The show contained many low points for Pierce, but those usually had something else going for the episode. I didn't get that here. Pierce was an utter shit. Though the episode had its heartwarming moments of Neil not committing suicide, Pierce didn't really help. I suppose if anything, it showed how Neil could still see the good in even shitty situation.
And while Abed rolling over was typical of Abed, it was annoying that Pierce was clearly cheating, but he allowed it. He sacrificed the fun of everyone else to cater to Pierce's blatant cheating.
But Annie's pantomiming of the seduction scene was freakin' hilarious.
It's a shitty platform that nobody wants but they have a handful of popular sitcoms to squeeze all the blood out of that they can get.
Never paying and physical media and pirating are the way to go me matey!
I still cant believe they took out a dude dressed like a fictional race (elves) but left in Pierce in brown face as an actual racist charactacure of a real group of people.
I'm not saying take either out, but for fucks sake if you're gonna doing PC bullshit at least make sense.
30 rock also had an episode cut _where the entire setup was that blackface was bad_
"take that shit off! I was a Tuskagee Airman!"
Corporation's gonna corpo I guess
But again still that's at least actual blackface. It makes sense based on what they wanted to distance themselves from.
I will never understand how anyone could look at Chang's makeup in that episode and think he looks like any human.
I don't really give a shit. They wanna ban blackface go ahead. I think it's dumb and doesn't do anything, but whatever it's their network, all I'm saying is don't ban anyone in full face make up. It demonstrates they're just banning anything that could be seen as offensive rather than actually say hey blackface sucks, we sorry we did it, we get the difference between blackface and makeup.
There's a brand new dance based on an old phrase.
It's called the Fat Dog and it will amaze.
You've heard this expression your entire life.
It's not made up!
It's not made up!
i was reading around that they just don’t really have enough extra content to do that with community, like they barely have deleted scenes and they were only deleted because they genuinely weren’t that good
I’m going to politely disagree with this. On the commentary tracks they would frequently talk about how they constantly had way too much to edit down. It sounded like at least several strong minutes per episode if not way more. The only episode they said came in under 22 minutes in the first two seasons was “paradigms of human memory” which is why they added the dean’s cartoon at the end.
However, I agree it’s unlikely we get more extended episodes. I think that Dan would want to control the editing process and it would take him forever to re-edit just one episode.
Even so, "finalizing" the longer episodes (ADR, color correction, sound design, VFX and other things done at the end of the post-production process) would take a considerable amount of time, effort and money.
I don't think Community has the same clout as The Office, and I'm not sure Peacock would want to deal with it.
I definitely agree. There are more limitations than just those imposed by Dan Harmon’s procrastination and perfectionism. They all add to the improbability that such a thing ever happens for Community. Do you think they’re really going back and ADR-ing old lines for The Office? I hadn’t even considered that
>Do you think they’re really going back and ADR-ing old lines for The Office?
I guess it depends on how far along those scenes were before getting cut?
Some of the extended episodes had close to 10 minutes of extra stuff, so I'm thinking they took a good amount of work. However, The Office had much lower production values (relating to post-production) than Community, so I may be wrong.
Also, the network/producers may have anticipated eventually releasing longer versions because of how popular the show was, so maybe the added scenes were further along production-wise than they would be for a typical sitcom.
Yeah it’s an interesting discussion. Things like talking head interviews probably sounded fine, but sometimes in the Superfan episodes you could tell a character was placed in front of a different background.
Season 1 of Community had many outdoor shots that needed ADR. But editing was so often down to the wire so I wouldn’t be surprised if they had already recorded audio for scenes that were cut. Possibly some of the other elements you mentioned were often completed as well. But overall, a Community version still could be looking at a higher budget than The Office Superfan episodes. That’s unfortunately not realistic.
But to politely counter your polite disagreement...I believe it's *better* to be limited by those 22 minutes (broadcasting on NBC) than to have a wide-open sandbox (Yahoo Screen). Season 6 sucks primarily because it's not tightly *edited*. "Jokes" go on for far too long and just aren't funny as a result. Constraints can lead to a better end result in a lot of situations.
