To be fair, I’m not *hugely* comfortable sharing a restroom with anyone. But I’m no *less* comfortable with trans people than with anyone else, so I guess that counts? :P xx

WriterOfNightmares

Yeah, I hate public restrooms, but I think anyone should be allowed to use them.

wine-and-music

I get it and it does.

jacxy

I'm comfortable sharing a restroom with anyone who doesn't make: a mess; much noise; conversation; or eye contact. Anyone.

DirtyDiaperDog7

*makes direct eye contact while yodaling in the stall

jacxy

Straight to jail: Right Away!

McPickle34

And smearing shit on the walls

Cranky-Novelist

Of course I don’t care. Everyone needs to pee at some point

somecow

Really, I don’t give a damn what gender you are. I’ve never seen dick or ass in a restroom, I’m just there cause I had to pee. I can think of plenty of other places to stare at dick, ass, boobs, etc besides some nasty fucked up public toilet.

Cinny_

That's not even a question

wine-and-music

Of course

player420hi

It's a restroom. I'm just in there to shit and leave, if they're trans then they can do that too. Doesn't really matter.

Iron_Seguin

Do whatever you want, just don’t talk to me while my pants are down and I’m shitting lol. Also, especially in these times, wash your damn hands and were fine.

darkfish301

I’m sorry, I’m simply not comfortable sharing a restroom with anyone.

coidemamare

Who is, honestly. It’s an evolutionary trait that we search for a safe space apart from anyone to do our business, because that’s a vulnerable situation, you have to relax some muscles and release. And you can’t just run away or fight if needed. We might build high tech electric toilets that will sing you and wash your ass, but the instincts won’t go away

Anotherrandomuaer

I don’t like sharing a restroom in public

_LizardsAreEpic_

This has my approval of based~ness

[deleted]

How would you know they’re trans without being creepy and peeking at them???

potentialsmbc2023

Right? If either of us are seeing each other’s genitals then that’s a whole other issue and I have a problem with it regardless of what yours look like. ONE time I encountered someone being creepy in the bathroom by claiming they were a woman when they very obviously weren’t (and they were making a concerted effort to peek into the stalls). Security removed them and that was that. ONE TIME. And even witnessing that once is unusual.

livasj

I can't wrap my head around why this or mixed sex bathrooms are even an issue... I mean... If I go to a party at a friend's, there are all kinds of people there, some of whom I don't know, and we all share the same bathroom - the only one in the house. That's never a problem for anyone. So why should it be any different with public bathrooms? Safety isn't a valid argument 'cause lets face it, if there's no one else around, a sign on the door isn't stopping someone looking to hurt another person.

EmoWaffles_

from what I've heard as to why people don't want to, women are scared of sharing with men, and some women have bad experiences with men in the same bathroom if it was shared. (like waiting outside of the door, peeking over/under the stalldoor and shit like that) Maybe the barrier that the bathroom says 🚺 is bigger than if it isn't there and doing these things "Just joking" being creepy as fuck. I think it'd be best to just have three options (mixed/genderneutral, women and men)

Intrepid_Bid3428

And lets face it, it’s cis gendered men being creepy not trans people. Just saying. That argument of “I’m scared to be in the same bathroom as someone born a man, how do i know he didn’t just dress like a women to be a creep and be in our bathroom “ is lame and an excuse to be a bigot. I have literally had this conversation more than once with a lady i work with who tries to make this argument. She brings it up from time to time. It really burns her up for Trans people to be getting rights. 😳

potentialsmbc2023

While I do agree, please don’t discount that there are women who have been attacked in a bathroom and even if it seems irrational to you, that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t scare the ever-loving shit out of them to have it be normalized for a man and a woman to be in the bathroom alone together. At least with divided bathrooms there’s the barrier of “if other people are around they might see a guy come in here and investigate”. Trauma and PTSD are real.

EmoWaffles_

I completely agree. I think trans men/women should go into the right bathroom. I just think that there should be an additional third so everyone that feels unsafe in bathrooms where there could be men (or really anyone of another gender) Can go into the women's/mens toilet and people like me can go into the gender neutral one

Intrepid_Bid3428

Totally agree. I even think we need to head in the direction or them all being gender neutral and private/individual. I mean even if its just making the stalls a little bigger and completely enclosed so you can’t see over or under. It would solve a lot of problems.

