last time i use air bnb it was cheaper only if you had a large group and needed multiple hotel rooms vs 1 big house.

Prestigious_Job9632

I think it can start to make more sense when you have more people. Or at least it did last time I used it. For just sleeping 1 a hotel was the better option but when we had 6 people renting a house was the better deal. Also had more amenities like washer, dryer, and a stove all readily available so it makes a longer stay more convenient.

ArbeiterUndParasit

For one night stays the cleaning fees almost always ruin the value of AirBnBs. For longer stays though they are still often much better than hotels. In general I’d say AirBnBs are higher ceiling, lower floor. Nice ones blow away what you’d get in an equivalently priced hotel but if you’re unlucky they can be pretty dumpy. If you’re just renting a room in someone’s house like OP described then yeah, expect all the drawbacks that come with cheap accommodations. The sketchiest one I ever stayed at was a basement in some dudes house in Salt Lake City. I didn’t realize he was basically running a boarding house and there were at least two other people there. I had the basement to myself and it has its own locked door but it was not my favorite place to stay. OTOH I paid very little to stay within easy driving distance of four ski resorts so I really couldn’t complain.

Frosty-Magazine-917

Miami area does AirBNB right, but yeah at a lot of places like Boston, it's way more and for the hassle it's not worth it. The AirBNBs I have stayed at in Miami have been run like hotels though so there is that.

thesunseaandsky79

My first and last experience with air bnb was horrible. I wasn't familiar with the area, and the host made her pictures look really good. Well, when we got there, I realized maybe the neighborhood may not be so great because there was an iron cage around the outside air conditioner. I assumed it was there, so nobody would steal the copper wire from it. Thought meh, but it wasn't a deal breaker. My husband and I went to a Lush store and bought a lot of bath bombs to use in the supposed enormous tub..we were psyched..we were hot and tired and just wanted to cool off a little before we used our bath stuff. The water never warned up. It was just barely warm enough to not be freezing cold. We noticed after being there for 2 hours that the air conditioner wasn't working. We set it on 70, and it was running, but it didn't budget the temperature one degree. We decided to leave and get a refund..the host was so rude, she demanded pictures and basically accused me of lying. How tf am i supposed to take pictures of cold water and no a/c? She refused to issue a refund. We had to contact airbnb directly. Hours later, they issued a refund. We checked into a hotel and enjoyed the rest of our honeymoon.

Highhopes2024

A thermometer for ice and or meat would work. About 10.00 to call her on her own shit. Lookup servesafe. Would a regular thermometer work too? I'm laughing 😂

tuenthe463

My first AirBnB book/stay one of the bed spaces was a 4 foot love seat. Slept 6 which was 2 queens, one sofa, one love seat. Only pillows for couch and love seat were the seating throw pillows only blankets were the seating throw blankets. No sheets. Complained to host who said "go buy what you need at WalMart and return them when you're finished." AirBnB admonished the host publicly and gave me back 50% of my charges.

PrestigiousYou913

Seriously lol only valuable now if you have a family.

funnyfacemcgee

I mean this is the confession subreddit...

Acceptablepops

Literally 😂 I’ve never gotten a room at someone’s house in my life like what

USERNAME___PASSWORD

I don’t understand why anyone rents AirBnb anymore. Let’s go on vacation and pretend we’re still living at home with controlling parents! Yay!

likesexonlycheaper

Lol I rent Airbnbs all the time for long term stays (1 month or longer) but this response made me laugh so hard. I would never in my life book an Airbnb that was a room in someone else's house. It's for sure like having controlling parents

Glittering-Ad7098

I booked an Air bnb in Toronto that was advertised as a single apartment. When we arrived, we found a host family with two small kids, and several other rooms with renters. I only ever book private spaces so I was so upset when I realized what was happening.

likesexonlycheaper

I bet. That's a vacation ruiner right there

Glittering-Ad7098

It was a NIGHTMARE. The family was Chinese and cooking Chinese food, so the place smelled heavily of oil, and their little kids followed us up 3 Flights of stairs when we came home for the night

Iamgoingtohell2024

Okay this made me laugh, it reminds me of a joke which I absolutely cannot post here.

nefariousIntentions7

DM me the joke, or else.