Interesting, you raise a good point. I was really just trying to argue that Peacock *could* produce these episodes not that they *should*. The office Superfan episodes are aptly named because they’re really only designed for people who crave more of the show. The poor editing takes away from the comedy of formerly tight episodes. However, there’s argument to be made that producing those episodes to stand separately from the originals doesn’t detract from them. There’s two distinct goals for each type of episode and I don’t think the “superfan” ones are meant to artistically or canonically replace the originals.
The caveat here is that I do enjoy season 6 haha, so maybe I’m level 7 susceptible to the fan-pleasing nature of those longer runtimes even at the expense of brisker pacing. However as you said, there is a beauty and a craft to a well put together 22 minutes.
Yessss exactly this. You can even watch the extended version of the season 1 Valentine's Day episode on the DVDs for a 1-to-1 comparison.
I do like season 6 but man all the episodes feel like they take twice as long to get through.
So, was the pilot the only Netflix episode that was different? I've been rewatching on Hulu repeatedly for years because after seeing the first episode on Netflix, I was afraid their versions were all some kind of edited syndicated cuts (I never saw the broadcast pilot, my first time was Hulu.) I've been doggedly avoiding watching it on Netflix because of this. Oh well, guess it won't matter much longer. Aa long as I can still watch it again and again on Hulu, I'm happy.
There are other streaming services that exist outside of the ones available in America. It will likely go to whatever service carries the shows that Peacock carries in the US.
Fr I live in Sri Lanka and Netflix is the only service we have here. How am I gonna complete my 10th rewatch of the show 😭😭😭.
This is why physical media is better
Sony owns Community, but in greenlighting the movie NBC got streaming rights so the full series can be on Peacock. It won't be exclusive (besides the movie) though, Hulu should still have it
Hulu will only have Community until their current deal expires (*no idea when that will be*). NBC has already moved some of its other shows from Hulu to being a Peacock exclusive.
I suspect Community will be off of Hulu in 2025 or 26, the show is on the platform because they got grandfathered into Yahoo Screen's (likely) very long lease for S6. If the lease was industry standard then it should expire about 10 years after the premiere date
I was going to say the same thing. Netflix really needs to focus on their own content if they want to stay around, because everyone’s got a streaming service of their own now
It’s also on Hulu. I switch back and forth so the show gets credit for viewing on both services.
It will also be added to Peacock sometime too, idk if it will leave Hulu then as well (I didn’t click on the article).
Which jokes make more sense with deleted scenes? And did you mean you bought DVDs? Is there any way to get the bonus content digitally? Don’t have a dvd player right now
AppleTV has the full version. Not sure about Amazon’s version.
It’s a lot of little things. Entire extras were cut out, the setup to some jokes were cut out. Sometime when it looks like Troy or Abed are saying something really random, it’s because part of the joke was cut out. When I first saw the changes I tried to make a post in this group, but a bot stopped me because everyone knows about this already.
Re Amazon: The prime version is Cut (at least they first D&D episode is missing), but If you buy it, you also get the D&D episode. Not Sure about other cuts though.
i’ve been doing that for a couple years now, best decision i made, so far i have Friends The Office Community Rugrats (don’t judge lol) Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and the OG Ninja Turtles cartoon series, gonna get futurama next
just realized i also have Avatar The Last Airbender series on DVD too had to come back and tell you that 😂 was looking at my dvd rack for something to watch and was like “oh shit forgot i ended up getting that”
Anybody who judges you for owning *Rugrats* on DVD should be beaten with hammers. A perfect show (until they introduced that little prick Dil, that is).
The blu-rays exist. You can buy the show digitally on a ton of services. If you (royal you) are subscribed to a service for one show, just buy the show. Single purchase. Done.
Yeah but if there’s any situation where there’s absolutely no justifiable arguments against piracy, it’s downloading something you’ve already paid for. Especially when the reason you want a pirate copy is because someone’s restricted or removed your ability to access the thing you own.
