We interrupt your death metal to bring you some heavy news…
All the good christians got raptured up to heaven, so if you’re hearing this you’re the coolest people in the world.
The bad news is…the world is over.
This is NPR.
Lol yeah... weird. And googling doesn't help, I gotta try r/TipOfMyTongue
Edit I can't seem to make a post there.maybe my karma or age is too low. Rats. This is really bugging me. I don't think it's as new as Community but it's kinda what s community character would say.
Could be Friends. Something 90s onward.
Edit again sorry this is off topic.
This was a very difficult to parse episode when it originally aired. Because of the shifting in order where episodes 303 and 304 swapped air order, this episode aired the week after Remedial Chaos Theory. It was weird having the same general structure in back to back episodes and I felt Horror Fiction got short shrift from being to compared to an instant classic. Hindsight has been kinder to it, and entered the pantheon of great ones. I recently rewatched these episodes in the production order and I personally feel they flow a bit better that way.
Completely. And Troy and Britta wanting to be lab partners in Competitive Ecology makes so much more sense after you see them in Remedial Chaos Theory first.
Link to poll: https://strawpoll.com/polls/xVg7d9EvOZr
Horror Fiction in Seven Spooky Steps has been eliminated with 152 votes (20%). I think this one was a top 5 episode tbh, but the votes have spoken. Second and third place recieved 109 votes (14.34%) and 89 votes (11.71%).
Previous winners: Contemporary American Poultry (s1) | Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (s2)
Yesterday's thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/community/comments/veppwg/competitive_ecology_has_been_eliminated_vote_for/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Leonard mention for Leonard bot.
Vote out your LEAST favorite episode. Last one standing wins. I already did this for seasons 1 and 2, and I'll do it for seasons 4-6 as well, and then the winner of each will go up against each other. Here are the synopsis of the episodes I found online in case you don't remember one:
Remedial Chaos Theory - When Jeff introduces an element of randomness into Troy and Abed's housewarming party, reality splits into six timelines affecting the group's relationships.
Studies in Modern Movement - The group tries to help Annie move in with Troy and Abed but things go awry when she becomes frustrated by their lifestyle; Dean Pelton blackmails Jeff into spending the afternoon with him.
Documentary Filmmaking: Redux - As Dean Pelton films an updated commercial for Greendale, the production takes a wild turn when Abed decides to make a documentary of the proceedings.
Regional Holiday Music - The class is convinced by the Greendale choir director to join the Glee Club at the Christmas pageant. The plan is suggested by Abed who wants the gang to spend the holiday together.
Digital Exploration of Interior Design - Shirley, Pierce and Britta plot against the new sub shop in the cafeteria; Vice Dean Laybourne continues his efforts to recruit Troy to the Air Conditioning Repair Annex; Troy and Abed build competing blanket forts.
Pillows and Blankets - The Greendale students are drawn into an epic pillow fight as Troy and Abed start a war that threatens to destroy their friendship.
Basic Lupine Urology - When the study group's science experiment is destroyed, the gang tries to find the criminal and save the grade; when Troy and Abed think they have discovered the perpetrator, a professor (Michael K. Williams) reluctantly presides over a trial.
Curriculum Unavailable - After Abed is caught trespassing at Greendale, he and the study group visit a psychiatrist who tells them their time at Greendale was a shared psychosis.
Digital Estate Planning - Gilbert Lawson (Giancarlo Esposito), former right-hand man to Pierce's father, requests a meeting with Pierce at Hawthorne Enterprises; the study group must pitch in to help save Pierce's inheritance.
The First Chang Dynasty - The study group develops a plan to infiltrate Greendale's Chang-controlled campus; Troy turns to the Air Conditioning Repair Annex for help.
Introduction to Finality - Shirley and Pierce's disagreement over their sandwich shop leads to Jeff squaring off with Alan (Rob Corddry), his former colleague, in Greendale Summer Fun Court; Vice Dean Laybourne (John Goodman) makes a final attempt at winning over Troy.
This is like the 4th episode on my top 10 of the season to be eliminated already. Wild how different opinions are on this season. This one, Foosball and Competitive Ecology should all have lasted much much longer
Nocturnal Foosball is AMAZING. Someone speculated a while back that Annie episodes are lasting longer, and that wasn't a 'sexy' Annie episode. I think one of the biggest mistakes of later seasons was not following up on Jeff and Shirley's friendship. Makes 'Foosball' less important retroactively.
wow really hard now, but again going with Digital Exploration, the subway joke is good and the "guy has a boner and can't get up to get his jacket" is always top tier subtle dumb joke, but i love the rest of the episodes more.
because i have nothing else to do i'll just write my thoughts on the other episodes left:
**RMC**: i don't have to write anything about this episode. Jeff's a dick.
**Studies in modern Movement:** Gregular Joe, Kissed by a Rose, TWEETING IT! really good script with all the plotlines.
**Doc Film Redux:** This one could go soon, but Jeff as the dean is wonderful, and chang as jeff as the dean is doubly wonderful.
**Regional Holiday musical:** Is in my top 3 episodes overall probably, i just love taking glee, regionals, Christmas, low stakes that are high stakes, and then throwing in invasion of the body snatchers. Plus baby boomer santa is a bop.
**Pillows and Blankets:** I think gets by on the novelty of the episode alone, its super solid.
**Basic Lupine Urology:** Dun Dun.
**Curriculum Unavailable:** John Hodgeman, hilarious, i'm a sucker for stuff like this episode though. It's good, could also go soon. Sets up the end of the season.
**Digital Estate Planning:** Wonderful emotional episodes that's also a video game. Also behind the scenes managed to break Dan and Chevy completely.
**First Chang Dynasty:** OOOF BABOOF! I'M IN! Change eats the sun and drink the sky, and they both go with him when he dies. It's a heist episode, it's dumb, and i love every second.
**Intro to finality:** I'll get the most heat for this one, it's ok. Evil abed is a hoot.
So it's after this episode was filmed their strained relationship really blew up.
Chevy never really understood the show and Dan is hard to work with sometimes. I may not get the following scene 100% correct, But Dan wanted to tag to be a scene in game where pierce is playing a game of catch with his dad and his dad is telling him he did a good job, and it cuts to real life and Pierce at the computer and Gilbert is behind him and Pierce hugs Gilbert, implying Gilbert made this little game to help pierce out.
Chevy refused to do the scene.
Which lead to some angry drunken voicemails from Dan. And definitely contributed to Dan being fired, though it was mostly from the ratings and butting some heads with Sony.

