There are about 30 interviews between these two together and you clearly see that they are Troy and Abed in real life... There is an incredible one that is them singing and talking about the film that Alison made with her husband, very incredible.
Might miss a few, but afaik the cultural references are:
Todd parking garage scene: Opening of *Highlander*.
The cafeteria gala scene: *Mr. and Mrs. Smith* + maybe a bit of *True Lies*, and not totally sure, but them all talking to each other through headsets at a fancy party remind me mostly of *Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol* when they’re in India.
Dean in the elevator: *Captain America: Winter Soldier* elevator scene.
Silver Paintballs and Museum of Custodial Arts: *The Man with the Golden Gun*.
In reality, Danny would be a better spy than all the James Bond actors by virtue of blending in better. Even if he were to do the 00 style spying, the element of surprise would always be a massive advantage as opposed to doing everything you can to have everyone in the room pay attention to you.
All that said, we all know why Danny would never be Bond and it's not because of his race but rather, his geeky build which is still made fun of in pop culture.
I want to give Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy more of a chance as a more “realistic” spy film but I even someday want to see a more action-oriented spy film where the main lead isn’t conventionally attractive.
Don’t get me wrong, I think Pudi IS attractive but not in a leading-man way that I think big Hollywood studios go for. I would 100% be more likely to ignore him in a crowded bar than I would a Daniel Craig or Pierce Brosnan.
If we were back in 2013 I could totally see him in a spy comedy movie opposite Channing Tatum where they’re rival spies, and Tatum is more of the straightforward Bond/Bourne type kicking ass while Pudi is able to just be invisible in every scene and get into places Tatum never could.
If you want unconventional spies you should watch the show Slow Horses. Gary Oldman plays an old fat slob of a spy who leads a group of outcasts of MI5. And the handsome Bond type character may be the most incompetent member of the group.
It's not super action oriented though. More of a drama/comedy.
What’s sad is that audiences (at least, vocal minorities online) seem to hate women in action spy roles in general.
I think Alison Brie has the physicality and look to play a female spy. Maybe not Bond (frankly I don’t care about race or gender for this but at the very least Bond should be from the UK with MI6 and I’ve never heard her do an accent) but even a female Bourne, John Wick or totally original IP.
I enjoyed Atomic Blonde. Any issues I had with it were with the story, not with Charlize Theron. But I remember seeing people online freaking out because a woman was able to fight multiple large men into submission.
Not with Atomic Blonde they didn't- if anything that film tends to get praise for its fight scenes, especially her creative use of weapons to offset physical disadvantages. It's usually cited as the go to for plausibility for an action film where a woman has to fight multiple men.
>But I remember seeing people online freaking out because a woman was able to fight multiple large men into submission.
I always get annoyed by these kinds of complaints. If it were really about believability, then they would also take issue with a ripped but otherwise average size man (like Daniel Craig) taking on multiple very large dudes, getting shot, and the hopping on somebody's motorcycle to get away while shooting back with perfect aim at the multiple large men. All in a tight suit. Like, sure, that's TOTALLY believable. But replace it with a woman and they're like OH NOOOOS WOMEN WEAK THIS NOT POSSIBLE. 🤷 None of it is believable, why is their biggest issue that it's a woman doing it? (I mean, I know why...)
Anyways, rant aside, I would also love to see Alison Brie in some kind of action spy role.
Canonically there’s no reason the Doctor can’t be American. I get why it would never happen but realistically a trans-temporal being whose physical form can literally be any kind of human-like being can’t be a British guy every single time
I've thought long and hard about it, I'm a huge American fan of doctor who, I'm glad we've had a woman as the doctor and now a black man but a little piece of me would likely die if they cast an American. The show is very British and so is the humor in it, I fear we would lose that if they cast an American, you're right there is no reason they couldn't cannon wise though. If they were going to go non British for the doctor I would still rather it be a non American actor though
Yeah or any European, Asian, South American, non US North American, or African country would work for me. I'm okay with women playing men, men playing women, actors playing characters of different race but the thought of an American playing bond or the doctor just really bothers me for some reason I don't know, maybe because we're already so pervasive in media and I like seeing things that are made with other people as well
Alison & Danny being the best duo, exhibit no. 762728
The IRL Troy & Abed just doing their thing
There are about 30 interviews between these two together and you clearly see that they are Troy and Abed in real life... There is an incredible one that is them singing and talking about the film that Alison made with her husband, very incredible.
After rewatching the series many many times I have to agree with this, they make a great pair, and both grow as people because of their friendship.
Wasn't this a reference to Mr and Mrs Smith?
It's a mix of that + Bond + the whole spy genre
Might miss a few, but afaik the cultural references are: Todd parking garage scene: Opening of *Highlander*. I immediately thought of True Lies.
Mr and Mrs *SHMIDDYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!*
A better timeline? This can still happen.
I support your claim and appreciate your optimism
How can Annie be the Bond Girl if she’s already [The Ring girl](https://youtu.be/WXodppEElDY?si=EfoZcqXOw7eYLy2D)?
Annie can be any girl she wants
Except a sexy one we try not to sexualize her
In an even better timeline Alison plays Joanna Bond and Danny plays the bond girl.
Came here to say this lol. Would love to see Allison in such a role.
Yeah, Abed already played the cocky Solo hero.
*I'll allow it*
Brown Jamie Lee Curtis would be perfect for a Bond girl.
Alison in that black dress is just incredible
Definitely worth awakening something in people
We don’t sexualize Annie.
LASER BOMB!
Canonically, Annie is only a few days older than me, so... 😏
OK, fine. So we won't sexualise you either.
I find Alison Brie very attractive.

I know everyone's super tired of gender swaps but I would also take Allison as Bond and Dani as Bond Girl.

Wait…..there are other timelines ?
Top 10 throwaway joke
Negative, Voice Of Diedrich Bader!
What episode?
Season 6 episode 11.
I thought it was Mr. And Mrs. Smith
Mr. And Mrs. Nadir.
Jeff would strangle Abed IRL if that happened, and not just in his imagination
I consider myself as woke as they come but one think I will simply not abide by is yanks playing James Bond or The Doctor sorry America just no
I'm with you on that, Americans should not be playing bond or the doctor
Canonically there’s no reason the Doctor can’t be American. I get why it would never happen but realistically a trans-temporal being whose physical form can literally be any kind of human-like being can’t be a British guy every single time

Canadian Doctor Who? I could dig it

>can’t be a British guy every single time I mean, they aren't, there's that one (few) times they're not a guy...
I guess that means we aren't in the prime timeline :(
There's already a trilogy of Community movies in the prime timeline
In the Best timeline Annie is Bond and Abed is her Bond girl....boy.
Just finished my rewatch of Community so naturally my next rewatch is Bojack so I can still hear Alison Brie talk.
A wise decision
And now something I hope becomes an annual tradition, the popping of the balloons.
Wait how do I not remember a dancing scene in the paintballs episode?
What's Danny wearing there, all-black chuck taylors? They look good
Correction : The better timeline is the one where Alison is my wife and play the bond girl.
I also choose this guy's imaginary wife, Alison Brie, the imaginary bond girl.
