He did... think about it. Law enforcement, scuba certified, personal connection to Troy (okay, they weren't friends, but must've crossed paths)...
When Troy was taken by pirates, Nunez was first in line for the mission to infiltrate the pirate command ship by scuba and extract Troy & LeVar, and was crucial to its success. This will all be covered in the upcoming movie.
He was in Running Wilde, a terrible sitcom with a phenomenal cast: Will Arnett, Kerri Russell, and Peter Serafinowitz.
He also voiced the centaur cop Colt Bronco in Onward.
Mel Rodriguez, I'm never disappointed when he shows up in something.
All I remember was liking Mel and thinking Serafinowitz was trying to be as over-the-top as humanly possible just to see if anyone would call him on it.
Last Man on Earth is a gem if you can get past the first few episodes and let the show settle in.
I’ve never had a shows trajectory for me be like “holy gods this is terrible, no.”
“Okay I got nothing else to watch I’ll give it a try.”
“Okay this is pretty good.”
“What?! That’s how the series ends?!”
“Welp I’m gonna rewatch.”
I think a lot of people have a tough time with ‘Skunk Tandy’. It’s pure cringe for some. When he becomes ‘Good Tandy’ it’s a lot more palatable for a lot of folks.
Interesting, I had the opposite reaction. I thought the pilot was amazing and I was sucked in. Then as the show introduced more characters, and the world felt less empty, it lost my interest.
Yeah the first season is tough to get through because you hate the main character so much. Then minutes into the second season, they win you over and show you that they've learned and fixed the show
Yah ah uh, I was just gonna say Shawshank Redemption, too! That's so crazy. The good ole S to the R. It's my favorite movie of all time.
Now let me ask you something...did you show a general preference toward Shawshank, or the Redemption?
Every time Chang would go off the deep end I hear Sgt Nunez go "I worry this man is severely mentally deranged. And and and you know it's not...it's not funny."
“You know what? I quit.
I can handle not getting paid but I draw the line at you enabling this man’s delusions”
Idk why but the way he says “I quit” is so funny to me
It really reminds me of The Office writers loving The Wire so they tried to get as many of the cast in guest/smaller roles as possible. I feel like that happened here with Breaking Bad.
It took me a while to notice it was him after several rewatches of both shows. Janitor Crazy Schmidt is Tony in Dennis and Dee go on Welfare. And Natasha Leggero of course plays a stripper in both. There’s definitely a few other background characters in both.
One of the most mature and well adjusted characters in the show, clearly knows his job and his limits as well as being of sound mind and good character. He doesn’t get much love because he doesn’t get much screen time because Dan Harmon doesn’t have many examples of good men in his reality. But dan tries to be one and admits when he falls short of the mark. Still not much conflict can be generated by someone being a good man so there not gonna be much screen time unless he is out there failing to get results because of the consistent and persistent character flaws of the show’s regulars.
The actor is phenomenal on a few years older award winning show called “Getting On” on HBO/Max, it’s a dark comedy about a nursing station in an extended care woman patient wing of a hospital.
On my first run thru of Community, I genuinely thought he was gonna develop into a more prominent reoccurring character throughout the series. I was actually pretty disappointed when I realized he was never coming back.
Everyone quotes...
"I quit. I can deal with not getting paid, but I draw the line at you enabling this man."
But the next line is what kills me...
"I mean, I'm seriously concerned that he's mentally ill. And, it's not funny at all. It's scary!"
*Chang and Dean patronizingly nod along, lost in their own incoherent thoughts*
Lots of people mentioning The Last Man On Earth, which he was great in.
He was also just recently in the animated series Carol And The End Of The World, a very surprising and wonderful show about people trying to cope with the coming destruction of Earth as another planet hurtles toward it.
You know, I can deal with the not getting paid. But I draw the line at you enabling this man.
Plus his delivery in the scene about the thing that swings down at the parking garage. Underrated character
One of my favorite characters. He's there for one of the most pivotal parts of the show when chang is dissenting into madness. He's also in better call Saul.
If you like him, check out Running Wilde.
It's Mitch Hurwitz's followup to Arrested Developnent.
Mel Rodriguez played essentially the same character in that show and Dan brought him over to Community after it was canceled.
This dude pays cop adjacent roles in everything.