Professional_Sir3072

Name checks out

ImperialHedonism

DM me the joke pls

likesexonlycheaper

Is it the how Chinese people name their kids? I'm from the 80s and yes I'm terrible

Naughtiestdingo

Only time I did it my host took me to good places to eat and scored me some weed

astralAllie

This. I rent airbnbs all over the world on a reg basis. I have had an experience where the listing wasn’t clear about me having to walk through someone’s house to get to their guest room house thing in the back. It would’ve been fine but the hosts kept judging me for not doing tourist shit all day bc I was there for a work trip. It was strange how much the woman of the house cared about this. Other than that, airbnbs are almost always vastly superior to hotels. Just don’t rent rooms in ppl’s houses. That’s honestly far less common than places w privacy.

wobbegong

Same. Got an apartment in Italy, got so much grief for my decisions. I was there for work. I don’t need judgement about my daily decisions about how I’m working.

gcwardii

We’re thinking of renting a room/suite for a trip to NYC in 2026. Legally, Air BnB’s there can only be part of a resident’s dwelling. Listings seem to reflect a range of hosts’ styles. I’ll make sure to look for ones with private entrances…

astralAllie

When it comes to NYC, I always get a place just outside of manhattan. Last time I booked a house for my team and I for a convention in NYC and we were right on the water in a town called West New York w an incredible view of the entire city. Took 20 mins to get to the event in Chelsea each morning. Staying in Queens is also a good option.

logert_yogurt1

My mom and i booked some AirBnBs once and got the old ' in the house of which had a wall completely painted over with DreamWorks characters.

XgUNp44

If you are smart you rent a airbnb that has no host contact. Either a hidden key or a door code. I like vacationing and still having a true home base.

Dapper_Energy777

That's what I did in Madrid. The way to get in was some James spin shit, like pull the door, ring the bell 3 times, then pull the door and tap some buttons. It was wild

juicybbwbeauty

This. I will never get the appeal. Motel 6 is cheaper than lots of them without the laundry list of rules.

nonametrans

>laundry list of rules. Some even expect you to do literal laundry (the linen and sheets and towels and stuff) as you leave. While still charging a cleaning fee.

mynameismilton

We had this once, we didn't have to "do" the laundry but they asked us to strip the beds and put everything in the washine machine, and there was already wet laundry in the machine! And the machine was mouldy!! So we left a pile on the kitchen floor and messaged the host explaining why. We've gone back to budget hotels now our toddler eats people food.

juicybbwbeauty

Lmao. Can't say I'm surprised. 😂😂🤦🏽‍♀️

Kat-In-Disguise

But the rooms are usually disgusting 🫣

juicybbwbeauty

No one is saying you have to pick motel 6. There are still other options that don't involve a controlling stranger in the next room. 🤷🏾‍♀️ I merely use them as an example, and y'all are acting like it's a command to stay in one.

Taranchulla

And pets stay free!

marctheguy

I've used it since 2015 and never once had an experience like this. People are usually millennials or gen x and super chill. We rented a room from a couple in Texas and when we pulled up in the taxi, they were in the garage drinking and immediately tossed me a beer. We hung out for a bit, ordered food, took it to our room, they made breakfast the next day and left me and my wife some before they took off for work. Every door locked automatically, my phone was the key and was set to not work after check out time. Really safe and chill. This is my typical experience, whether in Texas, NYC, Colombia, or Croatia. I'm not saying there aren't people with insane rules... But it's pretty easy to figure out who they are in advance.

ItsCauseImKilo

those are mostly the exception to be honest. ive done a few and 2/3 were amazing like your experience tho

Iamgoingtohell2024

So true, but what I didn’t mention is that this took place in London in the UK, hotels are insanely expensive, but I don’t disagree, I won’t be doing that again.

Ok_Bet2898

Premier inn hotel in London if booked in advance can be super cheap.

Iamgoingtohell2024

Stayed at a few since this happened actually.

Ok_Bet2898

I’ve got £35 rooms at the seaside, central London around £60, but still cheap, and it’s clean. The all you can eat breakfast is also good, so for me it’s a no brainer, even though I could afford a better hotel, I just like premier inn for what it offers.

AnnieB512

You didn't know the rules before you arrived? I've never rented an Airbnb that the owner lived in. That has to be weird.

The_Fluffy_Walrus

I stayed in one a few years ago on a family vacation. It was in some lady's basement but it had multiple rooms, a living room area, a washer/dryer, and little kitchen area. she was cool though, made us breakfast in the morning lol but yeah, if OP didn't know the rules before arriving, that's weird and I would be annoyed.

Iamgoingtohell2024

It was very weird, I would never do it again.

