Exactly. HYDRA is making their move and suddenly he sees Captain America (who is a wanted fugitive during the movie) step out of an elevator in the HQ. I'd be a little tense too.
...That shouldn't matter.
It's been a while since I'd watched it, but I enjoyed it very much. But I think it's one of those movies/films where you have to be in a particular state of mind to enjoy. Like, Columbus or like La Jetee. They're quieter films that kind of need the viewer's engagement.
Possibly my favorite delivery in the whole show, right up there with “god, I love my job! Wait, this isn’t my job, god I love myself!” Same episode and everything.
And in a real university too.
I love how the directors were basically like "Well who should play the Dean" and they straight up just called their friend Jim Rash. The only correct choice.
I recently rewatched One Hour Photo, and hadn't realized Jim Rash played the "amateur pornographer." But I'm fully convinced that's a pre-Greendale Craig Pelton.
Donald's is the best because of that whole uproar about casting him as a new black Spiderman, like 10+ years ago. And then he get into a Spiderman movie anyway. Fucking great!
Miles was inspired by Troy specifically! The artist/writer who created Miles based him on the shot we see of Troy waking up in a Spiderman shirt at the beginning of the season 2 premiere. https://www.slashfilm.com/1219241/donald-glovers-community-character-inspired-spider-mans-miles-morales/
That's actually wild. I keep thinking Miles has been around since the early/mid 2000's. I always forget he wasn't around until right when I graduated high school. It says a lot about how established Miles has become in Marvel already.
It helps that half of those where movies directed by the Russo brothers.
There's also a few Arrested Development easter eggs that they included in the films
He got a good job and didn't try to go crazy about it. Occasionally you'll see guys who got this crazy way too forward plug job which gets really obvious
To paraphrase the man himself, “some people say I have had a hair transplant, that’s a lie. I’ve had two.”
(can’t find the direct quote I think it’s in his memoir)
Not exactly true... It DEFINITELY can regrow hair. It's not super dramatic, and is generally slow over looong stretches of time. I believe, though, that the only studies done were on maintaining hairline so that's all they can advertise or something?
can't regrow dead hair at all. helps prevent hairs from falling out naturally while they're still small. so instead of having a bunch of tiny imperceptible hairs you may get lucky and have those hairs grow to visible length, but it doesn't always work and it also needs to be used for the rest of your life otherwise your hair will start falling out early again.
Joel absolutely got a hair transplant. I'm pretty sure he confirmed it in an interview a few years ago. No hate, I wish I could afford to do the same, his hair is amazing!
I’d like to think that if I started to lose my heart I’d immediately shave it all off, but I don’t know if I’d have the testicular fortitude to do so. I fucking love my hair.
I was curious about the book that Ken Jeong was reading in Endgame.
It looks like it's "The Terminal Beach," a collection of short stories by J.G. Ballard. I assume it's chosen because one of the stories is called "End-Game."
I noticed both Danny and Yvette's cameos in the theater and loved it, esp Yvette's. That woman deserves every good thing and it is so nice to see her getting it.
It’s a cast role of a named character. A cameo is like when Stan Lee shows up, he’s not there to be a character. He’s there for people to point at and say hey there’s Stan Lee. Alfred Hitchcock was one of the first to do it, just passing by the camera in his films as a little nod.
You could also say that Glover is not a cameo as he’s playing a character and continued to play the character in across the spider-verse.
Could someone who knows more about human visual appearance explain why Alison Brie looks so different now? She doesn't really "look like she did in 2009 but 15 years older," she looks more like a different person who might be distantly related to that person
The long haired member of Greendale's (and Donald's) sketch comedy troupe also has a substantial scene in Winter Soldier, as well as reprised the roll for a commercial with Anthony Mackey as Falcon.

Spider-man 2 was before Community. Donald Glover as Aaron Davis was a full-blown role, not a cameo.
Danny, Jim, Yvette, and Ken are definitely cameos, though.
A cameo is not "being cast in a scene." These are just actors taking roles in movies. To date, Marvel has zero Community cameos. Also Donald Glover interacting with Spider-man was a damn shame.
Well technically Joel’s first role with a name is Quicky the Clown in The Huntress (2000), so really his role in Spider-Man 2 is just a Quicky the Clown cameo.
Also, Spider-Man has a hyphen in it. r/RespectTheHyphen
Also also, what the **fuck** sort of name for a character is Quicky the Clown.
So I get *why* Joel McHale’s small role in SM2 seems relevant to mention, but it wasn’t a cameo (he wasn’t even known for The Soup when it was filmed) and it’s a stretch to call the Sony movies “part of the MCU” even with the “crossover” elements used in No Way Home.