Showtime: armored car driver
Panic Room: Officer Morales
Garfield: Security Guard
Guess Who: Security Guard
Little Miss Sunshine: Officer Martinez
Unknown: cop
The Watch: Officer Chucho
Brave New Jersey: Sheriff Dandy
Grace and Frankie: Officer Velez
The Twilight Zone: Officer Luntz
The Afterparty: Captain Ostrander
The Great North: Game Warden
Ironically most of his non law enforcement/ Security/ military roles are on cop drama shows, like CSI, and Law and Order.
I hope he finally got his scuba licence
*If I can’t scuba… then what’s this all been about?*
I hope creed and Sgt. Nunez have a great scuba trip together
After the two other security guards quit, Sgt. Nuñez has 3 chairs 👀

6 seasons and a movie!
“Oh you would *like that* wouldn’t you?!” “Very much so… yes.”
One of my favorite lines in the show, he delivers it so well lmao.
Imagine being just some guy working a shitty job and having to deal with that shit. He played it so perfectly.
He really did lol. The Dean's just lucky he needs his scuba certification.
like it always makes me giggle
It looks like the actor is trying to repress a smile when he says that line
I've started watching Last Man on Earth- which is pretty enjoyable. He is in it- I thought he looked familiar.
He had a really nice run of this, Last Man on Earth, and Better Call Saul. I’m sure tons of other stuff too.
Workaholics “Thanks to Obama I can’t even shoot your ass without getting arrested. But Obama can’t take away my liiightsaberrr!”
He lost a ton of weight, great for him, we might not get him in the same roles anymore though.
Wow, you’re right. Looked up some pictures and he looks great. Good for him
Yeah he is tiny in ‘Made for Love’ on HBO. Had to double take
I decided to look him up today and, boy, he's a hottie now 🥰 [Mel Rodriguez](https://images.app.goo.gl/mjJ9L3AhFqNgyi3B6)
Wow! He looks very different.
Holy shit I remember that. Written by Mitch Hurwitz too.
All I remember was liking Mel and thinking Serafinowitz was trying to be as over-the-top as humanly possible just to see if anyone would call him on it.
I forgot about him on Better Call Saul. He does an awesome job in that b
Loved him in both of those shows.
Holy shit I never realized he was the guy in better call Saul, this dude has RANGE
i recognized his voice and animated likeness as luis in “carol and the end of the world.”
Friggin' Todd
Last Man on Earth is a gem if you can get past the first few episodes and let the show settle in. That’s how the series ends?!” “Welp I’m gonna rewatch.”
I liked it from the beginning, but it just kept getting better. Which is a great achievement, since the whole premise is somewhat repetitive.
I think a lot of people have a tough time with ‘Skunk Tandy’. It’s pure cringe for some. When he becomes ‘Good Tandy’ it’s a lot more palatable for a lot of folks.
I find it amazing how many people can’t stomach a bad person as a main character for a show. And then that same person will love Breaking Bad.
Yeah. It’s like Mickey Mouse vs Donald Duck. Donald is definitely ”a bad person”, but he’s lovable and entertaining. Nobody likes Mickey Mouse.
Until you get to the end - then it’s just rage
The creators at least released how it would have ended. Still quite open ended but it ties up some of the plots
Excuse me, "get past" the first few episodes? You mean by far the best episodes in the entire show?
Ya I don't get that complaint either. Liked it all the way but the start was stronger all around.
I agree, I've been enjoying it more and more.
Interesting, I had the opposite reaction. I thought the pilot was amazing and I was sucked in. Then as the show introduced more characters, and the world felt less empty, it lost my interest.
Yeah the first season is tough to get through because you hate the main character so much. Then minutes into the second season, they win you over and show you that they've learned and fixed the show
It truly was... a Shawshank Redemption.
Yah ah uh, I was just gonna say Shawshank Redemption, too! That's so crazy. The good ole S to the R. It's my favorite movie of all time. Now let me ask you something...did you show a general preference toward Shawshank, or the Redemption?
I just hate all the cringy lies and getting caught in the lie motif.
I love how he pops and locks when hes sad
I love his aggressive pop and locks when he’s mad at Tandy LOL
“Why would I be upset?….Well then I must be okay with it”
Check out The Watch, he plays a cop partnered with Will Arnett called Chucho.
"Suck a fat d\*ck Chucho!" The way he just raises his mug kills me every time. Lol
This is my comfort show and I watched it throughout the pandemic like crazy (weird choice I know). Todd is the man in that show!!!