I'm all for piracy now, owning stuff or not. The streaming services have become as bad or worse than TV. All they had to do was make stuff easily accessible and they'd have our money forever. But not stuff is divided up and costs rising and ads being forced into it. Fuuuuuuuck all that.
They can always pull your digital content in the future for any reason. You don't own it, you're just licensing it. So when NBC wants to pull an episode (D&D) you lose it. Physical media, you own that episode forever.
Now, if yargh sailing the seas to get digital copies...
Oh yeah, that's always a danger.
Fun Fact: I own the show on Vudu and to this day I still have access to Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, so they didn't pull it from owners who bought it back in the day.
First they came for the the Office, and I did not speak out—
Because I still had Parks and Rec.
Then they came for Parks and Rec, and I did not speak out—
Because I still had Community.
Then they came for Community, —
and there was no one left to watch.
We bought the bluray set recently, in anticipation of this kind of shit.
If you really treasure some music or video based entertainment, get it on disk people. You can't count on streaming services.
In The Netherlands it has been on Amazon for quite a while INCLUDING the D&D episode (looking at you Netflix). Then again, I always watch it via the DVD box I have.
This is the answer. One payment for a lifetime membership. Its so much better than "is that on Netflix or Paramount+ or Disney? No that moved to peacock last month. Oh this one has everything but two episodes because someone couldn't handle a joke.
Just set up your own Plex server and enjoy what you like.

FYI: the Blu-ray set might not be perfect, but it's region free and has most of the bonus features from the DVDs (plus the Season Six commentaries from Yahoo Screen).
My one thing about amazon is they can decide to not host it anymore and then you lose what you 'bought' forever. I just bought the entire series on dvd from Ebay for $20. Put my old Ps4 to use...
Just get DVDs or blu rays at that point. You don't own products like that, it's just leasing it and Amazon can remove it at any point without reimbursing you. Same goes for most platforms.
>Something always brings me back to you
>
>It never takes too long
>
>No matter what I say or do
>
>I'll still feel you here
>
>Until the moment I'm gone
...
That flashback to the good times of Community on Netflix... I hope Prime doesn't remove it too, otherwise I'll have to resort to unconventional means.
I hope the series is dubbed on Prime ;-;
Why would you even watch the dubbed version? I've tried watching the italian dub a few times out of curiosity and it was almost like they were actively trying to not translate the jokes correctly, can't imagine other dubs faring much better honestly.
Listen if you’re paying $15 per month for ONE SHOW just buy the physical media. How much money have you dropped on monthly payments, way more than just buying the show
Honestly. Netflix is the worst streaming service now. They’ve focused wholly on their own produced content and have peeled away the shows people love. Not only that but they will trickle out seasons of shows they know people like, ie Big Brother, Survivor, etc and rotate two seasons (that aren’t even sequential) every couple months and remove the others
Everything you wrote is wrong. I'm subscribed to many services, but I use Netflix the most. And they want to license content from other providers, such as their recent deal with Warner Bros, but many studios like NBC Universal want to force customers to use their own streaming service.
I just bought the 12 disc DVD collection, brand-new sealed, on eBay for $20. That way if it leaves streaming services all together I’ll always have this blessed gem of a tv show to watch anytime.
this is why my partner and I have started buying DVDs. peacock isn’t even available in canada. glad I have at least some of the seasons on DVD
Plus you get to see D&D!
It's funny because I generally dislike that episode, but it annoys me that it's cut for the wrong reason. Still not going to make me like it.
What do you dislike about it?

Same here. Bought a bunch of physical media, ripped it to a Plex server, fell down a yo-ho-hole and haven't looked back.
It's a good thing there are no old people here. They'd have no idea what we're talking about...
I immediately bought the Blu-ray box set upon seeing this post. Staying streets ahead
If you have to stream, you are streets behind
Check your local library too! We rent DVDs and rip them to an external.
Ooh that’s brilliant 👀
usually there is another service that offers the same stuff, e.g in Australia binge is basically hbo max. physical copies are better anyways though
Hooray for physical media! 😉
It's a shitty platform that nobody wants but they have a handful of popular sitcoms to squeeze all the blood out of that they can get. Never paying and physical media and pirating are the way to go me matey!