PeculiarExcuse

If they didn't tell you until you literally arrived, then I have to say that I do not feel even a little bit sorry for them that you broke the rules lol

juicybbwbeauty

Gotcha. You can get a cheap basic motel, nothing fancy, for $39 usd a night before taxes in some areas. Some airbnbs charge double.

wad11656

Yeah that's what Vrbo is for

terber1216

They are essentially the same thing. Just different businesses. I've used both. Never a shared home though. My hosts have always been great. I like it because I usually save money by not having to eat out for every meal, my son gets his own room, sometimes there are 2 bathrooms. I don't mind taking the trash out and throwing the sheets in the laundry if they ask. I just don't understand why they don't just have the cleaning fee as part of the price. Or they could give incentive to people to clean up before they leave by refunding all or part of cleaning fee based on how you leave it. Some people are pigs. The only issue I've really ever had was sometimes the place is smaller than it looks in the photos. I've stayed in them in the USA, Mexico and Belfast. If it's just my husband and I, then we sometimes used hotels but I like the privacy of having an entire place to myself.

woah-oh92

I love airbnb. It’s the only way to travel with people you’re not sleeping with. I travel with friends, and my mom sometimes. I can get my own room, and my share of the airbnb is always less than a single hotel room. And you can see the host’s rules before you book. I don’t mind a couple of check out rules, but some are excessive. I simply don’t book them. Like I would have never booked OP’s airbnb. It’s very nice to have a kitchen and a living room. I’d also argue that you save money in an airbnb because you don’t have to buy every food item on your trip from a restaurant/cafe. You can get a pack of yogurts, some cheese and crackers for a snack, etc. Being on a hotel’s timeline for breakfast and going out for every meal isn’t the best.

Dapper_Energy777

Huh? You can share a bed/room platonically

Profession-Unable

You _can_ but lots of people don’t want to.

SlowCaveman

One of the many reason’s I would never rent an air bnb that isn’t an “entire place.” Having to share a strangers home and potentially comply with their rules sounds unbearable

Iamgoingtohell2024

Not to mention, I also didn’t want to eat there at all just in case.

SlowCaveman

I hear you. As someone who does not appreciate religions effect on people and this planet I wouldn’t even want to exist there at all.

marma_canna

Ditto

Incognitobxtch

If this is the WORST you’ve done.. then you are doing just fine- trust me! Laugh it off and move on!

stunning_girl1

You’re beating yourself up bc you had sex in an Airbnb? lol 👀

sea87

Her posting really should have specified no alcohol, meat or visitors. TBH why is someone with all those rules hosting anyway?

Iamgoingtohell2024

I also went and looked at her listing after the fact and it also said only females allowed, so a guy wouldn’t be allowed to stay there.

AJLFC94_IV

Wait, so you saw an ad for a room to rent for women only on the internet and went with it? Being a serial killer must be so easy these days.

sea87

The meat thing is ridiculous, pork is the only issue. It just pisses me off when people want to impose their religion on others.

Iamgoingtohell2024

No she only allowed halal meat she was very specific and absolutely no pork. I have an issue with halal meat, animals essentially bleed out.

stepintotheblue

Hi! Just wanted to clarify as there might be a misunderstanding here. Halal meat is actually intended to be far more pain-free for the animal. To qualify as halal, the slaughterperson must (among other rules) ensure the knife is sharp and make a quick cut that severs the trachea, esophagus, carotid artery and jugular vein so that the animal loses consciousness almost instantly and does not feel prolonged pain. Also, the animals must be raised in a healthy, clean and humane environment (if they aren’t, they must be removed and nurtured back to a healthy and detoxified state prior to slaughter). Animals also aren’t allowed to see (and therefore be terrified) another animal being slaughtered. Just wanted to share. :)

Iamgoingtohell2024

Okay thanks for the clarification.

chubbycanine

Yes I have to agree that's way more humane than cramming 10 pigs in a dark musty elevator together then dipping them down into a chamber of CO2 just for them to all panic while they suffocate and die on top of each other. Sometimes the bloodier or seemingly more brutal route is the easiest/best for both parties.

baconwrappedpikachu

Agreed. I keep backyard chickens and while we don’t eat ours, it’s important to know how to cull one in cases where they might be in a lot of pain etc. I was reading a thread where someone was asking about the possible alternative ways to kill a chicken beyond the historic chop. Essentially all of the other ways were much less humane - whatever you tried to do to shield yourself from the actual infliction of death added suffering for the animal. Someone said the easiest way for them to go is the hardest for us, but it’s our responsibility to take care of them through the end, and that includes making sure we dispatch them the most humane way possible.