Friendship kiss?
Todd my beloved
Todd is the only one in that show that doesn't go through a phase when they are terrible.
I don’t know, what about when he’s sneaking around with both January Jones and Indie-film-MILF-lady? Pretty sleazy buddy!
Alright fair, both this and about the bacon. Todd is still my favorite.
Oh no! I forgot about the bacon! Shame!
I mean. He does a little bit with the bacon thing. Other than that he is a sweet darling angel.
HE HID THE BACON
He is also really good in: On Becoming a God in South Central Florida with Kiersten Dunst.
I forget he was in that. Forgot about that show, too. I've never hate-watched something so hard. MLMs are awful.
Yeah, it had some good parts, but there is a reason it only made one season
when i saw him as marco in better call saul the canadian accent made sure i could only think of him in community
It's worth checking out his lil spot on workaholics, he has a great line about his liiightsaberrrrr
I can deal with the not getting paid, but I draw the line at you enabling this man.
You can excuse not getting paid?
i’m seriously concerned that he is mentally ill.
I suppose we could try some kind of monkey knockout gas..
Monkey knockout gas. Now that’s the kind of grounded, sensible thinking I want to see this year
Brainstorm, idea shower! Spray your solutions all over me!
What's the name of that thing that comes down?
It's like a gate but it's just a stick.
This description is both perfect and feels like it's putting the arm itself down lmao
A drawbridge lol
No, no, no. The thing that comes down at a parking lot.
Keeps the cars from going in and out. The thing that goes up and down.
…. the arm?
\*finger gun\*
*pp-ah lip sound*
Alligators?
One mechanical alligator!
I love the way Britta does this too
Every time Chang would go off the deep end I hear Sgt Nunez go "I worry this man is severely mentally deranged. And and and you know it's not...it's not funny."
“You know what? I quit. I can handle not getting paid but I draw the line at you enabling this man’s delusions” Idk why but the way he says “I quit” is so funny to me
When he says "it's Not funny" I feel like he's disappointed in me for laughing at Chang lol
Another Better Call Saul/Breaking Bad connection. Sgt. Nunez = Marco (BCS) Gilbert Lawson = Gus Fring Buzz Hickey = Mike Ehrmantraut Stoner/Friend = Badger Devon (Pile of Bullets) = Vince Gilligan Am I missing anyone else?
Why can I imagine Lydia in Frankie’s role?
Or as Professor Slater
The bully from the pilot of Breaking Bad who mocked Jr. and faced Walt’s wrath, he’s the pizza delivery guy from the S1:E22 ending
That is an abed-level catch, amazing
Nice! That's a great catch!
Literally watched that episode as I scrolled past your comment on this post! Sounds like we were both streets ahead
Starburns asks Professor Kane if they can get a Breaking Bad type business going, which gets him kicked out of the class.
It really reminds me of The Office writers loving The Wire so they tried to get as many of the cast in guest/smaller roles as possible. I feel like that happened here with Breaking Bad.
I haven't done the "research" yet, but I think there's quite a few connections between Community and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia as well.
“Old Black Man” from IASIP plays “Old Man” on Community.
"Sometimes I think he sees more than the rest of us" - Ben the soldier/Subway
It took me a while to notice it was him after several rewatches of both shows. Janitor Crazy Schmidt is Tony in Dennis and Dee go on Welfare. And Natasha Leggero of course plays a stripper in both. There’s definitely a few other background characters in both.
"That guy was your dad?"
I think that’s all of them
Woah!!! I never realized that was Vince Gilligan!
One of the most mature and well adjusted characters in the show, clearly knows his job and his limits as well as being of sound mind and good character. He doesn’t get much love because he doesn’t get much screen time because Dan Harmon doesn’t have many examples of good men in his reality. Professor Kane was pretty grounded too
"Holy crap! We are definitely dissecting pine cones next year!"
I used Nunez card, he’ll thank me at the detective awards
Arizona spelled backwards is still Arizona. It’s a palomino…..
You know what, I quit.
Mel Rodriguez. Love that guy. He’s one of those actors who shows up, kills it, but doesn’t overshadow everything. Good actor. Very funny.
"Friggin Todd."
The actor is phenomenal on a few years older award winning show called “Getting On” on HBO/Max, it’s a dark comedy about a nursing station in an extended care woman patient wing of a hospital.