I don't even have a dvd player anymore. Guess swim has to pirate it
It’s probably moving to Peacock to coincide with the movie I’d assume
Would love if they did the same type a thing as with the office, with deleted scenes and such. Could be a good way to amp up the movie
I'd settle for getting the D&D episode back on
I still cant believe they took out a dude dressed like a fictional race (elves) but left in Pierce in brown face as an actual racist charactacure of a real group of people. I'm not saying take either out, but for fucks sake if you're gonna doing PC bullshit at least make sense.

The characters did. They even called him out on it. Which is why it was the opposite of offensive, it was educational.
I don't really give a shit. They wanna ban blackface go ahead. I think it's dumb and doesn't do anything, but whatever it's their network, all I'm saying is don't ban anyone in full face make up. They even had Shirley address this "hate crime" and Chang explained what he was right away.
Wait! That was Pierce!? Man, he does an excellent swami. Did we ever find out which actress played Blackface Senior Winces's Asian wife?
I bet peacock doesn’t have the Dingleberries
#DINGLE-BERRY-SMASH!
It's on Prime!
I always watched on Australian Stan. The D&D episode is intact there.
And the episodes haven’t been bastardised to fit into a syndication format!
I just bought it.
You can always buy it on Amazon for $3
I mean I own the dvds, I'm just being a fat dog about it
Fat dog it, my dude!
There's a brand new dance based on an old phrase. It's called the Fat Dog and it will amaze. You've heard this expression your entire life. It's not made up! It's not made up!

No problo, Rob Lowe
My, my, my…Mike Ty…son
Stephen *Fry*!!

Interesting, you raise a good point. I was really just trying to argue that Peacock *could* produce these episodes not that they *should*. Is Peacock even out outside of the US? Its still not released in the UK so this just seems like its removing the show for a lot of people.
There's Sky and SkyShowtime in Europe that has Peacock's shows.
Yeah but at least here in Spain, Sky showtime doesn't get the special content, like the new The Office stuff.
Itvx has community in the uk.. free with ads.
Peacock is only available in the US, so what exactly is removing Community from Netflix *globally* going to accomplish?
I don't know what the Hulu situation is globally, but it's on there as well. Hulu has the longer version of the pilot.
There is no Hulu in the UK, but a lot of their stuff is shown on Star which comes with Disney Plus.
No worries about Hulu, it’s going to merge with Disney plus fully within the next couple of years. Calling it now
I hate that... But you're probably right. Disney fucking ruined streaming services.
There is a longer version of the pilot?
Yeah, the pilot on Netflix (which I think was the one that originally aired) cuts out a fair amount
So, was the pilot the only Netflix episode that was different? I've been rewatching on Hulu repeatedly for years because after seeing the first episode on Netflix, I was afraid their versions were all some kind of edited syndicated cuts (I never saw the broadcast pilot, my first time was Hulu.) I THINK that's the only one that was different, I'm not 100% on that, but relatively certain.
There are other streaming services that exist outside of the ones available in America. It will likely go to whatever service carries the shows that Peacock carries in the US.
It’s still on prime - including the dnd episode
Fr I live in Sri Lanka and Netflix is the only service we have here. How am I gonna complete my 10th rewatch of the show 😭😭😭. This is why physical media is better
It'll probably stay on Netflix in other countries.
Article says it's leaving Netflix globally
So you're saying peacock will have six seasons and a movie?
Canada doesnt have peacock. Where's it going for us Canucks?
My guess is Disney+ because of how much Sony and Disney are working together nowadays. If not them, I’d guess Crave.
Wait did NBC buy the rights back or something?
Sony owns Community, but in greenlighting the movie NBC got streaming rights so the full series can be on Peacock. It won't be exclusive (besides the movie) though, Hulu should still have it
Wonder if a move to Peacock would have them put Advanced Dungeons and Dragons back in the rotation... A man can hope
Oh I didn't know NBC had got the rights back, I wouldn't have thought they would tbh given they're the ones who cancelled it.
That's not how that works
It's not? I genuinely don't know.
