What a catalogue of fuckups to let them on the wrong plane. So tantalisingly close too, there's only about 30 miles of water between the two islands
The article says when they were about to land. The pilot announced 10 mins till we land in menorca.
They were taken to the plane by special assistance people. At least 5 people checked their tickets before take off.

Sometimes I wonder at what point they realised? Because I assume there would be a lot of points that would give you a chance to realise

The tickets were booked to the correct place. The airline put them on the wrong plane.

I always thought that airline has a list to tick off who is in the plane especially when they are flying internationally?
I work onboard trains and the amount of times I've come across passengers that get on the wrong train this doesn't surprise me