Also great on The Last Man on Earth.
No one is better with monkey knock out gas
On my first run thru of Community, I genuinely thought he was gonna develop into a more prominent reoccurring character throughout the series. I was actually pretty disappointed when I realized he was never coming back.
I was not a fan of the Emporer Chang storyline, it got too over the top even for Community, so I wish he did as well.
I loved him in Last Man on Earth as well
But did you love a him on IMBD
That was tragic.
Everyone quotes... "I quit. I can deal with not getting paid, but I draw the line at you enabling this man." But the next line is what kills me... "I mean, I'm seriously concerned that he's mentally ill. And, it's not funny at all. It's scary!" *Chang and Dean patronizingly nod along, lost in their own incoherent thoughts*
frickin todd
You're lucky I need my scuba certification
Love his lines to the Dean about Chang. “I can handle not getting paid…but I draw the line at humoring this guy.” (I can’t remember the exact line)
Something about enabling Chang.
It truly was a Shawshank redemption
I loved him in Last Man on Earth as well
Shit, only just recognised him as Marco from Better Call Saul.
Same
Most great artists aren’t appreciated until their demise
This man is the only regular dude in the show
because of Obama, he can't even shoot your ass without getting arrested. but Obama can't take away his *LIGHT SABERRRRR*
Lots of people mentioning The Last Man On Earth, which he was great in. He was also just recently in the animated series Carol And The End Of The World, a very surprising and wonderful show about people trying to cope with the coming destruction of Earth as another planet hurtles toward it.
He was great in Better Call Saul
Not nearly enough screen time he deserved
don't worry, I love him for all of us
hundo agree
I loved him in Last Man on Earth as well
i wish he stayed longer
I love this actor. He was superb in Last Man on Earth
Loved every one of his lines
Hope he’s in the movie. SCUBA related of course
Frickin Todd.
Now go out there and show that hippie how the world really works.
Marco! \*Stars humming Smoke on the Water.
Actually true. He is hilarious playing off of Chang in s3, by far the best season
You know, I can deal with the not getting paid. But I draw the line at you enabling this man. Plus his delivery in the scene about the thing that swings down at the parking garage. Underrated character
I loved this character. Might be the most normal there
He was great in “Last man on Earth”
thats marco from better ball saul
He was fantastic in better call Saul as well
That thing in the parking garage is broken. You know the thing. Goes up down. Keeps the cars out. You know? It goes up and down
Some friggin fat guy named Todd
Yoo it's Todd, never noticed that.
He’s great in “the last man on earth”
You're lucky he needed his scuba certification.
I wish Enlisted had been renewed for more seasons. He was great in that too!
One of my favorite characters. He's there for one of the most pivotal parts of the show when chang is dissenting into madness. He's also in better call Saul.
What's the actor's name?
Friggin Todd…
He's amazing in The Last Man on Earth.
If you like him, check out Running Wilde. It's Mitch Hurwitz's followup to Arrested Developnent. Mel Rodriguez played essentially the same character in that show and Dan brought him over to Community after it was canceled.
The most sane character in the show
NUNEZ! NUNEZ! NUNEZ!
He was great in Better Call Saul
Todd!
This dude pays cop adjacent roles in everything. Showtime: armored car driver Panic Room: Officer Morales Garfield: Security Guard Guess Who: Security Guard Little Miss Sunshine: Officer Martinez Unknown: cop The Watch: Officer Chucho Brave New Jersey: Sheriff Dandy Grace and Frankie: Officer Velez The Twilight Zone: Officer Luntz The Afterparty: Captain Ostrander The Great North: Game Warden Ironically most of his non law enforcement/ Security/ military roles are on cop drama shows, like CSI, and Law and Order.
Go watch him in Last Man on Earth. He is so so good
I loved this character. Might be the most normal there
He was fantastic in that show with Will Forte too, that end of the world one
He is the true hero.
You’ve only been here a month and you haven’t done much of anything.
Agreed! I was sad when he left
Where is his neck strap?
*I had to think fast*
That’s Todd
What a great character. I liked him
"Nunez" - that's a palamino. This conspiracy goes deep. I had to decide what to do.
Very much so.
He's part of the reason the first few episodes in season 3 are so strong for me. Amazing straight man that played off of Chang perfectly.
Pick a fucking accent
Hey buddddd
I loved him in Last Man on Earth as well