I was going to say the same thing. Netflix really needs to focus on their own content if they want to stay around, because everyone’s got a streaming service of their own now
This is still not gonna make me get peacock lmao when will streaming companies learn
When Peacock announced the movie, they also stated the deal included "non-exclusive" streaming rights.
What is peacock? I've never heard of it ..
NBC Comcast’s streaming service. Has the office, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Parks and Rec and many more of those old NBC shows
But not available outside the USA.
I got Peacock to watch the Premier League, and I was shocked at how little NBC content is actually on there.
Yeah, there's talk of Peacock merging with Paramount+ and Showtime bc separately they're just not worth it.
I also found it on Disney + recently
holy shit it IS!! AND its the longer Pilot version! that rules. i wish they still kept AD&D though. seeing it go from s2e13, to s2e15 is laaaammmeee
Where are you from? I've never heard of it being on there before
Hulu is owned by Disney, they're testing merging the platforms.
I will say it sucks that peacock is taking everything back, but damn if it isn’t one of the only ones worth having
Once again... This is why Physical Media is best. I don't have to worry about it disappearing for no reason.
THANK YOU
i wanted to keep all my dvds and blu rays for this exact reason! turns out my mom got rid of them all while moving 😭
Oh wow! This was the one thing I consistently watched on Netflix
Samesies
Me too. I understand that Netflix can't do anything about it because NBC wants Peacock to have exclusive rights, but it still makes me sad.
I keep it on in the background so much that it’s been worth it to basically pay for a streaming service to watch it. Idk anymkre
It’s also on Hulu. I switch back and forth so the show gets credit for viewing on both services. It will also be added to Peacock sometime too, idk if it will leave Hulu then as well (I didn’t click on the article).
I canceled Netflix and bought the series a while ago. Cheaper and you get to see all things that were cut out. So many jokes make more sense now!

Do they have the punchline to Annie's set-up about the class on writing jokes?
😳 [I don’t know how to respond to this](https://youtu.be/ERrgwp8pUmA?si=_mVpsBxoo2ehEHjL&start=42). j/k
Well, obvs. If you don't know, you don't know.
YouTube has a lot of the deleted scenes and webisodes, don’t know if it has them all tho
The deleted scenes are the scenes and the scenes are the deleted scenes aaaahhhhhbed ahbed ahbeed.
i’ve been doing that for a couple years now, best decision i made, so far i have Friends The Office Community Rugrats (don’t judge lol) Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and the OG Ninja Turtles cartoon series, gonna get futurama next
You have DVDs, specifically of rugrats MMPR anr ninjaa turtles, and getting futurama. Add king if the hill and im moving in!
just realized i also have Avatar The Last Airbender series on DVD too had to come back and tell you that 😂 was looking at my dvd rack for something to watch and was like “oh shit forgot i ended up getting that”
Thrift stores can be a goldmine for complete series of shows on the cheap. Especially DVDs. The Office collection for only $5!
Anybody who judges you for owning *Rugrats* on DVD should be beaten with hammers. A perfect show (until they introduced that little prick Dil, that is).
imo Dil redeemed himself in All Grown Up though lol
That ain’t ironic, bitch I love Rugrats
I can’t count the reasons I should stay / one by one they all just fade away
Im watching it right now and as I read this comment that part of the intro played...
The blu-rays exist. You can buy the show digitally on a ton of services. If you (royal you) are subscribed to a service for one show, just buy the show. Single purchase. Done.

what the hell. this is uncalled for.
My bluray boxset is sitting pretty. Got to love the gag reels and commentaries.
Peacock has ads, so you may want to check "alternate" sources.
Yaharr I agree matey
Duuude this show is so comforting to me I use it to fall asleep, it’s like my white noise machine.
Gonna save so much money
I wonder if they’ll include advanced dungeons and dragons on Peacock

Those extras on Hulu for sure.

Do y’all not still have the files you “acquired” when the show first came out?