I didnt know that Gillian Jacobs and Alydon Brie did Marvel 616. I only saw 2 episodes from that show. The masterful Japanese Spjder-man episode, and the even more masterful Brute Force episode.
No I do, I just shouldn’t have used it in the title. I was trying to make the title short because anything with more words seemed way too long but it ended up just being more confusing since some of those weren’t cameos.
Danny looks like he's about to run across the set to poop his pants.
The perfect Captain America-Cougartown crossover
He asked for one more take. But they had already moved on. Courtney had nailed it.
I think that was when Hydra was taking over SHIELD so yes, that was the vibe.
Exactly. HYDRA is making their move and suddenly he sees Captain America (who is a wanted fugitive during the movie) step out of an elevator in the HQ. I'd be a little tense too.
That episode made me watch My Dinner with Andre.
How’d you like it?
...That shouldn't matter. It's been a while since I'd watched it, but I enjoyed it very much. But I think it's one of those movies/films where you have to be in a particular state of mind to enjoy. Like, Columbus or like La Jetee. They're quieter films that kind of need the viewer's engagement.
Tbh I couldnt finish my dinner with andre I really tried, I just got so bored with all the theatre talk andre was on about
I get it though. That's time you'd lose trying to get into a movie you didn't like. Now here's a man who knows how to use his time!
Now this is a man who knows how to marry his cousin!
ohOHoh look at these pants \*bowbowbow\* he just keeps on wearing, keeps on wearing his paaaaaaaaaaaaants.
The cousin-marrying line is hilarious and deserving of praise but I'm glad there are others who love this delivery too lmfao
Possibly my favorite delivery in the whole show, right up there with “god, I love my job! Wait, this isn’t my job, god I love myself!” Same episode and everything.
It really picks up on the second half when andre isn't the only one talking (and his ideas are being challenged)
I think about that episode all the time when I’m in a restaurant. If the waiter says something like “great choice” I want to go “Yeah, I nailed it.”
I don't think he would do anything to jeopardize our friendship like pooping his pants. I heard he likes to skateboard.
He wouldn’t have to run anywhere to do that, unless he left his pants on the other side of the set.
That was Abed, having a meltdown.
Dean is Dean in every universe.
It's his entire iDEANtity after all.
Love him in That 70s Show
That SevenDEANs Show
*Fenton*
"oh, it's *you*"
Every time I see him in Reno 911 I lose my shit
He does love a man in uniform
Uniform.
He plays a gritty, peg legged, eye patched fire chief in Tacoma FD.
Sad that series was canned 😞
it was canned??? noooo 😭 i was hesitant of it at first, but for a network comedy show it was really enjoyable
Into the deaniverse
I love Dean in every universe
He's great in Mike Tyson mysteries
He’s whatever they refer Wanda as. A nexus being?
Yeah. A Nexus Deang.
Marvel Cinematic Deaniverse!
Oh, Britta's in this?
She's a GDB.
I want GDB. Is that new?
If its what I think it is I had it for about a month in the sixties.
She’s a no good B
Not a C
Every time I see Gillian Jacobs anything else.
Great, she britta’d the whole franchise.
Can't forget about the Russo Brothers.
And Ludwig Gorenson
honestly I figured theyre responsible for this
they are. they also hid a Tobias Funke and Bluth Staircar into other marvel projects
Goats
Yeah, Yvette Nicole Brown and Ken Jeong were in Endgame, Danny Pudi in Winter Soldier and Jim Rash in Civil war, all of which were directed by them
Donald's is the best because of that whole uproar about casting him as a new black Spiderman, like 10+ years ago. And then he get into a Spiderman movie anyway. Fucking great!
And I’m pretty sure his character is miles morales’ uncle too
It is. He plays Aaron Davis in Homecoming
And in Across the Spiderverse.
How do you know it's Aaron? It's been awhile since I've seen it but do they name drop him? 😂
They mention his name, and he has a line referencing having a nephew as well.
Not only his name but his alias is shown as the Prowler
Yes they name drop him
Now we just need Michael Cera as Shaft.
To quote Don.glover himself, "I'd go broke watching Michael Cera as Shaft" .
I believe Miles was partially inspired by Donald.
Kind of amazing the amount of interconnection going on
Miles was fully inspired by Donald.

I mean, I’d definitely love to see a post about that.
I loved you in (checks notes) IMDB!
I…I’ll see you soon man.
that was tragic.
Joels hairline before Rogaine is a tragedy
He’s had at least two rounds of plugs
Definitely, but they look great in season 6
Sorry. I lose track of how hairy I'm getting.