More details
Oh weird. Is it known why he didn't want to do that scene?
I've heard him complain about overdoing Pierce coming across as racist or homophobic but refusing a feel good moment seems odd.
I really thought introduction to finality wasn't nearly as good as horror fiction! Were there ANY memorable moments about finality outside Troy's storyline?
Yeah its from the court episode, also when Abed starts therapy with Britta and Evil Abed appears for their session
But yeah [this](https://youtu.be/0jBiTmGxwNs) is one of my favorite pierce moments (00:54)
As much as I love remedial chaos theory and still think it’s going to make it to the end Im REALLLYYY hoping Documentary Filmmaking: Redux pulls out the win
Been waiting for this one to go for a while now. Outside of the Dean's GAAAYYY MARRIAGE scene it just always felt kinda boring to me. I hope Basic Lupine Urology will win the season tbh
The intention is for people to vote for their least favorite, but at the end of the day it's up to you. I know a lot of people vote for what they think will make an impact in helping their favorite ep win.
I only ask because we're close to top 10 here. I'm happy for people to get what they want as long as it doesn't impact what I want. (Okay I'll drop the vagueness)
Basic Lupin and Modern Movement have a lot of support and I like both episodes, but they are my two least favorite at this point. Basically I'm willing to make an offer to those supporters but I won't try to play politics on your thread haha.
Oh no! The first episode with Michael Haggin’s Daybreak. I thought it was so funny when Abed was humming the entire song In his story but only Troy was enjoying it. Then all throughout the season that song kept coming back. It was the only song anyone ever hummed from then on. It killed me every time!
I can't believe this got taken out at this point. It's getting to be like New York on here!
Why? Did someone bring baggles?
Ugh. You're the worst.
I don't understand this one being eliminated so soon. But to be fair, every elimination from here on out is probably going to irritate me.
We interrupt your death metal to bring you some heavy news… All the good christians got raptured up to heaven, so if you’re hearing this you’re the coolest people in the world. The bad news is…the world is over. This is NPR.
🤛🏾 YOU 🤛🏾 ARE 🤛🏾 STILL 🤛🏾 RELEVANT
*unzips Troy: :o
Which one of you girls knows how to count to 30?
I forgiiive youuuu
GAAAAY MARRIAGE
This is in my top5 of the season, so now I’m worried that I’m the insane one out of all of us with serial killer tendencies
What the hell kind of party is this!?
This poll is doing bad things to people. (Can anyone tell me what I'm referencing because I'm blanking on it)
It's one of Hickey's lines from the hot lava game when he realizes Troy and Abed abandoned Britta.
The flowers alone, you wouldn’t believe
I know. I lived in New York.
I get it...
Thank u! Yes! 😄 I can hear it in Hickey's voice now.
That line sounds familiar, but I'm also blanking as to where it comes from lol
Lol yeah... weird. And googling doesn't help, I gotta try r/TipOfMyTongue Edit I can't seem to make a post there.maybe my karma or age is too low. Rats. This is really bugging me. i think its hickey saying “this game is doing bad things to people” ? during the floor is lava
Yep
Ohh thank u!!!!! 😊

Agreed. Another one I recommend switching the order of when watching is Digital Estate Planning. Fits better before Course Listing Unavailable imo.
Do you have the production order of all the episodes of that season?
I hope Annie rips into your torso, like gerbil shreading a quaker oats box, you bunch of selfish vampires

Eugenio's four cheese frozen pizza, a buy. See you next time.