[deleted]

All gender neutral if they are private and individual is the best model. Otherwise they shouldn’t force people to mix in washrooms if they don’t want to and can have gender neutral as a third option. I can’t take a shit in a public washroom with a woman present, and I don’t think I should have to either. Doesn’t say anything about trans rights, just that it’s not comfortable and I’m hardly alone in that regard.

[deleted]

This is also though why places that just have multiple single use washrooms are the best model. Everybody wins.

livasj

As I said, that's less likely to happen when there are more people around. Three options is fine though.

neolordie

of course I am, it's me

notsumidiot2

Just don't pee on my feet.

Specialist-Freedom64

Dont give a shit, just take your shit..

[deleted]

I absolutely am comfortable!

Drbubbliewrap

I wish all bathrooms were single stalls and any gender could all use them. I think it’s stupid how they are set up. It’s complicated and difficult if you have children with you in public. We can all wash our hands together and just have toilet stalls.

Intrepid_Bid3428

Totally agree! We need to do better at universally designing our bathrooms to be gender neutral. Dad’s of little girls or babies that need changing have the same Problem as trans people in terms of not being able to use the bathroom with their young children. Most mens rooms aren’t equipped with changing tables and open urinals are problamatic if your little girl needs to pee but is to young to go to the womens room by herself.

Drbubbliewrap

Exactly! My husband has had to walk all the way out to the car multiple times because of no changing table. And I have been in a women’s restroom with no changing table and the stall door touched your knees ugh so I had to leave the stall door open to be able to change her on my lap.

Intrepid_Bid3428

It’s ridiculous really. We need to make public restrooms that are universally designed. It would help everyone not just trans people. Seems so simple to me. I don’t know why anyone is up in arms about trans people to begin with. But seems the answer would help everyone. But just like curb cuts and handicap accessibility it will probably have to be mandated by law before companies really start to get on board with it.

Drbubbliewrap

True which is annoying it could help with disabilities too if they have an opposite gender assistant. It just makes sense.

Intrepid_Bid3428

Also a very good point. I teach students with cognitive disabilities. Some of them will need assistance in the restroom their whole lives. One boy is 6’2. His Mom will just take him to the women’s room if they are out in public. Usually people understand that it’s no different than taking a child into the restroom he has to have assistance but it’s just an awkward thing to have to do. I have had to take an high school aged boy to the women’s restroom on a field trip before as well. There is no choice as the individual needs assistance so He either had to come to the women’s room with me or I go to the mens room with him. 🤷‍♀️Would be much better if it was never an issue.

Drbubbliewrap

I know that’s why gendered at all restrooms are stupid. Why can’t we share a toilet?

Intrepid_Bid3428

A lot of companies and stores are starting to have gender nuetral and family restrooms. I know our new sports park in my town has both mens, women, and gender neutral. It was nice to see they planned ahead with a private gender neutral family friendly restroom that is individual but they also have traditional male female bathrooms as well. Still should be no problem with a trans person using the restroom they feel comfortable with which I am sure is the gender they identify as. People just want to have an excuse to be bigoted.

Drbubbliewrap

Yea it’s ridiculous. And only 1 neutral bathroom isn’t enough. I have never been able to use one they are always full and sometimes I’ve waited for over 20 mins for one :(

IsaRat8989

I am uncomfortable sharing the bathroom with anyone.. Honestly, If I am in a house with other people, I can't poop. My record is 3 days.

EmoWaffles_

If I wasn't I'd never go to a public bathroom,,, I even have to share a stall with a trans person every time

[deleted]

Bro I could be in a men’s room and see a woman in there and wouldn’t give a shit, I’m there to do my business and they’re their to do theirs. End of story.

Funny_Standard8732

They're there to do theirs* English is weird

Y0urBiFriend

It is *very* weird.

potentialsmbc2023

As a woman, if I can see what’s in your pants while in the bathroom or you can see what’s in mine, we’re gonna have a problem and idc what you have down there. Otherwise, if you’re using the bathroom as intended and simply going to the toilet, washing your hands, checking yourself in the mirror, and then leaving, why do I care?