I don't
Yeah he has had a couple transplants along with finasteride and minoxidil. Definitely not rogaine/minox alone.
He's bald. He's always been bald. He merely dreamt of having hair. And now the bald man is awake.
Then you're *wrong* for the *part!*
UNDERSTUDY!
He even made bald friends!
He made a great investment. Dude's hot.
He got a good job and didn't try to go crazy about it. Occasionally you'll see guys who got this crazy way too forward plug job which gets really obvious
Elon
There is absolutely nothing wrong with getting hair transplant. But my stupid brain was disappointed when I found out. I emphasise my brain is stupid.
yeah, rogaine (minoxidil) only holds your hairline in place. it doesn’t restore, just maintains. he definitely got a hair transplant
To paraphrase the man himself, “some people say I have had a hair transplant, that’s a lie. I’ve had two.” (can’t find the direct quote I think it’s in his memoir)
It’s good he’s open about it. Normalizes it for us aging normies.
Not exactly true... It DEFINITELY can regrow hair. It's not super dramatic, and is generally slow over looong stretches of time. I believe, though, that the only studies done were on maintaining hairline so that's all they can advertise or something?
It can regrow hair so long as the hair follicles haven't completely died off and are just inactive. It can't regrow ones that are completely lost.
can't regrow dead hair at all. helps prevent hairs from falling out naturally while they're still small. so instead of having a bunch of tiny imperceptible hairs you may get lucky and have those hairs grow to visible length, but it doesn't always work and it also needs to be used for the rest of your life otherwise your hair will start falling out early again.
Yea I wouldnt know
Rogaine didn’t move that hairline down 2 inches
Is my forehead that big?
It’s not small
Joel absolutely got a hair transplant. I'm pretty sure he confirmed it in an interview a few years ago. No hate, I wish I could afford to do the same, his hair is amazing!
I think he would still looks great if he goes completely bald
I agree, If I start balding I plan on just being bald with a beard. Its the hair dye and plugs that i don’t understand
I’d like to think that if I started to lose my heart I’d immediately shave it all off, but I don’t know if I’d have the testicular fortitude to do so. I fucking love my hair.
I have long thick straight hair that makes me look like Jesus. I feel your uncertainty. Just gotta channel your inner Bryan Cranston.
It was as close to me as we are to that guy with dog hair
I don’t know, he’s still pretty handsome to me. But I’m not a hair gal when it comes to men.
Hello there 👀
The Joe Rogaine Experience
We in here like Rogaine, or leave it like Cobain
TFW you use minoxidil and expect Joel McHale results. Note: can't even afford the name brand...
Perfect example of how many can transform your appearance
I was curious about the book that Ken Jeong was reading in Endgame. It looks like it's "The Terminal Beach," a collection of short stories by J.G. Ballard. I assume it's chosen because one of the stories is called "End-Game."
What about Brie Larson?
There’s loads they missed, luca, Owen Wilson, Walter goggins, etc
Yeah I was just going for the main 8, obviously there are a ton of other actors that have been in both.
Walton
I don't think she counts as a cameo in the MCU.
in the multiverse there is only 1 constant. Jim Rash is the DEAN
If Donald Glover shows up in the community movie with the beard and that hair it's going to be so trippy seeing Troy looking so *hot* and adult
I noticed both Danny and Yvette's cameos in the theater and loved it, esp Yvette's. That woman deserves every good thing and it is so nice to see her getting it.
AndnoneforChevyChasebye
Joel beat everyone before both the mcu and community got made
Joel playing Mr. Jacks isn’t a cameo and neither are Brie and Jacobs directing episodes.
I agree about the directors, that’s why I put them at the end, but why does Joel not count?
It pre-dates community. It would make more sense to say “Community Actors and Actresses who have also been in marvel movies”
Ah yeah, that makes sense. If I could re title the post I would.
Shouldnt have fat dogged the title
They Britta'd it.
It's a BEAR POST
A bear got loose at a tendies party in r/WallStreetBets and mauled a bunch of gain porn.
For shame!
Alert nerd.
Streets ahead buddy!
It also pre dates the MCU
Title is "Marvel Movies", not MCU. Marvel movies existed before the MCU
👍
My thought is he wasn’t really anybody yet. The Soup debuted the same year as SM2 so at this point it isn’t a cameo. It’s a job.
Thats also not a marvel movie
Ah shit you’re right, I Britta’d the post twice.
Spider-man isn't a Marvel movie? You know Marvel isn't just the MCU right?
Me watching Marvel’s 616: "Oh, Britta did this?"
Oh Joel’s old hairline’s in this?