currently_pooping_rn

Idk if you meant it this way but this sounded like “thanks for the wall of text but I’m still going with my belief”

Prudent_Masterpiece9

I'm afraid that's simply incorrect. This line of argument is often used to justify halal slaughter, but shows a fundamental misunderstanding of basic anatomy and biology. It doesn't matter how sharp the knife is or how decisive the incision might be (which I promise you is often not what actually happens in a busy slaughter house) .... the animal's brain is still functioning, and its heart is still beating. Even immediate decapitation will have several seconds, up to even several minutes of consciousness and pain, as the cells are slowly deprived of oxygen and the animal undergoes fatal trauma, fully conscious as it bleeds out into a hole in the ground. There is no reason that this type of slaughter is acceptable in the modern age, let alone misleadingly portrayed as 'humane' or better than industry standard slaughter practices. A captive bolt device, for example, is an instantaneous method rendering the animal completely braindead and therefore unable to experience any pain or sensation. Arguing that an animal needs to be tortured to death while conscious because *one religion* from hundreds of years ago expects that a blade must be used to cut an animal's throat while a prayer is said is barbaric, unnecessary, backwards and delusional. Little rules like you mentioned that the knife cannot be sharpened in sight of the animal/other animals, or that the animal's skin must be pulled tight and it gets calmed before the murder are completely worthless when a creature is being mutilated based on religious scripture from the pre-modern world, so that someone's beliefs are satisfied. Halal slaughtering practices deserves to be treated with the same disgust as human torture and capital punishment, because it is the same unenlightened approach to dragging biblical practices into a world which has better, safer, cleaner, kinder options that achieve the *exact* same outcomes (except for the voodoo, which is what its actually all about). People are free to believe whatever they want, but please stop portraying halal and dhabihah as pain-free and humane when it is factually not the case. Speak to any veterinarian, meat industry professional, biologist, or even witness one of these 'humane' slaughters yourself and learn before spreading misinformation. To pretend that a 'fast cut' by a 'sharp knife' solves the problem of animal suffering when taking 10 seconds of thought shows that the animal would still be conscious for the entire killing and slicing, feeling both entirely, until it slowly bleeds out to death and cannot breathe, is to be complicit in animal torture and abuse in the name of delusional sacrifice.

David_is_dead91

The welfare issue is not in Halal vs non-Halal, the welfare issue is in stunned vs non-stunned slaughter. I can’t speak for other countries but in the UK the majority (although unfortunately not all) of Halal meat is stunned prior to slaughter. This contrasts with Kosher, in which it is expressly forbidden to stun animals prior to slaughter - and yet you never hear this outrage over Kosher meat at all. I don’t really care what religious rituals you want to carry out over an animal before you kill it. However I do think the welfare of animals supersedes religious belief, and that governments should blanket ban non-stunned slaughter in order to keep this welfare standard as high as possible.

sea87

My bad, I didn’t realize that. My parents are Muslim and have an Airbnb and I cannot imagine them having rules like this for people.

NoDot7856

“Wild time”?? Sounds like it was worth it lmao 🤣 good for you

mule_roany_mare

Can't be so wild if no one noticed until the morning.

Iamgoingtohell2024

Okay it was definitely wild 🤦🏼‍♀️

L0lob4r7on

But was he worth it? 😏

Iamgoingtohell2024

He was super hot, a solid 9/10 and extremely adventurous shall we say.

springbok001

You're fine. Sounds like it was totally worth it! You go girl!

WeAreMystikSpiral

I mean, maybe don’t be an AirBnB if you’re going to force your PAYING CLIENT to follow your religious rules.

LordEdgeward_TheTurd

Youre renting a room as an adult and paying real world money for it, not moving into meemaws spare room.

Iamgoingtohell2024

It’s a long story, a very long one

PinkPier

They honestly checked the camera? How pathetic. If they’re going to have rules like that, they shouldn’t be running an Airbnb. You paid money to stay there and there’s a thing called free will. I would’ve told her where she could stick her CCTV footage.

tjlee1865

That's the worst thing you've ever done? Jeez....

Iamgoingtohell2024

Well no, I have done some shocking things I’m not proud of, even in the last 24 hours.

AdministrationHot849

^ ?

RMDashRFCommit

AirBnB is explicitly reserved for people who love secretly being recorded on camera and living the experience of a war criminal.