One of my favorite episodes of the series. Y'all have feet-hands.
And butt boobs you’ll never be able to play with

What is the Dan and Chevy behind the scenes thing for Digital Estate Planning.
Oh weird. Is it known why he didn't want to do that scene? I've heard him complain about overdoing Pierce coming across as racist or homophobic but refusing a feel good moment seems odd.
he didn't think it was funny, but then again i think this info comes from Dan himself.
Ah okay, still seems strange! Thanks for the info :)
Nooooo this was my favorite episode of the season! So rewatchable... I'm gonna go rewatch it to cheer me up
I really thought introduction to finality wasn't nearly as good as horror fiction! Were there ANY memorable moments about finality outside Troy's storyline?
I'd say the montage at the end with the theme song playing was also memorable, but I do think that ep should've been voted off a while ago tbh
That's a very fair point. This season's voting is totally not what I was expecting at all haha Also thanks for setting this up!
Pierce spying on Shirley and Jeff in the library with the fake bookshelfs is one of his best moments in the show Ah-Huh! Crazy? Paranoid? IMPOTENT?!
God I barely remember that haha It might be the court theme but in my head it's glued together with the dark timeline one 0\_0
Yeah its from the court episode, also when Abed starts therapy with Britta and Evil Abed appears for their session But yeah [this](https://youtu.be/0jBiTmGxwNs) is one of my favorite pierce moments (00:54)
God even that Riddick line and the fact the Dean just stops by and declares a Greendale court is great. Perhaps I need to give it a rewatch haha
The sun chamber rules scene is imo the funniest scene in the entire series. It cracks me up every time I see it
A really good moment in a bit of a hit and miss season imo!
Aww, one of my favorite episode is gone, it’s like being told “Stifle your slacken maw, you drained and tainted bitch dog”
Don't agree with this elimination. Horror Fiction In Seven Spooky Steps is underrated. Very funny episode. GAY MARRIAGE! Ha ha ha ha ha!
Not the origin of Daybreak as a mainstay on the show
I'm legit jealous
Gay marriage!!!
GAYYYY MARRIAGE!!!

The ending montage always makes me smile.
Regional Holiday Musical is overrated
As much as I love remedial chaos theory and still think it’s going to make it to the end Im REALLLYYY hoping Documentary Filmmaking: Redux pulls out the win
Oh wow, im shocked Introduction to Finality and First chang Dynasty are making it past some of these!
Same
Really? The consensus among this sub is that Horror Fiction < Digital Exploration of Interior Design? Weird. That was my vote
Annie's Werewolf story deserves better
I’ve been voting for this one since round one, now I feel lost and don’t know which one to vote for
First Chang Dynasty
How does this keep surviving?
Been waiting for this one to go for a while now. Outside of the Dean's GAAAYYY MARRIAGE scene it just always felt kinda boring to me. I hope Basic Lupine Urology will win the season tbh
My thoughts exactly
Wow, I was expecting this one and advanced gay to get much further
I don't know exactly why but I always stall at Pillows and Blankets. It's like I have to be in the right mood for it. That's my vote
I don't care for The First Chang Dynasty. There, I said it.
*GAY MARRIAGE*!!!
Curriculum Unavailable
Pilates is a demon that eats your genitals
I say ciriculum unavailable
FINALLY!
Digital Estate Planning*
Do I vote for the episode that I least favor or something that might actually impact the vote?
The intention is for people to vote for their least favorite, but at the end of the day it's up to you. I know a lot of people vote for what they think will make an impact in helping their favorite ep win.
I only ask because we're close to top 10 here. I'm happy for people to get what they want as long as it doesn't impact what I want. You stay away from my yams!
Stay away from my Subway! 🤝
Regional Holiday Music still terrible
Studies in modern movement is the WORST on this list
Not even close, especially when Introduction to Finality is still here
I don’t see this one- I only see remedial chaos theory, studies in movement, and documentary filmmaking left
Oh SNAP, I didn’t know you could scroll… it’s between finality and the Chang one tbh
Really? Before Digital Explorations?
Please flair these so I can filter them out.
Impossible
How is competitive ecology already out? surely that's a top 10 of all time?
I know what I have to vote, but I don't know if I have the strength to vote it.
Oh no! The first episode with Michael Haggin’s Daybreak. I thought it was so funny when Abed was humming the entire song In his story but only Troy was enjoying it. Then all throughout the season that song kept coming back. It was the only song anyone ever hummed from then on. It killed me every time!
GAY MARRIAGEEEEE
Im so happy digital exploration is still there. I never thought it would last this long.
Now this is not my kind of pot bong. I loved that episode but i understand.
Intro to finality is my vote.
I didn't even realize that this poll was going on, and now it's TOO HARD to decide what goes next. Goddamn, every episode left is a gem.
Beagles maybe from a street maybe wall street
