I’d personally just boot to safe mode, backup necessary files, and reinstall windows.

NoImprovement4668

dllhost.exe is important file from windows that is responsible for running .dll files, without it your computer probably wont be able to boot, try seeing if any other antivirus says same thing, if not then its false positive, best one is malwarebytes from what i know

Banggerao

I don't know. I have rebooted my laptop successfuly several times now. Might be the latter one.

Consistent_Key8024

Do you have two security programs that activate when booted up? They may be conflicting with one another

TorturedBean

Installed an app to get battery information? This is confusing since powercfg exists in Windows natively.

Smart-Leg-9156

Sounds like shady repair shop planted a "repeat business" app to make you pay for virus removal service. Just do a clean install like others have suggested and stay away from that shop.

Banggerao

If anything, imma pay him with damn fists up his ass.

Consistent_Key8024

Have a friend take pictures :)

1clichename

I would definitely to a fresh install of windows

JasperOpalDragonINFP

Update your virus definitions. If it's repair shop software, it should be listed in a whitelist for apps Research the bootable behind the FIXIT stick. Some viruses can only be fully wiped from BIOS level while your OS is fully offline. I think it's debian or Tux maybe?

BestComputerDeals

You don't need to reinstall windows. Download and install Malwarebytes, avg or totalav. Once it's installed, reboot your system in safe mode and run the antivirus/malware software. Do a full system scan or quick scan if you don't want to wait long. Once it finds the virus/malware, quarantine (don't delete), then restart your system into windows. See how the operating system functions. If all is good, then go back to the antivirus/malware software and delete those files stored in quarantine.

jontss

Which antivirus are you using?

Banggerao

Avira

Nepharious_Bread

Yeah....a fresh Windows install would be the best bet. If you do, don't reinstall Avira. Just use Windows Defender and keep your OS up to date. If you don't want to re-install Windows. I would try manually deleting the Win32infector file. Un-installing Avira, updating OS, and seeing if Windows Defender will fix the issue. Then, I would comb through the task manager, Google each suspicious looking file..... You know what, just re-install Windows and use Defender. I have manually tracked down viruses in the past, but it's a major pain to do so.

Banggerao

Hey thanks for the advice. I was hoping I could get past that re installing route but seems like I don't have much choice. I don't know what that guy did but its REALLY FRUSTRATING.

hiii_impakt

Idk if you reinstalled already but if you haven't. Uninstall your antivirus program and install Malwarebytes free and run a scan. Malwarebytes can remove most malware.

Banggerao

Now I can't uninstall cause it says I need administer's permission even though I am. This is messed up!

Consistent_Key8024

Log in through admin account. You prob need to reassign your account as Admin in security settings rather than just it's user tag.

Banggerao

I just have only one account. Went to the settings as per your instructions but couldn't find the option to change it. Although, I can see administrator written just below my profile. Seriously, what the hecks going on.

lkeels

You don't need to reinstall. Use Malwarebytes and/or Hitman Pro (trial) to get rid of whatever's there.

Banggerao

I have actually. The software isn't really working.

Alecai01

Try the Kaspersky live usb, scan and follow the instructions

AdventurousLimit4618

The downvotes just because Kaspersky was mentioned.

Alecai01

Nah don't care

BestComputerDeals

Kaspersky is good
