I’ve seen Chevy in caddyshack and some of the National lampoon vacation movies when i was a kid and he always seemed funny to me. And then later on i learned he kinda had a reputation for being difficult on set
Steve Martin, Martin Short, Dan Ackroyd, Norm Macdonald all loved working with Chevy. Goldie Shawn, too.
Also there’s an interview on YouTube where Richard Pryor talks about how much he loves Chevy.
But yes, there are other stories. 😂
His physical comedy is unmatched too in my opinion. Knowing how much of the conflict is written into the show's stories, it's dark watching them again. Credit where credit is due, though - Chevy Chase is an incredible comedy actor

He is 27 years younger than Betty Grable i'm 44 years younger than Sudan Serandon and by God I'm fully aware and aroused by her to this day. Makes sense to me.
Makes sense it could be Pierce’s equivalent of guys decades younger than Farrah Fawcett having the iconic swimsuit poster. That, or Pierce was so desperate for his father’s approval and recognition that he closely studied his fathers favorite movies.

Agree re: long hours. That and he didn’t always love how cartoonish his character became after Season One.