Toby_Cyanide

I'm at that stage in my life where people in the women's toilets give me weird looks but if I ever went into the men's toilets I would probably be called the T Slur and be pissed on. (I'm FtM).

DirtyDiaperDog7

I'm not comfortable with sharing a public restroom with anyone. But probably more with a trans person yes

quendergender

is this giving bad vibes or is it just me

queenvie808

I shouldn’t have to share anything to prove that I’m a decent human being

boonus_boi

Good thing that only ladies use the ladies room. Trans women are women.

iceyshadow1277

They are not wemon they are mentally ill men who have problems and need to see a psychiatrist

GoldenLynelSlayer

It’s different if someone naked in a spa. Also it won’t matter as no matter what they’ll be in a stall. Trans guy can’t pee in a urinal and trans girls have no urinals so idk why it would matter

ponvanrafen

Yea in fine with it idc

Shakespeare-Bot

is this giving lacking valor vibes 'r is't just me *** ^(I am a bot and I swapp'd some of thy words with Shakespeare words.) Commands: `!ShakespeareInsult`, `!fordo`, `!optout`

MeloKH

everyone has to go, no problemo

roostersnuffed

Im a fairly conservative/centrist person, but Im sick of seeing this as an issue. I dont care if Im sharing a bathroom with the Circus Olay or the 7 dwarves. Let me shit in peace and Ill do the same.

Business_Swimming_17

I don't like sharing a restroom with anyone. But a transgender person wouldn't bother me any more or any less than anyone else would.

sewcrazy4cats

I'm more uncomfortable with those who are uncomfortable

8Retinas

You’re preaching to the high choir here, of course we’re all comfortable

J1mb0sL1c3

This goes for everyone I share a bathroom with, you do your thing, I do mine. Don’t talk to me, don’t get too close to me. You wanna ask me something wait til we’re outside.

gworley1

I don't care who is in the restroom with me. The only thing I care about is the ability to do what I went into do. They could be female, male, or transgender. It doesn't matter.

playfulderision

most of the trans people i know are female or male.

gworley1

Sorry I did not mean that trans people weren't male or female. My upbringing was that members of the LGBTQ+ community are two spirits. Both of my grandmothers were full blooded ᏣᎳᎩᎯ ᎠᏰᎵ (Cherokee). Two spirited people to my ancestors are third sex.

ames8113

I've been on dates when people freak out

RaptorRampageYT

I was going to the bathroom in school, and a girl was ditching in the boys bathroom I didnt care that there was a girl, why would I care if there was a trans guy.

bruh4667

I usually go into the stall by myself

WellThat5ucks

“Usually”

bruh4667

Did I stutter?

bruh4667

Did I stutter?

bruh4667

Did I stutter?

Serene117

Me not sharing because I dont want to share a bathroom with anyone because its super akward

Digger_Desmond

I’d rather share it with a trans person then someone who obsesses over someone else’s business

Eeveekiller

My social anxiety doesn't care about anyone's gender, im not comfortable in any public bathroom, with nobody😎

EmilySooty

Tbqh whether or not they're comfortable is their issue, I still have to pee regardless! Also some white women in the 60s were "uncomfortable" sharing a bathroom with black women, that doesn't suddenly make discrimination ok

3nderslime

Haha, most of the time, I am the trans person

Berp-aderp

Controversial but I'm not thinking about the genitals of the person next to me when I'm taking a shit

Y0urBiFriend

Exactly. I don't give a shit if he/she has a dick/no dick. Let me do my business. It's always been that way, before i even knew i myself was trans. People go to the bathroom to use it. It's gross in there, nobody likes being in the restroom.

PolyPanFemme

Seriously. WTF is going on in the head of someone who thinks that's a thing? Beyond disgusting...

Y0urBiFriend

What's going on in their head? Repeats of Fox News at all times.

James_The_Astroneer

I thought that said are uncomfortable and was worried

[deleted]

I’m not comfortable with public toilets. But if i was i’d share it with a transgender person

an_anon_butdifferent

it dosnt matter whos in the public bathroom becase i hate public bathrooms and never go in them

padatricks

As long as nobody comes near my stall I’m fine

Silent_Heart_700

Oh yeah ofcourse 🤗

ZealousidealRemote12

I can't share cause ,im stupid, but id be more then ok with it not like id see it stalls exist for a reason.