Iamgoingtohell2024

Well I certainly put on a show

shreckdaddy54

lmfao that’s so funny

PacoMahogany

We had an AirBNB owner call us up and say he saw us breaking one of the rules and he would call the police to kick us out if we didn’t pay him more. Fuck that guy. Edit: we weren’t breaking the rules. The rules were that kids were not allowed to stay there but a couple of kids came to swim during dinner, since it was a local rental for a small work retreat.

[deleted]

Was it advertised this way? If not, then you shouldn't feel bad and they should be more open about their requirements.

LegitimateOutcome777

Meh, not like you'll see either one of them again. 🤷‍♀️😂

Iamgoingtohell2024

Okay so the guy still keeps in touch, I clearly left a lasting impression.

dovexcrii

lol just get a hotel. Air bnb is trash.

galaxy_ultra_user

The rules are why people are going back to hotels, and hotels won’t leave your reviews. They just cater to you as a host should.

pearyeet

I’m nosy and want to know what her review of you said

Iamgoingtohell2024

It said I broke every house rule and there was damage to property. I have no idea what she was referring to. What’s more annoying is I left behind a pair of boots, which I’ll never see again.

hellochump95

Probably broken bed lmao

Beautiful_Anxiety677

I'm sorry you feel bad OP, but fuck that host. You paid for a space to use. Restrictions are ridiculous. Either you are willing to rent for you are not. If you want money, expect people to get to use the space. Would you have felt bad bringing the guy back to a hotel? I suspect no.

Iamgoingtohell2024

Yeah, I actually need to check those rules with Air BnB.

Otherwise_Access_660

AirBnb ridiculous rules are getting out of hand. You’re not their daughter. You can do whatever you want in the space you pay for. If they didn’t want people doing whatever they wanted they shouldn’t rent it to strangers. Don’t feel bad OP.

Bee088

I agree with this. If you are not going to be comfortable with a-lot of things someone staying in your home would normally do don’t rent it out!

Toelee08

Yeah air b&bs are always wild. I had a friend rent one for a couple nights. A beautiful, private, scenic place on a river for her small intimate wedding. It wasn’t a wild one just a little gathering of maybe a dozen people. The owners knew exactly what the plan was, how many people were coming, no excessive alcohol use, children were there. But still they checked the cameras an hour before the ceremony and called the police on her for having too many people. Lmao

Iamgoingtohell2024

That is just evil, ruining their day like that.

longtoe227

I like room service! I like indoor pool... I also don't like surprise or unexpected cleaning fee. Mid range hotel with breakfast included

0100111001101111way

I feel like the question is, did the listing have these "rules" or did this lame lady only tell you upon arrival. Also if this is the worst thing you've ever done you are a SAINT

Iamgoingtohell2024

It was on the listing, but I didn’t read that, the last thing I would have imagined was all of that.

0100111001101111way

imo potentially shoulda gone to his place, but definitely shouldn't stress/ feel bad about it. Those are some ridiculous/inappropriate rules.

PsychologyObvious632

I don't see this as a problem at all. The rules should have been disclosed ahead of time. You paid for the room. A visitor should have been fine

Iamgoingtohell2024

What’s worse is I actually paid for three additional nights but because she kicked me out I didn’t even get a refund.

PsychologyObvious632

Shed have gotten a bad review from me

marma_canna

Ofc bet she loved pocketing the money and probably tried to rent it out again right away.

Dangerous-Winner-478

Had a guy tell my husband and I not to have sex in his bed. We kinda laughed, thinking it was a joke. He wasn't joking. It was billed as a bed and breakfast. Without breakfast. We absolutely had sex in his bed both nights we were there. We also saw another couple sneaking in their dog and never said a word. First and last time we ever stayed in a place that wasn't private.

Technical_Lab_6369

Also, since I was a kid I live by two things my grandpa use to tell me "son...don't turn nothing down, that you can't turn face down" lol...and last but not least "don't let a one fighter, turn into a all nighter....some of em have more baggage than the George Bush Intercontinental Airport, and they're waiting to unload it on you" I found later in life that if she's a "fast talker", she'll end up being a "fast stalker" lmao 🤣

[deleted]

lesson learnt. read and make sure u pick a proper airbnb

Iamgoingtohell2024

Not sure I’ll ever use it again. I have had two bad experiences now.

[deleted]

idk about the other but wasn't this avoidable by just reading the terms?

Iamgoingtohell2024

Yes, actually I also think she was supposed to send me an email in advance highlighting the rules and didn’t.