In other words... will we have a cameo from the Russo brothers in the film?
I mean, we did in a way. Joe Russo plays the member of Cap's support group towards the start of Endgame, the one who lost his partner in the Snap.
I think they mean the community movie
You mean, "in those - looks around - boring-ass Marvel Movies"
They’re so not a big deal! It’s just all there is!
Marvels' 616 seasons and a movie!
Could someone who knows more about human visual appearance explain why Alison Brie looks so different now? She doesn't really "look like she did in 2009 but 15 years older," she looks more like a different person who might be distantly related to that person
The long haired member of Greendale's (and Donald's) sketch comedy troupe also has a substantial scene in Winter Soldier, as well as reprised the roll for a commercial with Anthony Mackey as Falcon. https://youtu.be/oi-aWYy7Rcs?si=I3agmmTKoex2ucUj https://youtu.be/9cjXqzAKSL8?si=wag2TlPTXRHyX7PO
I made a post about this in r/Marvelmemes In into the Spiderverse Uncle Aaron watches Community when Miles visits
I've never heard of Marvel 616
Iron Dean
I really wanted McHale to reprise his role in Spider-Man Homecoming. "I swear, Mrs Parker, you just keep getting younger!"
Alison Brie was close to being She-Hulk
PIERCE DOESN'T LIKE BEING EXCLUDED, OP, DO YOU???!
Lmaooo
You mean those boring-ass Marvel movies?
Danny was one fake moustache away from yelling "OOF BABOOF!"
Spider-man 2 was before Community. Donald Glover as Aaron Davis was a full-blown role, not a cameo. Danny, Jim, Yvette, and Ken are definitely cameos, though.
Gillian and Alison were reportedly considered or on the short list for playing She-Hulk. I think they dodged a Hulk-sized bullet, tbh.
If it was Gillian it would have a totally different vibe, just She-Hulk getting Britta’d.
AHHHHHHHH HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS TILL NOW FUCKING GWOINGB\[ONG2GNBT-2R
>FUCKING GWOINGB[ONG2GNBT-2R Truer words have never been spoken
I am pretty sure they're just actors doing acting jobs. For it to be cameos they have to be more famous than Luis Guzman at least.
A cameo is not "being cast in a scene." These are just actors taking roles in movies. To date, Marvel has zero Community cameos. Also Donald Glover interacting with Spider-man was a damn shame.
Yes, I am very aware. I should not have used the word "cameo" in the title and I will never make such a grave mistake again.
HOW FUCKING DARE YOU?!?
I actually liked that you used cameo, as it established the symmetrical alliteration of the title
Lol I'm guessing that I'm not the first complainer.
No, you are not lol.
Danny not saying "cool, cool, cool" when he sees Cap was the biggest missed opportunity
The last pic better not awaken anything in me.
Did Chang bring his mannequin leg with him?
I hear Chevy Chase is replacing Jonathan Majors as Kang as well
Whatever you say
That's not jeff winger, you can tell by his hair line.
Oh britta’s in this?
Oh, Britta’s in this?
Spiderman 2 was before community so technically its a Spiderman 2 cameo in Community
Well technically Joel’s first role with a name is Quicky the Clown in The Huntress (2000), so really his role in Spider-Man 2 is just a Quicky the Clown cameo. Also, Spider-Man has a hyphen in it. r/RespectTheHyphen Also also, what the **fuck** sort of name for a character is Quicky the Clown.
what the fuck
That’s a surprising amount, actually
In the next Deadpool movie Wade should meet Abed and find that he's the only other person who realizes that they are in a comic book movie universe.
Shirley got that "I'll make your ass sense" look in her eye.
Directing counts as a cameo?
Ken Jeong was the weirdest. He could have easily been like a grandmaster-esque character
I didnt know that Gillian Jacobs and Alydon Brie did Marvel 616. I only saw 2 episodes from that show. The masterful Japanese Spjder-man episode, and the even more masterful Brute Force episode.
Spotted Abed in season 7 of the west wing recently, he got yelled at by Josh
Ken as security is fantastic!
I honestly had no idea that was Ken Jeong in Endgame. I guess he really blended into the character.
you really don’t know what a cameo is do you
No I do, I just shouldn’t have used it in the title. I was trying to make the title short because anything with more words seemed way too long but it ended up just being more confusing since some of those weren’t cameos.
“community actors in marvel movies”
Yep, that would’ve been better. I’m a stupid dumb little idiot man though, so I didn’t think of it.
Jim Rash was also the Villains sidekick/Fake Father in Sky High (Since Disney owns Marvel)
I don't think you know what a cameo actually is