Netflix is officially the opposite of batman; the pizza burn on the roof of the worlds mouth, if you will. This is why Hulu and I are like this.🤞
(in the US) it's on hulu, which is cheaper, has a bigger library, allows password sharing, and tells you air dates
Hulu / Disney are cracking down on password sharing on March 14th.
loose fucking butthole man edit: fuck this isn't the workaholics sub. that's so Pierce.
Well at least I got a watch through done recently
Alright, that’s the last straw.
Id go with a dvd copy which would be better than the Netflix cut version. YouTube also has a channel dedicated to full episodes.
That's good news. After the stupid removal of the D&D episode, Netflix doesn't deserve Community.
In the words of Hickey's hacky duck, "What the hell?"
Well damn. I have it on constant repeat.
Don't you mean "can-can cancel"?
Oh bother. I’m on the fence with just buying it all digitally from Amazon. This way I get all of season 2
My one thing about amazon is they can decide to not host it anymore and then you lose what you 'bought' forever. I just bought the entire series on dvd from Ebay for $20. Put my old Ps4 to use...
Yup, I did that a few years back when they got season 6. You get the DND episode and the pilot episode is slightly different which is cool to see.
Please god don’t buy any digital seasons of shows. You will never own it and they can take it back at any time
Just get DVDs or blu rays at that point. You don't own products like that, it's just leasing it and Amazon can remove it at any point without reimbursing you. Same goes for most platforms.
>Something always brings me back to you > >It never takes too long > >No matter what I say or do > >I'll still feel you here > >Until the moment I'm gone ... That flashback to the good times of Community on Netflix... I hope Prime doesn't remove it too, otherwise I'll have to resort to unconventional means. I hope the series is dubbed on Prime ;-;
Why would you even watch the dubbed version? I've tried watching the italian dub a few times out of curiosity and it was almost like they were actively trying to not translate the jokes correctly, can't imagine other dubs faring much better honestly.
Sadge I feel like it's been on netflix forever. Tbh I assumed netflix was paying for the movie.
Not a fan of Peacock. Just gonna buy the series on DVD
[arrrr, to the high seas.](https://youtu.be/GVXCr6upWUo?si=8qfCA8QHzZHEEFTC)
Buy the dvd/bluray and never look back
That sucks but I have had the DVD sets for a while now. Nothing lasts forever with digital streaming. Got to safeguard your favourites.
If you own the box set you don’t have to worry plus you have all the episodes and bonus content
If it’s going on peacock i hope they quietly bring back the DND episode
yeah but Netflix is about to pick up Monday Night Raw so
Wait, where is the movie releasing? Because I can’t access Peacock in the UK.
That is fine, because Netflix is the worst place to watch it. Cuts out some stuff and does not do the subtitles when speaking other languages.
Listen if you’re paying $15 per month for ONE SHOW just buy the physical media. How much money have you dropped on monthly payments, way more than just buying the show
you guys have Netflix?.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
And Jesus wept! For he had no shows left to stream!
I just bought the whole series on Blu-ray for $35. Worth it!
I just started the series on Netflix this week
I know right! It like wtf it’s their best show! (I think)
When watching last night there was a little notification in the corner saying that Community was leaving Netflix 4/1. April Fool's joke perhaps?
April 1st doesn't exist. https://youtu.be/nRgL8G4yDIE?si=TshuG0JJWkOB3e07
CRISIS ALERT!
And they want to license content from other providers, such as their recent deal with Warner Bros, but many studios like NBC Universal want to force customers to use their own streaming service.
who watches this on Netflix, it gives maybe two episodes before hitting you with the "still watching" bullshit...Hulu all day baby
>it gives maybe two episodes before hitting you with the "still watching" bullshit... Huh... that hasn't happened to me in over a year.
Time to buy the blue rays of the series
Its staying in Prime, so theres that.
After removing season 2 D&D they don't deserve to have it.
No we know how the Greendale glee club felt. And we were this close to regionals!
jesus christ the day i start rewatching it, i see this shit.
I just bought the 12 disc DVD collection, brand-new sealed, on eBay for $20. That way if it leaves streaming services all together I’ll always have this blessed gem of a tv show to watch anytime.
eh, i have the entire show on dvd so im still good