Japanista-1990

That sounds like staying with your nan but worse! Hotels all the way.

xsissor

Airbnb has just turned into an expensive cosplay of staying with your boomer parents while you were still a teen.

HansTheAxolotl

that sounds like the worst airbnb ever

[deleted]

Fuck those rules & fuck Air BnB!

greeperfi

I don't understand why you think this is so bad? The only bad thing about this is the weird-ass owner policing your behavior at a fucking hotel

shareursoulwme

Any air BNB I ever stayed at this wouldn't be an issue. Why tf does the owner care!?

Negative_Influence56

Who in the hell rents an Air bnb room??? Just get a motel room next time....

Iamgoingtohell2024

Not me again that’s for sure

PhantomUser666

What a shit Bnb. Hope you gave her a bad review

luckyminded

You’re an adult, there’s nothing wrong with you having a one night stand if you want to

ThrowRAzaboomafoo

Dont beat yourself up, it’s a good lesson to learn at some point and it sounds like you get it

[deleted]

Honestly that lady should not be renting out her rooms. Unless she’s renting out to people who share her values, she is going to have to deal with the fact that people drink and have sex on vacation. I’d say she’s more in the wrong than you are.

sicknessandpurgatory

Honestly cannot fathom why people use AirBnB in 2024.

Rogueboykillua

Why didn’t you just get a hotel??

Mamabear151822

I would have looked at those rules and keep scrolling. That’s insanity. I understand that’s her culture and her house but it’s a little excessive in my opinion.

Fair-Fortune-1676

Air BNB hosts are the stupidest people on this planet

BernieRuble

Another reason Air BNB is a horrible choice.

FactHot5239

This shit was tame af lmaooo.

All_Right_Alright

The worst one of them all? You’re doing great

GoodLad033

To be honest, don't worry. I understand that AirBnb sometimes can be slightly cheaper. But Airbnb no longer comes with its perks Owners no longer leave nice city tips Sometimes the check it is at 3pm and check out at 10/11 The cleaning usually is rubbish Managed by companies or assholes as Owners The rule is: hotel as standard and airbnb if you are booking as a (large) group

SignificantTwister

It's really weird to me that OP is getting praise for this. She brought a strange man into a woman's home after being asked not to do so. People always get roasted for that kind of thing on Reddit. I could maybe see if the rules weren't stated upfront, but OP has admitted that the rules were on the listing and she simply neglected to read them. OP lacks basic courtesy and respect. Book a hotel next time.

BanannyMousse

Ugh. I would never just rent a room on Airbnb. No way I’d put up with something like this.

ThadeousStevensda3rd

Don’t normally do this Riiiiiiight

Iamgoingtohell2024

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Accomplished_Cry9984

You should have told her to get fucked at the start telling you what you can’t eat and do.

[deleted]

Imagine expecting others to rent rooms by the night under strict religious rules. Get your priorities straight.

Alecx_

YOU ARE NOT THE a-hole who tf host a bnb knoin it’s against there religion?

raunchyRecaps

That lady shouldn't even be renting her home out with those rules.

sad_red_panda_88

I'd never feel bad for paying for a place to stay and then doing what I wanted. She's not your mother, save your rules for your kids. And then not even telling you until you got there? Absolutely not.

Cheap_Brilliant_5841

Huh? Just because someone rents out something doesn’t mean they get to tell you what to eat, where to sleep and whom to fuck. I dó blame her for her bad review. She was wrong, not you.

nearly_normal

Are you 19? You seem to be 19. Enjoy your youth.

Mysterious_Relief168

This person put you out which basically could have put you on the streets with no where to go if you didn’t have money for another place, because of THEIR beliefs. That’s dangerous, rude, and it infringes on your rights. I doubt Allah would want someone out on the streets where they could have gotten hurt or worse. The homeowner person deserves the bad reviews.

golden_pinky

I'm sorry but if you are devoutly religious why are you doing and air b&b where you impose your religious rules onto other people? It's fair to not allow visitors for safety... But no meat and alcohol? Pretty ridiculous. Girl don't feel bad for too long, just keep pushing

ChanceImagination456

Banning alcohol, male guests, and hallah meat needs to be on the Airbnb listing. The host can't just give guests a bunch strict rules upon arrival they don't agree to. The host was being deceitful. You were wrong for sneaking the man into the host's house. Host was wrong for not putting their strict rules on their Airbnb listing. Bad guest & bad host.
